We took our dog here for many years, but eventually became disillusioned by this practice. As Dr.Reed retired, and other docs replaced him, this clinic is now run by vet nurses / assistants / techs. Doctors work there only certain days of the week each. Therefore, often there is no doctor at the clinic, and you can only talk to or be seen by the tech. The doctors do call you back or email but inky after a long delay. Another problem is that they don’t try to explain to you the whole situation, kind of talking to you as if you would not understand. Therefore, it isn’t clear why they do what they do. Everything is “just because...” Overall, we left with the feeling that 1) they don’t really care for our dog, and 2) the clinic ran optimized for maximizing the profit. Read Less

I had been going to another per hospital... I thought I was pleased with till I came to reed!. The other pet hospital which will remain unnamed... I had been taking my akita puppy to for reasons that all seemed to be related... final diagnosis after going back numerous times  and paying for every office visit, was that her eye/eyelids needed to be operated on asap. This was early April 2017. They couldn't get her in for an operation till the very end of May  ( the 31st)  unacceptable since I was told she could lose her eye sight if this continued on for too long, in the same breath I was also told that sometimes dogs grow out of this condition. As you can see I am thoroughly confused now... do I wait to let her lose her eye sight in one eye? Yaaaaa I don't think so.I start calling around and I got into Reed animal hospital that day. To see Dr. Armer. He strayed us away from surgery, and gave us another option before surgery. Just be clear my dogs are essentially my children. The cost doesn't bug me. I would have done what was needed to make her most comfortable. With that said I don't think anyone (human and pet alike) should go under anesthesia if it's not entirely necessary. So he gave me a steroid ointment to put in her eye twice daily. First time I put it in was this morning. This puppy who has had her eye closed about 98% of the time for the past 2 months immediately opened up her eye and got a little more perky. Finally it feels like she has some relief! Fingers crossed we don't need to get surgery and this fully heals her! **BTW all the lovely women at the front desk were so helpful and amazing** I am officially a reed patient. We don't live as close to Reed Animal Hospital as we used to, but it's still well worth the drive for my cats to remain under their care. My former-feral, Tucker, needed a checkup and I had some concerns about a couple of things, so we made an appointment and saw Dr. Vieyra yesterday - 2/14/17. Tucker allowed her to examine his eyes without fuss so she was able to clearly see his symptoms. He's not always cooperative about that, and I was happy that my cat was so relaxed with her. Dr. Vieyra listened to my concerns, asked questions, and was wonderful with my cat. Tucker needed blood and urine drawn for tests and while this is never pleasant, when the tech brought him back to me, my cat was calm and stepped calmly from her arms back to the exam table. Dr. Reed and his staff took such great care of our little Rascal today after he inhaled a foxtail. I called at 5:22pm to see if they could get us in, and sure enough they did. The staff was so sweet with our toddler, who was a little anxious to get home. Right when Dr. Reed came in the room my husband and I felt at ease. They completed surgery to remove the foxtail and Rascal was back home with us a couple hours later. We've been dog owners for 8 years and this is the first vet who actually made us feel warm & fuzzy. Many years ago, when working at another location, Dr. Reed solved the mystery of how my cat got so sick (kitty electrocuted himself!!!) and helped save him. About a year and a half ago, when I found Dr. Reed had opened his own animal hospital, I moved all of our pets from the other practice to Dr. Reed ASAP. I can't say enough good things about him - he's taken excellent care of my two yorkies. Dr. Reed did surgery on one of my yorkie's hips - and our dog went from enduring a painful existence to living a pain-free, happy one by the time the process was finished. He jumps, plays and runs like a "normal" dog. AMAZING JOB!!!! Dr. Reed is compassionate, calm (this is good when I'm all freaked out by one ailment or another) and has a great way with animals. He takes time to explain things, never rushes us and gives my dogs personalized attention and lots of affection. My dogs are EXCITED to go to the vet and run IN to his place (when does THAT ever happen?) My older yorkie always tries to run down the hall to see him when we arrive - or he tries to scratch through the doors of the examination room when he hears Dr's voice. I've recommended Dr. Reed to my friends and highly recommend him to all! Read Less

I've taken my kitteh to Dr. Reed's office twice now, once for deworming and once for some stomach issues.  Both times, the vet techs were very caring and did not scare kitteh at all.  This is coming from a cat, who when I first met her, ran out of her carrier and hurled herself through the halls of the vet office....The prices for deworming and vaccines are super reasonable and they have a "good client discount".   The second time kitteh had some stomach issues that had me scared she ate something sharp and was bleeding from the inside.  Dr. Reed did some great diagnostic work and sent me home with two free cans of easy-to-digest kitty food for her tummy while she was recovering.  Turns out kitteh had intestinal inflammation (she needs to lay off the bugs, man).   He's also great at dealing with people and understanding that sensitively dealing with a freaking out human is a part of the equation when treating pets.  Both times, they've squeezed me in the same day!  I wouldn't recommend not planning in advance for routine things, but they've been there for me with urgent matters.Totally worth finding someone willing to drive us the little extra distance.Their office is clean, has cool fish tanks, and the front desk ladies are very friendly.  I definitely recommend them. My first experience with Dr Reed was when my Chihuahua, Delaney,  was about 22 weeks old. She was playing in the yard one afternoon when she came up lame. I called the veterinarian I had used for my previous dog and was told that they didn't have time to see her, wait until after 6pm and call the emergency vet clinic. It was 4:45pm. I hung up and immediately called my best friend to get her vet's number. When she gave me his cell phone number I was surprised. When I called Dr Reed he was on vacation on the East Coast, but took the time to talk with me about the symptoms she was presenting with. He suggested watching her for an hour to see how she was doing (Chihuahua's are high strung he said, she may just need some time to realize she's okay!) He told me to call him back if she was still in pain and he'd give me the information for the vet on call for him. Then he said, "why don't you call even if she's feeling better, so I know she's okay?" I did call back in an hour (almost 9pm at night where he was!) And told him, "she's doing better, but still not putting any weight on her paw:" he then advised me to crate her over night to keep her safe and call him back the next morning with an update. "I think you'll find that in the morning she'll bound out of her crate like nothing ever happened" he told me. Sure enough, the next morning she was acting completely normally. Needless to say, Delaney had a new veterinarian. I was so impressed that Dr Reed took the time to help me through this situation with a new puppy, even though he'd never met me. Since that day two years ago, we've seen Dr Reed for booster shots, an ear infection and spaying. All of our appointments having been pleasant, easily scheduled and reasonably priced. We love Dr Reed! Read Less

Can I give MORE stars??Dr Reed is the best human on this planet :) He has been my vet for over 18+ years - each time he helps my animals I am amazed with his veterinary skills, his passion for his work & each patient (animal) he always administers to a better/healthier place. Dr. Reed has helped me through the life & death of 3 cats - but most recently he has been a super-hero in helping my shih tzu Tino, working very hard to provide his well being through 2 critical serious diseases for a small dog - heart-worm & pneumonia. Dr Reed is calm, gracious, thorough & then again beyond thorough. He made me feel confident that Tino would make it through these serious diseases & he told me what I needed to do to help my dog get through them.  Each time, there was a lot of medicine & involvement in his getting well.  There were many times that Dr. Reed called in the evening to update me on Tino's status - I felt so relieved knowing how hard he was working to help my dog get back to health. With Dr. Reed & his staff's involvement - Tino made  it through back to health!! I feel SO blessed to know Dr Reed, to have him as my vet & more importantly, to have him as my friend. And I also cannot say enough about his staff - esp - Kelly, Rosie, Chelsea, Brian -  you have all given so much passion & concern - you are true animal/veterinary professionals. Read Less

My 8 year old Roxy became very ill very fast about 2 months ago and we needed to see a vet ASAP.  Our vet wouldn't take us so my husband called Dr.Reed and they made an appointment for us a few hours later.  After an x-ray and blood work Dr.Reed discovered our sweet Roxy was in full kidney failure and that her condition was life threatening.  He discovered this at about 8:00PM an hour after closing...he told me "my door says I close at 7:00 but we don't leave till each case is handled".  He had us come in and he explained everything and we decided together that it was time to put Roxy to sleep.  He let me spend almost an hour with her and said "I will be in my office you take as much time as you need, come get me when you are ready".  I was able to say my goodbyes and called for Dr.Reed and he laid on the floor with me and Roxy and put her to sleep.  Although it was one of the WORST days of my life he treated me, my family and my Dog as if we were his own.  I knew that day that we would eventually get another dog and I would be back to thank him.  About 5 weeks later we brought our new Puppy Cola in for the Puppy Plan and Dr.Reed knew how hard it was for me and again sat with me and talked me thru my pain over Roxy and my Joy over Cola.  He has taken such good care of my Puppy me & my family and I will forever be a client and a friend!  I could not tell you enough how wonderful Dr.Reed and his staff his!!!! Dr Reed and his staff are simply the best around, Dr Reed has been taking care of my family's dogs for many of years. Last year one of my dogs couldn't leave the house do to a medical condition so Dr reed came to my house 3 times. This kind of service is very hard to find. This week another one of my dogs became very ill. My dog needed to be under their care 24 hrs a day. The doctors and staff kept us well informed multiple times a day. Its very unfortunate my little dog couldn't over come her illness but everyone and I mean everyone at Reed Animal Hospital did all they could for my dog. Once again Dr Reed and his staff are simply the best!!!! Read Less

Dr. Reed is an outstanding veterinarian who is also  compassionate and kind and obviously loves what he does.  Dr. Reed has taken excellent care of our cat Sammy for many years and when Dr. Reed diagnosed Sammy with lung cancer earlier in the year he patiently and thoroughly answered all of our questions and gave us advice on how to make Sammy as comfortable as possible.  Sammy recently became extremely ill and we had to make an incredibly hard and heartbreaking decision and Dr. Reed and his wonderful Staff were there to help us through.  I highly recommend Dr. Reed. Dr. Reed definitely earned himself two furry new patients! Read Less
