This vet gave us s 4pm appt & treated our dog so well. He & his staff are real animal lovers . They went above & beyond. I thought foresure it was going to be $200 minimum....$75.00. Wow. THE BEST, period. Dr. T and his staff took special care of my bulldog for the first four years of her life. They treated her like part of the family. Dr. T treated our 2 cats exceptionally and helped us to keep our elderly cats as long as humanely as possible. One lived to be almost 15 yrs. and the other lived more than 20 years. He helped us through diet, meds. He helped us through very difficult challenges, as long as they were viable. Each lived through out own disabilities...one was blind at the age of 19 and survived successfully until she was 20+. He was dropped off, de-clawed, amongst a group of abandoned cats. He Dr. T then helped us to let them go when all avenues became exhausted.He was de-clawed and left abandoned with other abandoned cats.He was injured severely At the end, they informed us that continuing their very special lives would be so much more harmful and/or painful than the life they were living. He was able to break through our denial and provide our animal's reality. Both our cats had medications to relieve their pain and suffering, and when the pain meds overtook their ability to recover, he so very much helped us to let them go. As painful as this was for both our cats, he let us give our cats life until it was so much more painful than continuing to do so. And so we ultimately let them go. And after they left this world, Dr. T and his staff continued to give us comfort and help us grieve. I am crying mournfully as I write this memorial to our most fabulous cats that so enriched our lives. In the end, I believe they are better off. That is the only thing that gives us any relief. We are grateful that Dr. T recognized that our animals' pain would be so much more intense than continuing to be amongst us. We are moving forward and hopefully we will find our next rescue cat/s that need us. Because we really do need a new cat/s to rescue us. C & S Read Less

Dr T. and his staff are the nicest and most knowledgeable vet staff I have ever met!  We were visiting Bodega Bay and our Goldendoodle got a fox tail in her foot and it got infected. They were able to see us the same day we called, performed minor surgery the same day and diagnosed her with major food allergies.  Dr T put her on a veterinarian diet and our doodle became her old self in 48 hours. If there is a better vet staff anywhere in the world I'd be surprised. My cat arrived at their office necrotic and gangrenous, bacteria infested and horribly lacerated, his midsection a horrifying open wound that had been festering, rotting, putrefying for days-- just about to strike the iron knocker on death's door was this crazy kitty.  Yet this immensely talented and supremely caring group brought him back from the threshold.How do you thank people for saving a loved one's life?How do you show your appreciation for an amazing group of people who cared for your feline friend as well as they would attend to their own loved pet?My cat is now purring beside me as I write this, his entire abdomen shaved, heavy sutures holding his life together. He's alive, whereas many vets would have just put him down.And all of this for a reasonable price.Even if I move far out of the area, I'm going back here. They're CSI Bodega Bay good. Read Less

We are traveling and needed to get a staple removed from our dogs leg.We were able to come in the same day.  The staff were wonderful!Dr. T. is  fantastic.  He did not charge, which is unheard of.We were given a tour of the hospital, looking at the lab equipment, surgery room, ultrasound, recovery area's.  Very impressive.They treat exotic animals from  birds, deer, reptilesIf I lived in the area, we would take our 4 dogs and 9 tortoises to this office.Great place.Thanks for the care! Upon arriving at the B.B.V.H. we were met by a warm smile  ~Thank You Howard and a welcoming atmosphere.  Dr. Tapani is a wonderful, knowledgeable, caring, veterinarian.....Our cat needed immediate attention and he was there with open arms and such warmth toward our cat Taliesin.  He really helped alleviate the tension of being out of town with a sick animal.....Katie who administers Taliesin's laser therapy is such a gentle and sweet soul.....you can see her love for the animals emenating from her.  Howard is also a very attentive and caring soul.  Barbara the receptionist is warmly professional and a sweet person....I highly recommend this pet hospital for your animals.....be assured you will feel as important as your animal.....the Doctor is very intelligent and has an amazing way with animals..... Great place! Went camping and my dog got stung by a bee I than rushed him to vet. They took him in right away and gave him a shot to help with the swelling. Reasonable prices for the visit. Fast and clean. If I lived around here I would take my dog there for every visit. Read Less

If you live in the area but have not switched over to Bodega Bay Veterinary Hospital, you are making a big mistake.  We switched over a few years ago when they opened up and we are happier with them than we have ever been with any other vet.   The service and high level of competence is very reassuring to us.   It's very important that we get our pets the best care we can find.    Just recently, one of our dogs became very ill over the weekend.  He was clearly in a lot of pain.  We emailed Dr. T and he volunteered to meet us at his office on a Sunday, his day off.  He was able to provide immediate relief to our poor dog.  We left his office feeling extremely relieved and grateful.  We don't know how we ever got along without Dr. T and we hope we never have to again! I have taken two of my cats Bubba and Casey to this vet and while it's a bit out of the way for me to drive to Bodega Bay from Sebastopol (esp. With a cat in the dreaded carrier), once you find a great vet or doctor you stick with them. Great doc, very nice, great staff, answered all my questions, and my cats got better fast. I think the cost was reasonable. Wasn't cheap but it wasn't outrageous by any means. Follow-up visits were included in initial cost but i didn't need to go because the treatment worked right away. While vacationing in the North Bay, Samba came down with a tummy ailment.  To our great relief, we were able to see Dr. Trapani the same day we called.  He spent time examining Samba, took a fecal sample and analyzed it right then and there, prescribed amoxycllin , and thoughtfully explained what was likely to be wrong.  Events took the course he told us to anticipate: Samba felt better within hours of taking his first pill and was his old self again within twenty four hours. How lucky we were to find Dr. Trapani and his competent office staff!  Oh, and the facilities (we took a tour) are truly impressive. Read Less

I don't know who is more scared of vets, me or my dogs. However, Dr. T did a great job of explaining their issues and what could be going on without over medicating or doing a bunch of unnecessary tests. After "firing" my vet, I looked for another one for months....I was looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable vet with common sense. After seeing a recommendation on FB for Dr Trapani, it was an unhappy coincidence the very next day when I noticed my Boston Terrier, Brandy, had a bad infection in her gums. I called, was fit right in, and he even performed the surgery the same day. There was no surprise when I went to pay the bill--the estimate did not creep up at all.The Dr. took the time to show me, with skull bones, exactly what was going on with her mouth. We talked about ethics, and a lot of other subjects.At first, I thought going to Bodega Bay from Monte Rio would be too far, but I was there in 23 minutes! Closer than Santa Rosa!If you are looking for a vet that isn't all about the business of veterinary practice, but the actual care of the animal (and the animal at the other end of the leash, as he says--US!), then look no further.
