I had to put my dog down and it was the worst day ever. When it was over, I couldn't leave him alone in the room, even though he was gone, so Savannah the tech came and held him and pet him as I left. He was already gone, but seeing that comforted me and I knew she really cared about me, and my pet. Everyone that works there seems to care about both people, and their animals. We had just moved to the area, and my dog was having a problem with one of her ears. I was concerned, and wanted to get her to a vet as soon as possible. I called here, and luckily they were able to squeeze her in the next morning. Dr.Bhullar was so great with her - he held her with such care and was very informative as to what might be the problem and the course of action. The visit was very affordable - just paid for the visit and the medicine (about $60 altogether). Dr.Bhullar is one of the warmest and caring vets I've come across. Zack is a cat we brought with us from NY we found Akaal on yelp brought him their where we had Dr Bhullar give him an exam because he had several problems in NY and he was sluggish. The doctor took Zack in and gave him a body hug and the cat did not mind at all cat acted totally comfortable with the doctor we new we had found his new vet, The cat had a history of not doing well with vets.The doctor did not run all kinds of expensive and painful tests, He told us Zack's anal glands needed to be cleaned did that and our zack was back to his normal happy self. Charged us a very reasonable rate but more importantly zack liked him  The place is clean does not over medicate we also bring our other 3 cat's their for there check up and shots. I really like this Vet. The staff are very nice and accommodating. We have a dog that is aggressive towards other animals and they are very understanding which we appreciate. I took my dog in because she was sick in February. Doctor said she had kennel cough. They treated her antibiotics and steroids. Then when that was finished she received a oral vaccine to prevent her from getting it again. Then she began to wease so I took her back and they ran tests. Blood work and radiology views. They took a day and a half to give me results. They said blood work is normal and she might have a gastrointestinal bug. They gave me antibiotics and nausea medicine. I gave her the meds and she quit eating and drinking. Now for two days I'm giving her fluids and food with a syringe. She has lost weight and looks terrible and I can still hear her breathing heavy. They're closed today and I've already spent $400. They are the worst vets I've ever been too. Tomorrow I will be getting her results and go elsewhere. Read Less

My experience with Akaal Pet Hospital changes every time that I go there. Pros: They are always very friendly and their prices have always been reasonable. The wait time when I make an appointment is not long to see the doctors. Cons: Every time I call in to refill a prescription they say they have to talk to the doctor. My pet has been on the same medication for the last 8 years or so. They always say that they will call me back within the hour but I never get a call back. I always have to call them back later in the day. When I do call and they say the doctor has approved it and your prescription is ready to pick up. When I arrive there my prescription is never ready and I have to wait for them to fill it. I took my puppy to the vet to get her fixed. She loved everyone and was very friendly. Once she got fixed she is afraid of everyone new now. She also ended up get a UTI which we had to take here there to get medicine to cure it. I ended up taking my dog to a different vet, Family's Friend Vet, and found out my dog has a birth defect that was very obvious. It was an inverted vulva. It was very obvious when the vet showed me. I would have had no idea if the vet didn't show me but I believe that Akaal should have looked when I brought my dog back so recent with another UTI. Also found out that they wanted me to get a vaccine for my dog that she didn't need. She already had this vaccine and doesn't need it. Read Less

I use to think this was a great place until the unthinkable happened. I couldn't believe it. I have a friend who desperately needed some dog food, for an elderly dog who could only eat one type of prescription food. They were out of it but Petsmart carried it. Because of an outstanding balance he would not give her a prescription to get the food at Petsmart. I was appalled. This should not have been about money but concern for this little guy. Basically willing to let him starve. What would it have hurt to write one presciption that didn't affect his business at all! The Doctor here is absolutely brilliant and caring. You can tell that everybody at Akaal is in the veterinary profession for the love of animal health and happiness. The whole staff gives your dog so much attention and love the entire time he/she is there and they'll talk to you in depth about prices and options and really would like to make sure you're a happy customer. Took my chiahuahua Smokey to Akaal when he was four months old. The staff are very professional and doctors are good. He received all his shots required and needed during his first year of birth, He never shed one tear. I guess it didn't hurt him. Every time he went back he wasn't afraid to go. Its worth the drive from anywhere in the Sacramento area to Greenback & Auburn near Petco.I'm over a half century old and have had lots of pets and vets and know quality and compassion when I see them. The doc is caring, and is helping my 17 year old cat thru what is unfortunately her end times gently. I get super service even when something happens at the last minute, and follow up calls to ensure things are going as planned. I also have seen the staff and doc check out the pets of some of our homeless folks, just because someone needed help. This is right next door to PetCo on Auburn and Greenback, though you wouldn't notice it unless looking. We were referred by staff at PetCo. Had our 4 lb. Pomeranian microchipped and teeth extracted. When we came to pick her up, she was being held on the receptionist's lap, in doggie Heaven after surgery! Appreciate the love shown to our little girl and the gentle care she received. Our 9 year old Schnoodle was in need of major dental work. The cost of canine dental work is very expensive. Our dog needed his teeth cleaned (with anesthesia and six teeth removed). We kept checking out vet prices and they ranged from $600-$1000, then we came across this vet hospital and read all of the reviews and decided to give them a try. From the 1st phone call we had a positive experience which carried on throughout the surgery. The total cost for Sammy's dental work was under $500.When we went to pick-up over beloved Sammy Dr. Bhullar, DVM came out and explained the procedure in much more detail. He showed us the teeth that he had removed and then step-by-step computer pictures of the inside of Sammy's mouth, a before and after look. We were then handed printed instructions, as well as medications for his post surgical care and encouraged to call back if we had any questions what-so-ever. We were also provided with an after hours emergency telephone number.
