I trust Redwood Animal Hospital completely with my pets. I have been going there for a few years now and they have always taken great care of my cats and dog. Whether taking your pet to regular check-ups or for illness, the staff is always patient and caring. Dr. Dimov is very personable, he always takes the time to explain everything and to answer any questions you may have. Also, since Dr. Dimov took over the practice they have made many improvements from updating the physical space, the online portal, and putting a loyalty program in place, which is great. Have had several critters here for many years and cannot recommend them strongly enough! They have state-of-the-art technology and the most professional, compassionate and friendly staff. They have helped us with cats, dogs, and guinea pigs and assisted with maintenance care (vaccinations, dental cleanings, etc.) emergency care (tooth extraction, fox tails, tumor removal) and end-of-life care. They are open 7 days a week until 7:30 p.m. which allows you to see your regular veterinarian rather than a stranger at en emergency veterinary clinic. Of course the staff is amazing, many vets can boast that. I've got an American Cane Corso and anybody that knows them knows how standoffish they are with people. I don't know what it is about the atmosphere or the people there but he loves going to the vet. He's a completely different animal when he's there. He seems happy and excited to explore and mingle with other animals and people. And when it comes time for his appointment they just tell him the room number and he trots out ahead and goes right to the proper room. Read Less

I have tried other vets closer to where I live but they just do not compare to Redwood's level of expertise and kindness towards me and my animals. We took our dog here for a physical and a nail trim today. They cut her back nail almost all the way off. Apparently they knew what they had done and put something on it to stop the bleeding and never said a word. When we got home she was covered in blood and tracking blood all over the house. It was terrifying! We quickly realized it was coming from her back foot and called to ask what happened. We spoke to the woman who did the trimming who stated it simply slipped her mind... to tell us what she had done to our dog. We demanded a refund for the $30 nail trim to which they said they could/would not do. They offered us a voucher for a free nail trim in the future. Of course we refused! We've been taking our animals here for close to 17 years. Dr Abrams was amazing and took such great care of our cats and our last dog. Apparently she left and care has gone way down, but the exorbitant prices remained. The fact that they Knew they hurt her and didn't say anything to us is inexcusable! My dog laid on the floor on her back (which she only does when she's done something wrong), with her back leg shaking. I sat on the floor with her for ten minutes until the bleeding stopped. My poor dog is traumatized. My carpet, couch, kitchen floor, and interior of the car are covered in blood. This is NOT okay! I was traveling from Reno to the Bay Area. I walked my dog at the gas station on the way. He started snorting and sneezing on the road. I was in Castro Valley and did a search for veterinarians and they came up. They told me to bring him in so I did. The girl I spoke to on the phone just made me feel comfortable about bringing him in. Even tho they were busy, they squeezed me in due to my travel plans. I was there for maybe 15-20 minutes and my dog was back to good. They were able to remove the little sticker and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. THANK YOU very much Dr. George.... She might be a great vet, but I was so upset when I had to pay 1600.00 + for teeth cleaning and three teeth extracted.  She called to let me know that she needed to remove the teeth, but never mentioned it would be AN ADDITIONAL 1100.00 DOLLARS to what I already paid.  I am so upset I cannot believe the price and this is after I paid a few hundred the week before to get blood work done and office visit to even see if my 14 pound dog could get dental work done!  I will never, never go back.  She never even came out to see me when I was so upset and in complete tears in her office.  Look out for your wallet when you go there!!!! It's really hard to entrust someone to take high care of your pet who isn't able to give you feedback. With that said, I fully trust Dr. Abrams at RAH. She is kind, knowledgable and really cares for my dogs whether it's just a check up or major surgery (which we just had to unfortunately do). Dr. Abrams extra loving touch comes in when she emails me on her days off to make sure my sick dog Lola was ok and that everything will turn out well for her. As someone who is a huge worrier, this was exactly what I needed from a vet.The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because this hospital is pricier than some places my friend and mom take their pets. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Lastly, I want to thank Dr. Longley who found the malignant tumor on my poor Lola's paw and because of her, we are hopefully able to save her life. Bad customer services. Bad quality of care. All front desk clerks are indifferent. They just care when you are about to leave and ask for your credit card to bill. They just gave us a cold shoulder when we walked in. The doctor is a very young lady (new doctor, first time to see her). She is not the one who treat my German Shepherd before (Dr. Abram is my dog doctor). I forget her name. She spent about 10 minutes listening to my wife and I regarding how my German Shepherd acts: limping during gait, avoid weight bearing on his R leg, refuse to sit, decreased level of activities. Obviously it is hip degeneration. She suggested a X ray to see what is going on and then surgery depends on how serious it is. Wait a minute, there are plenty of option treatment plans such as non-invasive pain control, anti-inflammatory management or even exercise treatment. I brought these up before she mentioned what I said. Of course she doesn't know that I am an orthopedic physical therapist. The difference is: I treat human vs she treat animal. But this is ortho 101: non-invasive treatment first. When I brought up the term posterior pelvic tilt in order to keep my dog femoral head embedded in the acetabulum, pain control, inflammatory management... She doesn't have that much to say (she said yes, yes.... ) and then she walked out. After a minute, her assistant returned and gave us an estimation of $980 for her suggested care plan. Bullcrap. Of course we just walked out with pain management only however that costed us $300. She didn't even return to us before we left to tell us what we should expect in the next few day. I believe that she doesn't know because she doesn't do any manual test for my dog. What she did is listening to what I told her. Bad services, bad quality of care. I brought my German Shepherd in for a possible broken paw when she tumbled down the stairs to fast.  The receptionists were helpful and polite.  The vet (Dr. Abrams) comes in checks my dog and believes she has a fracture.  She has me wait for a "quote" which totals $951.  I tell her I cannot afford that much and leave while paying only the initial visit fee.   Dr Abrams was rude and condescending about why I was refusing her "quote" for service. Within the hour, Animal Control calls me and said Dr. Abrams reported me as refusing services and refusing a $38 pain medication.  I advised the officer i did not refuse a $38 fee.  The only fee discussed was $951 without any further adjustment in price.  The following day I went to Eden Pet Hospital for a second opinion.  The quote came in for less than half the cost ($445). and my dog was diagnosed with an x-ray with no break but a sprain only.  Pain medication were administered.How dare a veterinarian assume i am mistreating and not providing care to my animal just because I refused their exorbitant quote for inflated costs which was unnecessary and unsafe for my dog.  Shame on you Dr Abrams for reporting me to Animal Control for no probable cause in animal cruelty other than refusing your expensive services. I can't thank enough all the people at Redwood animal hospital. My wife and I were visiting our family and we always take our dog with us everywhere. Well this time, we should have left her home. We did not know but there was snail poison in the front yard and our dog who was just running around there ate some. She started foaming and shaking. We have never been so scared in our life. We rushed her to the hospital and right away Dr. Abrams told us that it was snail poison. By that time she was having full blown seizures! She took such great care of our little girl and by the end of the day she was almost back to her normal self. Thank you again for saving her life. Read Less

We have been going there with our German Shepherd since 2007 because my brother took his there and he's a stickler for good service. The people there are good with animals and human too. However, after the owner died things started to go down hill and the new owner kept increasing their prices. My neighbor told me about Redwood and I decided to try them out. Dr Abrams is a very caring and professional Veterinarian. She has been caring for our dogs for the last six years and has a top notch staff to compliment her. Appointment setting is very easy and the facilities well equipped. Before performing procedures, you are always given a price breakdown and advised on what items are critical and which are not, i.e. things that would be good to have but not critical. You are always in the loop with your pet's care so no surprises will jump out at you concerning care or billing. Dr Abrams' pet bedside manner is great and she always shows compassion. We were just talking someone about the death of my best dog ever Bowline, a Rottweiler who was one of the best dogs Ive ever had. And it occurred to me that I should give credit where credited is due. Anna. Anna made the whole experience very respectful and painless. My wife and I layed with our dog and she did here thing (a cocktail to sleep and then sleep for ever). She followed up with the ashes and a lot of communication.
