Eastlake Village Vet Clinic

This is not the one off situation. I have never in my life dealt with someone so unprofessional and excuse my ignorance of a word: GHETTO. Dr. Bischel met my new 8 week puppy once and said she had an allergic reaction and recommended I change her food to a low grade puppy food she also recommended robust new dewormers even though my pup had them already. I agreed to this and accepted the feedback and then contacted the breeder about this and was told to change my vet immediately as Dr. Bischel is not aware of the breed characteristics and incorrectly advised me to take my 8 week pup off holistic high grade food to a low level food. This was the recommendation of a well known breeder who sold puppies to Michael Jackson, Burt Reynolds and Snoop Dog. I called Dr. Bishchel's office to share this experience and discuss this and she never returned my call. A week later I called back to attempt to follow-up and she was out of the office and could not be reached (even though she said during my initial appointment that I could call or text her cell at anytime). Her staff was unwilling to contact her despite the fact of what Dr. Bishcel told me and what she said. Furthermore Dr. Bischel gave my pup high potent vaccines to take home with unclear instructions. I am a seasoned and highly educated and respected analyst for a living and I warn new pet owners to be aware of the instructions and labeling given: Dewormer powder: I was given two sets of zip loc baggies with 3 sets of powder in each. ON EACH of the zip locs the labeling said: Give one packet each day for 3 days. We followed the instructions. This was wrong. At the end of one of the labels it says repeat in 2 weeks. The ziplocs did not indicate "package 1 of 2" and "package 2 of 2" therefore any new mom or new dad would read as directed and give each packet once a day for 3 days. The "repeat in 2 weeks should have been better clarified in the BEGINNING of the labeling. The labeling is not consistent in terms of the same wording on the invoice / charges summary. I called to share this honest concern and feedback as we gave our puppy too much dewormer and was met with a combative and argumentive response from Dr. Bischel. She does this for a living and is used to the instructions and did not see the point I was making about the labeling needing to indicate " package 1 of 2 and package 2 of 2". Lastly, I purchased a vaccine and questioned if it was given to by puppy as both my mother and I were in the room at the same time and don't remember the Dr. giving her the vaccine. It was not about costs it was simply asking what kind of vaccine was it and when was it magically given to her because we did not see it given. The Dr. did not return my call to discuss the matter in a civil and professional way. She called me at work and basically yelled my ear off. I stepped away from my desk and told her I did not want to argue and I had an appointment tomorrow and she said she can't work with me anymore. I said that is fine but I have constructive feedback so other puppies do not accidentally receive too much dewormer in the future with ineffective labeling. She cut me off and again began yelling. I was told by 2 people in Chula Vista that this doctor is from Tijuana, is rude and GHETTO and they were right, but I tried anyways. I realize my puppy is too good for this Dr.'s practice. She deserves the best and this clinic is not it. I saw lots of random breeds, old dogs and rescue's. The overnight pet hotel they host there is a JOKE. It is a line of tile showers with a soundproof door. They shove your dog in there and go about their business. BEWARE. I've been her on 3 different occasions the latest visit I had my cat groomed his haircut came out nice my concern is when I brought him home his whole backside was drenching wet I dropped him off at 1130am and he wasn't ready till 630pm and when he walked out of his carrier he had a limp in his hind leg so i waited a day to see if it still persist. I woke up and immediately checked on him and yes he was complaining about his leg in his own kitty way. They deserve 1 star because of the way they handled the situation I had called to know what went on during his visit the groomer had claimed he had peed on himself and that's why he's wet, he was there for almost 8 hours probably locked in a cage. When I spoke with the doctor she had put the blame on me and accusing me of mishandling my cat that's why he's limping then she changed the topic and said he's infested with fleas, THAT'S B.S. WE ALL KNOW FLEAS YOU CAN SEE EM, FEEL EM, THEY DRIVE YOU NUTS THERE EVERYWHERE YOU WAKE UP WITH BITES OUT OF NOWHERE. MY CAT DOSNT HAVE FLEAS NOR SHOW ANY SIGNS OF FLEAS. IF FLEAS WERE THE CASE MY BABIES WOULD BE COVERED IN BUG BITES. instead of solving the problem the doctor wants to charge me more just to take a look at him and deny any responsibility for there mishandling of my cat. In the end the doctor hung up the phone on me in mid sentence and no desire to handle the situation. DON'T BRING YOUR PETS HERE THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED.... Read Less

We highly recommend Eastlake Village...the staff are friendly and our Dogs Bruno and Sasha enjoy their high level of service!Dr. B is awesome and considerate. This place is expensive and my dog had a severe dental disease that the vetenarians did not catch at all. Overall I am extremely disappointed with this vet and hope this does not happen to anyone else. Read Less

We took our dog Xena here to get groomed for the second time and told them to do the same cut as the first time. A "puppy" cut. Well Xena surely wasn't cut short enough the second time, and her hair was much longer than the first time we came. We expressed our disappointment and asked if we could come in to get her cut shorter or get 50% off our next visit as she's going to need another cut sooner than we wanted. Well, both the groomer and owner argued with us saying we were "happy" with the cut when we picked her up. This simply isn't true; we immediately voiced our disappointment with the length but didn't have the time to wait another 30 minutes. Whatever happened to the customer coming first? They obviously don't know how to run a business and keep customers happy and coming back. Read Less

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!! DO NOT GET SERVICE DONE HERE. THEY WILL REFUSE SERVICE AND YELL AT YOU. Grooming is WAY to expensive!( Just go to PetSmart!) We had plans for our dog to do boarding here and they cancled it and said they dont want to do it. But before that we asked if we can see the kennel where my dog would stay, they didnt show us but i got to see a bit of it and it is VERY SMALL. The Grooming lady did a horrible grooming job and started to yell, she used to work at petco. Now i know why Petco fired her. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, DO NOT EVER GET SERVICE FOR YOUR PET HERE. I have a small menagerie and Dr.B has been phenomenal! From my senior dog down to my newborns she and staff have been so wonderful. Confident, calming, loving! Amanda up front is always very helpful, and always has a smile. I've been going to here for a little over 2 years ( and a lot in those 2 years ) and I feel like family with them!! Going to the Vet can be a stressful event because you are taking your loved pet (and the owner) out of their comfort zone. Dr. Bischel and her staff give you comfort through the whole process. She was so great with my little dog! Read Less

Dr. Bischel is the best! She is so caring and sincere in her work. You can tell the dedication and passion for her desire in helping animals. It is an amazing feeling knowing that she is there for you. It is not only her but the staff that is super friendly and makes you feel very comfortable at the clinic. My husky/malamute has been through so much these past couple of months. However, along the way Dr. Bischel and her team have helped him to live a comfortable lifestyle. I wanted to relay my experience with our veterinarian, Dr. Bischel at Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic. My little dog, Boba was getting close to being a couple months old and knew that he should be dewormed and vaccinated at about this time. On our first visit, Dr. Bischel was great helping me to understand the importance of deworming, the process of vaccines, boosters and spaying. She was very comprehensive and professional. The clinic was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly as well. Boba recieved his first shots and we will go back for a follow up in about a month. I was very satisfied going to Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic and will bring Boba for all his future veterinarian needs there. Read Less

I am grateful for the veterinarian and staff at Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic. If they hadnt been such promoters of preventative care and suggested I do a blood screen on my senior dog, Nellie, who is clinically healthy, we wouldve never known she was headed towards having serious liver and kidney problems. As of now she isnt exhibiting any signs but after doing the blood work, they noticed elevated kidney and liver values. After doing an ultrasound we know its not yet much of an issue and have put her on supplemental medications. They are always so thorough with their treatments. Thank you, Dr. Bischel.Read Less

I have been very happy bringing my dog, Guido and my cat, Cleo to Dr. Bischel for the past few years. No matter how busy they are, they always have found a way to get me in. My first experience was several years ago when I just moved to the area. Guido tore his nail was limping and constantly licking his paw. I Googled nearby veterinarians and called a couple, but it must have been very crazy dog day as they had nothing available unless it was an emergency situation. Ah.. sadly, I really did not want to cover the extra charges. I then called Eastlake Village Veterinary Clinic. They were booked as well but gave me the "Drop Off Exam" option. I could drop off Guido and the vet would examine him as soon as possible. I was a little hesitant, but the person on staff was so assuring on the phone. I went in. We've been going to this clinic with our dogs since 2011. Not only is this the only place we'll go because we trust Dr Bischel, but we also go because the staff is friendly and always look to help us all the time. If you love your pets, as we do, you'll go to see Dr Bischel. Our most senior dog just turned 15 years old. I promise you that he wouldn't be here or be as healthy if it wasn't for Dr Bischel caring for him. Everyone here loves all pets and want nothing short of the best care for them. Oh, and if you need a caring and highly professional groomer, then look no further. Chelsea does all of our dogs, and again, I will not go anywhere else to have them groomed. Our dogs look as if they've gone to a groomer that would charge more than $200 each. Chelsea charges the standard price and gives your pets the royalty treatment. We always tip her too. She's more than worth it. Don't just take my word for how great this clinic is, go check it out for yourself. By the way, we drive at least 35 miles one way to go here. Very impressed and happy with the service I recieved yesterday. Dr. Bischel was absolutely wonderful with my three rescue kitties that were all spayed and took the time to speak with me before their surgeries and after as well. After reading this review I feel I must let people know that I have been a long time client of Dr. Bischel and happened to be at the clinic the same day this woman was. I would like it known that what I witnessed was far different than what she states. I could never forget that loud woman who caused a scene with her out of control children kicking the walls from inside the exam room. I , as well as other clients that were there all breathed a sigh of relief when this woman finally left. Being a business owner myself, I would?ve asked someone like that to leave immediately and not had the patience Dr. Bischel obviously had to even try and do an exam while kids are screaming and running around. I have 3 boys of my own and that type of behavior is unacceptable. So I just had to say something so people know the other side of that story. After visiting Dr. Bischel's clinic our dog has finally been able to sleep soundly all night. The receptionists made us feel very welcomed and the staff was wonderful. The groomers made our dog look like a princess. We drove an hour to get there but will gladly do it again. This clinic has won our hearts and loyalty. We have been going to Eastlake Village for many years now and we have always received great, courteous service. Our pets have had different procedures and treatments and Dr Bischel has always been right on with her diagnosis and treatments. She is thorough and our pets come out happy and wagging their tails. If they are there for grooming they smell great for weeks! Staff is very helpful and always willing to help with anything. Even carrying dog food bags out to our car. We have referred many friends and co-workers to Eastlake and their experience has been just as great. I think the persons writing negative reviews on this clinic or the staff may have issues themselves or they are reviewing the wrong clinic. They are a busy clinic but we never feel like a number there. Our children even get candy and coloring books from Dr Bischel! I would encourage anybody to see for themselves. Absolutely WORST Vet I have ever been to. The wait time has always been at least 45 mins to an HOUR past the scheduled appointment time, but the place was convenient and I had been taking my kitties there since they were little so I put up with it. This last time was the final straw. The valley girl receptionist told me I could drop the cats off and leave them there for an hour. I show up 15 minutes early and they inform me that I can't do this, that I needed to pay 15 bucks per animal to ""board"" them, and that this would extend the amount of time I would have to wait to almost 3 HOURS! I informed the receptionist that this was not what I had been told over the phone. She scowled at me and disappeared into the back for 10 minutes. She came back up and told me I was out of luck. So I told them fine, I would wait there despite having made plans to have lunch with a friend who was only in town that afternoon. The doctor finally comes in and is immediately hostile after asking me how I was. I obviously responded ""not too happy with the service today."" She then proceeded to tell me I ""Needed Help!!"" and that I was a horrible person and that it was people like me that made her only get along with animals. Classic. It's obvious why this woman only gets along with animals, because she has ZERO customer service or people skills. After telling her to examine my animals and get the visit over with, she continued to be combative and manhandled my cat. Despite this horrible service I still paid the almost 200.00 for the damn visit, while she was in the back room talking to her staff about what an ""a**hole"" I was. HORRIBLE. Stay away at all costs. I was thinking about taking my dog here for a procedure since it is closer to my house then my usual vet. I called to compare pricing. I called a total of 3 vet clinics and this place is way expensive. Maybe they do great work, but not according to the reviews. If they had great reviews, I would consider paying a bit more. I took my Golden Retriever to this office (my regular vet is in the Otay Ranch Town Center by the dog park). I went here because my vet was booked and my Golden had an infection and needed antibiotics. I took my 2 boys (5 and 7 yrs). The woman vet (not worth mentioning her name - she probably got her vet license at Walmart or had it forged in TJ) was the rudest most unprofessional Vet I have ever encountered. My 5 yr old was swinging his legs (lightly) and was accidently tapping her leg. She turned and told him he was the ""rudest boy she's met"" then proceeded to tell me she doesn't like kids and she's not a pediatrician and became argumentative. I left and told her I wouldn't trust her with my dog. She is COLD and her people skills and unprofessionalism was horrific. My regular vet is amazing I should of waited. She should be out of business soon, she has no tact. I'll be sure to let all my friends and coworkers know about her. She should go into a profession that doesn't deal with animals or people. I wouldn't be surprised if she mistreats animals once the owners drop them off. She's a disgusting human being. She also wanted to put my dog under just to shave his neck for ""hot spots"" and clean it. My regular vet has never had to do that for my other dogs. She obviously doesn't care about animals, he's an older dog and to put him under would be a risk . All she wants is the money. I came home, shaved his neck with no problem and cleaned it. He's now on antibiotics and looking good. She's worthless!!!!!!!!!!!! Read Less
