Best veterinarian clinic in the high desert hands down. I am a breeder with over 11 years experience and have been to many different vets over the years but none even come close to the expertise and knowledge that these three veterinarians at this office have. Dr. Velasco is a man of integrity and a man of his word. And the staff truly do care about each and every animal that comes into their office. At this point I won't go anywhere else even though it's a 35-minute drive from my house. That's how confident and comfortable I feel at this place. Read Less

Trinity loves the staff at Bear Valley Animal Hospital, today was her annual checkup, not her first visit here, now I read alot of reviews and people complain about not having money and being refused to be seen or have tests done due to lack of money, the staff here loves the animals and treats people fairly. To the people that leave bad reviews because you can't afford to have the pet seen, you wouldn't order a pizza knowing you can't pay for it and order it anyways, it's a legitimate business as all businesses are. I trust Bear Valley Animal Hospital so much that I make the drive from Palmdale to have my girl seen despite moving a year ago. Read Less

I have been going to this hospital for two years now and was referred by a family member however initially we had a pleasant experience until this last December. First of all velasco always calls in sick I have only met him once and he only talked about his laser treatment that he can charge x amount of dollars for. No problem i get it he is running a business but it has nothing to do with my dog. So the reason for 1 star isn't his absence or talking randomly about things that doesn't relate to our pups but because the staff there is a talking robot which I feel in my heart killed my Bella pug. We just celebrated her second birthday in October and she was due for her next rabies so we went in on a Saturday during their clinic days and we were the first ones there at 9 am. We were only going to get rabies shot and Bernadette recommended us to get x y z because it's highly recommended so it's my job to protect my dog as her mom so I said ok we will do that. Within minutes of the shots Bella stiffened up and fell over then throwing up as I caught her.  Im panicking the tech is scared she ran into the back and said velasco called in sick we have no vet here so we are calling in the back up in the mean time she needs oxygen and Benadryl per velasco and we won't charge you. The back up dr gets there and ask if Bella has had anything to counter this "reaction" one tech said no and I said yes and told her. So she gave her two epi pins to try to counter this and at 10:30 I was back in the room holding my Bella pugs body crying because she had died there. The dr then told me don't ever give your little dog more then one shot at a time it is too much on their body and it could kill them. It's rare but it happens so if I knew this we would had only done one shot however this money hungry place puts their business before the pets health in many ways !! They did pay for her ashes and paw prints and the vaccine company paid for an autopsy however I was still charged for the shots. When I picked up the ashes no one said I'm sorry no sympathy or empathy they gathered the box put it in a bag and handed it to me and said thank you. I was disgusted and mortified I trusted my baby pugs life with these people who are only there to collect a pay check. The results came in from autopsy and I had to ask for it and wasn't able to see these results but was given a post it note with the rabies shot name and said it came back inconclusive, I in my heart feel like it is possible she had a reaction however my gut is telling me something else happened that resulted in the death of my Bella pug. We will miss her so much and it's still hard on my family especially my 7 year old daughter who experienced her first heart break. Think twice before you trust this place. -Alicia Huete Read Less

We adopted a dog from the Apple Valley Animal Shelter and were told that he would be sent to the vet either Wednesday or Thursday to be neutered. They said the vet would call when he was ready to be picked up. Thursday afternoon we still hadn't heard from the vet so we called. They said he had been there since Wednesday and we would have to pay a fee for keeping him overnight. They claimed they called and left a message on my husband's cell phone, but he had no messages. I argued with them and told them we had been waiting for a week for this dog, and we wouldn't have left him overnight if we knew he was ready! My girls were waiting for him to come home! They ended up waiving the fee (clearly they should). We opted for the c-collar and the antibiotics, and it's a good thing! When we finally got to see the dog, he had bloody snot, was breathing heavy, and was clearly sick. He hadn't been sick Tuesday when we adopted him! They seemed not concerned at all. They (the technician) said, "Oh, he has an upper respiratory infection." They couldn't be bothered to get the vet to see him. He had already locked his incision opened while in their care and needed staples. Ugh! We took him to our vet, Dr. Ahmed at Hesperia Animal Hospital and they put him on a broad spectrum antibiotic (the one he was on wouldn't be as effective for the respiratory infection). Finally, the whole experience at Apple Valley Animal Hospital took an hour. To pick up my dog? Seriously? I would never go there again. It's clear they didn't care about this dog. Read Less

I am so happy I have found this place! I had always taken my dogs to banfield until I started rescuing strays. I brought my first stray to Bear Valley Animal Hospital and the staff was all around great. From the front desk to the staff in the back, they expressed great customer service and worked out pricing with me since I was rescuing these guys and just trying to get them to stable conditions. Every other vet I have tried has always tried to add unnecessary procedures to my visit, at BVAM they do just what is needed and even suggest remedies you could try at home. So happy I have found such a great and trustworthy vet for my own fur babies as well as my foster ones! Read Less

Stay away from Bear Valley Animal Hospital. I have no problem spending money when one of my babies is sick, but this place is terrible about draining you dry and doing nothing substantive to help your pet. My dog spent one night there and they performed tests/procedures I didn't authorize so I'm out $1,000. When I picked her up there was no doctor on site to explain what they found. She was still very sick and the only thing they could tell me is that they had ruled out what they thought the problem was. Never again. Read Less

We have been coming to Bear Valley Animal Hospital for about two years and all the bichons frisés have gotten quality care. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I know the pups get nervous and they go out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as possible for us. All the vets and techs are super people; they call and email to be certain that their little patients are doing well; they ask if there is anything else they can do. We purchase food for special diets and if one isn't working, we may return the remainder and try another. I have never known another full service hospital that gave such wonderful service and care. They apparently don't like cats or cat people. I have been trying to do my neighborhood a service and fix a local female cat (before the landlord kills her) and her kittens... using donations from several charity groups for cats. When I brought the mother cat in, it was explained that I might wind up having to pay up to $100, even after the 2 vouchers I'd been granted. I did not have that much money. In frustration, I began to walk out because I was frustrated that nobody seems to really care about cats, even veterinarians. She TOOK OFFENSE. I then tried to stop her and asked if she understood that I was just making a generalization (and that I didn't know her or the vet personally and wasn't addressing them personally). But she could not be sated. She needed to explain just how offensive it was to every single vet and to everyone who works for them, that I might suggest some vets don't care about cats. I raised my voice to the level she was looking for and decided to 'ask me to leave'. Like the man of honor I am, I stood my ground for a while and even unloaded some of my biggest criticisms of humanity on her. Nevertheless, no kittens were helped, or will be helped by Bear Valley Animal Hospital. But I would not trust my babies (or even strays) with people like that anyway.

I am so sick of them taking every dime they can for injuries that you are set back at the price. A laceration $600.00 really? But what can you do when your dog is already there.

Read Less

Very professional staff; always courteous and helpful. Excellent vets with good "bedside manners"; knowledgeable and also use common sense. Comfortable reception area as sometimes there is a wait. State of the art equipment to provide support care. BVAH was recommended to us 3 years ago when we moved to Apple Valley; we have since referred others who are very pleased as well. Read Less
