I never thought I would have to write a warning as I am compelled to do. Yesterday, April 28, 2022, I took my Bengal cat, Hunter to go for his annual dental cleaning, which I was recommended to do by the Vets at VCA to keep Hunter living a long and healthy life. One could imagine my shock to receive a call just a little 2 hours after dropping my poor kitty off stating he had gone into cardiac arrest and they are performing CPR. My heart stopped, this can't be, not my Hunter who's been healthy and taken regularly for his vaccines and wellness exams. He had been through this cleaning procedure twice already. This procedure has less than a 1% mortality rate. I did everything I was suggested to do to keep my baby happy and healthy, he wasn't only a pet, he was a member of my family. He was treated as a son, a brother to our Yorkie, Leo, and a cousin to Zero. To be told I would get a call back in 10 mins to confirm his death because it wasn't looking good. Why did you stop calling me and not do everything in your power to save Hunter as I always asked!! I get the return phone hoping for a miracle that there was a mistake and my Hunter is fine. Unfortunately, I get the call that says Hunter is gone and how you would like to dispose of his body. F$&* You, dispose of my Hunter's body like he is a nothing?! Through the shock and tears and asking how could this of happened as he was a healthy cat, what did they do differently, why did this happen. The response I am given "I honestly don't know what happened, but remember there is a risk with anesthesia". You jerk, you and the rest of the staff recommended this procedure to elongate his life not strip him away from me so soon! I ultimately get the lovely invoice for $330+ for the CPR that didn't work and the $179 charge for the private cremation so I can pay the respects that a cat like Hunter deserves. From all this please take away the following: DO NOT Bring your pets to this hospital, it has changed from the once 5-star review I left 4 years ago to today, and it was hard to price to pay. Slow. So. Slow. Almost 3 hours before me and my dog were seen, and I came in at 830 on a Monday night. I felt bad for another family in the lobby, they had been here so long the vet asked if they could administer a shot to ease the pain for their dog until they could be seen. I’m thinking, how convenient, you take your time and charge for pain medicine until the dog is seen. How is that their fault? It’s not like the family would say no. So dissatisfied. Read Less

Checked in at 8:15pm with a limping panting drooling dog. Filled out paperwork was evaluated by a tech . Informed staff the dog is aggressive and needs to be isolated from other waiting dogs . Was told to wait in the car and someone would come for us in about an hour. 9:30 no come out - I leave the dog in the car and go inside. Same people in waiting room same staff - I ask if I’m forgotten- “let me go see, we wouldn’t forget you” (yes I know you did) your next on the list if no emergencies come in. Stood in lobby and hear the desk staff say they forgot someone (I’m guessing me). And at 10:15pm Call a client at home and ask if they want CPR done on their dog oh in case of emergency. When she hung up the clerk said,”wow, she was really scared “. No these people will not treat any animal of mine Read Less

"I'm not trying to rip you off". This is what the vet said to me three times during the visit. If the vet keeps saying this, what does that say? I took my dog in because I am worried she may have an obstruction in her gut. Basically I wanted to her to get an x-ray. The vet told me it is $350 for one plain x-ray- followed by "for $30 more we can do a lot more tests and it will include the exam fee". All the other tests would not have really been useful. My take is that this is VCAs way of getting people to pay- grossly overcharge for what the animal needs and then do the sell of "for $30 more we will do more tests". I guess this is the more subtle manipulative marketing scheme. I don't blame the vet, he is part of the VCA system of playing on the worries of pet owners to get them to pay for tests the animal doesn't need. I have pet insurance and I have the funds to pay, but I will not be buying into the VCA scheme of manipulation even if the staff says "I'm not trying to rip you off." Read Less

I'm not even mad about the overpricedness but at least they should pretend to be urgent if they're supposed to be an Emergency pet hospital! The wait was just ridiculous, and the vet should educate pet owners on the illness or injury of their pet, instead of selling us options and giving us prices. My five year old dog had a moderate to severe seizure for the first time so we rushed him here in case it was a stroke and to see what was going on. I got there at 3:30 didn't get home until 7 and all they did was charge us $440 for An x-ray and blood work, because he "appeared to look fine" by the time we got there ... awhile I came in like a wrecking ball with 5 concerned people with me; expecting at least semi urgent care.. they just made us sit there for hours and when we finally saw the vet, he didn't even give us advice on how to go about handling the situation incase a seizure occurred again, (which is most likely& he even said that) I literally had to pull information out of him. They're all about the money here which is sad considering they're dealing with helpless sick animals that can't pull out their own wallets and swipe their card to get themselves looked at and helped out. I only recommend this place if it's your last resort and it's a legitimate emergency and their the only ones open. Read Less

My sisters and I heard a stray dog being attacked outside of our house and seen she was badly injured so we rushed her to a 24 animal hospital and this was the closest that popped up. So we took her to this hospital and they wanted to charge us $3,000 for surgery, laceration, whatever they chose to have us pay for. I am a student so I have loans and a car to pay for to get to school and back. However, I wasn't approved for their credit which I tried to fill out to help the dog. Since I couldn't do much, I asked them if they can drop some charges to fix the actual serious problem of at least stitching her up since they said "she's not in any serious damage, it didn't puncture anything major" ..so after the doctor just told me that, the nurse came back in and said a whole different thing . Basically, they just wanted to keep adding exams after exams for no apparent reason. They knew all they could've done was stitch her up since she wasn't bleeding out, it was just an open wound. They placed this poor stray dog in an insignificant category since it was a "stray" dog and not my own pet. How are we supposed to care and love for these animals if places like these care more about money? They couldn't even give anything for pain, something to help the dog. We ended up paying $202 for an emergency exam ..and that was about it .. Thank you for absolutely nothing ! The vibe in their animal hospital wasn't a positive one.I didn't feel any comfort from them whatsoever . Thank you to the nurses who looked like they wanted to do more but they couldn't. To the doctor who had no remorse for a stray dog, "There's no better feeling then giving the absolute best service to any animal, even if it considers free service or giving the most accurate payment for the service, in which I honesty don't think you know anything of since I can obviously tell you love money". I basically carried the poor stray dog out of the hospital in the same conditions I carried her in with. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE! Read Less

After 1 hr of debating Dr comes in and tell me he will pay for puppy bills if I would give him up, that he would care for him, that he wanted him... I said I couldn't we loved him. How do you give up a member of the family? And that's not the worst part he threatened he should call animal control but he wouldn't because he knows it a accident . He wanted my dog so bad he made silent threats and that's when I knew to take my dog and go. My daughter said the most they could pay was $2000 here's the shocker!!! They told her didn't want to see him die so they offered to treat the dog for FREE but the puppy was no longer hers and she was not allowed to call and check on him. They told her that they already had someone who would adopt him. Craziest thing I have ever heard! They treat for free yet wouldn't accept her $2000 Sounds to me like they just wanted the puppy. Slow. So. Read Less

They take super good care of my pets. But too much "suggest a sale", and they have become super expensive. It's your pet, so you'll pay any amount. I think they realize this, if you know what I mean.

Read Less

I am sad to say I lost my pitbull spike 3 days ago but the staff here were very helpful. The graveyard staff helped him from basically being dead to showing life again, he was lifting his head and trying to get up. The morning staff continued what the graveyard staff was doing but it was only so much they could do, spike had to do the rest and he was tired. Unfortunately my baby passed away but I am grateful he was warm and around people who were taking care of him, they also let me see him as many times as I wished and I thank God I got to see him one last time before he was taken from me. Read Less

Professional, kind, and efficient, are only a few words to describe the staff and VCA Hospital. I took my baby Schnauzer there because he was having trouble standing. Immediately Dr. Young and the staff found that he had swallowed a quarter and needed to have it removed. With the utmost care and kindness they found the problem, diagnosed it, and suggested surgery for him in less than an hour. My baby is having surgery today. We pray that all goes well and he's back at home soon. Thank all of you at VCA, I recommend you highly to all people who really LOVE their pets! Read Less

If I could hit the NEGATIVE BUTTON I would. This place only cares about money. Please take your pet somewhere else. I took my 11wk tea cup yorkie here and begged them to help him After my daughter was playing with him and tripped over him on accident. They took my puppy to back while they took me to a room and demanded money before they can work on him. I asked for payment plans, I told them what i could afford and it wasn't good enough. Well he called Animal Control for cruelty my poor daughter was sooo traumatized it was sad She didn't want to hurt him. He told animal.control my daughter kicked the dog. My boyfriend saves 1,200 for that puppy , why would we hurt him. Hes a family member. PLEASE PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. DON'T BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. This pace should be shut down! My daughter took her puppy in and was diagnosed with Parvo (was after hours) was told would cost at least $5k since they could not afford that, the only option was to put him down. It was a white Maltese /Pomeranian. After all this we find out that they could have given her an IV to go home with and then take him to a regular vet in the morning!
