This practice and Dr Irene are amazing. They’re all professional and also personable, they provide great customer service and truly care about their kitty patients. My cat is shy but he is really calm and comfortable with Dr Irene, she really cares about his wellbeing. They always give me all my options for levels of treatment and the cost. If you have a cat, especially one with special medical needs, you NEED to bring them here. I’ve gone to the big name vets and they just see opportunities to make money, they don’t really care about the well-being of your pet, especially cats. I've been taking my cats here for about 20 years. They are always very friendly and obviously love kitties. When my cats have had urgent problems they were always able to get them in quickly. They've also been really helpful getting my guys transferred to pet hospitals where they can have surgeries or more intensive treatments when it's been necessary. I haven't shopped around, so I can't really speak to price, but I feel really comfortable having them care for my cats, so I'm not too concerned about it. Read Less

I will never take my kitties anywhere else again!! Really, they're amazing and here's why:I have two young cats, one is almost two and the other about two and a half. I've been taking them to another cats only veterinary facility (which I highly suggest for cat owners as it reduces the stress of the vet immensely for your kitty) that I really was happy with, but I didn't realize it could get so much better.  My two and a half year old is a super demon at the vet. She's so wonderfully cuddly and sweet at home, but as soon as we get to the vet all hell breaks loose. Not only is this so stressful on my kitty, but I'm a total disaster through it all too. Of course, my difficult kitty is the one who got sick. She was throwing up on and off for about a week and took a steep down hill turn toward the back end, so I decided to give Sacramento Cat Hospital a try. Not only did they take incredible care of my kitty who made it through with only some hissing and minor fussing, but they took incredible care of me while I was spiraling downward in the waiting room. They spent almost 3 hours, well after closing, to give her the time she needed to stay calm and learn to trust them enough to do a very thorough work up.Yes, it was expensive. Yes, we ran lots of tests that added up to a large bill at the end, but there's a reason that virtually all of the negative reviews only have the expense to complain about. You absolutely get what you pay for. It was unclear why my kitty was so sick and necessary to cover all of our bases. I was able to come home worry free, filled with information and loaded with support in the form of clear instructions and every emergency number I could ever need. Vets are expensive, it's just the reality of it, but it depends on what your needs are. If your needs include the full package of support for the whole family and the comfort of a very thorough job, this is the vet for you. Every client that walked in as I was waiting said incredibly positive things about their experiences and the front desk staff kept me calm and occupied as they worked on my equally stressed kitty. There is no one else I would have trusted more with Andy's health then the loving staff at SCH. Thank you for loving and caring for Andy all these years and I know that I was able to cherish and love him longer because of your loving care for him. I will forever be deeply grateful and words can't express how thankful I am knowing that Andy was in the best of care up to the very end ! I noticed this place years ago but have only recently used their service.Everything that could be done right was done right from the first phone call to the last time I picked up medication! The ladies working here exude that special essence of love and devoutness most commonly reserved for hospice type work. It's obvious they have a commitment to excellency and have demonstrated total competence and care to my cat! Their dedication to cats goes so far that they keep adoptable cats on site. They communicate clearly and respect the decisions made from owners as continuously observed while I was there.Although my cat has his own dog I really like that this is a 'cats only' zone because I can't always trust other dogs and because I only bring him in when something catastrophic happen. (He's a dick about getting in the car and then he sings out of tune with the radio so bad it's ridiculous and the punishment I receive /after/ I bring him home... well... let's just say it's rare for him to leave the homestead...) I appreciated that the nurses provided several treatment options and didn't pressure me or try to guilt me into the most expensive choices.I didn't check Yelp before calling them so when I came to write this review I was surprised by other reviewers saying it was expensive. I feel like ALL veterinary care is expensive but I also feel like this place was TOTALLY reasonable! Expensive or not I'll be returning there if (or more honestly, when) my little dude needs medical attention! Read Less

The staff at the Sacramento Cat Hospital are the greatest. I recently lost my cat Tiger from a bad injection site sarcoma. They helped me keep her comfortable until I felt it was time to let her go. They also have been great after the fact. I recommend them. Read Less

I've been taking my cats here for 20 years. The care is absolutely excellent. I've had to go other places on occasion, and they really cannot hold a candle the cat hospital. They're really exceptional. The downside is they're incredible pricey. Not that they're not worth it, but they are expensive. Read Less

I took my kitty Annabelle to get her annual check up on 3/6/15 and was treated very good.The vet's assistant treated Annabel very nice and complemented my kitty. Annabelle got a complete physical with blood pressure, temperature and a thorough going-over.  During the visit I had a few questions about diets and litter quality and the  veterinarian had lots of information to give me.I left with free dental chews to find out which ones my kitty would like the best for her teeth. Samples of three different kinds of kitty litter to see what my kitty would like. So all-in-all,  the friendly service, and the thoroughness of the physical I believe everybody was happy and Annabelle is purring loudly today. Today is Saturday and they just called to check up to make sure Annabelle is feeling good after her distemper shot. Read Less

I have 2 cats (loves of my life) and one of them has a longstanding health condition, the other HATES going to the vet (bites, scratches, hisses, claws, poops himself, screams, etc). They are great with both of them, very specialized for kittys. They are really attentive to the health condition, Dr. Irene is amazing and I totally trust her. They are so sweet with how my crazy cat acts and put our minds at ease and don't shame us into feeling like bad cat owners (other vets have). I've also used them for boarding and they were so sweet, even sending us photos of our little guy and sending us emails "from" him.
