My daughter had been asking for a kitten for a very long time, and we finally adopted one from the Stanislaus Animal Shelter. She named him Pepe. He was about 9 weeks old, and had just been neutered the day before we adopted him. We took him to American Pet for his 1st check up, and shots. He was a happy kitty, and passed his exam. A week later, he came down with a respiratory infection and his neuter sight (neuter done by another vet) became infected. A week or so later, he got an abdomen abcess and had to have emergency surgery. If it weren't for the excellent treatment from Dr. Basra and his staff, Pepe surely would have died. Two hours after we took him home, he popped his first stitch, which led to another visit to the vet, and two staples. We caged him at home, and forced this little feisty kitten to calm down. The next morning we found he irritated his incision with his e-collar, and popped another stitch. Back to the vet we went. Pepe's journey is not done yet, as he now has to have his incision re-opened, cleaned, and stapled again. He also has to stay at the vet for the next 7 days for super close monitoring and to allow his incision to heal. Pepe is only about 12 weeks old, and has been put through hell. He is the sweetest little guy, and we love him. We feel very comfortable leaving him with Dr. Basra and his awesome staff, and trust they will take great care of Pepe. My family and I can not say "Thank You" enough, or put into words how amazing Dr. Basra and his staff are. We are lucky to have this Veterinarian, his staff, and this office in town. God bless them! It's quiet at our house right now, and we miss our little Pepe. We can not wait for him to heal, feel better, and come home.Read Less
