You could have a serious emergency with your pet, but unless you have a thousand dollars handy in your pocket they will refuse servicing your pet. Then tell you, I'm sorry your pet is going to die but without paying we can't bill you. Please find a better place to take your pet. I've been to their other location (Stiern Vet) and LOVE this location too!!Brought my most recently adopted furbaby here, and was seen by Dr. Love. She's so sweet and gentle (my dog is easily terrified). She spent plenty of time answering questions and concerns, and was definitely worth the trip. To anyone writing bad reviews- don't know if they understand how incredibly busy these two locations are. Bakersfield is growing, and it takes time to catch up on staffing. The receptionists and other staff keep you updated, apologize for the waits, and do their best to keep things streamlined. It's called PATIENCE people. I'm from L.A. so to anyone who thinks this is a bad wait time, PLEASE. Take yourself to L.A and see how that goes. They DO care, they DO try their hardest to accommodate, and they DO treat your furbabies as well as they treat you. Will never ever go to another vet. I'm here to stay. Tyson has been a patient of Southwest Veterinary Hospital since she was a kitten. In fact Donna has used their services for more than 40 years for many past pets. Tyson is now going on 17 years and acts and looks much much younger. We have found nothing but good service with knowledgeable Vets that truly care for animals. SW veterinary may not be the most glamorous vet clinic in the fanciest neighborhood, but your pets will be well cared for by good folks....and isn't that what really matters? Read Less

I'm so happy I found a reliable veterinarian I can trust!! Best Veterinarian in town! Took my dog Zoe today and simply had the best experience there. The staff is really nice and very helpful not to mention the Vet was awesome...he answered all my question and took his time to examine my dog thoroughly. Unlike other places that I rather not mention seems like they are in a rush and don't take the time our pets deserve. Read Less
