Brought my dog in because she is old and I had some concerns about her leaking urine and losing weight. Agreed to a senior blood panel, because she needed it. Got the results back quickly, which is great, and they showed a definite UTI plus low T4. She’s a 13 yr old Doberman mix, hypothyroidism is prone in Dobermans, no biggie. Vet called me with the results late Saturday. I was driving and did my best to talk with her. Called back 8am Monday morning to get antibiotics and start a culture on my dog’s urine as suggested by vet. Vet staff would not tell me how to proceed to get a culture started and would not help me get my dog started on antibiotics. They told me I had to wait to talk to a vet, even though it was suggested by my vet and they have all the paperwork. Called back at 3pm when I hadn’t heard from the vet. I was assured the vet would call. It’s now after 7pm, they are closed, and the vet never called. So now my dog gets to suffer for yet another day. Completely unacceptable! Read Less

I brought my cat Shay in for dental work. She needed extractions and the vet went over everything before the procedure. I was updated both when she was under anesthesia and when she was in recovery. When I picked her up she had some meds to take home and I was also given copies of her X-rays and a diagram on what was done. I also got a little stuffed cat with a plastic tooth that had Shay's extracted teeth. Does the tooth fairy come for cats? Read Less

Found a poodle my daughter decided to take it with her to colorado needed emergency visit for rabies and vaccinations to get. On plane they were accommodating and undetstanding.poodle was examined so well vet found a heart murmur and severe dental problems.which leads me to believe dog abandoned die to health issues which my daughter is willing and able to take care of Read Less

I have been taking my dog to this place for over 10 years. The staff is very friendly and the techs know their stuff. HOWEVER, the Vet is more interested in upselling services (blood work, shots, etc...) than understanding the needs of their clients. All I wanted to do was get a prescription refilled before going on vacation since I know it is working for my dog. The vet wanted to do blood work and also suggested changing the medication at this time. I said, "Can we just refill the prescription today and do all the blood work when I get back?" Most of the negative comments that I see relate to price, so let me state that this is not the cheapest place around. However, I did not feel ripped off or gouged in any way. They were up front about the costs before any treatment took place and they explained the pros and cons of each portion of treatment, letting me draw my own conclusions without any undue pressure. I have two large (and potentially intimidating to strangers) great danes, one with separation anxiety, and the up-front staff, doctors, and technicians were all very patient and helpful. Rather than trying to upsell me they actually worked to reduce my bill by structuring treatment in such a way that it would coincide with my wellness treatment plan (plans they use to defray large lump-sum treatments via palatable monthly payments). My biggest take-away was that Dr. Aberman actually spent a significant amount of time doing the initial exams and started a beneficial dialogue in order to establish not only my dogs' medical history but also highlight any potential future pitfalls. The staff is very nice and professional, but the prices are ridiculously high for the most simple procedures. Just for one x-ray, I was charged almost $200. The vets are well trained and they did good work when my pet was attacked by a neighbor's pet. But they really charge you up the wazoo for so many things. When my pet got ringworm and I went to pick up medicine for it, it was the exact same thing you can get in some dollar shops, and even said "cures jock itch" on the tube - they then charged me almost $30 for it! I have been to VCA several times with my lil pup. And every time I left with a HUGE bill FOR NO REASON. They would run all sorts of tests to tell me he was fine. They would totally guilt trip me into paying for them all because "what if" I was literally told about a dog who walked in looking just fine and died because they didn't get him the proper tests. GUILT TRIP! I would NOT recommend this vet unless you want to pay a ton of money for no reason.Read Less
