Took my dog for a deep dental cleaning and have to say, I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. Had to have a 19 year old mare put to sleep that had been with me from the day she was born. My vet had passed away some months ago and working with a vet I didn't know with a euthanasia caused a high degree of anxiety. Dr. Johnston could not have been kinder. good place, i took my guinea pig to get neutered and the staff was helpful. the building is renovated so its pretty nice inside and the wait wasnt too long. I did make an appointment 6 weeks in advance because there is only one vet that works with guinea pig neutering. I was quoted $140 for the neuter but was charged $170 when the procedure was completed. It sucks i was charged $30 more than i was quoted but the fact my guinea pig looks healthy and its been 10 days since he was neutered i can live with the extra $30 i paid. They even called a few days later to check up on how my piggie is doing. kudos to them. By the way, I called a ton of vet offices if they do guinea pig neutering and 95% of places don't. and the places that do charge you an arm and a leg. I had brought my 16 yr old chichuahua in because I knew it was time for me to make that unbearable decision of having her put to sleep, if it wasnt for the compassionate staff and veterinarian  I could not have done it!! Such a difficult time we went thru on our decision yet they made us feel so much better!! I just recently brought in my other furbaby and the veterinarian without any test yet could feel something in my furbabies tummy..My furbaby had already been to another vet 2x and it went unnoticed..To make a long story short surgery was done and they worked with me when  it came to paying !!! So glad that I brought my dog here! Last night she got her nail stuck in the carpet which ended up causing her a broken toe. I brought her in around 10:30pm and fortunately it was not busy so we got in right away. The staff was very nice, the facility was clean and the prices were very reasonable. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone with a pet they care for. I took my diabetic cat in to have a blood glucose draw and to renew prescription for his meds. He's been their patient for over a year. Making the appt, I was not told by the person who booked it that we have to wait 4-6 hrs after insulin shot to draw blood. Luckily it was 4. Waited forever for results while practically the entire staff waited on a pack of filthy, unkempt, wild nasty dogs, only to be told they do not have his medication!!  Whaaaat, Wait....Isn't this why I came here?!!  They kept sending me Emails reminding me that he needs blood work for his diabetes yet they don't have the ProZinc he needs to regulate his sugar!!  I am not at all impressed with the staff or they way they run their clinic. we have gone to these guys for years, and had always been very happy with the service and care for our animals we received until recently. this last experience has cost us almost $1000 at other vets to correct, put the dog through weeks of multiple surgeries and my wife was treated very badly by Dr Ryan. this my be the result of new staff coming in and old staff moving on. Dr Westbrook senior is always top notch. we recently took our dog in with a lump on her side. she was examined by a new DR. K and it was determined it was benign. she recommended that we have it removed if it got larger and when the dog was going to be in for a teeth cleaning. the dog did not have a drain installed nor given any antibiotics. she was majorly infected and required a second surgery to correct this. even though she had a temperature of almost 104 degrees, Dr Ryan implied my wife was being hysterical and that the dog would self resolve. A drain was put in this time, but too high up and the infection moved to her stomach and hardened. they did finally prescribe antibiotics and prescription dog food. they mistakenly gave us prescription cat food which we were told when we saw the mistake and called them, to not feed it to the dog because it could have killed her and that we should drive around Temecula to vets to see if they have the correct food. no corrective action offered from them. we then took the dog to Dr Bob Temecula Animal Hospital for a second opinion (he is really good but had not been available when we did the surgery) and to Butterfield Vets Hosp. for a third opinion, also excellent service and very competent staff that actually care about you and your pet. We finally had to have them do a third surgery to once again remove the infection. this ran us about $620 now. we were of course promptly billed by Banning Animal hospital, we did receive a follow up phone call three days after the follow up visit we missed with them and 6 days after the second surgery, but nothing after that. until they get their act togather, I would save your time, pet and money and find another place to go. I love this place. They go out of their way to show great care for your animal. I've been taking my dog here since I moved close by for they past 3 years. She's had tooth extraction, dental cleaning, torn ligaments, bladder infection, and normal check ups and shots. I can't say enough about this hospital. First staff is kind, works hard, cares about the animals and their humans! I lost my 11yr old dog Diego. Had to put him down after a seizure from congestive heat failure today I received a beautiful letter saying sorry for my loss typed but (signed by hand) from a handful of staff!!! Wow. Tear jerker but made it that more special that they actually care! In fact I called them today asking about care for my other dog, not knowing this letter was in my mail box. Danielle (I believe) was very helpful, reassuring. That letter alone showed that the staff and management go out of their way and put a personal touch on making the patients human feel cared for as well! ! The MOST amazing veterinary place I have ever been. I was recommended by a friend who takes her pets to Dr. Westbrook for years. I live in Rancho Mirage and the drive is worth it only takes about 40 minutes. My first time was last week when we took our 11 eleven year Lab Lily I called that morning and they got me in that afternoon. From the very first contact making the appointment to checking out was beyond an awesome experience friendly caring staff. I can't rave enough about Dr. Jade Johnston what a real loving honest doctor. The care and compassion she gave was heart warming. Our lab was really sick and we had no idea, we ended up putting her down just 5 days after we lost another dog. I took my 10 year oldPomeranian for teeth cleaning/extraction. Smooth easy process friendly staff and very importantly SUPER CHEAP with 15 extractions all lab work abx pain meds it came to 536$ they didn't add any extra. The minimum I was quoted elsewhere without extractions has been 500 and 1000 cap for extractions. They called the next day to check on her. Definitely don't nickel and dime you. Read Less

My dogs are new patients of Dr Ryan Westbrook @www.banningvet.com.  This Vet came highly recommended by a friend. We live in Orange County so it's quite a commute and well worth it! To start, the hospital is modern and clean. The team is courteous, friendly and attentive.  Our first consultation- Dr. Ryan spent a great deal of time examining , testing & consulting with us about our 11 year old puggle, Otis! My chief concern was a very large mass on Otis' back and side along with a laundry list! We identified five different procedures in order of importance. Surgery was eminent as one of his tumors at his throat was very serious . I could go on and on about this but to summarize, Dr. Ryan was able to perform all five procedures at once on Otis ! We are one week post op and we are so thankful everything went extremely well. Dr. Ryan proves to be an excellent surgeon with a very pleasing bedside manner and excellent follow up! We recently lost our beautiful Dakota @ 11 years old, (Australian Shepard) the day after Christmas. Dr. K was our doctor that day. She was the most caring, compassionate doctor we have ever had. She helped us make the very difficult but right decision for our baby girl. She cried with us as we put her down. We would like to thank her and the entire staff at Banning Vet Hospital for their compassion and care they provide. We have since recently rescued a little puppy, and chose Dr. K to be her vet. This is the best Veterinary! The really care about your pets. Dr Ryan was great with my Dog in my last visit. Banning Vet is being my dogs vets for years. I don't mind to drive from Wildomar to Banning to take them here. I know that they will do their best to keep my dogs healthy. I totally recommend them... the staff is very friendly and the facility is very nice and clean. I had some emergencies late at night, and they were there for my dogs, always willing to help. It is worth it the driving if you live far from the area, believe me. I recommend my brother to bring his new dog here, and he was very satisfied with the service and care for his doggie. How dare you tell my family to euthanize my dog while she is still running around. How dare you. We were told to do it within 4 days and we were hysterical. Thank God for second opinions. The doctors here should be ashamed. And they didn't show evidence of their decision. We saw no ultrasound and we're too upset by the unnecessary news that we didn't even realize at the time. AND they had no record of anything for us to take for the second opinion or information from a previous surgery. I don't know where to begin I had a feral cat living under my next-door neighbors patio I started feeding her it took me two weeks to catch her that I could see she had an injury on the right side of her body I named her I fell in love with her and when I caught her on New Year's Day I took her down to the vets when they opened at eight on Monday Dr. Ross called me later to tell me that her injuries were extensive that she had been probably grabbed by a big animal and the right side of her was crushed and she would be amputated if she even can make it she asked if I would relinquish her since the cost would be high and there's no guarantee she would make it she was all of 2 pounds I went down I relinquished her they put time and energy in her and two weeks later I took my cat in for a check up and there she was alive with three legs and Dr. Ross handed her to me I've never been so happy what a bunch of wonderful people down there and what a way to start the new year dr. Last year we brought our English Bulldog to see Dr. Ross. Ella was suffering but we did not know the cause. We had been to see another vet who suggested surgery. Dr. Ross walked into the examining room and immediately recognized that Ella was suffering from severe allergies. She prescribed a medication and by the next morning it was as if we had a new dog, she was that improved. She was no longer suffering and regained her energy. We just moved here from the beautiful central coastal area, with two dogs and one dying of cancer. It has been an awful experience getting to know a new city so far away from what was our home..with a sick dog. These folks at BVH have been kind, considerate, patient and understanding. Our beloved dog lived here in banning 2 weeks, then we had to send him over Rainbow Bridge. It was a painful experience for us but the doctors and staff were wonderful. HIGHLY recommend! UPDATE:  The Banning Animal Hospital and the (head?) Vet, Dr. Ryan Westbrook apparently has decided to deal with their horrific mistake that killed Smokey by their grossly uniformed or inadequately trained Vet and their lack of awareness about the important warnings on drugs they administer...  ...by NOT dealing with it at all it seems.  Ryan shook my hand on Monday, assured me that he would call the "Revolution company Head Vet" to discuss this, and get back to me. I told him that I wanted my almost $200 refunded, as I refused to have to pay them for doing something that killed my cat -  regardless of he says, that Revolution's FDA warning label included with the product that clearly stated, "Warning; Do not administer to sick, debilitated or underweight animals" he looked me in the eyes and said, I will call you later today when I have talked to them.  That was Monday about 1PM it is now Wednesday at 6PM the offices are closed and, not even the courtesy of a call yet, even thought I just left a message that I would like Dr. Ryan Westbrook to return the call he promised to make on Monday - TODAY! And to tell him that I have gotten the data he was calling for on Revolution myself.  I was directed to their website revolution4cats.com .  Took me barely 5 min to find the data to substantiate that the Revolution medical vet agrees with the warning, but apparently had made it in SIMPLE language on the main page of their website. IT COULD NOT BE CLEARER. "IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:Do not use REVOLUTION on sick, weak, or underweight cats. AND THE HAVE NOT EVEN SAID, "I'M SORRY YET" You were right this terrible accident will not happen again. I really appreciate this veterinary hospital. They are always professional and thoughtful. Above all they have been able to help me treat my 13 year old diabetic cat and keep him healthy. Due to their extended hours I have been able to take in my pets when I am not at work or when we feel like our pet needs to be seen ASAP. When we knew we had to lay down our 14 year old beagle a few weeks ago, It was late at night and this office is the only one we found within a half hour of our home that was open and charged a respectful fee. Today in the mail our family received a letter of condolences from Banning Veterinary Hospital for the loss of our beloved pet and it was signed by an astonishing 15 people on staff there. On top of that they sent a hand writ letter to us with all of the staffs signatures on it. It was a very hearty felt letter. My family and I have been going to this Vet for the past 3-4 years. We've had several large dogs and smaller ones that we have fostered. Dr. Ryan Westbrook has been our favorite DVM there, but have been seeing less of him in recent visits. The newer DVM's aren't as well known to us, but don't seem as friendly and caring as Dr. Ryan. The front office staff also don't tend to be friendly at times, but can be understood as it is a busy hospital. Overall, the costs are reasonable for the services received and I trust the staff with my animals.Read Less

its okay,its cheap i took my male mini pig thier and the female who was a pig doctor was so loving with my pig and my pig felt comfortable with her.she checked what i was feeding him and checked out the sun screen and lotion i was using and made sure it was all safe.but then i went back for shots and check up and the male vet didnt care to check anything i was feeding or puting on my pig to see if it was safe all he did was give my pig the shots which my pig shock and was scared to death after that so i wil no longer be going rhier unless the female is back Read Less

They maybe marginal if not on a holiday but Christmas Eve I took my very sick almost dying dog to them. They took his temperature and X-rays and blood work said he may have pancreatitis and sent me to an emergency clinic in Redlands the place was closed and did not open until 6. There was another couple that they had sent there too. When phoning Banning to say where else can we go the witch on the other side of the phone said "there is nothing more I can help you with". We have been going here for years. We started with Dr. Summers who was the new guy. He obviously loved dogs (some vets don't seem to). Our many Golden retrievers we've had over the years were treated with respect and kindness. We had 2 less than perfect experiences there but they were lessons for us. Our beloved dog died in their kennel at night while being observed. Dr. S told us he wanted to do an autopsy for educational purposes - to see what she died of. So we said yes. Big mistake. Don't ever get an autopsy. It doesn't bring your pet back and it will break your heart. He called us when he was done to pick up Scout because we wanted to bury her at home. When my husband went down to get her, she was all cut apart on the table with bloody instruments around her. We thought they would sew her up. They wrapped tape around her. A terrible last memory and then they charged us 70.00. We hadn't wanted the autopsy, we just did it because the vet wanted to see what had killed her. We didn't understand we would have to pay. She had inhaled a foxtail BTW. She was 5 years old. We still miss her 9 years later. The 2nd was another Golden of ours, 4 years old, who kept falling down. They suggested we get her an MRI. They said to have them check her neck which means they suspected something. We had to borrow 1800.00 to get the MRI in Orange county. Her breathing was so bad they put her on oxygen in the waiting room. She had a cancerous tumor in her spinal cord in her neck which was unoperable and we had to put her to sleep right afterwards. That was heartbreaking as we just thought she had something wrong with her leg. What also bothered me was that I believe in my heart they suspected cancer and should've given her an x-ray; told us it was cancer and saved us that debt. Lessons: don't get an autopsy and don't get MRIs. If your pet needs one it is probably going to die anyway. The positive side of Banning Vet Hospital is that they have taken care of our dogs all their lives and put them to sleep when the time came (except in those 2 cases). They saved our new rescue dog when he was bit by a rattlesnake twice in the neck. They've spayed and neutered our dogs without incident unlike our previous local vet who nearly killed Scout due to infection and cut her son's leg all the way to the paw 'looking for a missing testicle' when he was fixed. He wet the dog bed when he slept for the rest of his life so they must've nicked something else?? Some of you have horror stories on here but I personally have not had neglect or mismanagement problems with this vet and I have with at least 2 others. I think we've been with them since about 2002? So I am sticking with them. This staff is very kind. They always send a sympathy card (even with Mary who died in O.C.) and they would send Mac, another of our dogs, birthday cards that were quite humorous. A comment about people who don't pay the bill if their pet dies: that is dishonest no matter what excuse you tell yourself. To me it's like shoplifting. It's stealing. Maybe that is why vet bills are so high. Maybe the rest of us are paying your bill. Read Less
