Very nice vet hospital our dog was seen but the wait was three hours because of more other patients who had severe issues. My dog had gotten into the trash had vomited three times and very lethargic....
Very nice vet hospital our dog was seen but the wait was three hours because of more other patients who had severe issues. My dog had gotten into the trash had vomited three times and very lethargic. Doctor was great and gave my dog nausea medicine, anit-biotic and fluids. Plus a change in his diet to help the bacteria he ingested from the garage. Was bland to get his system back to normal. Now he is himself happy and playing. Thanks for helping our dog. I recommend to anyone who needs a vet 24 hours a day. Pet Emergency needs taken care of.

I have brought my dogs to SCVH for a number of years. I have always been satisfied with the care provided and all staff are very supportive and knowledgeable about animal health. There is compassion, professionalism, and expert level veterinary care at this clinic. Services are comprehensive with modernized equipment and facilities on site. Everyone is very nice and the place is clean. I am giving two stars because i brought my 4lb dog down who was clearly having an allergic reaction to soemthing. The vet chose to send him home with no treatment since I'd given him children's benedryl earlier to no effect. I brought my dog home and kept a close eye. He got progressively worse and I called. They told me to bring him back and they'd give him an injection and keep him overnight. Granted they were having a busy day, but don't rush and mistreat a dog that is clearly ill.

I called ahead for my appointment and asked for a couple requests upon or arrival and the staff incredibly accommodating, absolutely on time with our appointments and so awesome!

The staff was forthcoming and kind. I didnt feel pressured or made to feel as if I were a terrible owner since I was unable to afford the required surgeries. Will definitely return when I need a vet.

The veterinarians are top-notch. This is a full-service veterinary hospital and one of only 2 in the area that is open 24 hours. People come from more than 100 miles for some of the speciality services (e.g., oncology). But I deduct one star because they are more expensive than many other local vets (maybe 25% or more). You will want to use them for emergency and speciality services, and you might decide that the cost for regular services is not too bad. I have great praise for Dr. Nicola Mohr.

The vets are great, the techs are awesome with the dogs, and MOST of the office staff are ok except this one lazy bitch. The tech took my dog to the back to address a small wound and said they will probably be 30 min, so i thought it would be a good opportunity to charge my phone. Well according to the laziest worst office staff bi*** ever, it was just too much trouble to DIAL MY FREAKIN PHONE NUMBER TO TELL ME MY DOG WAS READY. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? Too much of an effort to dial SEVEN NUMBERS and say "OK"??????? It was just toooooo hard for such a difficult task. Smh. Never saw such a lack of customer service and absolute laziness before. Not sure if its worth it to keep coming back if i have to deal with the Queen of laziness and rudeness. Fire that bitch and ill happily keep coming back.

Do not bring your pet here. I highly recommend ANY other veterinarys, the staff was highly unprofessional, one gets treated as a nuisance. They were not concerned about my dog's well-being but rather focused more on trying to sell me their highest priced medication treatment. I was given an estimate at about $700 (so I paid the 700) and claimed to not go beyond a $950 mark. I go back and they charge me $1300, I was supposed to receive a call to reduce that number due to the fact that my Pitbull puppy passed away two hours after I had left him for an overnight period. NEVER received word from them. Consider it twice before taking your beloved pet to this "Veterinary".

Nice thing is they are 24 hours and were open on the weekend. I brought my cat because she was limping. They took xrays and i had to pay for sedation also so my bill came out to $380. Xrays showed abnormal paw but had to be reviewed by specialist. I asked for digital copy of xrays to be emailed to me which i still havent gotten. 2 weeks later finally got a call and they said its dislocated and i will be referred to specialist. A month later i still hadn't been referred. I called them and they tell me they still need to refer me. And btw i will have to pay specialists for their diagnosis and of course shell out for treatment. Not looking forward to it.

We brought our cat here after our regular vet diagnosed her with "Emerging Lymphoma with a High Grade Cell"; we were able to see Dr. Stone within a couple of days from the diagnosis and we began treatment immediately. The improvement in our cat's health was amazing after only the first treatment, she has had some ups and downs due to the treatment and that's to be expected. Dr. Stone and the staff at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital have been terrific to work with, everyone has a passion for the animals and understanding and empathy for the pet parents who believe their pets are family. Dr. Stone and SCVH came to us highly recommended by colleagues, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone who is dealing with the devastating diagnosis of cancer in their beloved fur-baby.

Took my very ill Silky Terrier there in 2014. They put her in ICU and stopped checking on her at 9pm. They ran unnecessary tests, charged me thousands of dollars and didn't notice when she died. Alone. They called me at 11:40pm July 4th asking if I wanted them to do CPR as she wasn't breathing. She was dead before then. They called back at 11:50pm saying she had died. I was there in 10 minutes. They brought her to me. She was stiff. She had been dead for hours.
How stupid do you think they thought me? The excuse was that she was so ill she stiffened up in 10 minutes. I refused to pay for the monitoring they were charging me for. Their excuse for the unnecessary tests was that my vet had not sent over her test results. Yes, they did. This "hospital" is so unprofessional they couldn't find her paperwork in 8 hours! I am still paying the exorbitant amount they charged me. They lied, they didn't watch her, they didn't check on her, they are unprofessional and greedy. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR PET!

Our English bulldog had surgery on her leg due to a mass from a staph infection. Dr. Macy was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff in the back of the hospital. I have been in customer service for 35 years and have trained others in dealing with the public in a professional manner. My complaint is in the incompetence of the receptionists, especially the blond one. They haven't a clue as how to deal with the public. We came in the day before for a consultation. First they left us standing there and didn't acknowledge us in the least. One was socializing with the other receptionists while sitting there and the blond kept typing away. FINALLY, after a few minutes, they looked up and asked if they could help us. This made us feel cold and unwelcome. Then, the day of surgery, they were asking me the same information I had given the day before, all over again. Don't you inform your front receptionists as to which animals are scheduled for surgery? They didn't have a clue and wanted to know why we were here. Don't you realize this makes your place look incompetent? There should be a list ready to go, with all the information and your receptionists should be well versed on the information. On the day of surgery, I sat there for two hours and told the blond receptionist to be sure and tell the Dr. that I was here, so I could talk to him afterward. Found out later that the Dr. left me a phone message because he wasn't informed that I was there! Amazing how they could build a new facility and they completely forgot about customer service! They are very expensive and the place feels extremely cold, uninviting and very unprofessional! Please teach your receptionists to quit socializing as well as leaving the front area empty with people standing around. There should be someone there at all times! They are the first people that customers see and talk to, so first impression, lasting impression...

The care we received onsite was very good (kind, compassionate, professional, responsive) but the follow-up communication and service has been horrible. I took our dog to this hospital while visiting from out of town. They didn't send our lab and x-ray results to my home vet, even after multiple requests over a period of 3 days, causing painful and unnecessary delays in resuming treatment for him. Staggering that the same people who were so caring initially could be so incompetent and/or callous afterwards.

So, best veterinary hospital ever. I know that at present it's not too much to look at from the outside. But don't judge the book by its cover. The doctors and staff here are top notch, both in terms of medical care for the animals, and expressing care for the humans who own them. Recently our family dog got sick, and we brought him here for evaluation and treatment. Dr. Nikki was extremely thorough, helpful and compassionate, even when it became clear that nothing could be done for our dog, and that we needed to make a choice to spare him any further suffering. He walked us through the whole process, and literally went above and beyond the call of duty to make absolutely certain that nothing was missed. When the time came, later that evening, to have the dog put to sleep, the staff - including the wonderful receptionist, Karen, and the emergency doctor that night - were extremely thoughtful, careful and sensitive, especially to our kids who came to say goodbye to their pet. I'm talking hug-giving, tear-shedding compassion here, folks. Nothing merely clinical. They were all extremely humane to our dog, and extremely compassionate and kind toward us - especially our kids. Today, 5 days later, we received a handwritten card in the mail, addressed to the whole family, from Dr. Nikki, expressing his sympathy over the loss of our dog. Seriously? A vet who sends personally written cards?! What a great blessing that was to the whole family. I give them 5 stars only because there aren't more than 5 stars to give. Thanks to the staff for being so caring and compassionate on such a painful and difficult day. It meant the world to our kids especially, and therefore to us. Oh, and they are currently in the process of expanding and remodeling the facility, so that soon the cover of the book will better reflect the inside.

My dachshund was having difficulty with her first labor and I needed a vet asap. I called and told them I was coming form Hollister, CA and they were great over the phone. When my baby and I arrived they took her promptly as I filed out paper work. She had lab work done and it came back with high sugar and low calcium. The dog was stuck in lab for over 24 hours and this place got it going safely, all while being absolutely professional an understanding of my worry for her. Lab work, X-rays, Several pitocin shots costed about $600. To me with was all worth it because we came in at 0100 and left about 0500. Friendly, helpful and even called to follow up to see how the puppies and the new momma was doing.

I have gone to the vet here for many years. They never hesitated to gaouge me at any instance. After spending thousands of dollars there, last week my cat was quite ill and dehydrated. I called to get an appt JUST to get her fluids. They told me it would be a WEEK before they could get me in, or I could come at night and pay an extra $100 to walk in the door. I used to live in another large city, and fluids were about $20 per visit. I was appalled at this -- not to mention I had to take care of my pet and find another vet asap.I will say, the vet I saw , Dr Wilson -- is wonderful, and should I get another pet in the future I'd seek her out at the other clinic she works out of , but NOT HERE. Really uncaring management and staff.

This information should be revealed at arrival rather than ignoring client arriving on time. Cost was insane. Over-priced. Numerous tests ordered. Vet medical professional not able to stick her neck out and make a definitive diagnosis. Left without any feeling of competence for the facility.

As I was sitting in the lobby wait for my dog to get a foxtail extracted from his nose, I was horrified as I started reading reviews about them. But my experience was nothing like any of them. The staff was awesome and EXTREMELY helpful. The doctor was awesome and showed me the foxtail, but she also informed me that my dog had a serious infection going on in his ear. Not only did they reduce the price, but they clipped his nails and cleaned his ear for free. Our dog Bart is 16 years old today! We got him from the animal shelter in Fairfax County, Virginia when he was 9 weeks old and he was 8 when we moved here. He has been with the doctors and staff since he blew a knee and another vet suggested he was too old for the replacement surgery since "he likely won't live much longer." He has had both knees replaced at the hospital and all his well care, too. He goes for a walk or two every day and in addition to dry food gets sweet potatoes, turkey and chicken plus lots of water, belly rubs and pets. His jobs are guarding the house and taking care of me which he is very good at doing. He travels with us frequently by car and has been to most states. Locally, his favorite place is the walk on West Cliff Drive. Every day is a blessing to have him with us and we are grateful to the staff for helping to keep him healthy.

He used to have difficulty just getting up. Now he moves, sits, and walks better than ever. There's spring in his step and he has a new lease on life, really. Very nice vet hospital our dog was seen but the wait was three hours because of more other patients who had severe issues. My dog had gotten into the trash had vomited three times and very lethargic....
Very nice vet hospital our dog was seen but the wait was three hours because of more other patients who had severe issues. My dog had gotten into the trash had vomited three times and very lethargic. Doctor was great and gave my dog nausea medicine, anit-biotic and fluids. Plus a change in his diet to help the bacteria he ingested from the garage. Was bland to get his system back to normal. Now he is himself happy and playing. Thanks for helping our dog. I recommend to anyone who needs a vet 24 hours a day. Pet Emergency needs taken care of.

Everyone is very nice and the place is clean. I am giving two stars because i brought my 4lb dog down who was clearly having an allergic reaction to soemthing. The vet chose to send him home with no treatment since I'd given him children's benedryl earlier to no effect. I brought my dog home and kept a close eye. He got progressively worse and I called. They told me to bring him back and they'd give him an injection and keep him overnight. Granted they were having a busy day, but don't rush and mistreat a dog that is clearly ill.

The veterinarians are top-notch. This is a full-service veterinary hospital and one of only 2 in the area that is open 24 hours. People come from more than 100 miles for some of the speciality services (e.g., oncology). But I deduct one star because they are more expensive than many other local vets (maybe 25% or more). You will want to use them for emergency and speciality services, and you might decide that the cost for regular services is not too bad. I have great praise for Dr. Nicola Mohr.

The vets are great, the techs are awesome with the dogs, and MOST of the office staff are ok except this one lazy bitch. The tech took my dog to the back to address a small wound and said they will probably be 30 min, so i thought it would be a good opportunity to charge my phone. Well according to the laziest worst office staff bi*** ever, it was just too much trouble to DIAL MY FREAKIN PHONE NUMBER TO TELL ME MY DOG WAS READY. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? Too much of an effort to dial SEVEN NUMBERS and say "OK"??????? It was just toooooo hard for such a difficult task. Smh. Never saw such a lack of customer service and absolute laziness before. Not sure if its worth it to keep coming back if i have to deal with the Queen of laziness and rudeness. Fire that bitch and ill happily keep coming back.

Do not bring your pet here. I highly recommend ANY other veterinarys, the staff was highly unprofessional, one gets treated as a nuisance. They were not concerned about my dog's well-being but rather focused more on trying to sell me their highest priced medication treatment. I was given an estimate at about $700 (so I paid the 700) and claimed to not go beyond a $950 mark. I go back and they charge me $1300, I was supposed to receive a call to reduce that number due to the fact that my Pitbull puppy passed away two hours after I had left him for an overnight period. NEVER received word from them. Consider it twice before taking your beloved pet to this "Veterinary".

Nice thing is they are 24 hours and were open on the weekend. I brought my cat because she was limping. They took xrays and i had to pay for sedation also so my bill came out to $380. Xrays showed abnormal paw but had to be reviewed by specialist. I asked for digital copy of xrays to be emailed to me which i still havent gotten. 2 weeks later finally got a call and they said its dislocated and i will be referred to specialist. A month later i still hadn't been referred. I called them and they tell me they still need to refer me. And btw i will have to pay specialists for their diagnosis and of course shell out for treatment. Not looking forward to it.

We brought our cat here after our regular vet diagnosed her with "Emerging Lymphoma with a High Grade Cell"; we were able to see Dr. Stone within a couple of days from the diagnosis and we began treatment immediately. The improvement in our cat's health was amazing after only the first treatment, she has had some ups and downs due to the treatment and that's to be expected. Dr. Stone and the staff at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital have been terrific to work with, everyone has a passion for the animals and understanding and empathy for the pet parents who believe their pets are family. Dr. Stone and SCVH came to us highly recommended by colleagues, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone who is dealing with the devastating diagnosis of cancer in their beloved fur-baby.

Took my very ill Silky Terrier there in 2014. They put her in ICU and stopped checking on her at 9pm. They ran unnecessary tests, charged me thousands of dollars and didn't notice when she died. Alone. They called me at 11:40pm July 4th asking if I wanted them to do CPR as she wasn't breathing. She was dead before then. They called back at 11:50pm saying she had died. I was there in 10 minutes. They brought her to me. She was stiff. She had been dead for hours.
How stupid do you think they thought me? The excuse was that she was so ill she stiffened up in 10 minutes. I refused to pay for the monitoring they were charging me for. Their excuse for the unnecessary tests was that my vet had not sent over her test results. Yes, they did. This "hospital" is so unprofessional they couldn't find her paperwork in 8 hours! I am still paying the exorbitant amount they charged me. They lied, they didn't watch her, they didn't check on her, they are unprofessional and greedy. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR PET!

Our English bulldog had surgery on her leg due to a mass from a staph infection. Dr. Macy was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff in the back of the hospital. I have been in customer service for 35 years and have trained others in dealing with the public in a professional manner. My complaint is in the incompetence of the receptionists, especially the blond one. They haven't a clue as how to deal with the public. We came in the day before for a consultation. First they left us standing there and didn't acknowledge us in the least. One was socializing with the other receptionists while sitting there and the blond kept typing away. FINALLY, after a few minutes, they looked up and asked if they could help us. This made us feel cold and unwelcome. Then, the day of surgery, they were asking me the same information I had given the day before, all over again. Don't you inform your front receptionists as to which animals are scheduled for surgery? They didn't have a clue and wanted to know why we were here. Don't you realize this makes your place look incompetent? There should be a list ready to go, with all the information and your receptionists should be well versed on the information. On the day of surgery, I sat there for two hours and told the blond receptionist to be sure and tell the Dr. that I was here, so I could talk to him afterward. Found out later that the Dr. left me a phone message because he wasn't informed that I was there! Amazing how they could build a new facility and they completely forgot about customer service! They are very expensive and the place feels extremely cold, uninviting and very unprofessional! Please teach your receptionists to quit socializing as well as leaving the front area empty with people standing around. There should be someone there at all times! They are the first people that customers see and talk to, so first impression, lasting impression...

The care we received onsite was very good (kind, compassionate, professional, responsive) but the follow-up communication and service has been horrible. I took our dog to this hospital while visiting from out of town. They didn't send our lab and x-ray results to my home vet, even after multiple requests over a period of 3 days, causing painful and unnecessary delays in resuming treatment for him. Staggering that the same people who were so caring initially could be so incompetent and/or callous afterwards.

So, best veterinary hospital ever. I know that at present it's not too much to look at from the outside. But don't judge the book by its cover. The doctors and staff here are top notch, both in terms of medical care for the animals, and expressing care for the humans who own them. Recently our family dog got sick, and we brought him here for evaluation and treatment. Dr. Nikki was extremely thorough, helpful and compassionate, even when it became clear that nothing could be done for our dog, and that we needed to make a choice to spare him any further suffering. He walked us through the whole process, and literally went above and beyond the call of duty to make absolutely certain that nothing was missed. When the time came, later that evening, to have the dog put to sleep, the staff - including the wonderful receptionist, Karen, and the emergency doctor that night - were extremely thoughtful, careful and sensitive, especially to our kids who came to say goodbye to their pet. I'm talking hug-giving, tear-shedding compassion here, folks. Nothing merely clinical. They were all extremely humane to our dog, and extremely compassionate and kind toward us - especially our kids. Today, 5 days later, we received a handwritten card in the mail, addressed to the whole family, from Dr. Nikki, expressing his sympathy over the loss of our dog. Seriously? A vet who sends personally written cards?! What a great blessing that was to the whole family. I give them 5 stars only because there aren't more than 5 stars to give. Thanks to the staff for being so caring and compassionate on such a painful and difficult day. It meant the world to our kids especially, and therefore to us. Oh, and they are currently in the process of expanding and remodeling the facility, so that soon the cover of the book will better reflect the inside.

My dachshund was having difficulty with her first labor and I needed a vet asap. I called and told them I was coming form Hollister, CA and they were great over the phone. When my baby and I arrived they took her promptly as I filed out paper work. She had lab work done and it came back with high sugar and low calcium. The dog was stuck in lab for over 24 hours and this place got it going safely, all while being absolutely professional an understanding of my worry for her. Lab work, X-rays, Several pitocin shots costed about $600. To me with was all worth it because we came in at 0100 and left about 0500. Friendly, helpful and even called to follow up to see how the puppies and the new momma was doing.

I have gone to the vet here for many years. They never hesitated to gaouge me at any instance. After spending thousands of dollars there, last week my cat was quite ill and dehydrated. I called to get an appt JUST to get her fluids. They told me it would be a WEEK before they could get me in, or I could come at night and pay an extra $100 to walk in the door. I used to live in another large city, and fluids were about $20 per visit. I was appalled at this -- not to mention I had to take care of my pet and find another vet asap.I will say, the vet I saw , Dr Wilson -- is wonderful, and should I get another pet in the future I'd seek her out at the other clinic she works out of , but NOT HERE. Really uncaring management and staff.

This place needs a new business plan. I will not return. Waited for appointment time patiently. Finally asked why my pet was not being seen and how long. Staff mentioned something about emergencies. This information should be revealed at arrival rather than ignoring client arriving on time. Cost was insane. Over-priced. Numerous tests ordered. Vet medical professional not able to stick her neck out and make a definitive diagnosis. Left without any feeling of competence for the facility.

As I was sitting in the lobby wait for my dog to get a foxtail extracted from his nose, I was horrified as I started reading reviews about them. But my experience was nothing like any of them. The staff was awesome and EXTREMELY helpful. The doctor was awesome and showed me the foxtail, but she also informed me that my dog had a serious infection going on in his ear. Not only did they reduce the price, but they clipped his nails and cleaned his ear for free. So glad I brought him here, the price was was really good for being an emergency visit, the staff was awesome, and doctor (Harrington) also awesome. I would absolutely recommend using SCVH.

Our dog Bart is 16 years old today! We got him from the animal shelter in Fairfax County, Virginia when he was 9 weeks old and he was 8 when we moved here. He has been with the doctors and staff since he blew a knee and another vet suggested he was too old for the replacement surgery since "he likely won't live much longer." He has had both knees replaced at the hospital and all his well care, too. He goes for a walk or two every day and in addition to dry food gets sweet potatoes, turkey and chicken plus lots of water, belly rubs and pets. His jobs are guarding the house and taking care of me which he is very good at doing. He travels with us frequently by car and has been to most states. Locally, his favorite place is the walk on West Cliff Drive. Every day is a blessing to have him with us and we are grateful to the staff for helping to keep him healthy.

Thank you so very much to Dr. Miller and the entire staff at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital involved with Chester's hip replacement. Chester's new hip is amazing! He is a new dog! He used to have difficulty just getting up. Now he moves, sits, and walks better than ever. There's spring in his step and he has a new lease on life, really. We all are happier than ever with the results. If a patient ever has any doubts about if it's worth it... it is. What a difference!
