As busy as Dr. Zachary is--and he really does have a very full schedule--as far as I am concerned, he treats every animal as though it were his own pet. He is the most informative Vet I have ever met, and he is intensely thorough. He is as loyal to and caring for his patients and their owners as they are to him. My name is Babushka and Doctor Zac has been my doctor for the last 96 years. Im over 103 years old now (thats over 14 human years), and Doc Zac has ALWAYS been there for me. He is kind, gentle, and very caring, very empathetic. The staff is top notch also and has always gone above and beyond in making me comfortable wether its a short visit or an overnight stay. Doc Zac has always been able to see me in a hurry if I really needed to, in fact my human tells me I get better health care from my doctor than he does from his doctor. And if my human does not understand something Doc Zac will explain it to him until he does. He also has this really neat table that I can ride. It goes to the floor so I can get onto it and it lifts to a comfortable height where I can talk directly to the doc with out looking up all the time. When were done it takes me back to the floor. It also guesses my weight but as a girl I am never as heavy as it says I am (as to this whole weight to height thing I have never been overweight, Im just not tall enough). The only thing I really dont like about my doctor is where he sticks that thermometer. Its probably the most accurate way of getting my temperature, but really, my human is standing right there and its so embarrassing (although I do have a problem holding it under my tongue). Im getting old now, my legs are not what they used to be, my eyes are dimming, and my hearing is going dull. I have for the most part stopped chasing cats and squirrels, and sleep most of the day. My family and I have been taking our dogs to Dr. Zachary for close to 20 years now and he and his staff are the most friendly, knowledgeable, and reliable veterinarian group I've ever had the privilege of knowing. Dr. Zachary and his staff are excellent! While the person who wrote in was unsatisfied, it is only because the Hospital is indeed full! Because Dr Zachary cares about his patients, he knows when his clintele is full. He provides 200% care and consideration to his clientele. He will not compromise that care by stacking too many patients on his schedule. We have gone to Dr Zachary for 20 years and he and his staff are the absolute best. I hope this negative person is happy with her Vet and gets over this negative bashing. I am sure he/she would have been more than happy if they had been able to bring their pets to Sillect Animal Care Hospital. Dr. Zachery and his staff are fantastic.  I had a dog that was misdiagnosed by two other veterinarians and he was the one to finally get to the root of the problem and help him.  He is patient and calm with animals, regardless of size.  (I have had veterinarians ask me to muzzle my giant breeds simply because they are giant, without ever having seen or met the dog.)  He always takes the time to provide all of the information I need to make an informed decision regarding my animals' care.All things considered, Dr. Zachery and his staff are top notch. I love this vet.  Dr. Zachery is such a nice man.  He's professional, but very friendly and relaxed.  The other staff have always been very kind and efficient.  It's usually not difficult to get an appointment, but I've heard rumors that they aren't accepting new clients, so that may be why.The location isn't all that convenient, but it's totally worth the trek into the back roads behind the Crystal Palace.I wouldn't dream of taking my pets anywhere else.  I have complete trust in Dr. Zachery and know that my dogs will be happy and healthy because of him. I adopted a dog from the Animal Shelter. The dog was a little thin but had a normal review and was healthy enough to spay the day before I took her home. Once home she ate well and begged very well! Three days later a family member took her to Dr. Zachery at Sillect Care Animal Hospital for the routine first checkup. As expected, the dog had symptoms of a mild infection typical of dogs from the shelter. Dr. Zachery prescribed an antibiotic. Within two days the dog had stopped eating, had diarrhea and vomiting, and died. My family and I were devastated! I checked online about the antibiotic and found that the dosage he prescribed was for a dog weighing 20 lbs. My dog weighed 7 lbs. A few hours after my dog died I asked the office to have him call me and he told me he prescribed for how much a dog SHOULD weigh…not for how much the dog actually weighs. He said my dog should weigh 12 –14 lbs (that is a major amount of weight gain for a 7 lb dog with a normal review a few days earlier). Even so, that dose would have still been about 30% more than recommended by the manufacturer. I’ve never heard of prescribing medication by “guessing” what an animal should weigh. When I questioned this practice he told me to “stay off the internet…only listen to doctors” and got angry and said, “I don’t have time for this crap” just before hanging up on me. Dr. Zachery is the best vet in Bakersfield. He is very knowledgeable about animals, reasonably priced and a nice guy! His staff Anne and Jennifer - are great and they were always able to fit my pets in when I needed an emergency last minute visit.Honestly, his superior vet services and great attitude are one of the few things I missed after I moved away from Bakersfield.Great vet! Apparently they are so wonderful and amazing that they are not accepting "new clients" at this time. Here is the deal, I already have a vet at Coffee Road Animal Hospital and they are THE BEST! I find myself in a situation though where I need to have my cat neutered ASAP. My first choice, MY vet, has no availibility for 2 weeks. So I called several places, this was my very last (due to other references of theirs). It has to be done for my cat, or else I would never call them. BUT THEY ARE NOT TAKING ON ANY NEW CLIENTS... THEY HAVE TOO MANY! Boo hoo! The woman on the phone acted as if I was calling for a supply of liquid gold only given to the finest of clients... Kaiser isn't even this rude over the phone. I WILL NEVER CALL THEM, NOT EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY FOR MY BELOVED ANIMALS... THAT IS HOW HORIBLE THIS LADY REPRESENTED HER PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT! Read Less
