My first dog, Puccini (100+ lb. boxer X rott), was cared for by Dr. Ohara. I was very, very happy with the way the staff and Doctor treated and cared for him. He was not always cooperative, yet, still given affection. I was given understanding and sensitivity when I truly needed it most. I want to add a particular assistant and will provide her name later. Now, I have Bear, a 10 lb. terrier mix. I am already learning so much, just from our puppy visits. They have an incredible puppy introduction plan, that made me feel better when all I seem to do is worry. Large dog vs small dog transition. First of all i should give FIVE STARS to Dr O'Hara.I brought my cat to her after several pricey visits to other vets with no results.Dr. O'Hara made a diagnosis and provided me with very detailed recommendations. And it worked!! My cat is fine now and everyone is happy in the house:-)So i recommend Dr. O'Hara to anyone who is looking for an attentive, knowledgeable, diligent vet for their pets!Now, why just two stars for the review?Only because of their grooming services. They added those services recently and since the price was very tempting i brought my cat there for a bath and a haircut. It was the worst haircut he got ever in his life. Honestly, i want to cry every time a look at him... they even cut off his beautiful whiskers ... poor little boy. can't wait till his hair grows enough to take him to our previous hairdresser. I am so glad to hear Dr. Langeman retired. I hope she takes my cat's death to her retirement spa in sunny "I no longer know what I'm doing" land with her. My cat was diagnosed hyper-thyroid and Dr. Death prescribed methimazole. Three weeks later, kitty wasn't producing white blood cells. Dr. Death thought something else had happened in the interim of kitty taking the meds. Test after test after test, day after day after day, and nothing else wrong with poor little kitty. Off we go to a specialist and find liver damage, loss of one kidney, and a huge amount of fluid around her heart and the specialist says, "Although it is rare, methimazole is toxic to some cats. I've seen it happen and since your vet did all these tests, I recommend taking her off the methimazole." Jeeeeeeez Dr. Death, why, after two weeks of this, did you not recommend taking her off the methimazole?Little kitty lasted a year after all of this, but the damage was significant.THEN! Dr. O'Hara says that my dog has a heart murmur! HUH! My dog was 8 years old at the time and our previous Vet NEVER said she had signs of a heart murmur! I even called my previous Vet (in the midwest) and she was PERPLEXED. My dog is going on 11 now, went to the Vet last week, and guess what?! Still no heart murmur!WATCH YOUR POCKETBOOK HERE! I would never go to Dr. Ohara again..... she is mainly interested in $ . She ordered tests my dog did not need.. She fur was getting white and she ordered all kinds of test to the tune of over $200.00.. My mom has been taking our family dog here for years. Recently I got a puppy and so far my experience has been good. Usually we see Dr. O'Hara who is very knowledgeable, takes the time to answer all of our overprotective parent questions, and is very thorough in exams. They offer a puppy package that includes everything your puppy will need. The first few visits are free. We've had to do a few rounds of antibiotics for our pup and the medications were reasonably priced. Just a few weeks ago my puppy began having diarrhea and I wasn't sure why. I was able to call in and make an appointment for the same day which was great. I also love how friendly everyone is. They remembered Ace and took the time to say hello and pet him even if they weren't treating him that day. When we signed him up for puppy classes the staff was very quick and attentive through email and emailed me all of his vaccination records. Overall I'm happy with the service and care they provide and would recommend to dog owners. Read Less

My pup does this funky little hop when we go for walks and hikes sometimes. His old vet said it was a luxating patella and that it was a genetic disposition, which we could do nothing about. I was looking for a second opinion so I took my little Fluff to Porte at the recommendation of my boyfriend, who has been taking his family's pets here for years. I am beyond satisfied with the service we received. The staff was not only welcoming towards me, but they were warm and friendly to my pup, which I appreciate because a visit to the vet can be stressful for any pet. We came for his yearly vaccinations, but the doctor we met with checked my dog's patellas and said he was at a 2 (4 is severe and requires surgery). She gave us the option to do an x-ray to see what was really up with his funky hop. Although I opted out of it, I like that I was given the option. Read Less

My beloved Gabriel had a need to see a Vet for an eye infection and our Vet of many years standing couldn't see him UNLESS I wanted to pay a "Fit In" fee on top of the regular charges. So I called Porte and got an apology that they couldn't see him for an hour (!!) and when we arrived, Gabriel had a serious case of The Wilds causing everyone there to giggle. They promptly and gently diagnosed and treated his condition for a fraction of what I would have paid my "regular" Vet. They all won my vote and Gabriel was thrilled to make new pals AND get a treat ... or three. Read Less

I brought my Yorkie in a few weeks ago without an appt and they took us in no problem. I filled out all the required paperwork. Today I came in, again w/o an appt, and they told me they don't accept walkins. But they said they could work me in. Since I was bringing in my other dog I had to fill out more paperwork, which is understandable. However, after I spent the time to fill out the info the receptionist told me they didn't have a file for me. Like I hadn't walked-in before or filled out any paper work and I imagined paying them $135! This business has been rated consistently poor for good reasons. DON'T BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! Read Less
