Have you ever had to put your four-legged friend to sleep? No matter what the circumstances are, it is usually a pretty tough decision and heart-breaking, right? My 13 year old lab was with me since he was a pup. We had been through everything together. Thick and thin. The best and the worst. He always stuck by me no matter where I moved, who I lived with or what job I had. When he got cancer, I wanted to give him the very best treatment. This vet recommended nothing but putting him to sleep. I got a second opinion from SAGE (who is wonderful by the way) and they gave me another year and a half with my buddy. He did well too. He wasn't sick and miserable. But when it was time, I knew it. I considered calling a vet to come to the house, so it would be more personal and he wouldn't be as anxious. Based on the price and dealing with his remains after, I decided to take him back to this place instead. A part of me also probably wanted to show this vet how much longer my dog had lived because I didn't take their advice. Plus, I thought, I only needed one thing from them. How hard could it be? First of all, I made an appt. much earlier in the day and they said they would get me right in when I arrived. I knew I would be a wreck and didn't want to just sit there in the lobby sobbing. Do you think they got me right in? Uh no. When I was finally called in, my dog was also a nervous wreck (panting and shaking). The assistant that helped me said she was going to give him a shot in the leg to calm him down. She stabbed a giant needle into his back leg causing my poor buddy to cry out, whip his head around, bite me (5/10, but hard enough to break the skin), and look at me like "how could you let her do that?!" Then a minute later, he just lied there with his eyes open and tongue out but still breathing. I could tell he was mentally gone already because of whatever the assistant gave him. I got so angry I told her to leave and get someone else to give the last shot. Someone else did and it was all over. Can you imagine spending 13 years with your four-legged best friend and having your relationship end like that?? He had never bitten anyone before, let alone me. And I will never forget that look in his eyes. He looked so betrayed because I held him down and let this woman hurt him so badly. I later learned from other vets that this first shot my dog was given is 100% unnecessary and was likely given to drive up the price of the euthanization. There were no apologies from this vet afterwards, and I was too upset to argue or fight them on the bill. However, I will never step foot in there again and will never recommend this place to anyone. They appear to be more worried about themselves than the pets they claim to help. Read Less
