Our Beloved Cat was put to rest and they cremated her for us. They were very supportive and allowed us all the time we needed before saying our final goodbyes. When picking up her ashes, they were kind enough to bring them to the car as I had my Baby restless in car. The care my cat received here from Dr. Hume-Smith and the wonderful staff was above and beyond. He was very I'll and needed hospitalization. He is also very difficult with vet offices and when I pick him up, he is usually screaming and aggressive. Not here. I visited him multiple times and he felt safe enough to be himself. They were all so kind to him and he even snuggled with a staff member! I could tell that they took time to bond with him and will forever be grateful that such a wonderful group of people made a difficult time so peaceful for both of us. Update: Their service has improved tremendously. Our cat who HATES vets loves his doctor. She's thoughtful, responsive to all questions and provides the best care for our cat. We won't take him anywhere else. So first off the staff is nice and the on call vet is pretty good. That being said I've been sitting for 3 hours waiting to get the pain meds and pay. 3 other patients have come and gone while I've waited. What a wonderful experience. When my furbaby became very ill, we had a scheduled appointment at our normal vet. When he took a turn to the worse, we called VCA on Manzanita, they took him in right away. They were honest and told us what his needs were and what course of action will be in his best interest. They assured us we could call to see how our furbaby was doing and it was encouraged. The staff is kind, caring, compassionate, and sympathetic. We've taken our cat there twice now. Our cat mama is very hard to handle. There is only one human she tolerates, and he works full time so it's up to me to take her in lol. The staff is professional, they don't judge when I tell them you are gonna have to drug her to get near her. Had to take my pup loki in for an emergency rate apt late at night due to him ingesting some sort of toxin. The vet was extremely nice and the staff was super friendly. They got us right in and had loki back home with fluids and charcoal to flush the toxin out. He was feeling much better the next morning :) overall best vet experience ever. Had to take my cat in for a respiratory infection right before Christmas. Dr. Jill was very friendly and great with my kitty. I was initially charged the emergency rate because I didn't have an appointment but she asked the receptionist to reduce it to the regular visit price which was very appreciated. My cat got some fluids and antibiotics and went home feeling a little better. Then the office called to check up a few days later to make sure she was recovering. I wasn't expecting any follow up from them so it was a great surprise. Will definitely use this vet in the future. Read Less

The entire staff was amazing! Hands down the best veterinary experience I have had. The doctors were very knowledgeable and seemed to truly care. I brought my dog in later in the evening because he had been pretty sick and wouldn't eat or get up and move around which is not like him at all. After the initial exam they suggested an x-ray because they believed he may have some blockage in his GI tract. Which was a good call the x-rays did show blockage and we opted to surgically remove the object. They didn't waste any time getting him in the operating room and managed to successfully remove a pair of socks from him. Thank you so much to the entire team there. This place is amazing. I rushed my puppy there when she was really sick. Everyone was so nice and helpful. My pup Stella passed away that day. Everyone was very consoling and the doctor kept in touch letting me know how my Stella was doing. I really appreciated that. Candice was super nice and stayed in the room with me while I cried. Dr. Joseph was decent. He was called out mid-exam but was able to determine without any xrays MRI or CT scan that our dog had intervertebral disc disease and prescribe 2 pain medications and advised strict confinement for 2 to 6 weeks. I received a call from Dr Joseph about 4 days later to check in and see how things were going. I discuss some of my concerns and he informed me that he would contact me by phone or email over the weekend. I never received any communication from him so Monday morning I called back to the office. Our dog was out as one of his pain medications and I had requested that they transfer the prescriptions to a local pharmacy, such as target. I was told that I would have to physically go in to pick up the medication prescriptions but that Dr Joseph was not in for a couple of days and she would have to see if one of the other doctors would be willing to write the prescription. This information completely differed from what I had been originally told. I asked a few questions to make sure I was understanding correctly and explained that I did not live near that location and I was trying to fill the medications through somewhere closer to home. I also let her know about the lack of communication I had received over the weekend and this woman, who explained that she was the hospital coordinator, continue to talk to me in such a disrespectful manner that I was in shock. I asked what her name was and she continue to speak over me and interrupt me and let me know that it did not matter what her name was since anyone else in the office would give me the same information. I told her that I would like to speak to somebody else because she was being very rude and she told me that no one else was there to speak with me but that she would give the information to the manager. When I asked again to speak to somebody else she said it didn't matter who you talk to anyone will tell you the same thing. She then told me that she no longer wished to continue the conversation, that she would be disconnecting and then she hung up on me. I am NOT one to easily get emotional but I stared at my phone and started to cry. I was in disbelief. I contacted the greenback VCA hospital and their front office person was much more considerate and empathetic and explained a few things to me regarding medications and refills. She told me that it is their policy that they should be able to call a prescription to an outside pharmacy such as target. She advised me on what I should do and after getting off the phone with her I called back to the Manzanita location and spoke with someone named Jenna. She seemed nicer but also seemed nervous to be talking to me. She told me that "I'm being told that someone from the office like the manager or a doctor will be contacting you sometime today." Once I concluded my conversation with her I called a local vet's office and set up an immediate appointment. We are there now and my dog is receiving xrays and blood work because they are not sure what may be causing his pain and discomfort. The extremely rude office coordinator that I spoke with at the Manzanita location was Candace. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and I am so embarrassed for this location that they have someone working there who would treat anyone, especially a customer, this way. She was rude, lacked empathetic, and just plain nasty. If it were up to me, she would be fired immediately, not because I want to ruin her life but because I hope that at some point she realizes that she should not treat people that way and maybe it would help her understand that. I will never be returning back to this location and I will make a huge effort to spread my experience so that other people know better as well. I'm beyond disappointed.Read Less

I don't write many reviews, but had to say how at ease the staff here put me when I took my baby in for emergency eye surgery. I have been to many vets, and felt more comfortable here than I've ever felt. They were patient and explained everything clearly - Giving us all of our options.
