Really amazing cat only pet hospital and grooming. They've been in business at this location since 1977 and was one of the first veterinary hospitals in the country to be exclusively for felines. The cats here are specially trained for feline care and the staff genuinely care for your pets as there own.
I am not a cat person but my 71 year old mother is and she drives across San Jose in rush hour traffic to use this place for her 2 purebred ragdoll cats care. A++

This is the best place ever for cats with special needs. My cat was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma and has needed regular testing and medications since then. The doctors at the cat hospital go above and beyond to make sure my kitty is doing okay. They call to give me updates when he has to stay there overnight and call me to check on him. The office staff is so friendly and caring and always seem genuinely to see him. I feel so comfortable there.

One of my cats was squinting and had some swelling on her eye so I decided to bring her to the vet as soon as possible. I recently relocated from Washington, DC where I had been taking by two cats to a board-certified cat specialist in the area. My previous vet recommended Dr. Shankar at The Cat Hospital. I called The Cat Hospital and Lisa was very helpful in getting me into see the vet as soon as possible - even though I was a new patient. Dr. Shankar was friendly, personable, and explained to me what he was checking on my cats eye. Apparently she had a corneal scratch which healed in a couple days after applying some medicine. Definitely happy I found an amazing cat dr on this coast! Will be taking my two cats here from now on.

Our fifteen year old cat had a tumor on her belly and had surgery here. The way she was before, she couldn't have continued, so I'm grateful to doctor Shankar for giving her next life in the succession of 9. She's fine now. Everything was done very fast and efficiently. I came with her in the evening and next day she was having surgery. All went uneventful and the surgery was successful. As soon as she was out of surgery, the doctor called us.The reason I took out a star is a week after surgery I took her for checkup and removal of stitches. When I brought her home we noticed she still had a couple close to the hind leg. I called and they said to bring her back. They removed the leftovers and kinda excused themselves that those were hard to see. I just wonder what would have happened if we don't check at home.

I took her here and they immediately figured out it was cat scratch fever. After medication, her breath improved. They are fairly priced, friendly, and really love cats.

Dr. Shankar saved my cat. I can't thank him enough. I adopted Keedy when he was a teenager and he's been with me for 16 years. I lived near the the Cat Hospital when he was young and had him neutered--I have since moved. He became ill a few months ago-- he had a growth and blockage in his intestine. I spoke with a surgeon at that time, and did not feel comfortable putting him through it. By Thanksgiving, my kitty had lost nearly half his body weight. I went back to The Cat Hospital for a second opinion. His condition was becoming grave. Dr. Shanker explained that we had two choices, one was operate--and soon. It was difficult but I felt much more comfortable with his surgery.Two days later Keedy went in. It was pretty involved and we weren't sure he would make it. I was a mess---not just initially, but throughout the whole process. Dr. Shanker and his staff were understanding even though I was probably the worst parent ever!They are the best! I am happy to say that Keedy is doing well. Eating, drinking and gaining weight.

They tried to scam me into paying $100 + for having my cat stay overnight when there was no reason to keep her overnight. They were not even going to examine her and said the reason from keeping her was so we did not need an appointment for the next day. Nowhere on their website does it say you need an appointment at all or any links or information for scheduling am appointments. If they said that in their website I would have made one. In fact I checked the website to find out if I needed one. Do the website is not helpful either and makes their reason for keeping my cat so I don't have to make an appointment just plain stupid. So I took my cat and left went to Porte Veterinary Hospital on Winchester blvd, where they examined my cat for her scratch immediately, no appointment. This place cleaned my cats wound off and gave us the antibiotics she needed for only $145 and I got to take my precious cat home the same day. So the moral of the story is take your cat to Porte veterinary hospital instead of this place which will take advantage of people for a few dollars. It's really sad.

We've been using The Cat Hospital for our cats' veterinary needs for about six years now, and we're VERY grateful to have Dr. Shanker and his staff in the South Bay. ALL of the staff members are just plain wonderful. We can't overemphasize the advantage of having feline disease specialists care for your cat; the vets at The Cat Hospital have a great deal more experience with feline diseases than most generalist vets, and can often diagnose a problem without having to do the extra testing that a generalist vet might feel necessary to order. Here's a surprise: you might think that a specialty clinic would be more costly than a general clinic. That turned out NOT to be the case with our cats. Our Tom had a chronic skin problem that several generalist vets couldn't get a handle on, and it was starting to rack up quite a bill. We took Tom to Dr. Shanker, who correctly diagnosed it on the spot, and to our delight, the bill was LESS than what we had been paying the generalists. I'm just guessing, but it might be that The Cat Hospital has lower overhead because they don't need to keep special equipment and medications on hand for everything from anacondas to axolotls.If you're a cat owner, these are your folks.

Brought my cat here on two occasions, for the same thing within a month. Twice he got a bladder blockage. The first time I did their morning drop off and they took him in right away and treated him. He had to stay a couple nights and it was about $600. 5 weeks later he got the same thing but on a Sunday so I had to take him to the emergency and get him transferred here the next morning. Vet bills are always costly but this place isn't the worst. They're nice but their hours a little hard to work around and both times I came for pickup I was there for over an hour before I got closed out. The place is always very busy so I guess I understand but it is definitely frustrating. Staff is very friendly though.

My cat was squinting & her left eye was watering really bad also she was sneezing a lot. I was scared she could be developing a infection. The receptionist could tell I was concerned, she let me know they were booked but if I wanted to come in & wait the doctor could check kitty's eye when he got some free time. I arrived later than I'd hoped because getting her in the carrier is a challenge lol. They called me in a little after 1pm & Dr. Shanker was so kind. He sat down, answered all my questions. Didn't rush me at all just because they were closed, was helpful & kind. I thought the price was fair $60 for the exam & fair price for medication. I made a few calls & some places wanted up to $250 just to be checked on a Saturday!! Thanks again Cat Hospital, we will be back :)

Staff is dismissive and slightly rude. Last time I showed up to pick up my cat after boarding, they said he wasn't in the computer. Then he had no paper file. I was told to go sit down and wait while they tried to find records and the cat itself, openly admitting they lost everything.
They did find everything (and my cat) but it wasted time, worried me and my wife, and was not great on top of the attitude I had during drop-off. Left with a bad taste in my mouth and decided not to return.

Stopped in today to make an appointment for a health checkup of our 2 cats, because I have a couple weeks off work and need to bring their shots current and so forth, and they turned away the business --they said it has to be an emergency to get an appointment in under a month. Good for them that the cat care business is booming -- but you might want to look elsewhere for care unless you can prove your cat is in an immediate emergency.

I guess I thought that I had reviewed this place already. It deserves it after so long!First off, I used to live down the street and so that's why I started going there in the first place. It was just fortuitous placement I guess. I live across town almost in Milpitas now and I figured I'd find someone closer to home as the drive is a long one some days for the cats if they have an appointment. Tried one place down the street - horrible and overpriced. Tried another place on Labor Day weekend close to me because they were open and Cat Hospital was not - regretted that after discovering I was paying almost $800 for an hour's office visit. Yeah, no.I went back to The Cat Hospital with my cat (he has struvite crystals) inquiring as to the surgery that the other place had highly recommended. Dr. Shanker called me personally that night and explained the details of it and how he was recommending strongly against it, and we could just save money by being more aggressive in a dietary change for the remainder of my cat's life. You can hear the sincerity in his voice and his love of both veterinary science and cats. At random office visits, I've cycled between him and other staff and they all show the same level of caring and commitment that makes me sorry I opted for a slight locational convenience on my side of town. I'll never go to another place for my cats again except The Cat Hospital. Exceptionally fair prices too that they are VERY upfront about before they even do anything. All in all, they're fantastic for cats and I'll never go anywhere else.

Absolutely the best place to take your cat! Dr. Shanker and staff care so much about my Nudie Patootie. Every time she comes in, she gets tons of attention and the great care she needs. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of feline health which is a huge plus compared to other offices that treat a multitude of pets. I have been going to the Cat Hospital in Campbell for two years now. My cat has been treated for two conditions, one of which was cured, and other for which is ongoing. I have seen two vets for other condition which is ongoing and neither one of them could cure my cat.
The condition for Sierra (my cat) is missing fur on her back because she keeps biting at it. We have tried changing her food, anti-depressants, and steroids. Nothing has worked, but luckily the condition is not really harmful to her health, it just looks odd. Prices at the Cat Hospital are comparable with others, and Dr. Hanney is a very dedicated doctor, I thankful to her.
My only complaint is that pulling in to the Cat Hospital on E. Hamilton Avenue is a little hard to find, but so are all the other business on that side of the street. As for the review, Audrey, I am sorry she experienced that, and she has every right to be angry. But that is nothing like what I have experienced, furthermore, I feel that the vast majority of clients are quite happy.

Really amazing cat only pet hospital and grooming. They've been in business at this location since 1977 and was one of the first veterinary hospitals in the country to be exclusively for felines. The cats here are specially trained for feline care and the staff genuinely care for your pets as there own.
I am not a cat person but my 71 year old mother is and she drives across San Jose in rush hour traffic to use this place for her 2 purebred ragdoll cats care. A++

This is the best place ever for cats with special needs. My cat was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma and has needed regular testing and medications since then. The doctors at the cat hospital go above and beyond to make sure my kitty is doing okay. They call to give me updates when he has to stay there overnight and call me to check on him. The office staff is so friendly and caring and always seem genuinely to see him. I feel so comfortable there.

One of my cats was squinting and had some swelling on her eye so I decided to bring her to the vet as soon as possible. I recently relocated from Washington, DC where I had been taking by two cats to a board-certified cat specialist in the area. My previous vet recommended Dr. Shankar at The Cat Hospital. I called The Cat Hospital and Lisa was very helpful in getting me into see the vet as soon as possible - even though I was a new patient. Dr. Shankar was friendly, personable, and explained to me what he was checking on my cats eye. Apparently she had a corneal scratch which healed in a couple days after applying some medicine. Definitely happy I found an amazing cat dr on this coast! Will be taking my two cats here from now on.

Our fifteen year old cat had a tumor on her belly and had surgery here. The way she was before, she couldn't have continued, so I'm grateful to doctor Shankar for giving her next life in the succession of 9. She's fine now. Everything was done very fast and efficiently. I came with her in the evening and next day she was having surgery. All went uneventful and the surgery was successful. As soon as she was out of surgery, the doctor called us.The reason I took out a star is a week after surgery I took her for checkup and removal of stitches. When I brought her home we noticed she still had a couple close to the hind leg. I called and they said to bring her back. They removed the leftovers and kinda excused themselves that those were hard to see. I just wonder what would have happened if we don't check at home.

Dr. Shankar saved my cat. I can't thank him enough. I adopted Keedy when he was a teenager and he's been with me for 16 years. I lived near the the Cat Hospital when he was young and had him neutered--I have since moved. He became ill a few months ago-- he had a growth and blockage in his intestine. I spoke with a surgeon at that time, and did not feel comfortable putting him through it. By Thanksgiving, my kitty had lost nearly half his body weight. I went back to The Cat Hospital for a second opinion. His condition was becoming grave. Dr. Shanker explained that we had two choices, one was operate--and soon. It was difficult but I felt much more comfortable with his surgery.Two days later Keedy went in. It was pretty involved and we weren't sure he would make it. I was a mess---not just initially, but throughout the whole process. Dr. Shanker and his staff were understanding even though I was probably the worst parent ever!They are the best! I am happy to say that Keedy is doing well. Eating, drinking and gaining weight.

They tried to scam me into paying $100 + for having my cat stay overnight when there was no reason to keep her overnight. They were not even going to examine her and said the reason from keeping her was so we did not need an appointment for the next day. Nowhere on their website does it say you need an appointment at all or any links or information for scheduling am appointments. If they said that in their website I would have made one. In fact I checked the website to find out if I needed one. Do the website is not helpful either and makes their reason for keeping my cat so I don't have to make an appointment just plain stupid. So I took my cat and left went to Porte Veterinary Hospital on Winchester blvd, where they examined my cat for her scratch immediately, no appointment. This place cleaned my cats wound off and gave us the antibiotics she needed for only $145 and I got to take my precious cat home the same day. So the moral of the story is take your cat to Porte veterinary hospital instead of this place which will take advantage of people for a few dollars. It's really sad.

We've been using The Cat Hospital for our cats' veterinary needs for about six years now, and we're VERY grateful to have Dr. Shanker and his staff in the South Bay. ALL of the staff members are just plain wonderful. We can't overemphasize the advantage of having feline disease specialists care for your cat; the vets at The Cat Hospital have a great deal more experience with feline diseases than most generalist vets, and can often diagnose a problem without having to do the extra testing that a generalist vet might feel necessary to order. Here's a surprise: you might think that a specialty clinic would be more costly than a general clinic. That turned out NOT to be the case with our cats. Our Tom had a chronic skin problem that several generalist vets couldn't get a handle on, and it was starting to rack up quite a bill. We took Tom to Dr. Shanker, who correctly diagnosed it on the spot, and to our delight, the bill was LESS than what we had been paying the generalists. I'm just guessing, but it might be that The Cat Hospital has lower overhead because they don't need to keep special equipment and medications on hand for everything from anacondas to axolotls.If you're a cat owner, these are your folks.

Brought my cat here on two occasions, for the same thing within a month. Twice he got a bladder blockage. The first time I did their morning drop off and they took him in right away and treated him. He had to stay a couple nights and it was about $600. 5 weeks later he got the same thing but on a Sunday so I had to take him to the emergency and get him transferred here the next morning. Vet bills are always costly but this place isn't the worst. They're nice but their hours a little hard to work around and both times I came for pickup I was there for over an hour before I got closed out. The place is always very busy so I guess I understand but it is definitely frustrating. Staff is very friendly though.

We've been coming to the cat hospital for years. Dr. Shanker treats our girls like family. We love the caring service that we receive when we're there. Dr. Shanker and the girls we usually deal with are 5 stars!This morning however we met a staff member named Lisa that left an incredibly bad taste in our mouths. She is rude, sarcastic, and uses a tone of voice that is incredibly condescending. Lisa gives 1 star service. Highly disappointing for such a fantastic establishment.

Thank you so much to the staff here & Dr. Shanker!! I called on Saturday at 11:15am (they close at 1pm) I told the receptionist of my situation. My cat was squinting & her left eye was watering really bad also she was sneezing a lot. I was scared she could be developing a infection. The receptionist could tell I was concerned, she let me know they were booked but if I wanted to come in & wait the doctor could check kitty's eye when he got some free time. I arrived later than I'd hoped because getting her in the carrier is a challenge lol. They called me in a little after 1pm & Dr. Shanker was so kind. He sat down, answered all my questions. Didn't rush me at all just because they were closed, was helpful & kind. I thought the price was fair $60 for the exam & fair price for medication. I made a few calls & some places wanted up to $250 just to be checked on a Saturday!! Thanks again Cat Hospital, we will be back :)

I was expecting the visit to cost a fortune & was pleasantly surprised that it. was only about $250. I will continue bringing my kitties to them & recommend them to my friends.

Staff is dismissive and slightly rude. Last time I showed up to pick up my cat after boarding, they said he wasn't in the computer. Then he had no paper file. I was told to go sit down and wait while they tried to find records and the cat itself, openly admitting they lost everything.
They did find everything (and my cat) but it wasted time, worried me and my wife, and was not great on top of the attitude I had during drop-off. Left with a bad taste in my mouth and decided not to return.

Had one good experience taking our cat there before (thus the 3 stars). Stopped in today to make an appointment for a health checkup of our 2 cats, because I have a couple weeks off work and need to bring their shots current and so forth, and they turned away the business --they said it has to be an emergency to get an appointment in under a month. Good for them that the cat care business is booming -- but you might want to look elsewhere for care unless you can prove your cat is in an immediate emergency.

When there are issues, he is great at laying out what the treatment options are, always including the client in deciding what course of action to take. So glad to have such a wonderful doc for my cats.

I guess I thought that I had reviewed this place already. It deserves it after so long!First off, I used to live down the street and so that's why I started going there in the first place. It was just fortuitous placement I guess. I live across town almost in Milpitas now and I figured I'd find someone closer to home as the drive is a long one some days for the cats if they have an appointment. Tried one place down the street - horrible and overpriced. Tried another place on Labor Day weekend close to me because they were open and Cat Hospital was not - regretted that after discovering I was paying almost $800 for an hour's office visit. Yeah, no.I went back to The Cat Hospital with my cat (he has struvite crystals) inquiring as to the surgery that the other place had highly recommended. Dr. Shanker called me personally that night and explained the details of it and how he was recommending strongly against it, and we could just save money by being more aggressive in a dietary change for the remainder of my cat's life. You can hear the sincerity in his voice and his love of both veterinary science and cats. At random office visits, I've cycled between him and other staff and they all show the same level of caring and commitment that makes me sorry I opted for a slight locational convenience on my side of town. I'll never go to another place for my cats again except The Cat Hospital. Exceptionally fair prices too that they are VERY upfront about before they even do anything. All in all, they're fantastic for cats and I'll never go anywhere else.

Absolutely the best place to take your cat! Dr. Shanker and staff care so much about my Nudie Patootie. Every time she comes in, she gets tons of attention and the great care she needs. They are very knowledgeable in all aspects of feline health which is a huge plus compared to other offices that treat a multitude of pets. I highly recommend the Cat Hospital to anyone I know and anyone who owns a cat <3

You won't find a better place to have your CH kitty cared for as well. We have been long time clients of The Cat Hospital. I like most all of the Doctors that I have seen there but Dr Hani rocks.

I have been going to the Cat Hospital in Campbell for two years now. My cat has been treated for two conditions, one of which was cured, and other for which is ongoing. I have seen two vets for other condition which is ongoing and neither one of them could cure my cat.
The condition for Sierra (my cat) is missing fur on her back because she keeps biting at it. We have tried changing her food, anti-depressants, and steroids. Nothing has worked, but luckily the condition is not really harmful to her health, it just looks odd. Prices at the Cat Hospital are comparable with others, and Dr. Hanney is a very dedicated doctor, I thankful to her.
My only complaint is that pulling in to the Cat Hospital on E. Hamilton Avenue is a little hard to find, but so are all the other business on that side of the street. As for the review, Audrey, I am sorry she experienced that, and she has every right to be angry. But that is nothing like what I have experienced, furthermore, I feel that the vast majority of clients are quite happy.
