Under new management. Their service has declined tremendously. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. I’ve recommended several friends and family, some whom tried since the new management and decided to go elsewhere. It’s convenient for me so I’m trying to give the new management time to improve. The new admin and receptionist are not pet or customer friendly. I’m here now and called 3 times to finally get a response and appt. I will give it a few more visits and hope for improvement. Otherwise will have to look for a new vet.

My dad brought in his dog after his dog got attacked by stray dogs that got into his yard. Took him in, they just bluntly said it's going to cost too much money and work and that it'll cost 2500 on the spot. I'm sorry, you didn't even clip his hairs and thoroughly look at his wounds and just give an estimate like that? They didn't even assess his wounds. When I saw him he was still covered in matted blood and hair. Mind you that this dog has THICK hairs. My dad refused to be treated there and brought the dog home. The vet prescribed some sort of med that just says "prescription #1" unknown medication... no clue what it is. I brought him to the hospital in Gardena, he stayed there and with medical bill wayyyyy less than what this hospital estimated. Of course the Gardena facility clipped his hairs, performed diagnostics and THEN gave me an estimate. Idk why my dad liked this place before, but I don't like how you randomly prescribe a medication without a proper label...and telling my dad that it's too much work and not giving appropriate estimate before assessing the injuries. And I went over the other day to ask what the unknown medication was because the other hospital was asking... and the lady had audacity to tell me that my dad was negligent in going AMA with the dog there? No thank you. I just didn't want to treat our dog at your facility. It was my decision to go AMA. Not my dads. Received thousand times better care elsewhere. And oh yeah, he survived. You guys thought he wasn't going to live. Alive and well. And lastly, what if someone unknowingly ingested this "prescription #1" and you guys were off hours? It's dangerous!!!!

Love this animal hospital !! There always been there for me. My dog got bit by another dog on the neck. he was bleeding so much closing his eyes. I thought I was gonna loose him. I called alameda hospital and they said they weren't on open hours but that he will open earlier for my emergency. They opened an hour earlier just for my dog! I took the same dog to get fixed and everything came out great the medication said cut into 4 pieces and give one a day maybe people get mistaken and give the whole tablet remember read the directions carefully and everything will come out fine :) and now I take my lil chihuahua here for shots and check ups best doctor ever!! He's a beautiful kind person. If it wasn't for him my dog would've not been here with me today!!

Today the scariest thing ever happened to my dog. He suffered a seizure at the groomers prior to being groomed. Luckily the Team at PetSmart Alameda location rushed my dog to Alameda Animal Hospital, they kept me informed every step of the way so that I can meet them there. When I called Alameda Animal Hospital to get directions I was told by some loser receptionists or nurse that she had turned my dog and the Petsmart agent away and sent them to Affordable Animal Hospital on Long Beach Blvd because the Vet was at lunch. This lousy loser even said to me "what was i suppose to do, the Vet is at lunch". I cant believe the bad attitude and lack of care for an emergency situation. But overall I am glad that she made that referral the Vet and nurses at Affordable Animal Hospital were absolutely the Best.... Big Props to them and 1 funky star for Alameda Animal Hospital

I am so overwhelm with joy when I found this hospital, the wait was 10 minutes top to be seen for the first time. When I came in with my 8 week old cat my 16 yr old daughter crying and the cat having seizures uncontrollably it was heart wrenching to see the kitten suffer. I had previously went to another animal care place that try to charge me $100 higher than Alameda hospital and a extra charge for medication which I could not afford. Thank GOD for Alameda Animal hospital Dr. Thomas L. Gibson save my kitten life. After the exam he knew exactly what was wrong. The cost was very affordable, the lobby clean, the environment friendly and inviting. I will be going back for more follow ups for my pet and would recommend you to do the same if you have pets. My kitten name is Bunnie a.k.a Sea Buscuit she is recovering well, what a scare....

Dr. Gibson is good too. I would highly recommend this veterinary office to anyone. No matter where you live, this is the best place to go mainly because of Terri and Dr. Gibson. The techs in the back are great too. They do a fantastic job with my dog's nails. I'm so glad I have a place that I can finally truly trust. Terri is fantastic and I like everyone else is too. Five stars for the nurse/receptionist, none for the Vet I dealt with. I have a veritable zoo at home [a German shepherd, three cats(it WAS four), a bunny and a lizard] and I've had to deal with these guys twice already. The first time, maybe a year ago one of my cats, just a kitty then, was shot with a BB gun by my asshole neighbor...they literally just stapled the wound closed and used an ace bandage as a "cast" for her shattered shoulder. Never even removed the BB or prescribed pain medicine. No wound care follow up. This last time, my neighbors evil dogs (one whiny shepherd and one husky) had somehow gotten ahold of one of the other kitties...and were about to start playing tug of war with her when my son and I saw and jumped the fence to rescue her. She was only bleeding a little, but meowing and freaking out as we rushed her to the vet. The nurse, who's behavior is the ONLY thing that deserves stars, rushed us into the back room...where we stood waiting several minutes for the dr. The cat died in our arms. Five seconds later, he walked in and put his stethoscope on her chest and says, "She's dead" before turning on his heel and leaving. As if the blood leaking from her nose and her lack of breathing hadn't already informed us. He only said two words the entire visit. Never even looked me in the eye. And had the nerve to charge me for standing in his office while my cat died. And the wait time is still a mystery, since there was NOBODY besides us there. Don't go here for emergency care, unless you want the worst vet ever.

My elderly dog needed some teeth removed and Dr. Gibson treated him with care. Teri at the front office was nice and friendly. Prices were very fair too, $30 for an office visit. I would highly recommend Dr Gibson and his staff.

I have taken all of my pets to Dr Gibson for over 10 years , I have nothing but pleasant experiences and will continue to come here. Dr Gibson has treated my dogs Junior and Coco in the past for Parvo Virus and made every efforts for my dogs to survive :) . My recent visit was on 3/6/13 , my Yorkie Lola was not eating and looking sad she had started with vomit & diarrhea (signs of Parvo) So I had someone take her in since I was stuck at work :( . Terrie the receptionist was AWESOME she helped me with the payment and took it over the phone ,communicated with me through out this ordeal . My dog Lola made it ! :) Great animal care and reasonable pricing . I'm glad I have Trupanion pet insurance , Terrie helped with the Insurance claim . Thank you Alameda Animal Hospital ! I am forever thankful ! :)

Many years ago I took my dog to get his eyes checked out because it looked like he was going blind or maybe had some catarats. This was maybe about 12 or 13 years ago and the vet gave us some cream like medicine for his eyes and some pills. My dog started to have convulsions from the medicine given to him so we stopped giving it to him and went to a different vet. The other vet said that the wrong drugs were given to the dog so that's why he had convulsions. I don't know how that place is anymore but I would not recommend this place to anyone for any reason.

Under new management. Their service has declined tremendously. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. I’ve recommended several friends and family, some whom tried since the new management and decided to go elsewhere. It’s convenient for me so I’m trying to give the new management time to improve. The new admin and receptionist are not pet or customer friendly. I’m here now and called 3 times to finally get a response and appt. I will give it a few more visits and hope for improvement. Otherwise will have to look for a new vet.

My dad brought in his dog after his dog got attacked by stray dogs that got into his yard. Took him in, they just bluntly said it's going to cost too much money and work and that it'll cost 2500 on the spot. I'm sorry, you didn't even clip his hairs and thoroughly look at his wounds and just give an estimate like that? They didn't even assess his wounds. When I saw him he was still covered in matted blood and hair. Mind you that this dog has THICK hairs. My dad refused to be treated there and brought the dog home. The vet prescribed some sort of med that just says "prescription #1" unknown medication... no clue what it is. I brought him to the hospital in Gardena, he stayed there and with medical bill wayyyyy less than what this hospital estimated. Of course the Gardena facility clipped his hairs, performed diagnostics and THEN gave me an estimate. Idk why my dad liked this place before, but I don't like how you randomly prescribe a medication without a proper label...and telling my dad that it's too much work and not giving appropriate estimate before assessing the injuries. And I went over the other day to ask what the unknown medication was because the other hospital was asking... and the lady had audacity to tell me that my dad was negligent in going AMA with the dog there? No thank you. I just didn't want to treat our dog at your facility. It was my decision to go AMA. Not my dads. Received thousand times better care elsewhere. And oh yeah, he survived. You guys thought he wasn't going to live. Alive and well. And lastly, what if someone unknowingly ingested this "prescription #1" and you guys were off hours? It's dangerous!!!!

Love this animal hospital !! There always been there for me. My dog got bit by another dog on the neck. he was bleeding so much closing his eyes. I thought I was gonna loose him. I called alameda hospital and they said they weren't on open hours but that he will open earlier for my emergency. They opened an hour earlier just for my dog! I took the same dog to get fixed and everything came out great the medication said cut into 4 pieces and give one a day maybe people get mistaken and give the whole tablet remember read the directions carefully and everything will come out fine :) and now I take my lil chihuahua here for shots and check ups best doctor ever!! He's a beautiful kind person. If it wasn't for him my dog would've not been here with me today!!

Today the scariest thing ever happened to my dog. He suffered a seizure at the groomers prior to being groomed. Luckily the Team at PetSmart Alameda location rushed my dog to Alameda Animal Hospital, they kept me informed every step of the way so that I can meet them there. When I called Alameda Animal Hospital to get directions I was told by some loser receptionists or nurse that she had turned my dog and the Petsmart agent away and sent them to Affordable Animal Hospital on Long Beach Blvd because the Vet was at lunch. This lousy loser even said to me "what was i suppose to do, the Vet is at lunch". I cant believe the bad attitude and lack of care for an emergency situation. But overall I am glad that she made that referral the Vet and nurses at Affordable Animal Hospital were absolutely the Best.... Big Props to them and 1 funky star for Alameda Animal Hospital

I am so overwhelm with joy when I found this hospital, the wait was 10 minutes top to be seen for the first time. When I came in with my 8 week old cat my 16 yr old daughter crying and the cat having seizures uncontrollably it was heart wrenching to see the kitten suffer. I had previously went to another animal care place that try to charge me $100 higher than Alameda hospital and a extra charge for medication which I could not afford. Thank GOD for Alameda Animal hospital Dr. Thomas L. Gibson save my kitten life. After the exam he knew exactly what was wrong. The cost was very affordable, the lobby clean, the environment friendly and inviting. I will be going back for more follow ups for my pet and would recommend you to do the same if you have pets. My kitten name is Bunnie a.k.a Sea Buscuit she is recovering well, what a scare....

Dr. Gibson is good too. I would highly recommend this veterinary office to anyone. No matter where you live, this is the best place to go mainly because of Terri and Dr. Gibson. The techs in the back are great too. They do a fantastic job with my dog's nails. I'm so glad I have a place that I can finally truly trust. Terri is fantastic and I like everyone else is too. Five stars for the nurse/receptionist, none for the Vet I dealt with. I have a veritable zoo at home [a German shepherd, three cats(it WAS four), a bunny and a lizard] and I've had to deal with these guys twice already. The first time, maybe a year ago one of my cats, just a kitty then, was shot with a BB gun by my asshole neighbor...they literally just stapled the wound closed and used an ace bandage as a "cast" for her shattered shoulder. Never even removed the BB or prescribed pain medicine. No wound care follow up. This last time, my neighbors evil dogs (one whiny shepherd and one husky) had somehow gotten ahold of one of the other kitties...and were about to start playing tug of war with her when my son and I saw and jumped the fence to rescue her. She was only bleeding a little, but meowing and freaking out as we rushed her to the vet. The nurse, who's behavior is the ONLY thing that deserves stars, rushed us into the back room...where we stood waiting several minutes for the dr. The cat died in our arms. Five seconds later, he walked in and put his stethoscope on her chest and says, "She's dead" before turning on his heel and leaving. As if the blood leaking from her nose and her lack of breathing hadn't already informed us. He only said two words the entire visit. Never even looked me in the eye. And had the nerve to charge me for standing in his office while my cat died. And the wait time is still a mystery, since there was NOBODY besides us there. Don't go here for emergency care, unless you want the worst vet ever.

My elderly dog needed some teeth removed and Dr. Gibson treated him with care. Teri at the front office was nice and friendly. Prices were very fair too, $30 for an office visit. I would highly recommend Dr Gibson and his staff.

I have taken all of my pets to Dr Gibson for over 10 years , I have nothing but pleasant experiences and will continue to come here. Dr Gibson has treated my dogs Junior and Coco in the past for Parvo Virus and made every efforts for my dogs to survive :) . My recent visit was on 3/6/13 , my Yorkie Lola was not eating and looking sad she had started with vomit & diarrhea (signs of Parvo) So I had someone take her in since I was stuck at work :( . Terrie the receptionist was AWESOME she helped me with the payment and took it over the phone ,communicated with me through out this ordeal . My dog Lola made it ! :) Great animal care and reasonable pricing . I'm glad I have Trupanion pet insurance , Terrie helped with the Insurance claim . Thank you Alameda Animal Hospital ! I am forever thankful ! :)

Many years ago I took my dog to get his eyes checked out because it looked like he was going blind or maybe had some catarats. This was maybe about 12 or 13 years ago and the vet gave us some cream like medicine for his eyes and some pills. My dog started to have convulsions from the medicine given to him so we stopped giving it to him and went to a different vet. The other vet said that the wrong drugs were given to the dog so that's why he had convulsions. I don't know how that place is anymore but I would not recommend this place to anyone for any reason.
