General Info
Treatment protocol at Abbey vet hospital (Antioch) begins with an assessment of the animal’s posture. A caregiver will then be oriented on how to hold the animal, pivot in corners and remain still diagonally for the session to be effective. Approach is possible only with explicit invitation from an animal. Instead, the staff employs soft curves with the prop and subtle diagonal shifts of the body. The method decreases natural startle responses, building a foundation of trust for orientation. Caregivers sit at 90-degree angles to the animals (for triangulation) when animals need to ascertain their medical comfort presence. Before any tools appear, they monitor the blink rate and paw arc balance. Abbey Vet Hospital provides imaging services and early onset detection methods alongside management of chronic illnesses through cardio screening and gastrointestinal alignment to guarantee age-specific care. Access tolerance sequences service delivery. Some animals prefer being touched on the flanks first before they let a person pat their head. Instruments placed on the floor ready for use and practice enhance response from others. Discharge routines include re-orientation techniques targeting the owners on how to walk the pets in a calm zigzag motion, angles for inspection of home bandages and positioning bedding from corner-trapping. The techniques reduce flight behavior as well as spatial confidence loss as soon as the pet is back to its known territory. Abbey Vet Hospital extends its care from Antioch to every corner of California by integrating the treatment into an animal’s perspective—turning what could be a disruptive visitation into something that speaks their natural language and flows through the angles and spaces they understand. The team provides expert services in various areas, such as Allergy Testing, Anesthesiology, Bloodwork, and Boarding. Clients consistently commend the practice for its commitment to care and the personalized attention it gives to pets’ needs. From routine checkups to intricate surgeries, the clinic ensures that your pet receives top-tier care in a serene and welcoming setting. Advanced treatment options such as Dental Care, Dermatology, Deworming, Diagnostics, and Emergency Care are available.

This man has absolutely no compassion for animals! I wont even call him Doctor. I walked into his office trying to get help for a dog wandering on 18 avenue, if you are familiar with Antioch you will know that it is a very busy four lane road where cars travel way over the posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour. This little dog was obviously well taken care of but would not come to me - i was just asking for someone to help me catch this dog before he got squished by a car. I'm sure he would be glad to treat the dog ( to the tune of thousands of dollars ) after it gets hit but wouldn't lift a finger to prevent it from happening. He said I AM NOT ANIMAL CONTROL. Very rude as he was to clau H. Told me " Do not bring your dog here".You are a veterinarian and should show some compassion for animals. He didn't seem to be all that busy just sitting at the receptionist desk when I walked in. I took my cat to Abbey Vet clinic for a teeth cleaning and blood work. After reviewing the blood work results, the doctor diagnosed a urinary tract infection. Also, during the teeth cleaning procedure, the doctor extracted two teeth from my cat's mouth. For this reason, the doctor prescribed two antibiotic bottles for $68 each 15 mL. bottle for the post teeth cleaning, tooth extractions, and for the urinary tract infection. Later, when I was in process of getting my pet back, paying all the fees to the office assistant, and checking if my cat was awake and responsive because of the anesthesia, I forgot to check if the medication that I just purchased was new and properly sealed. Instead, I was carefully listening all about the instructions on how the medication should be administrated to my cat. A couple of days later, when I finished the first antibiotic bottle, I noticed that the second and last antibiotic bottle was opened and tampered, and the bottle itself really looked dirty and old. I was surprised because the outside box looked nice and new., and as you can imagine, most of the small bottle liquid content was spilled inside the box. Then, I called to the office and the doctor himself answered. I explained the situation, as well as I explained that I was willing to come to his office to bring the old and sticky bottle for he to see. However, he even didn't let me finish  when he told me to forget about it, and told me not to dare to come to his office to return the opened bottle and to get a replacement. I was shocked about his  rudeness and I immediately thought that I was talking to a dishonest, evil, and cold vet doctor who didn't care if my cat was going to have the necessary amount of medication to recover. I must tell to every pet lover my unpleasant experience with this doctor, so you can consider about bringing your pet to this doctor who only cares about money. I think he over charged me not only for the procedure, but for the medication, injections, vaccinations, and etc., And on top of that he gave me a bottle of medication already used to treat other customers' pets. Finally, I think that he is very rude about treating and handling pets. Thank you. Read Less

My granddog, (standard poodle) just had surgery today. Dr. Shetty and his able assistant Melissa did an outstanding job. She had cysts I wanted to have removed. When I first visited to get Phoebe checked, Melissa noticed that her she had gum problems, too. I would never have noticed that. I felt the price was VERY fair, and their treatment of Phoebe was very caring and compassionate. THANK YOU, Dr. Shetty and Melissa. I now trust Phoebe in their care now. Please check them out. I have brought my pets here since I was a child. I have shopped around Abbey offers a quality health services and vaccinations. I bring my terrier mix and tabby here for their annual visits and vaccinations. The prices are the best in the area and Dr. Shetty never tries to trick you into spending more than what you are wanting for your pet. Dr Shetty is kind and always patient with my pets as well. I have never been here for a medical emergency but I have been here for my Terrier's ear infection caused by a foxtail, she was sedated and we experienced no complications. I would recommend Abbey to my friends and family. Read Less
