Both Dr Boyle & Welch kept me informed on Casey's status & the plan of care for the day. I received one to two calls a day with an update. I was always asked if I had any questions. I felt at ease since I knew that Casey was in excellent hands of skilled professionals. Knowing that I could call 24/7 for any questions or to check on Casey's status helped tremendously in decreasing the stress. I'm so happy to have such a group of professionals & facility in the area. Excellent Vets, techs and staff! They are all kind, compassionate and great at what they do. I took my cat in with an unknown illness and Dr. Polansky, along with the Emergency Vets, kept my cat alive during 2 critical nights, and figured out why he was dying. Everyone there was very gentle and caring, and watched over him diligently through this stressful ordeal. He is home after 3 days, and doing great, and expected to make a full recovery. Dr. Collins and staff (Mitch and others) are certainly in the right profession. They are caring and compassionate, not only taking the time with the pup, but also with the pup's nervous parents! Our Boston needed eye surgery on both eyes and the procedure was performed swiftly and without incident. We had trouble getting the drops in, so Mitch patiently provided some tips and tricks on how to administer these, talking us through the medications to lightly sedate him and just overall care and handling of our rambunctious little guy. He is currently on the mend and we would never hesitate taking either of our dogs back to that facility for any care needed. I must also say that the facility is very clean and up to date! The doctors and technicians at CVS are so professional, compassionate, and just responsible. My 14 year old cat was hospitalized for 2 days, we saw 2 different doctors and maybe 3 different techs, everyone was thorough, super caring, detail oriented, and most of all very compassionate. I thought (the doctors did too) my cat wasn't going to make it. They gave me all sorts of accommodations.. My cat ended up making a miraculous recovery so I am EXTREMELY grateful and I will never forget the excellent care she received here!! Read Less

The entire staff was professional, friendly and thoughtful. Dr. Prouix was excellent and compassionate in his description of treatment for Sherman, who has cancer. I feel like he's in the very best hands at the Angel Care Cancer Center. The technician, Brooke, was wonderful in helping me with my other dog, who didn't have an appointment but I brought as she was having some issues from a recent surgery by another vet. She took great care of my pup while Sherman was being evaluated. While the waiting room is very comfortable, my only disappointment was waiting 30 minutes to get taken back to a room. The staff apologized and I realize that sometimes this happens. It will not prevent me from driving 80 miles a day for Sherman to have his radiation treatments - I believe in the facility that much. This year, our sweet girl Snickers came down with rather serious medical issues.  Pancreatitis and cancer were the two main foes.  We were referred to CVS from Pacific Animal Hospital (Dr Attix - a great American).  We worked with Dr Ogilvie on her cancer; Dr Polansky for her pancreatitis issues and lesser included health issues.  We could not be happier with the medical care and compassion they showed Snickers.  She underwent two serious surgeries (thx Dr Osmond!) and against odds made it through those really well.  Through it all, we were also helped by numerous staff members - so many to mention all but some of the folks that spent the time with Snickers and us were Geri, Sophia, Eva, Lara, Philana, Brittany, Adrianna, Amber, and Kaitlyn.  We know there were others that cared for Snickers not mentioned but know we are grateful to the whole team for the care and love they provided to our lovable, BIG-EARED sweetie!  :-) We want to especially thank Dr Ben Polansky for his expertise and friendship working with Snickers and us through it all.  He was very generous with his time whenever we had questions/concerns.  Thank you Ben.  You were a huge source of confidence and comfort. My cat was very sick and they did help him but they handled him roughly and he has been terrified of people since he has gotten back. He also seems to have sore ribs afterwards as well. They were also very expensive. Read Less

I would give them negative reviews if I could. My dog had cancer, and CVS was the closest location to my home. He had been there once. I made the decision to let him go, with CVS taking care of the arrangements. That is where is all went terribly wrong. In my grief they asked me to pay in advance to cover the services, wouldn't that have been better served after the fact?? They took my dog away and said I could collect his ashes in a week. With some dispute in the date of delivery I went over today to collect his remains, his remains that I cannot be sure are really his. I specifically asked that his body not be disturbed in anyway. Upon receiving his ashes I noticed two things out of order, both of which disturbed me greatly. One, they cut some hair and placed it in a bag for me. I was shocked. It was not something I expected or asked for, it made me ill. Second, they seemed to have made a paw print post mortem, and it is too big for my pet! I called CVS voicing my concerns and it was told that the paw expands with the clay mold. I never hears such garbage in my life. They ruined something very special to me. I question, if the ashes even are my pet. Do not take your pet to CVS for anything. After they take your money they do not care about you or the remains of your loved ones. Read Less

I have used California Vet Specialists for both emergency service and for my boxer's cancer surgery and follow-up treatments. From the front desk to the docs I have always received first-class service. Until I found that most of their other clients felt the same way, I was sure they liked my dog best! Needing to take your cat to an oncologist is scary and potentially overwhelming. Everyone at CVS - the front desk, the vet tech, the doctor - made the experience as non-threatening and comfortable as they possibly could. All of their explanations were clear and easy to follow. While they're a little pricey, the staff is caring, understanding, and they do everything they can to help you. We took our cat because he was very sick and the staff was caring and understanding. I found CA vet specialists one Sunday when I was a bit worried about my dog's lethargic behavior. He recently had surgery for another issue with similar symptoms so I didn't want to take any chances. They were the only vet near me that I could find who was open (they're open 24 hours, FYI). They took amazing care of my little guy and even followed up twice with a phone call to check on him. The staff was very caring and thorough, and the lobby makes you feel comfortable as well (TV, couches, coffee and water). Thankfully in the end it was only a pinched nerve that took a bit of recovery time, but I'm very grateful to everyone for their help throughout everything! Read Less

Although we wish our cat was never sick, the reality is that he has chronic asthma and other secondary conditions. This poor little rescue has been on deaths door many times. When no other vet was able to help him, we found Dr. Grady at CVS who has given this poor little, old cat several new leases on life. He never gives up on Rudy. We are very attached to Dr. Grady and have great trust in him. He treats our cat like it were his own. Although the clinic is always busy, that is never reflected in the quality of care we receive. He makes every pet and their owner feel special. We are very thankful to him for his dedication to animals and their guardians. The rest of the CVS staff are also very kind/caring. They have excellent diagnosis equipment and competent staff on the emergency side. I had a slightly less perfect experience with the cancer side - just remember an oncologist is not checking for the things a normal vet checks for, so even if you see an oncologist regularly, you also still need to see your normal vet. The price is also pretty high on the ER side. That said, I have complete confidence in them, and the 24 hour emergency care is something I have been thankful for on several occasions. Read Less

As another reviewer wrote, loving a place where your beloved pet is ill or needs care is not always where you want to be. Yet, if you do need care, I felt comforted and calmer in how efficient the entire staff and facility were. The facility was exceptionally clean, the waiting area has comfortable seating; has large screen television with news or programming worth watching. It wasn't advertisements like some facilities are prone to display. There are plenty of magazines to read. There is coffee, tea, or water available while waiting. The cost of care does not seem excessive beyond industry norm. The staff helped me file insurance paperwork so that I was promptly reimbursed by my pet insurance. Read Less
