Best Veterinarian out there hands down😂😂😂😂!!!! Who the **** charges near a thousand dollars just to take unnecessary tests to see if a dog is poisoned or not??? The other reviews with a low rating are completely right... he charges a **** ton of money for things that aren’t even required😂. Like if you happen to a person with a lot of money, s*** be my guest and go to him. But for those people who don’t have have a lot of money, take your pet to somewhere where they will help your pet without having to donate a kidney. My dog was poisoned but I wasn’t gonna spend 800+ on the spot (like the so called doctor said it was gonna cost) I ended up taking him somewhere else where he actually got healed and was affordable. Dr. Carlos has been our family vet for over 15 years. I have referred several family members & friends to him & they all loved him. RUN AWAY!!! I took my dog in because she's vomiting. I suspected that she some drank pool water. He took one minute to check my dog 's temperature then he came out with 700 estimate for all the possible services he can think of. Did not bother to explain all the charges. The following day when I picked up my dog, the doctor is only concerned about how I'm making my payment. He just said that the dog has elevated calcium in the blood and has an infection. He then proceeded to help other patients. I'm pretty sure he did not do everything that is on the bill and that he was being very dishonest. The staff was nice. But, the doctor is a scam. Read Less

My family and I had only the best experiences at this vet. When I was researching vets for my pittie, Stella, Dr. Lopez was able to answer all my questions and was upfront about the costs. He scheduled her in for the next morning, and the price of removing her tumor was the BEST around. I am so appreciative that I can text him anytime with any questions, and he's so quick to respond. The love and care they provided for Stella is beyond any other vet I have been to. I take my other dog, Titus,  to VCA bc it's right around the corner from where I live, and the comparison is astounding. VCA is more profit focused with a bunch of fluff while Dr. Lopez was focused on Stella's well-being and more of the get down to business type.  He genuinely loves Stella and am sure loves he will love Titus the same way.  This is my family vet for life, and I recommend Dr. Lopez to anyone in search of a vet. I just took my bearded dragon here and had a wonderful experience. Dr Carlos Lopez was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions, he even let me look inside my lizards mouth with his tools which was cool. The receptionist up front (I didn't ask her name, unfortunately) was also very friendly and I felt very welcome. The cost of my visit was also $20 less than everywhere else I called for a quote! My bearded dragon is considered exotic, and is quite pricey to take to the vet because of it. That $20 made a huge difference and was such a nice surprise. Took my yorkie there and they are taking care of her and her puppies and doctor and his staff keep continuously comunnicating with me to keep me updated on my pet's health. Don't go here. They should not have 4 stars.They lie to you about the prices and nickel and dime you for everything. This is by far one of the worst vets I have ever been too. You deal with shady people and a shady doctor then don't go here! They told me one price over the phone and then when I arrived they told me another price made me pay more money and said unhave no choice, the procedure was already done. After reading the bad reviews I must say that I have been taking my animals to Dr. Lopez for the last 14 years and have received the best care ever!  It bothers me to read such stories of bad treatment from people that are NOT veterinarians. My dogs have had several complicated surgeries that have been costly and Dr. Lopez always puts them first. Every one of my pets always gets super excited when we pull up and I have never, ever thought of going elsewhere. I have inquired other clinics for "low cost vaccinations" and the prices never compare. My suggestion if you're looking for a vet on a budget and your fur baby isn't important to you then it would be worth it to find someone who isn't as qualified as Dr. Lopez. Dr. Lopez is the most loving and caring vet I've ever met and continues to treat and love my animals as his own. As far as him allowing payments with collateral, he has offered that several times due to the immediate attention my crazy dogs have needed.  Luckily, I have never had to utilize this, but it's nice to know that there are options available.Thanks for everything Dr. Lopez!! Our little dachshund mix Django was experiencing frequent vomiting and was not able to keep food down. We took him to Katella Animal Clinic, where we had been going for years, and they dismissed it as a flu after a hasty and unthorough exam (literally just took his temp) and sent us out the door with two different flu medicines and a $45 hole in our pocket for the exam alone, or lack there of. After a couple days, Django was still unable to keep food or medicine down and vomiting bile in the morning. We rushed him to Katella, where we signed in and sat without acknowledgement from any of the three staff members behind the desk. Frustrated, I called Brookhurst Animal Medical Center and was immediately connected to Dr. Lopez, who told me to come see him in an hour. We left Katella and arrived at Brookhurst, where Dr. Lopez promptly took Django to the exam room and thoroughly checked him, asking many questions and sharing possible diagnoses of Django's condition. He x-rayed him and found irregular blockage in his intestines and advised we leave him in his care so he can monitor him and get him on an IV. For the next couple of days he nursed Django at his clinic (unfortunately no one was there overnight), texting us updates throughout the stay, and concluded the issue was an infection caused by a gastric disorder in which our little guy has trouble passing food. After 2 nights he sent us Django home with medication and instruction for how to continue him in the road to recovery. I shudder to think what condition our pooch would be in right now if it wasn't for Dr. Lopez's expertise and genuine dedication to finding the cause of his ailment. We took our bunny to Dr. Lopez after going to another vet that did not help us at all. By the time we got to Dr. Lopez our bunny had a severe ear infection that was causing his eyes to bulge and his head to tilt and loss of balance and coordination. Dr. Lopez kept him for two nights and gave him antibiotics and took excellent care of him. When we took him home he was doing better and began eating on his own. About a week later he took a turn for the worse and Dr. Lopez wa...s very caring and compassionate when telling us we would have to put him to sleep. He let us sit in the room with him and say our goodbyes and was very supportive. I wish we would have taken Thumper to Dr. Lopez from the very beginning and he would probably be alive today. I will never be able to fully thank Dr. Lopez for saving my car Leo, twice now.  The clinic is unassuming, the doctor is super friendly and non-BS and gives u options. The first time I brought my cat, he was badly hurt at another clinic in Fullerton where they dropped him and left him in his carrier for 8 hours and was badly injured in the fall (he was inside the carrier when they dropped it). That clinic wanted to charge me $500 for X-rays and blood work for what they did to him. I was referred to DR. Lopez and his staff quickly took him in and hooked him up to IVs. Dr. Lopez took amazing care of Leo and brought him back from certain death. He had stopped eating, his liver (or kidney, can't remember right now) were bruised and couldn't even move. By Monday, Leo was doing so much better. He was handfed and taken care of that he bounced back. That was in 2008. Fast forward to 2017, Leo started developing a disturbing thirst and dander. He stopped walking and his hind legs stopped working. I took him again to Dr. lopez (I live in the South Bay Area) and was afraid Leo wouldn't handle the ride. He was quickly deteriorating and at 14 years old, I was very afraid he wouldn't make it. Bloodwork confirmed that he had diabetes and X-rays showed his spine was ravaged by arthritis. My spunky Leo was confined to dragging and waddling on a good day. It was depressing!  Dr. Lopez took him in for two days and monitored his glucose with insulin and although he looked terrible, once at home and with the dr's instructions, Leo is now bouncing back to his old self. I give him insulin twice a day and we are working towards getting him to where he may not need the insulin anymore. But it wouldn't be possible without Dr. Lopez's help. He saved Leo TWICE and  I couldn't be happier with his services and fees. He took incredible care and my fussy kitty. Ok guys- you know a vet is shady as heck when they tell you they'll take your car's pink slip if you need to make payments. Wtf?Yes, that really happened with this guy and my boyfriend and I still shudder to think about the surgery he insisted our cat needed. I actually can't believe I never left this review, but it's been a while and we still shake our heads at the experience we had so I decided to share.So my cat was inexplicably cuddly and needy, which my independent kitty from hell never is, she likes her space- but then she started bleeding from her lady parts. She has always been an indoor cat, she's not fixed,  but at 8yrs old she was doing fine. Her bleeding happened on a Saturday and we came to this office because nothing else was open. My first thought was that it was super dark and kind of creepy. Then the vet greets us, he takes her into a room for an "examination" which involved rubbing her stomach and nothing else- no X-rays or blood work, just touching her and deciding she needed a $1300 surgery immediately or she would die of pyometra. Since I had researched what could be happening to her, I knew this could be a possibility and that I also couldn't afford the surgery. The vet made me think it was operate or she dies. We asked about any possible payment plans and were offered to set something up but we'd have to sign over our car's pink slip for "insurance" - that's when my boyfriend and I both saw red flags. Really? My dentist takes payment plans and the work he's doing goes into the thousands of dollars, but I've never had to leave some form of insurance for the work. That just seemed so shady to us both.We decided to wait and decide what our options were, and after $120 or so for the "exam" and some cat antibiotics that seem to have done the trick, we never came back and our cat survived. She's hale and hearty again, no sign of infection or any ill side effects. We're planning to get her fixed, but at a clinic that won't ask for our car's title for incentive. I'd definitely recommend anyone avoid this guy, it just felt like a total scam. Read Less

He gets right down to business. My cat Pearl was clearly not herself, sleeping all day and not eating. Her usual vet was closed for the night and the closest open vet was this one. I called and he said to come over.The office is not all posh or upscale looking but the Doctor gets right to diagnosing and curing. He identified a fever and immediately administered antibiotics followed by drip IV and Xrays. Some people are very cheap with their pets and so they complain if too many procedures are ordered, but I was just happy he took action quickly and didn't wait. He took blood (right from the neck, since she was dehydrated and a senior) most people have issues getting blood from her since she is a senior - he got it quickly.When I didn't want to leave her overnight -since it's hard for me to do that, he made arrangements to create an IV bubble that would release into her system over time and gave me more antibiotics to take home. That same night she was up, started eating and being herself again. She was clearly on the road to a fast recovery. We took her in for a follow-up visit the next day and she got more IV liquid and more antibiotics to help her along and got her ears cleaned and nails clipped. It was all very quick and efficient. Dr. Lopez was fast, knowledgeable and effective. I don't believe he is going to be everyone's cup of tea (if you prefer someone more corporate style) - but I feel like he did an excellent job for Pearl, she is feeling so much better - she is even running around the house again and asking me for food like she used to. HORRIBLE VET. KEEP YOUR FURRY FRIENDS AWAY FROM HERE!! SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!!My Poor dog was itching excessively so we brought him in for an evaluation.  They checked him and did a skin scraping and concluded there were no fleas or parasites so it must be a skin condition or allergic reaction to his food. We switched his food. Paid a ton of money to the vet and they prescribed some bullshit spray and a cone. After a few weeks, he was still itching so we brought him back, where they charged us again and the dr. Said he needed to be fixed due to his hormones racing thus causing the itching. We fixed him, paid a ton of money again and paid even more money for the follow up visit. None of it worked. We took him to another vet where they found he had fleas . They Gave me a pill for FLEAS AND AN office visit charge for a total of only $109 and wallah, the itching stopped and he's better. Read Less

Over presidents weekend our beloved Husky Logan had to go in for emergency bloat surgery. The emergency clinic we had taken him to in the middle of the night finished the surgery and as soon as he woke up from anasthesia they told us to take him and find a vet that would keep him for the next 3 days! Totally overwhelmed and broke from the 3,500 dollar surgery someone recommended Dr. Carlos. He took Logan after 3 other vets told us they wouldn't touch him charged us a fair price and took great care of him! Those of you who have reptiles should not be going to this doctor. I went to this doctor because I found him on the tortoise trust web veterinarian list. Maybe he is better with other animals, but he definitely doesn't know what he is doing with tortoises. I should have known better when he kept calling my tortoise a turtle. What kind of specialist doesn't know the difference between a turtle and tortoise?I took my tortoise in because it was having constipation. Upon arrival, my tortoise decided to poop, and the doctor immediately said it is diarrhea. No xray, no nothing. He just based the assumption that my tortoise had worms because it had diarrhea. He totally did not listen to the symptoms we provided. He then decided to give my tortoise a fecal exam, and then tried to probe antibiotics into my tortoise. Just as another reviewer noted, he did not ask for permission to administer drugs to my tortoise, nor did he state what he was giving my tortoise until AFTER the drug was administered. The way he tried to administer the drug to my tortoise was also very rough and unprofessional. He exerted a lot of force (kept trying to open my tortoise's mouth with a plastic syringe) to a point that he would lose grip and poke the eyes of my tortoise a few times. My tortoise was already so stressed out that it retracted its head inside the shell, and the doctor still kept trying to probe my tortoise under that condition. I think it was because he wanted to leave the office, so he was rushing the procedure (we saw him lock up and go to his car when we were leaving). He also seemed uncertain in answering the questions that we had. I was quoted $45 for an exam. I left the place paying $110 due to additional medical fees. The next day, I had to call him (because he said he would contact us, but he didn't) for results of the fecal test. He told me that the test was POSITIVE and that there were a lot of EGGS inside my tortoise. It cost me another $25 to get deworming medication for my tortoise (he only gave a little) and it smelled like icing. There was no label of any sort on the dewormer, and I didn't even know what he was prescribing to my tortoise. He also tried to get me to buy another dewormer medication because he knew I had another tortoise, without even knowing the condition of my other tortoise. He wanted me to bring in my other tortoise to earn more money. What were the results of my tortoise? It didn't have any worms at ALL. The constipation was actually due to a bladder stone impact, which caused my tortoise to have a hard time pooping. I will upload images of the bladder stone that I removed from my tortoise, and also the medication I received from the doctor as proof that I had actually visited him in case he wants to say otherwise. This guy is NOT a tortoise specialist, and doesn't know anything about tortoises. NO one should take their reptiles here. He doesn't care about the welfare of animals, and is only looking to rip your money. $135 profit for him here because I was too stupid to come here. Read Less

I can't share enough how grateful our family is to Dr Lopez. Yesterday I was at an animal hospital in Tustin that wanted to charge $6000 plus to diagnose and get back to health our 18 month old labradoodle. I was advised to call dr Lopez as I left the hospital devastated...and I'm so happy I did. Dr Lopez told me to collect my dog and come immediately to him... He stayed open late and immediately went to work to both diagnosis and care for our precious girl... The care is superb and the total charges came to $1500 far less than what would have been spent at the hospital. The first thing you notice when you walk into the reception area is the great big poster on the wall; Dr. Lopez has been featured on Dr. Vet Los Angeles, Nat Geo Mundo, a TV celebrity Vet! Plus you can find him on YouTube. The memorabilia is charming to most of us also. The best part is that he brought back my injured dog from complete paralysis to being able to run and jump. In a panic, wondering why my kitty was acting a little strange and quieter than usual, I called Dr. Lopez and he has me bring my baby girl Minnie to the office. He quickly checked her out and found she had a fever and a large stomach area that needed to be examined. Minnie stayed overnight so he could do an exploratory on her. Dr Lopez was always in constant communication with me and sent me pictures of blood test results. She ended up having a procedure to take out her uterus when he found she had pyometra (puss in uterus). She was a bit slow to recover and was kept for almost a week at the office. We visited her twice a day and saw she was slowly recovering. We took her home last week, and she's back to normal eating on her own and playing with her big brother! She's our little miracle kitty! As devastated as I am to be writing this review, I feel I owe it to Dr. Lopez to express how grateful I am for everything he tried to do for my dog. My dog Daisy had been seeing another vet. We just moved to Anaheim and noticed her health started to deteriorate. One night she had a seizure and we called the nearest vet we could find. Dr. Lopez was willing to keep his office open a little longer for us to take Daisy in. Dr. Lopez ran his tests and gave us not so good news about her health. He gave us medication to get her through the night but by morning she just couldn't hold on much longer. I cannot find the words to express the level of sensitivity Dr. Lopez and his staff displayed during this traumatic time. I truly believe he did everything he could for my dog. Thank you Dr. Lopez!I have a 1 1/2 year old neutered male rat named "Ga Chien" he came down with what we believe was a URI yesterday. His regular vet office was closed and in a panic I searched through Yelp to find a vet. A few searches later and I found Dr. Lopez. I called and explained my situation and he took Ga chien in right away. When my fiancé arrived (since I couldn't go) Dr. Lopez saw my pet rat, confirmed he had a URI, and gave us the medication needed for him. He even answered all of our questions and then some.The price for everything was reasonable in my opinion and when your pet is sick you do what you can. I love Dr. Lopez. He has been there for my aging cat, Blessing for many years, & for end of life care for our big, sweet Rottweiler (after trying everything to help him heal first). Right now, he's caring for a kitten who took a 30-mile ride IN THE ENGINE OF MY CAR! Poor little Rollo has a broken pelvis, a fractured tail, & several lacerations. Thanks to Dr. Lopez, she will completely recover. He is amazing! I have been relying on Dr. Lopez for many years. He is the neighborhood veterinarian. I love the fact that he is close by. He seems to work more hours than others. He is extremely confident in his diagnosis and so far always right. He is a fantastic surgeon. His experience seems to be very vast he knows reptiles and wild / exotic animals as well as your domestic etc. I highly recommend him, he is not cheap but he is not asking to much. Read Less

I don't know about everybody else's experience, however my personal experience was excellent. The Dr was very military friendly with the proof of id. but he was fast, knowledgeable and gave my dog the medicine she needed to heal. the place smelt clean and looked very clean as Well. We first came here when we adopted our dachshund puppy, to have all his initial shots and checkup. Dr. Lopez and his staff were friendly, courteous, professional, and above all else, they showed lots of tenderness and care to our puppy! They handled him so well, and because of their great service we've never had a desire to bring our dog anywhere else. That was seven years ago.Since then, we've adopted another puppy (a morkie = maltese + Yorkie), and Dr. Lopez now takes fantastic care of both of them. We've also used their pet boarding service, for the times when we've gone out of town; we've used this service perhaps four times and have been very happy with them. Other services that Dr. Lopez offers that we've had for our dogs include: neuter and spay; microchip implants; grooming; dental/teeth cleaning; and certificates of good health for airlines that require that kind of paperwork for animal travel.One thing I like to see is that whenever Dr. Lopez and his staff lean down to pick up our little ones, our dogs stand up into their arms -- they are quite comfortable being held by the staff members here; they don't wiggle around or try to get away; instead, they allow themselves to be carried and held, and that's very reassuring for me to see.I highly recommend Brookhurst Animal Hospital. They have been continuously improving their facilities over the years, including updating their signage and their interior as well. Dr. Lopez cares about his business, and he shows this every time he takes excellent care of our dogs. I have taken both of my dogs to Brookhurst Animal Clinic to Dr. Lopez. I have a Maltese mix that is allergic to wheat and has very sensitive skin and eyes. She is prone to eye infections and requires a higher level of care than my Terrier mix. Dr. Lopez was the only vet that was able to clear up her chronic eye infection. I have been to three different vets in Orange County and found that his pricing was fair and was consistent with the rates that the other vets charged. His service was superior for treating eye infections. I believe in this doctor and his skills. I have recommended him to my friends; one was looking for a surgeon to perform the surgery to correct problems caused by hip dysplasia. Dr. Lopez performed the surgery and did a brilliant job. I have had up to 9 dogs at once. Use them for Pet Therapy. This means I have tried many different vets and hospitals in Orange County. Ive never been satisfied with any of them.I heard about Dr. Lopez from my mom. Dr. Carlos Lopez is friendly as soon as you walk in. You can tell he really cares for the animals.He is one of the best vets out there. I go to Dr. Lopez when its other than a regular grooming (just because is a little far from my house) . He can diagnose what my pets needs are right away. I even had a friend come here after she had gone to different vets to diagnose a problem and Dr. Carlos Lopez knew exactly what the problem was and saved her dog. Dr. Lopez saved our sweet cat’s life. One day he stopped eating and was vomiting. We took him to our regular vet, who did x-rays, and said he had probably eaten something that had upset his stomach. He told us to use a different cat food, but Maxie still wouldn’t eat, and he became so weak he could barely get up. Our neighbor recommended Dr. Lopez. It turned out that Maxie’s pancreas was very inflamed and he needed medicine. Dr. Lopez treated our sweet cat so gently, you can tell he really loves animals. He put him on medicine for his pancreas, and gave him an I.V. to get his strength up. He literally brought him back from the edge. His fees were very reasonable, much less than we’ve spent at the emergency for other pets in the past. We have two dogs and a cat, and Dr. Lopez is our new vet. Read Less

He overcharged me for less than hour of work (total was over $500.00) and my dog still died. I DO NOT recommend him. He also ripped off my sister. We were talking about the place and found out she was ripped off by the SAME PLACE less than 2 weeks earlier. My poor doggy. If only I went somewhere else....Not to mention the receptionists are EXTREMELY rude. I was rude back and got my way with her, but do not go here. this place is a rip off!!! i will never take my animals there ever again. the facility is disgusting. it's like a Tijuana hospital, filthy and shady. they charge you a crazy amount for procedures and then when you have to take you animal back less than a day later because their work is half a$$ they blame you and say okay well we'll take care of it and then charge you a second time after the procedure is done. this place is awful, never again! these animals are like your children, for their well being go somewhere else...
