Love every experience I've had at Northfork Veterinary. I've had two dogs have extensive knee surgery one from Dr. Dill and the other from Dr Sheriff. Both outstanding vets. Very knowledgeable and always fair on pricing. Kathy is amazing too! They even have a great set up for those of us that have children. They have a cute play house with individual vet offices right next to it that have doors that open up halfway so you can watch your child and have your pet examined at the same time. I drive all the way from Sacramento just to take my dog here. These vets and staff are top notch! Read Less

Love Dr Sheriff- I only wish I could give 10 stars! I took my dog to him for 2nd opinion after wasting over $800+ at loomis basin who had yet to diagnose and wanted more specialized testing...I never once felt rushed nor unsure with Dr Sheriff. He broke every detail down and looked at every possibility to determine my dogs injury with out extra unnecessary test or cost. My dog who's not been eating for two weeks, and yelping when picked up and I felt was slowly suffering or dying was with in an hour of leaving North fork with diagnosis and treatment for injury my dog was eating and wagging his tail and following me around like he used to! My dog had an injury that we didn't notice for about a week. By the time we got her in there, it was infected and gross. Dr. Sherriff was so kind and helpful. This place is only out for them self they tell you the most expensive treatment. Don't mention the other more affordable ones until after there first suggestion fails . Oh yeah and after they've already stuck you with a major bill for unnecessary procedures and the wrong treatment. They want me to bring my animal a member of my family back to them, so they can what guess again I'm sorry I think not. The vet has lost my trust and I hope others don't fall victim to there lies. So I gave them the benefit of doubt, and brought my dog there one last time. Thinking that they where fair and honest well after I showed up and they figured out what was wrong with my dog. They then showed me and told me that the reason my dog was unable to pee. While over looking the true problem they convinced me to have my dog cut. News flash didn't fix the problem and now my house furniture and everything else is covered in blood and urine. I have brought my dog to three other vets since and every one of them asked why they didn't treat him to shrink the prostate, before putting my animal who was already in pain it to even more discomfort. The only answer we could all come up with is they are like most vets and doctors who want a maximum bill. Now I'm out 900$ vet bill plus whatever I have to spend to replace stuff i my house because of there arrogance. After getting him the right treatment from a reputable vet he has stopped leaking everything thing and is on only one pill a day not the six a day north fork put him on. Needless to say my time trusting north fork vet has come to a end, and hope this review keeps others from falling victim to there false treatments. Read Less

Love, love, love Dr. Sheriff! He's done ACL surgery on both knees of our male Boxer. I went to him after a friend referred me, who's dog went through the same surgery. Dr. Sheriff is very friendly, knowledgable, and well priced. Our dog was having trouble with his knee after the second knee repair and Dr. Sheriff gave us a huge break on the cost of additional follow up care. I don't write many reviews, you either got to make me mad or make me really happy. Went there about 7 months ago and was greeted by the people who work there with genuine niceness. So far so good, took wife's cat in to be fixed and then for boarding twice. Every experience was perfect. My cat wasn't ( was NOT) freaked out upon picking him up, he was totally cool. We love this place. I will drive 20+ miles out of my 5 way to come here over anywhere else. Good job!!Read Less

Paws down, the BEST Veterinary Clinic my pet's have ever been to!After living all over CA and seeing many different Veterinarians over the years, I know that North Fork Veterinary Clinic is the best in the West. Dr. Sheriff has always been able to diagnose an issue with my pets by using just his hands and his mind (and education and years of practice...). I agree with the other Yelper's that he would NEVER recommend any additional tests to be run, or unnecessary procedures to be done, if he truly didn't think that they needed to be done. Also, ALL of the Veterinarian's that I've seen here are superb! Trust whomever you get.Dr. Sheriff and his staff are all looking out for the welfare of the animals. They do what they can to be as up front as possible regarding price quoting for surgical procedures. They have treated every single one of my pets over the years, from a simple spay/neuter, to chemotherapy for osteosarcoma, to knee surgeries, tartar scaling and teeth removal, and also basic wellness exams as my pets age. I only wish that I lived up here when one of my dog's needed to have surgery on his spine...!Take your pet here. You won't be disappointed. When you call, I hope you get Cathy - she's amazing! And if you call and get put on hold, just know that they are working hard on the other end. We took our Golden here. Yes they did shave him, at the tune of over double what we have every paid. Once we complained they lower it a bit but it was still much higher than anything we have every paid. Not happy that the hair between his toes was not SHAVED, which that is the biggest problem area for Goldens. Being a Vet they should have known better that just to trim hair between the toes. We were hopeful to find a new groomer and Vet but we will still be looking. Read Less

You would have to search long and hard to find a better Vet than Dr Sheriff is. His staff are the most amazing and compassionate group of people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I drive 45 miles to take any one of my 4 dog's there, and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Dr Sheriff has the most unusual way of being able to diagnose what is going on with your pet, just by what you described. He doesn't push you to have unnecessary tests done either. Dr Sheriff will get out his big book of animal illnesses / medical conditions and make sure you know exactly what is going on with your pet before you leave. Dr Sheriff truly cares about your pet. I have to give this vet only 1 star because I called two times! The first time I called I was put on hold for 20 minutes so I hung up! The second time I called I was treated with complete disrespect on the phone! I had a few questions on what to do with my little dog who has kennel cough, and asked her for her advice! She was very rude and just kept telling me to bring my dog in and then she could answer my questions, but I had told her I couldn't afford the cost of my dog being seen! I told her that we had visited family out of town which had two dogs with kennel cough & so I was positive that this was my dogs problem! I understand that most of the time vets can't do much for you unless the dog comes in but she could have been more polite in our conversation! So I'm thinking the best thing to do is to take my dog into a vet because that's really all I can do at this point but I surely won't be taking my pet to this vet! Read Less

My family has been going to North Fork Vet since I was a kid. Now in my late 30's with 2 dogs of my own who are very special needs and geriatric I wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Laura is patient and thorough with her exams. She treats all her patients as if they were her only patient. The staff is so accommodating and understanding. They do their best to get back to you promptly, work with your schedule to get you an appointment. I make the drive from Rocklin to Auburn for all these reasons. Read Less

My father took his dogs in to be boarded for a week or so in July, which he paid in full for at the time of service (why else would he have gotten his dogs back??).He said the service was good, and the dogs were happy and refreshed after being there, however they are now trying to bill me for the same services he already paid for! I do not know how they even got my name?? They need to get their bookkeeping fixed! When I get a dog, if I ever need to board him/her, I will not take them here to be boarded. Read Less

I Love this place. The new North Fork is such a wonderful space - Dr. Sheriff and his staff are the top of the line. We take our dogs there and have always been treated so well. When our old dog needed help, they were there for her and made her last days bearable. I've never had to put a dog down before, but when it came time, they were so wonderful to us and her. I really look forward to taking our dogs to them. I'd never go anywhere else!HERE"S AN UPDATE: one of our dogs was sick and Dr. Laura said surgery was needed. I DID go somewhere else, for a second opinion... I spent the whole time saying to myself "well, this isn't like North Fork.." or "If this had been North Fork they would have done it this way.."
