Then, Dr. Singh said that he would have to sedate my dog in order to exam him!! Folks, even in experienced hands, sedation is risky, and medical professionals avoid using sedation and anesthesia in general unless it is absolutely necessary. There was nothing about my dog’s behavior that made sedation necessary. Again, after very brief barking, because he was scared and in an unfamiliar environment, my dog was friendly and calm to Dr. Singh. I disagreed with Dr. Singh about the use of sedation, multiple times over the course of only a minute or two, after which point he told me to take my business elsewhere. He did nothing to explain his perspective. He offered no empathy towards my concern of unnecessary sedation in my dog. Instead, he arrogantly pushed for unnecessary sedation. Again, you can find ample research around use of treats and other non-chemical methods to control dogs - if they need control, which mine didn’t! Indeed, my dog is well socialized and interacts with strangers frequently, but in environments he is familiar with. Again, my dog was briefly scared and then calmed quickly. Dr. Singh over-reacted.
Please know that Dr. Singh or his staff my respond to this review by saying that I yelled at him and got profane. I agreed that I did this, but it was ONLY AFTER he told me to take my business elsewhere and I was already on my way out the door. Prior to that I was calmly and politely disagreeing with him about the sedation.
I will leave it to you to decide whether Dr. Singh is pushing for unnecessary interventions in order to generate additional revenue. I also leave it to you whether you will take my stories to heart or say I have an axe to grind. Regardless, I urge you to err on the side of caution. There are a tons of vets in the bay area. Please play it safe for you pets and find one that knows your breeds, follows contemporary veterinary science, and shows empathy towards your concerns and is willing to have a conversation about them.
I am of the mind that you can find better care for your pet, and that American Canyon Veterinary Hospital caused my pet way more harm than good.

We love this place, the owner/vet genuinely cares for our dog maitai. It was surprising at first when he would go the extra way speaking not only of our dogs physical health but he cares to about her emotional health. When maitai had a uti and had some accidents in the house he said to us on the phone. Please don't be mad at her, she can't help it. It's very painful for her when she feels the urge it's already to late. But please don't be angry with her. I was like woah I could never be upset with maitai, but I am one of those type of owners. He has genuine concern and so do his wonder staff. Thank you

This is the most compassionate vet I have seen in a long time. I have total trust in Dr. Singh and his staff. I have just recently had 2 cats that needed massive surgeries. They both came thru it with flying colors. I highly recommend AC VETERINARY.

Awesome!! After losing my 17 year old cat last year to cancer I was able to try out several local vets in the area attempting to save my cat. It was a horrible experience and I never found a vet that I felt comfortable with. Well I found 1 in Pacifica but it is much too far of a drive. My 8 year old cat recently had a horrific cough so I decided to make the trip out to American Canyon from Benicia to give Dr. Singh a try. I liked him immediately and felt confident he was the vet for us. A week later our cat became fatally ill and Dr. Singh took no time to diagnose the situation and begin saving our cats life. For the past 5 days he has worked incredibly long hours( we drop our cat off at 8 a.m. and pick him up at 6pm) and calls the emergency hospital at 10pm at night to check on our cats care. The emergency hospital also let us know that Dr. Singh had made our cats care very easy on them with his exceptional work placing tubes in lungs etc. They were not used to seeing work this good according to the E.R. We strongly feel we would not have our cat right now if it were not for the extreme care of Dr. Singh.

We love this place, the owner/vet genuinely cares for our dog maitai.
