Today I brought my 10 y.o. akita for a couple of shots. This is a dog that wants nothing to do with a vet. While he is a sweetheart in every respect he must be muzzled and restrained a bit when at the vet's. I left him in the truck while I went in. A tech asked me where I wanted it done. I said.. "How about outside?" I was very happily surprised when my dog paid little attention to the vet and everything was boringly uneventful. I had to call some friends to tell them about this. I have been here twice with my cat, and one time to pick up food. The doctor and staff are knowledgeable and kind. They put the animal needs and best interest first. He does not run any more tests than necessary at that time, and makes suggestions of what and when follow ups may be needed. You take the initiative to call for test results and future appointments. You don't actually have a set appointment. You call to found out the hours the doctor will be seeing patients and take your pet in. It is also a pet hospital, at other times he is doing procedures. The Veteranarin is very sweet and seems caring but isn’t there often. Services are very basic I thought. Some staff are nice, others seem like they really couldn’t care less. Prices are very fair and they don’t push a lot of extras on you. THE PLACE IS FILTHY so I’m concerned about the filth I might not be able to see. Read Less

Worst place ever!!! Took my dog in in April they said it was a bladder infection gave him antibiotics that didn't help, took him back in may same diagnose, after they did X-rays and blood work,took him again in June same diagnose, picked up different antibiotics but my dog got worse!  Took him for a second opinion and they diagnosed him with Cancer!!! Now we have to put my poor dog to sleep thanks to these useless Vets!!! DO NOT TAKE your pets here!!! BE AWARE they just want your $!!!  I wish I could give them 0 stars! Go elsewhere!!! Brought my two dogs here for a neuter with a voucher, and recommended by a bear by hospital. Horrible place to take your pet. The two women at the front desk act and speak like they don't even like animals or their job. Super rude, very cold in demeanor when dealing with my dogs. I felt like because I had vouchers that they saw me and my pups as less than. After their fix, they were so groggy they slept for about a day and a half. Neither of them were given cones. I was not told nor given any after care information. I had to clean and watch my littlest dog 24/7 because he kept licking his wound and it got very irritated. There were scratch marks on him from the clippers they used because it was so rough on his skin. Pick a different place. I would never bring them back here, even if it was for a teeth cleaning. Not sure about the comment referring to rude staff- These ladies have helped our family through some tough losses with pets and are dedicated above and beyond. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Hearther for about 5 years now. He is a great vet. He is conservative and doesn't jump to the most expensive diagnostics right off the bat. He listens to me when I tell him what is going on with my dogs and doesn't treat me like I don't know what I am talking about. I know my dogs and what they need for the most part and he appreciates that. PET OWNERS BEWARE!!!!! I WISH I COULD LEAVE ZERO (0) STARS FOR THIS PLACE. I left my dog there for 8 days while I was on vacation. She was supposed to be walked everyday. They took her on ZERO walks and left her in her cage for all 8 days. Her $100 Cesar Milan bed and toys had crap and urine all over them. This place needs to be shut down. So in humane. I have been going to Dr Hearther since 1982, We have had 5 dogs in this time period and each of them with their own set of health issues. In 84 we moved 20 miles away but will not go to any other Vet. Dr Hearther, never over medicates, never rushes to surgery he definately knows his stuff. Being a Vet is not magic, the creature ""cant tell you where it hurts"" being a good vet. starts with you the pet owner. You must know your animal and be able to communicate for your animal. We have always said that when Dr Hearther retires we will no longer own animals. I have referred many clients to Dr. Hearther and will continue to do so. I highly recommend Dr. Haerther and the staff at Cozycroft Hospital!!! I don't know what the people below are saying, but my experiences have been wonderful with them. They treat my dogs like family, Dr. Haerther takes time with assessing them and their needs, and it does not cost me a fortune!!! Oh, one more thing, I have been and seen their facility, and it is sanitary !!! Hello.... You must have been really obnoxious with them, that is why you did not get the chance to see their very sanitary facility!!! In addition to that, you need to understand that it is a priority for them to keep the place sterile, ESPECIALLY when there are surgeries. You probably did not even think that maybe there is an EMERGENCY, and a surgery was needed by the time you had to go back in the afternoon... DUH!!! Selfish, selfish selfish... The people below are out of their minds. I absolutely love Dr. Haerther and all of his staff. My dog and I have always been treated like family. They always fit me when I need an appointment, and they are always willing to help me over the phone if I need advice. And although they are all the way out in Chatsworth, I will still drive all the way from Sherman Oaks to see them. I have been to mulitple other vets in the hopes that I would find someone closer, only to find myself returning to Dr. Haerther. Other vets charge outrageous prices and have no bedside manner. Dr. Haerther is always honest, very caring, and will not have you spending money on treatments and tests that are unneccesary. I have brought my Sherpard, Joe, there for everything under the sun, from epileptic gran mal seizures, nail bed infections, urinary tract infections, etc. He caringly and promptly cured every single one of his ailments. He even saved one of the family puppies from Parvo (and only 1 in 10 dogs make it when they have Parvo). I love Dr. Haerther and will continue to take every single one of my pets to him. To the person below who is complaining that they couldn't see the boarding facilities due to a surgery!???? If my dog was there for surgery (it is an animal hospital BTW), I wouldn't want random people walking back and forth through the operating room. Geez, so sorry that the layout of the place doesn't suit YOUR needs. You selfish person! I have to disagree with the other reviews here. In fact after my visit the first thing I said was, ""Those people at Cozycroft are really nice!"" Dr. Haerther seemed to me to be a very good Vet and I trust him. I spoke to a person named Susie during a follow up call and she was very helpful too. They gave my kitten a refill with no need to bring him in saving me $. I dunno, I had a good experience there and I think the other reviews must have been isolated events and not indicative of what goes on there normally. I like Cozycroft! Read Less

For boarding, do not go here. Twice we tried to view the boarding area and were told no because "" a surgery was in progress"" and we weren't allowed to walk through the surgery area. Huh? You have no other way to get to the kennels than through the operating room we asked? They said ""No, but the surgeries are in the morning so come in the afternoon."" So, we came in the afternoon, and guess what? There was a dog in surgery and we couldn't look again. So we offered to come in a back or side door so as not to the disturb the dog. ""No, there is no other way in ...."" they said. That's preposterous, against fire regulations, and makes no sense. They obviously didn't want us to see the kennel area. If you care about your pet's well-being at ALL, then I urge you to find a diffferent veternarian. Dr. Haerther and his staff couldn't care less about my dog...and they have consistently treated me with utter disregard. The doctor spends about 3 minutes in the room with me and my dog (who has a lot of health issues to manage) and tries to run out the door the whole time, while I'm still asking questions about her medication. He literally will not spend 5 minutes with us, and has one foot out the door the entire time. He is rude and abrasive, just like his staff. They ALWAYS lose my chart, write my phone number down wrong, forget to return my calls, and now they are refusing to fax my dog's records to another office. As a professional pet sitter who has worked with many many vets, I cannot recommend Cozycroft on any level. Read Less
