Dr.Jaime is amazing. We drive almost an hour since moving to still see her. She is very honest, upfront and lays out all the options with care and concern. We saw another vet that was closer to us and basically got the run around and showed up to Dr.Jaime with our cat and found unknowingly he was not getting any oxygen. Despite the review left by another pet owner about not feeling pressured into unnecessary work, we were pressured. We came in for the first time with our older dog and after I explained what some of his past issues were we were bombarded with questions. Everything from vaccines, to flea meds to additional lab work. I usually don't cave in to those pressures,as we all have been to a vet that can be pushy but the vet continued to push that additional lab work costing hundreds more. Claiming that "this looks like a dog that has this" After leaving the room, I called my husband to we could talk about the additional cost and when the vet returned, there was more pressure. She claimed that she was almost certain that there was a problem and with this lab work we would see. I was told I would get the results the next day. Instead of calling me, she called my husband (whom she had never met) and told him that the lab work came back with nothing. When I called in, she claimed it was issues from fleas. My quote over the phone for a simple visit and minimal blood work was going to be about 175$, walked out with spending over 700$. I will not be returning. Read Less

I LOVE this vet! The office staff is incredible! They are extremely friendly, very caring and accommodating. Extra kudos to Shannon! We've only been to this office a few times, but she greeted our foster dog by his first name as soon as we walked through the door; she was especially kind and compassionate from our initial phone call to schedule the appointment until we checked out. Of course, the veterinarians are also wonderful, they spend quality time explaining your dogs situation, your options and after care instructions in great detail. Dr. Jamie spent time rubbing our dog's belly and telling him how cute he is. That put him at ease and helped him build trust with her. I can honestly say I've been to every vet in Auburn, and they are by far my favorite. We have been to many vets in several states for our dog Scout.  Without question South Auburn Veterinary Hospital is the best we have ever experienced.  They are courtious, caring, knowledgeable and reliable.  I appreciate that we have never been encouraged to complete more than the bare necessities of care.  Rather than encourage costly procedures, they have always been quick to prescribe simple interventions for our problem prone dog.  (These low cost solutions that have always worked for that matter).  My wife and I enjoy the staff, finding them friendly and able to accommodate our questions... Which I admit are likely hard to answer as both of us are medical professionals and we tend to appreciate details more specific than would be expected.  We started taking our dog to SAV on the recommendation of a friend who also takes their multiple animals there.  I'd like to pass on that recommendation to anyone seeking an exceptional family of veterinarians and staff.  Thanks for taking great care of our pet SAV! Doctor was kind.. But no one told me about any cost before they charged up $209 on just an xray... Now I had to leave my baby there and I don't know how to pay for it... The front desk girl was unhelpful and unwilling to work with me.... I will never go back.... And I have no clue what will happen with my chewy..... Edit update : they kept him overnight at no additional cost. They've worked on him and fixed him for only the original $208... Ok ok these guys are better than I thought... I might come back. I'm very sorry to say that I lost my beautiful cat Scrambles because of an unauthorized vaccine given to him on Saturday by the South Auburn Vet Hospital. I had just had his shots given to him at the spay and neuter clinic in Auburn when he went there for an office visit just last week. But they weren't open Saturdays so I took him to SAVet.  So he got a double dose of rabies and the FVRCP vaccine. My son took him in for me and all I wanted to do was have his nose checked out, & I had told them that on the phone. They bamboozled him into getting the shots. They should have called and asked me permission since I am the cat owner They are completely unsympathetic and are still actually charging me. We are heartbroken. My poor kitty. Read Less

After visiting a few vet clinics in our area, we decided to give South Auburn Veterinary Hospital a try. So glad we did! Very courteous, concerned group of staff members. The doctors are more concerned about the care of the pet and the office staff is willing to work with us on payment of services. My daughter had to take our dog in, but didn't have money and they allowed me to call in to give a credit card number over the phone. It was so nice to be treated with respect. Over the years we have been bringing our dogs here.  This by far was one of the best Veterinarian facilities around. Our dogs were always taken the best care of. The staff at one time was exceptional. We are sad to write dissatisfying review; however, if we do not share the truth no one will know the poor customer service, rudeness, unprofessionalism around. We feel our pets (which are like our children) should be treated with love and compassion from the Veterinarian.  Unfortunately, like many other businesses it's all about the $ not the care. We brought our dog in approximately 1 1/2 weeks ago. The female (name unknown) veterinarian drew blood to inquire why our dog was having problems with hair loss on the back half of her body. To our great surprise no problems per the Veterinarian. We are following up with a second opinion with UC Davis Veterinarian as the hair loss continues. One thing the Veterinarian did say was our dog was getting older and her hips were starting to fail based on the type of breed she is. Hip surgery was an option, however the Veterinarian advised against it as our dog was going on 13 years of age. The Veterinarian recommended Carprofen for the inflammation and pain. We were advised the Clinic was  out of the medication and we would need to do a few days for the pills to be delivered to the Clinic. The veterinarian did recommend giving our dog aspirin and gave us a wide dosage. The veterinarian advised a hard copy of the prescription was in our dogs file and when the medication came in we would receive a call. We gave our dog half of a 325 mg in food. We called today asking about the prescription. My husband spoke with Stevie and was told the prescription was not available nor ready and under no circumstances would the prescription be e-mailed to him as originally promised by the veterinarian since we no longer live in Auburn. Stevie shared we l would receive a call back this afternoon. My husband called right back as Stevie was extremely rude and abrupt. The next gal whom answered the telephone was Sarah. Super polite and shared a couple things (she was on speaker phone as was Stevie) one the prescription will be e-mailed over within 20 minutes and apologized for the original response from Stevie. Sarah was not throwing Stevie under the bus. In fact we believe she felt there might have been a misunderstanding between what Stevie and we discussed. At 1:39 we called the veterinarian clinic and once again spoke with Stevie (on speaker phone). We shared we were advised at 9:45 by Sara the prescription would be sent over within 20 minutes. Stevie said there was a prescription in file; however, under no circumstance would she or anyone within the facility e-mail our dogs prescription as she told us this prior to speaking with Sarah this morning. We again shared we no longer live within the area. Because of the rudeness we shared with her we will be at the Clinic within the hour. We walked into the clinic and have had to wait now for over 30 minutes and the clock is still ticking. Stevie tried pushing us to purchase the medication through South Auburn Veterinarian Hospital and did not have the chart copied as she promised via our telephone conversation. If there were a zero star button instead of a one star we would. How sad instead of trying to resolve the customer service (we have many friends and family member which frequent this establishment) problem the establishment is willing to lose our business and many others we know. Please Note: If the service was like it once was the hour plus drive is well worth it.   We understand employees come and go. Please make sure to hire employees who are a. I can not begin to express how thankful i am for this fantastic hospital and all their amazing staff! We went through a very sad and challenging past year with our animals. Dr. Ted & Dr. Jami were so wonderful to us. We are beyond appreciative of all their staff; Shannon, Les, Stevie & Sarah. Dr. Ted treats us like family. He is such a caring, compassionate and intelligent Doctor that thinks outside of the box when looking to find the best options for his patients. I recently moved and can no longer use this vet unfortunately. This was my family's veterinary clinic for 15 years. They're all good people and they really cared about my animals. The best example I have is when my kitty sprained her foot. Dr. Ted came in on a Sunday to take care of her. They aren't even open on sundays. This place is amazing! I have taken 3 cats here for various things and they have always been awesome. The staff is really friendly. Dr. Veling is knowledgeable and informative and really strives to get to the root of the problem. They also try to make it as affordable as possible and have really reasonable fees. I would highly recommend you take your animals here. I am moving to Sac so unfortunately I will probably have to find a new vet, but I like them so much I may just deal with the drive and stay with them. Read Less

Rude desk staff. Unwilling to refill Heartgaurd for my pet even though I just had my dog for her yearly checkup three weeks prior. At that time I asked the Vet three times about getting a blood draw for lab work and was told it was not needed. Now the office clerk is telling me that they cannot dispense the Heartgaurd without getting lab work and I will need to come back in for a blood draw. I will never go back to this office. There are plenty of Veterinary offices in this area. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Read Less
