We've been going to this veterinary practice for about 3 years. We have 1 cat and recently adopted 2 more kittens. Dr. Shah and staff are so friendly and helpful with the health of our cats. I was very concerned that one of my dogs wasn't feeling well today. Right away I took my dog to Dr. Shaw. After he saw my dog and examined her, he gave me a piece of mind that there is nothing wrong with her. He is a very experienced doctor and I would recommend him to anybody with a pet. He is very fair and honest but most of all he will always fit you into his schedule if there is an emergency concerning your pet. Kahala is our sweet rescue kitty and the very best pet I've ever had. I visited Dr. Shaw after moving to Aliso from Hawaii for Kahalas rabies shot and again this week for an injury. Thank you to both staff members that assist Dr. Shah, you are so welcoming, kind, & professional!I can't express what a valuable asset you both are and not only wonderful with our little patient but also with us, the pet owners. I greatly appreciate how accommodating the last minute appointments were due to Kahalas foot injury. I cannot recommend this clinic.  My dog clearly had a UTI with blood and pus in his genital area yet the vet had to do a urinalysis by taking a urine sample via needle into the bladder.  Totally unnecessary given the above symptoms and risks sepsis. Read Less

I've brought my cat, Toulouse, to Dr. Shah for the 2 years that I've had him and I cannot say enough good things about the practice. Dr. Shah is professional and knowledgable, as well as genuinely caring and kind. When Toulouse had a blocked urinary tract last year Dr. Shah was very efficient in getting a diagnosis and starting treatment right away. My cat is my baby and I was so worried, but Dr. Shah put me at ease by thoroughly explaining the problem and talking me through the whole treatment, reassuring me that he was in good hands. Toulouse was feeling better within a few days and I was so thankful. Also, the receptionists are always extremely friendly and helpful, making the experience of setting up an appointment and coming to the office easy and even enjoyable. Dr. Shah is wonderful. Our Persian kitten was born with very small nose holes and was unable to breathe without difficulty. We took our kitten to Dr. Shah, and he widen our kitten's nose holes--and did an excellent job! We're so thankful that such a skilled veterinary surgeon lives in our area and has been able to help our pets -- now and in the past -- live healthy lives. My pets are like my babies, so anyplace that I feel comfortable taking my pets to deserves an A in my book. Dr Shah and his staff have won me over since they are so caring to my current cat (Oreo) and they always explain everything really well that is going on with my cat and what they are doing to him during the exam. My boyfriend and I first took Oreo to see Dr Shah about 8 months ago for a first time check to make sure he was healthy (we had adopted Oreo about a year ago from the Orange Animal Shelter, and he had an exam at the shelter, but we wanted one at a regular office as well). Oreo checked out ok and we were impressed with the office. The second time we took Oreo into see the vet was to have him declawed about a month after his first visit. This is a traumatic experience for both the cat and the humans (I cried) and I wouldn't recommend having this procedure done unless you absolutely have to (Oreo is an inside cat and was ruining all our furniture). Having your cat declawed requires an overnight stay. We dropped Oreo off on a Friday, and were able to pick him up the next morning. It was pretty easy....except for our visit back to the office shortly after we picked Oreo up because he tore off his bandages, picked at his paws and started bleeding. It does take your cat a couple of weeks to get used to having no claws and for their paws to feel more "normal" again. Our third visit was about a week ago when we took Oreo in for his yearly exam and shots. I was able to get a Saturday appointment a few days in advance (sweet!). The exam was painless and we were in and out in about 15 minutes. Dr Shah was able to look over Oreo thoroughly (ears, eyes, teeth, heart beat, belly, etc...and Oreo is healthy!) and Dr Shah gave him a couple of shots. I love how Dr Shah is so gentle with his animal patients. It leaves me happy.Overall, I like this office and we'll keep taking Oreo here for as long as we live in Aliso Viejo. Cheers! Read Less

PART 1:I took my Bichon Frise here because he was so itchy and uncomfortable. Saw Dr. Shah and explained to him the issues. He barely touched my dog or even looked at him. The only time he touched him was to lift up his lips to look at his teeth. He vaguely went through that my dog has allergies, prescribed him some allergy medication (that wasn't even in stock). I had to come back 2 days later. He went on and on about my dog needing a dental cleaning. He then walks me out to the front and tells the receptionist to get Data (my dogs name) "HER" medication on order. My dog is a "HE". Part 2:My dog had been taking this medication prescribed by Dr. Shah for a month. Dog was doing great, scratching was to a minimum. Since the meds were out of stock with Dr. Shah I decided to go on 1-800 Pet Meds to get it filled. On this site you have to get the Vet's ok to order it. I got a call from 1-800 Pet Meds saying the Dr. declined my request. I called and they told me I had to go back in for a follow up appt and go through a blood test for my dog that will cost about $150. WHAT?! Are you kidding me? He never mentioned this on my initial visit at all, (remember all he talked about was my dogs teeth). I could not believe the money trap they tried to pull on me.I went ahead and switched Vets immediately! If you want a great teeth cleaning for your dog, go here since this is what they push for. If you want great care for your dog and a vet that cares, go somewhere else! Read Less

My dog was due for his annual injections so I decided to come here since it's the closest to home.  I was a little nervous for my dog since it's his first time with this doctor.  As we walked in, Tracy greeted us with a smile and knew we were there for Dante.  She handed me the paperwork and since Dante was nervous and acting out, she let us go into the examination room.  This was very nice of her.Dr. Shah was very pleasant and took his time hearing my concerns and explained everything to me in detail.  He and Tracy were very sweet and comforting to Dante during the exam, taking blood, and his injections.I am so happy that I found a Veterinarian so close to home that we are happy with.  I am glad that Dante has a doctor that I and he are happy with.  The prices are affordable and they give you a detailed summary prior to treatment. I am very impressed by the attention and care that our dog Theo receives when he needs to visit the vet. Dr. Shah is a very kind and attentive, always making sure that the dog is comfortable and as pain free as possible, even during uncomfortable procedures. The office staff always calls a few hours after the appointment just to make sure everything is going well. We appreciate the extra level of attention. I took my dog to Dr. shah office for 2nd opinion for my dog skin disease. He was very thorough on exam, not only fixed my dog skin condition, but he showed me some teeth problem on my dog which the other vet never talked about it.
