I have a lot to say about this awful place. To start, my poor golden retriever Roger, had a very bad case of hip dysplasia and was not able to walk anymore. We've have Roger for 11yrs and when he started to show signs, we knew that it was time.We called the clinic asking how much it would cost to euthanize our poor dog. We told them his age, his breed and his weight, they quoted us $160-200. The appointment was set for this Monday past. When I arrived I told them I had an appointment to have my dog put down, they looked it up and there it was on the computer. They told me it was going to be $280 to have him put down.I kindly told the receptionist that my mother had called Friday to schedule the appointment and that they had quoted her $160-200. The woman then tried to tell me that my mom probably called the wrong clinic, even though they had the schedule in their computer. The main receptionist whoever she was came over and started arguing with me saying that my mom probably called when we were closed and got reconnected to the other clinic down the street. I asked her "do you share phone lines with this other clinic somehow, are you the same clinic with two locations?" She replied "No we are not" Then I asked her "then how was it possible that the phone call was rerouted to the other clinic if you don't share a line with and have no connection with them?" After that she shut up and just told me to try that clinic. We have been coming to this clinic for years, bringing our other dogs and cats for shots and other medical needs. They have always charged us but this was ridiculous. My dog was suffering in pain and they told us to go the clinic down the street. So that's what we did. They decided not to help a poor suffering dog, so we went somewhere where they would. This place is awful and all they want is your money. They don't want to help suffering animals. After 3 generations of coming to this vet, my family and I have decided to stop coming here. The doctor at this establishment is just interested in making a pretty penny out of you instead of being concerned about the well being of your pet. It is sad to say that after we have been coming here for years, we will no longer bring our babies to this doctor. If you would like your wallet to be drained of every cent that you have, then you have found the right place because if you are not able to afford the bill for your visit, then do not expect to receive treatment for your pet. I'm not saying that we expect freebies, but being in East Los Angeles, you should work with your patient to accomodate a payment plan since not everybody can afford what they charge. Usually I go to the one in Montebello and its always a good experience but last Saturday 11/19/16 I decided to go to the one in East LA and didn't like it at all. I went to put my dog to sleep they told me it would be $195 in total including the consult. I decided to go forward with the procedure since my dog grew old and she wasn't really able to get up on her own and kept loosing an excessive amount of weight. I got called in and the assistant weight my dog and asked if I wanted to be in there because it was extra. I decided to not be in there I didn't want to see my dog gone. The one thing I didn't like is that I paid for a consult and the Vet didn't even take the time to go and see my dog or even explain to me how the procedure would be done and what would happen once my dog was put to sleep. They charged me for the consult and all they did was weight my dog I could've done that myself. Yesterday 11/22/16 I decided to call acting like i've never been there and asked how much was it to put my dog down (25lbs) and they told me $145 (I paid $195) and I didn't need to pay for the consult since I just wanted to put her to sleep. I asked the person who answered the phone what do they do differently if the person wants to be inside when they put the dog to sleep and they told me nothing everything is the same they just charge extra which to me that BS, as it is you're already paying a lot of money. I asked the person what they did with the body after and they told me they put it in the freezer until Wed. that the person goes and picks up the bodies. I literally got more info from the phone call than from the people that where there the day I went. I would never take another dog to this place. I feel like they ripped me off and most of all they weren't even sensitive to the situation. I really hope they did put my dog to sleep and didn't BS me. Read Less

WORST  WORST  ANIMAL CLINIC EVER. It seams as if the people who work here are money hungry and not animal lovers... the female receptionist from the front who is on the heavy set and hardly has any eyebrow needs etiquette lessons ASAP. I believe her name was Debora and she goes by Debby. She was arguing with me, being disrespectful, rude, she has no professionalism, and in places like this being the first person you see it should be warming and friendly, not wanting to get out of there the moment you step foot in a professional work place. Debora IS SUCH A  GHETTO , RATCHET LOW CLASS SPECIES, and I say species because you can't be a human being, being what she is and how she acts. The doctor didn't have common curtesy to address our concern with my pets health issue and was completely dismissive with our concerns for my pets health.WHERE DO THEY THINK THEY ARE, BEVERLY HILLS? Reality check , This is East LA Latino base community. I have been bringing my dad's cat since she was a wee kitten 13 years ago. Although she is not a big fan of the vet, they have always taken care of her. Prices are reasonable, however, you do have to keep in mind any type of medical care can get up there. She went in sick needing surgery. If it weren't for their love, care and attention, I don't think my sweet girl would have made it. My mom always took her dog there when they need all there shoots or emergency and needs in the seventies and eighties dr. Castillo the father at that time helped us a lot he was a very good veterinarian. There was times when the father gave us credit when we didn't have the money at that time he was very generous and kind person to us and we appreciate all of his help he did for us. I was sad when I heard the father dr. Castillo passed away. He always lived above the dog and cat hospital. Horrible place!!! Beware!! The veterinarian is only looking to make money out of you. I took my Doberman here for a check up and Cassillas(the vet) wanted to me to pay for all these exams to be done on my dog. I told him that my dog has blue Doberman syndrome, but he insisted and stated that if I cared about my dog I would do it. I told him that the breeder already told me what my dog has and he got mad and said that they are not veterinarians. I decided to do first set of tests on my dog, just for him to tell me that the test is just to see how the dog is and if I want to know how to treat my dog I would have to pay another set of tests. Overall good service, they will see you even if you arrive 10 minutes before they close for lunch. I had to put are dog down, prices are high, but so is every veterinary hospital. I like the doctors, you can ask them anything, you can tell them anything. Overall, if we dare get another dog, I will be taking them here. Its also very convenient with the parking and location. Love this place..I've been taking my three four legged babies since they were born..I take them for their shots and any other problems they have...the staff is awesome with the owners/parents and our babies. I don't know about the bad reviews but from my perspective and point of view this is one of the best vet hospitals i have attended. I bring my maltese puppy here and i have to say my puppy and I feel great when entering this place. Dr. Rana is so helpful and you can really tell he loves dogs! I just love the fact that Dr. Rana and staff are really nice and helpful. Ignore the bad reviews , why not go check for yourself instead of just wondering if its good or bad. Tho this place is not my regular vet and It's not the nicest I am giving it 5 stars for compassion and great prices. A while ago i found a stray puppy in the street that had a rectal prolapse(His but was sticking out) he needed surgery and I looked around and called so many different vet clinics and discount clinics for prices and they were all charging me over $500 to perform the surgery, including anesthesia, surgery and removal of stitches. When I called Casillas vet clinic and explained the situation they agreed to do the surgery for $150.00. I immediately booked the surgery and they took great care if this puppy. I love this Vet clinic. Dr. Rana is my favorite vet here. He's always kind and gentle with my dog. I have been seeing him since June for my dog's allergies to flea bites and other general illnesses. I have a 14 year old West Highland White Terrier, "Westie!". Dr Rana is a conservative vet and doesn't order or prescribe unnecessary tests and meds. He takes his time with my Holly and he's thorough.  He answers all my questions and explains everything he's doing so that I understand what's going on. He doesn't jump the gun on symptoms that could be treated conservatively. He always greets me with a smile and a hug and remembers my Holly and her medical history. He makes me feel like my dog is as important to him as his own dog would be. I have never had any issues here. They don't even charge me an office visit for rechecks/followups. The medications aren't too expensive either. The clinic is only open Monday through Friday until 5 pm and its first come first served. It does get pretty crowded and busy but the wait goes pretty fast. The office staff and vet assistants are professional and compassionate and so helpful.  The clinic is old and and looks run down on the outside. The inside is clean but they have older equipment which doesn't matter because they have everything they need to take care of your pet. I was hesitant and unsure of what type of care I would receive here based on the appearance of the place but I was won over by Dr. Rana's personality and care for my dog. I never would have tried this place if my aunt hadn't recommended it. She brings her dogs here for shots. Dr. Rana always follows up when he says he will. He calls me with results and advice. I haven't had a vet this good in a long time. I'm stunned at how affordable this place is too. I'm used to spending $200 every time I go to the vet. Today I took Holly in for a severe allergy to a flea bite. She has been biting herself until she's raw. The doctor recommend a new medication that isn't a steroid and is going to research it first to make sure its ok for my dog given her heart problems. He gave her an antibiotic to take care of any infection she may have from open wounds. He also checked her eyes cause I noticed some discharge. He gave her some ointment for her eyes cause they were inflamed. He also squeezed her anal glands because I mentioned she had been scooting her butt across the floor. I paid $40 for all of this today. That is amazing!  This is my vet forever.  I recommend Dr. Rana to anyone who really cares about their dog. I treat mine like she's my kid. I have seen the other vet there once. He is the round, black man. He's nice but not as knowledgable or caring as Dr. Rana. I didn't care to see him. He didn't explain much to me and had me believing my dog was deaf without even examining her to make sure. I won't go back to see that vet. I wish I could schedule an appointment but coming in anytime before 5 works too. So again, go to Dr. Rana for amazing treatment. Read Less

Hadn't been here in a few years. When another clinic couldn't help my dog any longer bc they weren't a full service facility, I decided to bring her to Casillas Hospital. I was there about ten min before they opened and there were about 4 people in front of me, not bad. The process was easy and we were in a room waiting for the doctor rather quickly.Dr. Rana is great! He is treating my dog who is very sick with Anemia. He really takes the time to explain things to me and keep me updated. He called constantly during her stay at the hospital to let me know how she was doing.Best of all, the staff gave me a discount when I couldn't afford to keep my dog hospitalized any longer but still needed a blood transfusion and other treatment. It was such a relief and I am so thankful that they are truly devoted to the well being of the animals! Read Less

Not 5 stars, but pretty damn close to it. Yes it gets crowded and even hot inside but the service and attention you get here is worth it. Having a dog isn't cheap especially when they get sick, so don't get a dog of you aren't ready to take care of it. Prices have gone up a little, but what hasn't. I tried this place out for the first time on 8.17.12  Took my Rotty because he hurt his hip (common in Rotty's).  I usually go to Atlantic Animal Hospital but decided to try a new Vet because the Vet at Atlantic examines my dog about 10 ft away.  Makes sense since my dog is 90 lbs.  But I needed a confident Vet willing to examine my dog right.  I got Dr. Jahan Rana.   He was pretty informative and explained everything to us.  We got 1. X-Rays with anesthesia $1852. Comprehensive Panel $1203. Medication $504. Booster Shots (DHLP 1 yr, Parvo 6 Month) $355. And of course the visit/consultation cost $30 6. We also got Rabbies $10, Bordetella $10 and Booster shots $35 for our ChihuahaWe ended up paying $475 for everything.  Keep in mind I have a large breed so things are more expensive.  The Vet was very informative and we needed all this work anyway.  The down side is that we didn't get the X-Rays that WE paid for and a copy of the blood work but this was our fault since we didn't double check we had it before we left.  This dog stuff is pretty pricey after going through this and talking to my dog lover friend who has spent over $15,000 in Vet Bills/Operations.  So from her experience start a file for your dogs medical records and always ask for copies of everything and of course their X-Rays to compare in the future.  I might have to look for a vet who gives their customers the X-Rays WE pay for.  That was the only down side.  I also tried to do a walk in at Monterey Park Animal Hospital but you needed an appointment.  Walk ins consults costs $60 and with appointment $30. I love it here. I took my dog Buster here for his annual vaccines. The vaccines are very affordable. The front staff was very friendly very and helped me check in very quickly. After being checked in to the exam room by the knowledgeable technicians. The doctor came in and was super nice and helpful. I came here to pick up the special food for my pet that their other office did not have.When I walked in I was shocked to see how crowded it was compared to the office I was just at down the street.Despite being crowded the staff was prompt in asking how they could assist me. I told them what I needed, and when they asked for specifics I realized I wasn't sure what kind of food or how much I needed. She immediately looked up the feeding information, and offered the options for her food. Instead of pressuring me into purchasing the more expensive dry food that I would not be able to return if my pet didn't like it, she suggested I buy a couple of cans to try it out.Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable, and parking was plenty.
