Dr Anderson came to the rescue and nabbed that nasty Tick! First time there, brand new to the valley, we found him from Yelp. He impressed me from the start, focusing on my dog and his comfort first! Dr. Anderson and his staff were super friendly and professional when I brought my puppy in for his very first exam (which is free for new patients)! They took the time to get to know my pup as well as the time to thoroughly check all areas of concern I had regarding him. Dr. Anderson also answered all of my questions and gave me lots of advice on how to keep my pup healthy. Just took my dog here for the first time - I use another vet and have been going to the Animal Cancer Center also, these are both good establishments also. However the staff and Dr. at Animal Hospital at Mid Valley are beyond friendly and explain everything. They also do all first examinations for free. We were in Carmel for the month of October with our Springer Spaniel Riley, who loves to run the beach and trails.  She developed an abscess in her paw.  Doctor Anderson was able to find and remove an imbedded foxtail the same day as our call.  We were so impressed with him and his staff we returned two days later to have a wart removed.  We felt the cost was reasonable and fair for the high level of professional service. We moved down to Carmel Valley in June, and I've been searching for a local vet for my 4 dogs.  My husband saw the great Yelp reviews on Animal Hospital at Mid Valley, and when I also checked with our local Real Estate Agent, she said (without prompting), "I've heard nothing by good things about Animal Hospital at Mid Valley".  I took two of my dogs there last week...one needed a Bordatella vaccine, and one needed a nail trim.  Dr. Anderson was awesome...so was his nurse/receptionist (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten).  We were seen promptly, and I was so impressed by how much time Dr. Anderson spent getting acquainted with my dogs, and with me.  I love that they don't rush you, and you feel like you get all of your questions answered.  One of my dogs is very high strung and can be skittish and very nervous at the vet, and even she seemed comfortable here.  I am very happy to say that I have found a new vet!!!! We have taken our dogs here for many years.  Dr. Anderson and his staff are exceptional.  They seem to truly care about their patients.  Rachael at the front desk, always worked us in when our dog needed treatment.  Lori and Jason are always so gentle and loving.  We had to put our 14 year old German Shepherd down a few days ago.  They made a bad situation as good as possible.  I cannot thank them enough for the care they provided to our beloved dog, and the kindness they showed to us. This place is a tiny hole in the wall behind a shopping center and everyone who works there cares tremendously for each animal that comes through as well as the animals owners. I have brought 3 dogs to them now, and they have always been knowledgeable, prompt, and fair about billing. My last dog I had to put to sleep at the end of here time, and the doctor made a house call so she could pass in the comfort of her own home. Love this vet! Read Less

We brought our dog Mocha here since we were traveling near Carmel to have her certified as a therapy dog.  She had anal swelling and tenderness which Dr. Anderson diagnosed an anal abscess which he drained manually.  He also noticed her subluxed patella (knee) which has been previously diagnosed in a comprehensive exam.  He is an outstanding veterinarian and graduated from UC Davis (one of the best schools in the US).  He and his staff were warm and welcoming and worked us into the schedule at the last minute.  WONDERFUL VET!! My first visit here today. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about - place was spotless. I also know of no other vet clinic which sterilizes waiting room chairs in between patients - do you? They don't even do it at our human hospital. Staff was very friendly, accommodating, knowledgable, helpful. What I found especially refreshing was their care in not overcharging me, as I am used to with other vet clinics. I brought in a cat with an abcess. In the past, this would have easily have cost $250-1500 depending on surgery, drainage tube, meds etc. Total cost at Mid-Valley Animal Hospital: $100. Vet gave kitty a 2-week antibiotic shot so that I didn't have to do a darn thing at home and wouldn't react to amoxicillin (I am allergic and can't be near the stuff). I will return. Read Less

Our golden retriever and german shepherd dog have received excellent care and treatment at Mid Valley Vet Hospital.  Dr. Anderson and his staff really care about people and their pets and it shows in everything they do.  He has been sensitive to our emotional needs surrounding our dogs' need for treatment.  He has gone above and beyond searching out information for us.  When necessary, he has referred us to a specialist.  Each and every visit has been characterized by excellence in treatment and caring.  Beyond all this, our dogs drag us from the car to the clinic door and wag their tails excitedly when Dr. Andersen/staff approach them.  Dogs never lie!!!  We recommend Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital/Dr. Karl Anderson and his staff with the highest of marks and absolutely no reservations. Today was the 2nd time I have taken my boss' small dog to the vet here. Both times the floor and fabric seat have been covered in fur and dirt (cross contamination/ germs). When I went to put the dog on the pad on exam table the assistant said 'is this even clean, oh it's fine.' The vet himself was in jeans; now I'm all for casual Friday, but in the medical field, whether animal or human, be professional. After I walked out of the exam room, they brought another dog in without even cleaning up! The stripping was peeling off the bottom of the walls. The other side to the exam room has no door so that if your pet is excitable or scared and tries to run, now they are running loose through the clinic. They said they'd call in 5 minutes to give me the heartworm results. The appointment was at 10, it is now 5 and still no call. I'm disgusted. I wouldn't be surprised if my boss pulls her pup out of this vet once I inform her of the grossness experienced here. The doctor and his staff truly care about their patients and clients. My dog Solo had ear infections and skin problems and Dr. Karl changed his food and whipped up some kind of magic ear drops in his back office (inexpensive) and solved all his problems without any antibiotics or drugs! I've referred many people to this office and they all tell me how wonderfully they are treated and with great results.  I have been to some other offices which weren't as friendly or caring.  I highly recommend this doctor, staff and office for veterinarian services.
