I normally always write good reviews and it pains me to write a bad one but some things need to be said about the business practices of this specialty clinic.Firstly, their care is excellent and your pet will be receiving expert care. But before you get an appointment you will be emailed their "contract" of expected behavior and rules. Follow it and all will be well, don't and your pet may be refused care and you may be exiled from their patient list! All appointments must be guaranteed by credit card in advance, you must get there 15 to 30 minutes ahead of your appointment else the appointment time may be forfeited. When you have seen the doctor the vet tech won't let you out of the examination room until you settle your bill.Sorry I broke out laughing when I first received their rules agreement, nobody does business like this in the 21st century especially if they are Veterinary diplomates ( specialists) why did I go along with this farce, because I wanted my pet to receive care. The animal eye clinic is a place I would pick to take my pet.  I called there and spoke to a member of their friendly and helpful staff.  I asked for an approximate cost to do cataract surgery on my dog.  Without any hesitation I was given a quote that allowed me to decide if I could afford this surgery or not.  I also called Animal Vision Care and Surgical Center in Studio City.  There I was told the only way to get an estimate of the cost was to come in and pay $175.00 for a visit with the Doctor.  I will not be going to Studio City for this procedure.  I suggest you go to Camarillo for animal eye care. If you want the best eye care for your pets Animal Eye Care Clinics is your go to. It's basically the Cedars Sinai for dogs. My regular vet referred me here because my dog kept getting corneal ulcers. Eventually it wouldn't heal with his treatment so I found myself at Animal Eye Care Clinic. The only downside is that it took two weeks to get an appointment so seeing my dog uncomfortable for 2 weeks obviously made me uncomfortable for 2 weeks. We arrived for our appointment and the front staff was friendly. They seemed to genuinely love dogs and they were even trying to catch a stray that happened to be roaming in the parking lot. That made a huge impression on me. It's nice to see a staff that really loves dogs and loves what they do. We saw Dr. Goldenberg and she did a thorough exam of Fedoras eye and explained everything to me in great detail. So much so that I didn't have any questions for her. I agreed to have the grid keratomomy done for my dogs non healing ulcer and because they don't double book they were able to do it right then and there in my appointment slot. We had a follow up appointment yesterday and I am happy to report Fedoras eye is completely healed. I can't thank Dr. Goldenberg and her lovely staff enough for taking such great care of my baby. The vets are great and your dog will be in good hands.  However, dealing with the front office is not often a very smooth road for clients. There are all kinds of pot holes such as scheduling people for a specific time and telling them to show up 15 mins early.  When coming from out of town and dealing with your beloved doggie's health condition and having to remember to show up 15 mins ahead besides a text message and voice mail which are in conflict with the actual time they want you to show.  There are other unfair practices I observed as well.  If you can follow their instructions  to the "T" and remain on their "good" side then you are golden.  Their place of business is in a warehouse and hard to distinguish among other businesses.  And the 101 is unpredictable at best.  Too bad for the front office and their adversarial policies and ways! It makes for bad business. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about Animal Eye Care Clinic. My dog was diagnosed with diabetically induced cataracts which caused him to go blind literally within a day or two. After a lot a careful thought and great, unpressured consultations, we decided on surgery.I took him in for surgery and everything was set up and ready to go, but Dr. daSilva looked at his eyes once more before taking him in. She saw a slight change in his eyes and diagnosed the onset of Vestibular Disease. Not only did she have the skill to see it at a very early stage, she didn't hesitate for a moment to cancel the surgery.  I was and am soooo grateful for her skill and integrity!  There's much more I can say about the care we received from Dr. Goldenberg, Todd, and Victoria. Suffice it to say, it was amazing! Read Less

The compassionate caring from the vet tech to the counter staff just flat out blew me away! I've had many, many dogs over the last 50 years and only one vet for the last 35. My dog Zoey (chocolate lab) was referred here by our local vet clinic, after her eye pressure sky rocketed, and they did not have the resources to tell us what was causing it, or how to treat it. I called to make her an appointment, and was told to have our local Vet call their office to let them know how serious Zoey's condition was and that they would try to get her in as soon as possible. They made us an appointment for the very next day! The staff are amazing! They are so incredible helpful, and nice! We got the chance to see both Dr. Goldenburg, and Dr. DaSilva, and they were so kind and caring. They are so knowledgable, and were able to come up with a treatment plan for Zoey. I really liked how they did not push me to have any of the blood work, or x-rays done at their office, because they thought our local vet might be cheaper. They also gave me information about a website to shop around for Zoey's medication and get the cheapest price, rather than charge me an arm and a leg for it, from their office. The staff and Doctors truly seem to care about the animals that they treat, and it shows. They have called me a few times to check on Zoey since her eye procedure was done a couple of weeks ago. They are always there when you have questions or concerns and are more than happy to answer them for you. Even our local Doctor can't get over how nice everyone is and how helpful they are when he discusses Zoey's treatment plan with them over the phone. I can't say enough good things about this office. I can't say enough good things about Animal Eye Care Clinics, I called with an emergency for one of my rescue dogs (Nikova) with Tails and Scales Animal Rescue and their front desk staff so kindly worked hard to squeeze me in before the day ended (and dealt with me in frantic panic mode!!), then Dr Goldenberg and her staff stayed almost 2 hours past close time to stay with Nikova to help get her eye pressure down and and get her eyes stable! (Which none of the staff showed any signs of being annoyed due to the overtime and comforted me and Nikova ensuring me that everything would be ok! All smiles and reassurance) Then they stayed extremely communicative with our local vet to ensure the meds are working and she will be ok through the weekend until we can get her back out to them next week for further testing! Thank you guys so much! We are so happy to have found you!Read Less

I have a dog with life-long medical issues.  When he suddenly developed cataracts (literally over a weekend) last winter, my vet advised me to see Dr. Da Silva.  I called and made an appointment, received all the paperwork (nice to be able to fill it out in advance!) and took my dog in on the scheduled day.I am SO impressed with everyone at this practice.  From our first check-in, to meeting Dr. Da Silva and her nurse, everyone was so kind to us, and really took their time with my dog and explaining everything thoroughly to me.  Because of my dog's health issues, Dr. Da Silva even got in touch with our other vets and "compared notes" to make sure my dog was getting the best possible care and treatment for his eyes, along with his other health issues.  We have had one follow-up visit now, and will continue to go for regular check-ups as recommended.  But what is really nice is that they will review my vet's notes on my dog's eyes and get back to me with recommendations, so I don't have to drive him over an hour every time we have a question or concern.  I love this practice - it is such a relief to know there are kind, compassionate and very thorough doctors and nurses who truly care about my dog.  I cannot say thank you enough! I live in Santa Barbara and have a 10 year old beagle who 6 days ago basically mysteriously went blind in 3 only days. After following the advice of my local vet I called this eye clinic to schedule an emergency apt for my dog. She couldn't be seen for 4 days, but I took the apt anyways. The appointment was scheduled for 8:30 on a Tuesday. Although they said they were going to send me an email confirmation I NEVER received one from them.  The day before I did receive a reminder text however that confirmed my appointment for 8:30 the following day. On my way down to Camarillo at 8:25 (I was literally pulling up to the clinic)  I received a phone call from the clinic informing me that I missed my appointment because I was instructed to show up at 8:10 not 8:30 to fill out "paperwork". Not only did I never get this "memo" but if they wanted me to get there at 8:10 why not make the appointment for 8:10!? The two women I spoke with were rude and unhelpful on the phone and one was the manager. My poor dog who has lost her vision needs to be seen asap and they were unwilling to to be helpful or remotely compassionate.  If they try to charge me the $160 fee I will definitely be disputing the charge. I will not be taking my beloved dog to this clinic. Which is sad for the vet who works here because he or she might be great. But the staff who works here is rude and unreasonable. I will be driving 30 mins longer in the opposite direction to the clinic in Arroyo Grande to seek care for my dog. I advice anyone else to do the same. Read Less

I always read reviews before I go anywhere and usually take reviews with a grain of salt because I know with the amount of clients and customers places see, there are bound to be unhappy customers and one-off situations. After experiencing this clinic first hand, I am assured that the negative reviews on this clinic are one-off situations. We were treated very well at this clinic by not only the wonderful receptionists, but by the vet tech and both doctors. They were kind, reassuring and took all the time in the world with us. We weren't rushed whatsoever and in fact, Dr. Goldenberg had us take the torch and look in to our puppy's eyes to see what she was talking about. It was so wonderful to be treated so professionally and with such great care.Dr. Da Silva is pretty much the peppiest vet I've ever met in my life. She was incredibly personable and went over the paperwork a second time with me so I understood her diagnosis. Then after all was said and done she noted the direction I was going in and stepped outside to give me easy directions back to the highway.I am blown away by my experience here. I wish we could see these vets regularly! Thank goodness I don't have to, but if I did, I know I'd be in good hands.Thank you to the entire staff for being so wonderful! Read Less

This clinic has received glowing reports and while our experience with the medical staff was satisfactory at the time of our initial visit, our overall experience may provide a warning to those who would like the freedom to pursue second opinions and alternative treatment options.  Our experience with this clinic has shown that they do not take kindly to second opinions or alternative treatments beyond what they consider appropriate. We took our dog for an initial consultation and were given surgical options for treatment.  After hearing our options we then sought further guidance from our primary vet and decided on a different course of treatment--relieving the pain in the eye medically without surgery.   We have been extremely pleased with the results: our pet has been thriving and has shown no signs of pain or discomfort.  She has been a happy, playful dog on the medications our primary vet prescribed.  We thought all was well until one day we received a call from the specialist at this clinic telling us that she had the legal right to register a complaint against us with the Humane Society for animal cruelty and that she would do so unless we complied with her assessment that the dog's eye should be removed. While she may have had a legal right under CA law to register a complaint here are the particulars: she had not seen the dog in over 18 months and had no idea of the animal's current health status or the protocol we were religiously following from our vet.  She even called our primary vet to complain that we had not done as she had prescribed.  A few days later we received a call from the Humane Society that a complaint had been registered against us.  When we explained the situation the society's officer quickly closed the case adding that they often receive calls from disgruntled and overzealous vets. Be warned. There are other more compassionate (toward pet owners!) eye specialists around.  Fortunately, for our pet and us, we found one and he has been marvelous and easy to work with. Read Less

My regular vet referred me to Animal Eye Clinic.  My dog, a Cairn Terrier, has an inherited eye condition that my vet with 35 years experience had not even run across.  Dr Da Silva knew right away.  She spent a long time explaining all the options and even connected me with a research study about the problem.  Adding to that, my poor dog had a terrible bout of tummy upset on our first visit and they gave her a bit of a bath before we brought her home.On a follow up visit, every one was kind, professional and compassionate.  Dr. Da Silva pointed out to me a variety of ways to get the eye drops my dog needed to reduce my costs.I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful care my dog has received.I understand that veterinarians need a kind heart to operate as a business.  And I would expect that any medical office would have policies in place because they need to meet their expenses for overhead and pay employees. I was referred here by my vets office and I couldn't be happier. My 8 year-old pug has been blind for several years. She was always able to see a little bit but it got to the point where she was running into everything. It just broke my heart so I spoke to the doctor and he recommended I go to the animal Eye care clinic. Dr. Da Silva and her staff have been absolutely amazing! It's now been several months since her surgery and my dog can completely see! She had cataracts completely covering both eyes. All the doctors took such good care of her and made me and my family feel so relaxed. With the initial visits they make sure you understand everything and will not hesitate to answer any of your questions they even put a package together for you. We had several people taking care of her at one time it was so amazing. Many times I've had so many questions and was confused on certain things because I was scared of the surgery happening. As many times as I called they were always so sweet and so calm with me. I felt they were there for me like my own family! I would highly recommend anybody to go to them! I found a litter of kittens of which 3 were missing an eye and the other eye was missing part of the eyelid. To make a long story short - the hairs around the cats eyes were rubbing the eye raw. Not good. Most of the vets I went to didn't have expertise in this field so I was send to the Animal Eye Clinic in Camarillo (I'm from Simi Vallley). They saved me.. thousands from what I can tell. The only cat I adopted out to another family ended up having to get extensive surgeries, etc. and who knows if that was even necessary.. but it cost them a lot of money. The Eye Clinic in Camarillo will tell you straight up if your pet needs the surgery or not. They did tell me about a few procedures my cat might benefit from but there was no pressure, they even said NOT to do anything yet. I'm due back there in 4-6 months to see if the eye condition has gotten worse or not. In that case I have the option of getting a procedure done. For now I'm going to hit the grocery store and pick up some gel lubricant for his eye and he should be good to go. If you want an up front, honest, no PRESSURE vet, go here. I seriously am very happy with them. Read Less

Read Less

It's not only a treasure to find an eye care clinic for dogs but to find one that has such competent and caring individuals working there is priceless when you are there because of a possible trauma. We saw Dr. Goldenberg and she was caring, took her time, was compassionate and very explanatory. They use all the latest high tech gadgets and have knowledge second to none! The compassionate caring from the vet tech to the counter staff just flat out blew me away! I've had many, many dogs over the last 50 years and only one vet for the last 35. I know good when I see it. This place is GOOD. Very GOOD! Highly recommended. Read Less

We are truly grateful for them(: Read Less

Read Less
