Cambrian Animal Hospital

Campbell, California
General Info
Cambrian Animal Hospital implements the “pet comfort window” model that ensures phased diagnostics and noise-proof treatment schedules to households in California. The intake process does not start when the paperwork is filled out. Staff monitors the animal’s entrance noting whether the subject hesitates or circles and if it vocalizes or anchors its weight against the door. The clinic uses the indicators to decide if the patient needs slow approach, quiet staging or quick triage. Examinations include analyzing balance stability, ear tension, skin warmth and moisture, coat feel, mouth reflexes, breathing patterns and handling resistance. The diagnostic process is entirely based on owner feedback; the veterinarian will focus on details such as how the dog sleeps, changes in behavior with the seasons, changes in appetite or avoidance of certain activities. The Cambrian Animal Hospital offers an extensive array of services such as wellness consultations, urgent and geriatric evaluations, weight management programs, and pain assessments. Pets that require shorter activity sessions can have their service visits split accordingly. Some people benefit from extended staggered schedules, which include breaks throughout the day. The model also allows the families to prevent the re-traumatization of the post-surgical and naturally sensitive animals (existing cases) in their homes. Post-visit program planning involves establishing body language pointers and emotional qualitative scales for home application. It is recommended to make the necessary adjustments in the ways owners speak to their pets, and plan their schedules and daily routines to accommodate post-care decompression. Follow-ups are scheduled according to the patient’s behavioral readiness rather than on a fixed schedule. Cambrian Animal Hospital provides veterinary medical care services to pet families in Campbell and other California areas through a healing rhythm that supports physical recovery and emotional balance while upholding clinical accuracy. The team offers specialized services such as Acupuncture, Boarding, Dental Care, Dermatology, and Grooming. The practice and its staff are consistently praised by clients for the care and attention they give to pets’ needs.

Can not say enough about Cambrian Animal Hospital. My boyfriend's parents have brought their pets here for years and years. I have a cat Yoda, and we adopted a dog, Yukon. Dr. S is great with Yoda; she is like a cat whisperer. Dr. Kessler is so kind and caring with my dog and was 100 percent spot on when I took my dog in for weird symptoms. A lot of time we pet owners can worry about every little thing. Doctor Kessler is very attentive, and honestly could be a specialist himself. You can tell he loves dogs and hates seeing them sad. I have never been without a dog in my life and in 45 years I have never really cared for any of the Vets my parents used or that I used until I came across Dr. Kestler 8 years ago. I went to him after I adopted my boy due to the fact he was one of the Vets on the list that offered a free exam for newly adopted animals and his practice is around the corner from my house. Truly a great find! He is very patient, great with my fur babies, answers all my questions, and even teaches me preventative care for them. When any of my babies are under the weather he doesn't automatically jump into all the expensive tests, etc. like so many Vets do (I have some bad experiences with Vets that have done that). He takes his time and tries to eliminate the small things first before he starts recommending anything more expensive and/or intrusive. So far, he has always been able to pin down what the problem is without having to go into the more costly treatments. Although, I would drop all the money I could if it meant making my babies better when something was wrong. It's just nice to know he isn't going to do unnecessary things just to get my money. I trust him completely with all of them (2 dogs and 2 cats). I highly recommend Dr. Kestler. In fact I now have my mom and sister both taking their fur babies to him. Read Less

I found Dr. Kestler 8 years ago when I adopted my dog, Charlie. He offered a free initial exam for animals adopted from San Jose Animal Care Center and his practice is around the corner from my house. He is hands down the best Vet I have ever gone to. I trust him 100% with my animals. And even if I moved further from his practice I would still make the drive to see him.He is very patient, very kind, great with my fur kids, answers ALL of my questions (and I can ask A LOT!), he never rushes me, and he doesn't try to squeeze every last dime out of you like some Vets do. He also teaches me preventative care for my dog that has allergies so I don't have to come in with Charlie every other month with another skin problem. I can now catch it at home and use the extra skin cream he gives me and start treating it myself. He taught me how to clean and treat the area and as long as I catch it quickly enough I don't have to take Charlie in. I have never met a Vet before him that does this. I tell everyone I know that they should go to him. I even have my sister and mom taking their fur kids to him now. I noticed a couple people said they are overpriced. I find them to be comparable to other places, MAYBE a tad more than some but nothing outrageous. Plus, they do not recommend all kinds of costly treatments, etc. Dr. Kestler takes the time to eliminate certain things before you have to start on anything more costly (like blood work, etc.). So far I have been lucky and haven't had to get into anything too expensive. And as I mentioned, he teaches you preventative care so maybe you pay a few extra dollars but that means you won't be going back every few months with the same issues. I also noticed someone said it cost them $400 for shots and normal blood work. Blood work is not normal. Something else had to be going on with that persons pet that they are leaving out. I have NEVER had to have blood work done on a normal vaccination check up for any of my animals at any Vet I have gone to. I have also NEVER paid over $150.00 for shots and a check-up. I have had animals in my life since I was born and between me and my family I have had a lot of experiences with other Vets. I was constantly changing Vets and could never settle on one because I just never cared for them much until I met Dr. Kestler. I will stick with him as long as he is in practice. The poor guy is stuck with me and my four fur babies (2 dogs and 2 cats). Read Less

I have been bringing my animals here since 2010. Previously, our pug had bad experiences at two vets (to the point where she hyperventilated and passed out at the last one), but she trundles in happily here. In 2011, Dr. Saito operated on Pennie (the pug) and removed a large cancerous tumor from her liver. Pennie is still with us today.I have also seen Dr. Kessler when Dr. Saito is off--when our old cat had a seizure--and he is great too.IMO, prices are comparable to this area, and less than you will pay at Adobe Animal Hospital in Los Altos. The doctor was great, he thought it could be a fungal infections and spent a great deal of time explaining my options and treatments. He gave me an antifungal to start using on her, and said he would let me know about the test results, which he did by calling me on Christmas!!! The infection cleared up and has never come back.
