Omg, I LOVE THIS PLACE...SUCH A GOD SEND. The vet is so knowledgeable & the prices seem to be a little lower than other vets I've used in the past. I love that there's NO BARKING DOGS TO TERRIFY & Freak out MY CATS. Thus fact alone sets this veterinarian apart from all the rest...as she only treats cats. They also have a wonderful gal who gave my cat "The Lion Cut"...& she didn't need to sedate him!! WOW!! How she did that, I don't know, but I was so grateful. She cleaned- up & groomed my poor big, matted, Fur- baby and he looked so cool afterwards. Like a little black lion. ❤❤🤗 They also sell local honey!!! It helped clear up my allergies. I initially gave them 5 stars because they ARE great with cats, however, I downgraded because there was no confirmation call on my cat's appointment for a second resp. vaccination, so I missed it (yeah, I get it, its just as much my fault as it is theirs......yada yada), but the professional courtesy would have been nice. Our rescue kittens are a little over 4 months old now and over night one got sick then the next day another was acting sickly. I called our vet and as usual they had no openings and as a walk in you pay $30.00 more, 2 cats to look at, I didn't know if the other 2 were going to end up sick too. Looked on the internet there was Serenity Cat Hospital. We haven't had any cats for over 30 years I was really glad to find this place. They are so nice and comforting to the our little... kitten. She gave us enough medicine for all the kittens if the others get sick. No extra charge for not having an appointment. I realized why their name seemed familiar. I had seen their name for years when they rented a building by Molly J's. Their place on Taft Hwy east of Wible Rd. is so much more accessible, and everyone is very friendly. Dr. Mattias was very comforting with Fluffy our little kitten. Now since we could not find homes for the little ones and are now attached to them I guess the Doc will be seeing us from time to time. Felt like family the moment we walked in. Dr. Cherry was more thorough with the exam than Bakersfield Vet Hospital was and was half the price. My cat had an unknown infection and Dr. Cherry was willing to try and get a culture without sedation and was willing to wait for lab results before trying to treat it, thereby saving me $200!!! They also offer quotes for services before performing said services, unlike Bakersfield Vet Hospital. We sat down together and came up with a treatment plan that was reasonable and affordable. She is very reasonable and really cares about the animals. It is not about the money. I love this place and will never go anywhere else!!! Read Less

Dr. Cherry is the best! You can tell she loves the animals and it is not about a paycheck. She was way more thorough with my cat than Bskersfield Animal Hospital and it cost me 1/2 the price!!! Pros:-These folks really love cats, which makes me feel secure that my cat is in safe hands.-Very reasonable costs for services. My cat was neutered for $65 and I got all of his shots (including boosters, rabies and feline leukemia testing and vaccine) for $125. -The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about cats. They made sure to let me know what brands of flea shampoo are safe and won't irritate my cat's skin.-It's relatively quiet. Waiting room wasn't very busy both times I was there.-Flexible scheduling. They were able to fit me in pretty much any time I asked for. When I forgot to bring my cat in on a Thursday morning, they called me that day and told me they could fit me in that afternoon. I asked to be rescheduled for the next morning, and they accommodated me.Cons:-The office smells slightly of urine, which I suppose can't be much helped. -It is located on Taft Hwy, which is a bit out of the way for some folks in Bakersfield. Again, this can't really be helped.-When I brought my cat in for shots, they did not invite me into the exam room. I've been asked into the exam room during my other veterinary experiences (at Banfield or Mt. Vernon), so I was a bit surprised that I was expected to wait in the waiting room. However the exam room is adjacent to the waiting room and I could hear everything that was going on in there, so I felt my cat was safe. He's a whiner, so if anything is upsetting him I can hear it. He was fine throughout the examination, and I could hear the vets verbally comforting/reassuring him. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for all cat owners who want their cat to have a safe, friendly experience for a relatively low cost. Read Less

I am a cat/kitten magnet, so I knew it was FATE when I found that my neighbor at the Home and Garden Show was Serenity Cat Hospital. 2 weeks later I found 3 kittens that a mama had rejected due to her litter being huge. 2 were still alive but I was having a difficult time getting them to eat. Took them to Serenity and the doctor was patient and kind enough to sit with us while she fed both of them with a nipple that fit on a syringe. She went over every important detail we needed to know about how to keep these babies alive. She is a life saver! So glad we were placed next door to each other. Read Less

Serenity Cat Hospital staff were professional, patient and caring. We had a wonderful experience. The vet, Dr. Mattias, is one of the most knowledgeable vets I have met specific to cats. We brought in a "formerly feral" pregnant cat we'd rescued that was terrified of new people. Dr. Mattias and her technician knew how to handle her and remained calm, and super compassionate. They are some of the biggest cat-lovers I have ever met...On our most recent visit (spay), the receptionist Donna, personally obtained a discount voucher for us from The Cat People. Her kindness & special consideration nearly brought tears to our eyes. I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND this vet facility for all cat care needs - including boarding. After having a less than enjoyable or satisfying visit to my veterinarian (actually a new doctor had taken the place of my "old" doctor), I was so distraught I sought this place out the same day.  I went for an in-person visit to see how they treated cats, to see if they spent time calming down distraught cats (and mine hate the carriers, hate the car) etc.  I actually cried in the office I was so angry and upset that the vet I just paid hadn't done what I think should be done - the people at Serenity were so good to me.  I wasn't a paying customer, I didn't have an appointment, yet they were just great and I will take my cats there in the future. Great cat hospital.  They were able to get me in the day I called and were really compassionate about my 6 year old cat's ailment.  They gave treatment right away and with gentle hands.  They were very upfront about how much everything costs so you can plan for the expenses.  The office is going to call me tomorrow to ask me how my cat is doing.
