ZERO STARS! RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM CASH-GRAB OFFICE! Otherwise you will continue to LOSE SO MUCH MONEY with every visit. The All Critters vet, Dr. Mahal, is always looking for ways to UPSELL you on services (often involving SEDATION) for your pet that are completely UNNECESSARY. Don't be fooled by his slow/soft voice, he's a businessman; his mind is FIXATED on how to get as much money out of every patient. I have, unfortunately, had to retain him as my two dogs' vet due to other vets in town not accepting new clients and because my original vet moved out of state (I, now more than ever, miss my original vet). I have a reminder in my phone every 2 months to call different vets in town to see if they're accepting new clients or not; sadly, they still aren't. Dr. Mahal continues to accept clients despite being over-capacity; he takes 1 hour to see you after your scheduled appt time EVERY visit.
I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO COMPLAIN HERE: https://www.vmb.ca.gov/consumers/comp_inf.shtml
I brought my male puppy in Oct '21 for a check-up. I asked Dr. Mahal to observe his walk for any signs of abnormality. He said he possibly has hip dysplasia or knee problem, and exams must be done with the treatment being an operation. I said no thank you, and took my pup home. He is a rottweiler; they sway when they walk, it is a characteristic of this breed. I'd also mentioned I give the pup Cosequin supplement for healthy bone growth, and he said I shouldn't because the dog gets enough from kibble. Cosequin is highly recommended by many vets. It appears this vet would rather plant the seed now and have the pup grow up with problems so he'll have continued business in the future addressing more issues of the dog.
I brought my female dog in Dec '21 with the concern she may be pregnant. After I informed the vet of her heat cycle start/end dates, he did the math and we realized she was completely out of the window period for possibly being pregnant, yet he spins up an invoice of roughly $600 to sedate her and perform ultrasound. He will NEVER say "You know what, I really don't think you need to do all that, it'll be a waste of money/unnecessary trauma to the dog." I have to be very careful with my words when I describe to him my dogs' issues, in fear of him latching on to some point to use as a reason for having to perform unnecessary exams/treatments. Even when I REPEATEDLY highlight to him all other aspects of the dogs being completely normal/healthy (stool, energy, etc.), he'll still drive toward unnecessary exams/services. I declined the unnecessary exams/services.
I brought my male dog here again in Apr '22, for a simple ear infection. Dr. Mahal charged me roughly $700 for so many services. The ear infection returned a few weeks later, and I called the office about it 31 days after the treatment date and they said if I had called within 1 month then there wouldn't be a follow-up fee, but now there will be. I bought Zymox and it fixed the problem permanently. The ear cleaning his office did could've been avoided if I knew about Zymox before. This vet would never suggest something so simple and low-cost, as he prefers for his clients to keep returning with problems, with our pets being the ones to suffer so he can continuously earn money.
I brought my female dog here in May '22, for a typical 'pink eye' infection. This guy spins up an invoice of more than $600 consisting of totally unnecessary exams (one was to see if she accidentally scratched her eye). This is outrageous. I declined all the services, and accepted only the antibiotics- these fixed the issue in a few days, and that's all that was needed! My picky dog is also on a hunger strike for WEEKS now refusing to eat kibble, yet will easily devour multiple bowls of anything tasty like chicken/rice. I pleaded to the vet many times to get her on the Entyce medication which stimulates hunger (little side effects). His assistant had to go to him in the back-office 3 times to get him to agree to approve Entyce. He finally approved and I was told to order it from a third-party, then the vet will approve it on his end when they contact him electronically. I ordered the medicine online from Chewy the same day, and after 3 days of ignoring the prescription he declined it! They said to bring the dog in for blood work, then they'll approve it. Why did you guys LIE to me at my original office visit when you said you will approve it? I went today for the blood work, and the bill was $321 and they will need to SEDATE the dog to draw blood from the jugular vein lol! I said I need to return in a few days after confirming if my insurance will cover it. They said there will be a follow-up visit fee if I leave and return another day for the blood work. HOLD UP, didn't you guys tell me for my other male dog that there's no follow-up visit fee (when he had his ears treated) if it's within 1 month? Yet for this female dog it's been less than a week.
