**Be aware of your final 'check out' charge they bill you for, when picking up your dogs from boarding.** I recently boarded my 2 dogs for a 5 day stay, and was quoted and even confirmed my quote of $288 a couple of times prior to drop off. When I picked up my dogs, the girl at the counter told me my check out cost was $320, which made me furious. She told me it 'looked like they charged me for an extra day stay', then as I looked at her computer screen to understand what happened, she changed her story to, 'actually, it looks like they never exited the screen when we gave your dogs their influenza vaccines, and they charged you for an extra influenza vaccine' (which is $23.) This made no sense to me, as $320 - $288 doesn't equal a cost difference of $23, nor does my almost $53/day boarding cost. So get your estimate in writing or know the name of the person who quoted you prior to drop off. Read Less

We took our 11 year old cocker in at midnight last night because it looked like she was having a stroke. We were greeted by a very concerned and competent tech, taken into an exam room quickly, and in an instant the doctor arrived. Dr Craig Fujioka could not have been nicer, more professional, or caring. He diagnosed the problem immediately---a vestibular event common in older dogs. In order to rule out any serious underlying cause, he recommended blood work, but left the decision up to us. The results were quick and useful, and based on the findings, Dr Fujioka prescribed a course of treatment and provided comprehensive discharge instructions. Today our sweet gal is back to normal. I'm frankly a bit surprised to read some of the negative reviews. Our experience was better than any vet we've ever been to. It is true, they are a bit pricey, but to be able to have emergent care available 24 hours a day comes with a cost. For us, it was entirely worth it. Read Less

I would love to rate this clinic on the smiling faces inside. But, their parking is way over capacity. They have dog classes outside, people parking under a bridge on the other side of the road - in the dirt.So, I probably won't return. About 2 weeks ago, my sister transferred her kitten (who just had surgery) from another hospital because this hospital had 24 hour hospitalization. When she got there the kitten was fine, one of the techs came to the front to take the kitten to the back so she could be examined and be in the proper medical care. My sister waited a whole 2-3 minutes to be put in a room so she could meet the doctor and for future plans for the kitten. The vet came in with a very happy face and very bubbly (at this time, my sister was thinking everything was fine)... the vet introduced herself and proceeded to tell my sister that the kitten stopped breathing, they did everything possible and that the kitten died... KEEP IN MIND THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 5-6 minutes.... all the vet said was I'll give you some time after my sister broke down crying... the tech came in and no condolences given, but of course the first thing she mentioned was how much the cremation was going to cost and if she wanted she could do a private cremation.... This hospital is ALL about money and nothing else. My sister didn't feel very welcomed and the vet and tech tried to hurry her out. MY SISTER REGRETS TAKING HER TO THIS HOSPITAL! I will continue to tell my friends and family to stay away from this hospital for that particular reason. Also about 2 weeks later we took our other cat in for a check up and had a horrible experience with Dr. Wong. She seemed to be in a hurry, didn't take the time to listen to our cat's heart and proceeded to talk about a stool sample (AGAIN MORE MONEY). Dr. Wong just seemed rude and didn't take the time for us to feel welcomed. We came here because it's closer to our house, but we will be making the extra drive and taking both my cats records and returning to Cottage Pet Hospital in Anaheim. Read Less

The doggie adoption center after my dog was killed started to tell me the horrors of this hospital which is now operated by VCA! Just as bad!!! Johnathan Cortez killed my dog. Told me he had a brain tumor and told me he was not operable. They said nothing they can do. They said I need to make the humane decision. You trust your doctor to give you the right decision. I have a cat and had a dog, they were very non compassionate when our dog passed this week and during the process of having her treated they acted as if they didn't care, when we brought her in deceased because she passed away at home; before we could get her in due to them not caring of her crucial state and not taking us in earlier, the lady announced dead on arrival over the PA In front of patients. Everyone at Yorba Regional is terrific. The service was fast and staff was very helpful and seem to love what they're doing. I saw a surgeon for a consultation and she was more thorough than my own personal physician is with details etc. I drove almost 2 hours to use this facility as I know what wonderful work they do! I love our Vet Dr Lee she's the best. But all their Vets are wonderful. We have been coming to Dr Dunbar since he was at the other location. We have received the best care for our pets. We recently had to board our 6 mth old Labradoodle and were worried about it as she is so young. She had a great experience, they spoiled her when I came to pick her up she was happy to see me but went right back to the technicians. I loved the web cam that allowed me to view her throughout the day. I highly recommend boarding with them. Read Less

I was really impressed with how the staff and Vet were able to keep my cat so calm during the exam. They put a towel I brought over her and she felt so safe. They were very professional and the environment was clean. The staff explained all the needed treatment for my cats dental, a lump that needed to be removed, and comb out of a section of matted fur. The best news was that they gave my cat an antibiotic shot that would replace a pill for 2 weeks! It is SO hard to get this cat to cooperate. So they did me a HUGE favor with that shot. I would say the prices were reasonable. I was quoted for a dental at another hospital for $800. I payed about $700 here for everything I listed above plus all needed vaccines. There is also Credit Care (a credit card) I applied for and was able to use that to help pay. I also love the social media aspect. I was able to post my pets pictures on their Instagram. It's fun to see everyone else's fur babies as well.Read Less

I appreciate the fact that there are a lot of reproductive services offered at this hospital. However, in all of the visits that I had for my bitch to be bred, to include semen evaluations, a series of progesterone testing, and dual TCIs, I never received a single follow up to check up on my animals. In fact, my bitch who was bred developed a slight kennel cough afterward, presenting a lot of questions for me, and in calling, I got the voice mail multiple times, and never received a call thereafter. I love the staff at YR and won't take my pets anywhere else. Not only are they the go-to vet for my favorite rescue, Boston Buddies, but they have given exceptional care to my dogs and cats when needed. They have boarded my 2 dogs, and provided caring, supporting services when dealing with unexpected emergencies. It is such a relief to know my babies are in good hands when we have to leave them. I love the Dr. and the staff, it all depends. I had Rabies vaccines for all my dogs and when I got home I realized the wrong information on my Chihuahua (need to send the paperwork to OC animal control) had my Maltese information on it. Frustrating. Today I called for price on my dog who has worms. All the woman could tell me is the amount of the visit and the rest ( de worming and fecal test), her answer was 3 times for the question I was asking "I don't know, doctor has to see the animal. Again, I can't tell you till doctor see the animal." Geezh, I just don't want to walk got with $400.00 later. I just wanted an estimate. If I could leave a negative star I would. Brought my cat in to have an anal gland expression which would normally be less than $100. Over $1000 later, his anal gland ruptured. On the first visit I told the nurse and doctor that my cat had a history of anal gland issues and that the symptoms were just that. He wasn't eating, drinking a lot of water, not using the litter box and very temperamental. They took him to another room and came back and told me it was not his anal glands. He is 14 years old and normally very active so I figured it was something else as the doctor insisted. They told me they wanted to run some lad work, an X-Ray and Ultrasound to check for issues. The X-rays looked fine and they told me they had to send the ultrasounds out and a day or two later I get a call saying that the ultrasound is normal. The Lab results also came back normal. They said if he doesn't get better in a day or two that I should bring him back in. 2 days later, I did just that. This time they charged me again for a check up and some shots as well as some prescription medicine that would bring back his appetite. Later that night to our surprise, our cat's anal gland ruptured. We brought him back in and again was charged a visit fee and other fee's for his anal gland rupture which I brought him in for in the first place. The original doctor was out and I had mentioned that this was the reason we brought him into the office in the first place. All he could do was apologize and not charge us the $40 visit fee. We moved here from South Orange County and we normally take our cat to Tallega Animal Hospital but wanted to find a hospital locally. Would have saved a lot of money if we would have taken him there in the first place. This place seemed to cater more to dogs, all 3 times I went in not one person had a cat or other animal in there. They treated our family with the upmost respect and compassion as we had to make the toughest decision any pet-owner has to make. They provided a private area to spend time with our dog in his last moments and ensured he passed with dignity and comfort. I believe quality-care is proven by how well you are treated when things aren't going as planned, v.s. when things are running smoothly. This place is at fault for the death of my "Pregnant" English Bulldog! (8 puppies died also) 10 days before giving birth I took her in because she was having difficulty breathing and sleeping. She would breath as though she was exhausted, so my wife and I took her in during emergency hours. The vet said she was normal and that I shouldn't be concerned. 3 days later she died. I took her to them so they can check why she died... They said her belly was to big and might have caused her heart to fail. Why didn't they tell me this when I took her in the first time and give me an option to keep her or the babies alive???? I emailed the owner back and forth, and came to the conclusion that they do not care for the animals, it's a business. They got about $850 from all the visits. All I got, my heart broken from losing my precious bulldog along with 8 puppies in her belly. Very disappointed with this place! Read Less

Honestly.. The only reason I am giving this vet hospital any stars was for one of the ladies that worked there... That's it. Our 3 year old pup was hit by a car this weekend and was in pretty bad shape. We rushed her down to this vet hospital and upon arrival, they were quick to grab our puppy and bring her in... However.. They stated that there was a $300 fee before they would even look at the dog. They treated myself and my puppy like it was just another dog that was going to die. Money was the only thing this hospital gives a $hit about. They lack compassion and professionalism. When the time came and I had to make the decision to do what ever we could for the dog (and still not know if the puppy would survive) or to have her put to sleep... I stayed in the room praying with or sweet puppy. As this was taking place, one of the nurses was asking the other gentlemen that was with me "how we planned on paying the bill." I was absolutely stunned at how these people act. I plan on doing a follow up with someone in a higher position. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that. Sadly enough, I have to tell my kids why their friend didn't come home that night. I'm sure the hospital doesn't care.. They got $1300 out of it. Pathetic. However, our 3 month old pup will not be forgotten. Neither will my experience with these scum bags. I will give kudos to the woman who thanked me for my service and let me know how crushed she was on my behalf. As for everyone else that works there.. They can pound sand. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Dunbar for over 25 years. My 15 1/2 year old Yorkie (Chewy) was diagnosed with Kidney failure over a year ago and the outlook was not good. After blood tests, urinalysis, consultations, etc. Dr. Dunbar started a regiment accordingly. He has managed to keep our Chewy going longer than we ever thought possible with a better quality of life. Dr. Dunbar always returns my calls (no matter when that may be), if a particular medicine or treatment does not work, he will research other options. I now give Chewy his daily medicines, IV fluids (150cc) everyday from home (per Docs advice) to clear his kidneys from any toxins, his blood levels have improved two fold!!
