Just brought my barrel horse home after spending 2 weeks at Panama Equine Hospital. I had been battling a rear hock wound for 2 months without any luck. A very sad day today. Made as good as it could get by the WONDERFUL folks at Panama Equine Hospital. Dr. Pipkin is a marvel of common-sense, horse knowledge and caring. I cannot say enough good things about my first-ever visit to them. My poor boy had to be put down due to a fluke intestinal deal and the wealth of knowledge that Dr. Pipkin personally conveyed to me plus the personal touch from all of the staff was amazing. Dr. P was caring, spoke to me throughout every step, every test and told me what she was looking for, what she saw, the good/bad, his chances and options and was upfront about costs so that I could make an informed decision. She kept me involved and tried her darndest to save my boy (she is no quitter). She also gave me the information I needed to make the right decision when the time came. She spent a lot of time even though we were an emergency and she had a fully booked day at the clinic. She called me personally multiple times throughout the day, never rushed me and answered every one of my questions plus gave me incredible insights and advice. I called on a Saturday left a message and was called back fast. The care and love they have is top notch. I never had used them before but for my horses they will be the only way to go. I felt like they where working on there own horse. Such care to detail. Read Less

SEVERELY disappointed in this vet. My horse started colicing (basically an intestinal problem in horses that can be fatal) in the evening so my only option was emergency vet care. I called around to a couple vets to see what my options where. I called Dr. Pipkin and asked if she could come out to administer oil and banamine to help calm her and flush her out. She told me that I had to bring her into the office and she did not do ranch calls and I would have to leave her overnight. I said thank you and continued calling other vets as there was no way my horse was going to make it in a trailer across town without laying down in the trailer. After calling a number of vets with 0 luck it seemed Dr. Pipkin was my only option. I called her again to ask if there was anyway she could come out, this time she was seemingly frustrated as I was interrupting her evening and I needed to decide if I wanted her services or not. She said that she would come out for a ranch call but if something else happened she would not come out again and I was on my own. I was extremely torn by this because I couldn't afford to put her in the trailer, and if I had her come out to the ranch I had one shot. I asked her if I could call her back (I was crying at this point) while I talked it over with my husband. At this point she told me I needed to decide if I needed her because if I called back she would not come out because she needed to have an evening too. Please note during this time my horse was only getting worse. At this point I was beyond frustrated and I decided to hang up the phone which meant that I "could" not call back. It is beyond me why someone with obvious disregard for the life of an animal decided to become a vet. You signed up for the job and all that comes with it. Thank god my horse survived the night through help of gracious neighbors and myself. I will NEVER use Dr. Pipkin for any of my pets large or small. Since this occasion I have heard numerous bad things about this vet.Read Less
