We started coming here 4 years ago when we adopted our beagle, Theo. Since then, he’s had a ruptured anal gland, multiple skin and ear infections, a serious eye infection, chocolate poisoning, etc and they’ve been through it with us from day 1. Even when we’d take him to an emergency vet at night, they’d call in the morning and offer us a follow up visit at no cost and check in on him. He has some serious allergies and has to see a vet every few weeks for an allergy shot and ...anal gland expression and they’re always so happy to see him. We’ve considered switching vets now that we live in San Clemente - but I don’t like anyone as much as them. :) So much so that I drive the half hour twice a month! We’ve worked mostly with Diane, Kristen, and Dani and they’re all incredibly great people! Their compassion towards animals really shines through and even though Theo isn’t always excited to see them (what dog likes the vet?!) they treat him amazingly and he’s always happy by the end of the appointment! We've been coming to Dr. Radovich for close to 22 years. When it was time to say goodbye to our labs, the entire staff was compassionate, supportive and gave us the time we needed. They are a very honest office, and up front giving options. We were part of the evacuation in Anaheim Hills a few weeks ago, called them at 5:30 and asked if we could board our dobe and shepherd. (After being evacuated from where we evacuated to) Not only did they board them, but gave us a discount on the bill because it was an emergency situation. We have taken our dog to a few vets just because we moved a little farther away and it wasn't convenient to come here anymore. What a mistake that was. Airport-Irvine animal hospital is the ONLY place we've taken our lab Charlie that actually helped her.  They are kind, compassionate and always have been able to work her in when she's had an issue pop up. She's an older dog so it happens. The docs take the time necessary to make her feel at ease ( she has so much anxiety... ) and they answer all of our questions. And the front desk staff is amazing. I have been bringing my dogs to this vet for years now and I absolutely love everyone on staff from the vet techs to the doctors. My dog Teddy had severe heart failure and with their loving care I was able to keep him alive and functional for 2 1/2 years. I took my dog here a while back when she was very sick. The doctor suggested test after test after test...  This hospital is clearly in it just for the money. They didn't seem to care much that my dog was on deaths door. All of the tests and 6 (!) medications they put my dog on were outrageously expensive. They also told me to keep coming back so they could run more tests. I only recommend this place if you have some serious money to throw away. I gave this place 3 stars because in the end they did help my dog. It just flattened my wallet to get there. I will not be coming back here again. Read Less

our pup died on xmas eve, while we were driving thru Irvine, we're from Northern California and we weren't a patient there, we called and they told us to come in right away, they did all they could for us, and our pup however nothing could be done. they gave us a private room to be alone with our baby, for as long as we needed, they made a very difficult time as easy on us as they could. their bedside manner is impeccable, they were outstanding. They were always taken care of with the utmost love, patience, and meticulous care. I have had experience with at least 3 to 4 of their doctors and I've liked all of them very much. i had them as my vet for my loving dogs for over 25 years.since then i have moved out of california. they are the best of the best vets for your animals. i can not say enough about them but since i left california i really miss them for my animals.one of my dogs they saved her life over chewing gum..one of the ingredients in gum is zylatol. it is a sweetner they put in many different products. back in the days it was just coming out as a threat to animals. i did not hear about it but my one dog got into gum as she had before. i called the vet just to be sure as she chewed a few sticks. more than usual..they asked me to bring her in just to check her out. well had i not takin her to them she would have died with in hours. they kept me calm til i got her there so i wouldn't have an accident on the way and then rushed her to the back.. then told me about this awful awful danger of this zylatol.. she was basically one of their first experiences that had eaten this. i will forever be grateful to them for saving my mocha's life. don't ever doubt as they are the best in the world and so loving and caring for our wonderful animals..i will always be grateful to them.. Love Airport Irvine Animal Hospital. Love all the Vets, but my favorite is Dr. Radovich. He is the best Vet we have ever had. We are on our 2nd set of Maltese, so we have been through check-ups through surgeries, and also losses. So far, all have been from old age. Doc managed to keep one of our dogs to the age of 18 1/2, and I attribute it that to great diagnosis time after time, and proper treatments. Highly recommend AIAH!! Read Less

Best experience ever! I have a 4 month old mini Aussie who has been sick from day one. My previous vet kept running the same tests and had no game plan to get her healthy. Irvine animal hospital got me in the same day my poor puppy had liquid poop. Dr. Vitti was a lifesaver! Instead of running a fecal test for the hundredth time like the previous vet, she suggested making big changes to her diet to get to the root of the problem. She chatted with me for about 30 min and explained why my dog could be getting sick. I have found our forever vet! I walked in, expressed my dogs symptoms and told them i had a budget of $200 and they kept it WAY under. My bullie is back to 100% and we couldn't be happier. The doctors are always very thorough and the charges are always reasonable. I first came in to see you in July, 2003 with a small 4 week orange male tabby (Bailey) that my son brought over to my condo with his eye totally infected.  He found this kitten in a dumpster.  You took care of him, giving him the proper shots and eye medication and antibiotics and informed me after a few visits that he would be blind in his one eye and it would eventually have to be removed.  You were his vet until two years later when I moved to Dana Point.  However, when Bailey seemed to have an ear infection I took him to another vet in Laguna Beach (Dr. Susan Davis - BIG MISTAKE) instead of taking him to Dr. Craft (who you recommended)-  her associate vet gave him an antibiotic shot along with a booster shot at the same time. Costing me $$$$.   One day later he would not eat, would not drink, did not use his litter box and was hiding and acting spastic - - long story short took him to an emergency veterinarian hospital in Mission Viejo at 10 pm where they re-hydrated him with IV fluids because he had a fever exceeding 108 and kept him overnight for $900.  I picked him up the next morning (Friday) and returned to the vet in Laguna Beach where she said she couldn't help him and referred me to a "specialist" that would charge $1200 to walk in the door.  I called you at 4:45 pm that day and you said to bring in Bailey and you would wait for him - because of traffic I didn't arrive at your office until after 6 pm on a Friday night.  You knew exactly what was wrong with him, stating giving a booster shot AND an antibiotic shot at the same time should never be done.  You gave him a cortisone shot and told me to bring him back in the morning.  He was 50% better that night and by the next day was 90% better and by the end of the week was doing just fine.  Since that time I recommended you to all my friends at church, at work and all my family.  I wish I could find another vet like you here in Arizona - they just don't meet up to my standards because of you.  Bailey is now 12 and an indoor car living in a wonderful home and healthy!Five years ago I brought in Bailey and my son's cat, "Cow" to get shots and an overall certificate since we were going on a month long car trip to New York.  Again, you and your staff ARE THE BEST.  Your staff helped with ideas to keep the cats' safe and calm which worked - they were in cat carriers in the car 6-7 hours a day for a month and they were calm and happy.Since that time I have called you and you have returned my call on a concern I had about my son's 17 year old cat ("Cow") that had developed a thyroid condition.  Again, you helped and even told me that the special diabetic food "cannot" be mixed with other food which is something the vet here in Arizona never told us.Then again I gave your name to my friend, Lisa L. who is a dear, dear friend dealing with a cancer/tumor ridden Rottweiler.  You returned her call and gave her so much information.  She informed me what you had said and was so grateful and thankful to you for your helping her understand more about Rottweilers and her situation - something her own vet didn't do.  She is now going to recommend you to all her friends and family and she's bringing in her dog in to see you tomorrow.THANK YOU DR. I would give it a zero if that was an option. The worst vet clinician known to the free world is Dr. R. She couldn't diagnose the difference between heart disease and pancreatitis if she had a book to read from. Tried to charge for treatments I didn't approve. Said "that's what I do!" OMG! Then called my adult children liars. Thank goodness my kids have a voice and called her out. Do not take your animals here. The prices are way to high as well. I mean more than if you went to Newport Beach. So there are nicer better vets who don't try to milk you for money but actually take care of your animal. Read Less

I went there I was crying, my dog was sick the Dr checked on him and he said he has a back pain and it might be disk! ! And depend on that he gave him a shot and pils ... and he said he will be fine after few hours but unfortunately he didn't take my dog's situation as serious as it is and my dog passed away after exactly 3 hours !!!!! After one hour my dog was in bad situation and I had to take him again to the emergency and they told me my dog doesn't have a back pain his problem is more serious !!! I've been coming here for about 2 years (after realizing Banfield wasn't gonna cut it).  I've seen Dr. Coston, Dr. Radovich and most recently Dr. Haley.  I've nothing but great things to say about all of them.  They take their time with my Boxer/Staffie mix (Riggins) and he's always happy to return for checkups.  The vet techs also do his nails for me and they are great with him.  The staff remembers Riggins by name and are always up for a good chat.  Another thing worth mentioning is the other clients, so very friendly and caring about others' pets, not just their own.  I get the idea that AIAH has clients for life.  Thank you everyone! After taking Yancy to a local Vet in Norwalk who could seem to care less, AIAH and Dr. Radovich & Dr. Coston were the only ones to treat him. I made the 30 mile drive to AIAH because they are worth it. The entire staff treats you like family with a sick member and not simply another customer. If you love your animal as much as I loved Yancy, and you are local, or don't mind the drive (they open at 0730 and close 6:00pm) don't trust anyone else with their care. Read Less

My experience with AIAH is consistent with some of the other reviews here. I do feel as if they are money grubbing. I've been hit with various fees which just didn't seem justified. I reluctantly paid up as the fees weren't too exorbitant.. just irritating. I have had positive interactions with the doctors and have nothing negative to say about their care. In fact, this is what prevents me from rating this place a one star rating.What really irks me is their policy on meds. If you don't buy the meds through them, they make the process very difficult. In order to have your prescription filled elsewhere, you have to get a handwritten prescription from them. They will not fax or mail it to the pet pharmacy of your choice to make life easy on you. Instead you must drive in and pick up the prescription. For some, this might not be an issue. For me, it's a pain... enough to prompt me to find a more convenient vet. They claim that this is to protect the pet from expired meds but I don't buy that. I believe it's an attempt to force the purchase form their source. If it were for the pets protection, fine, I am a big boy and I can read the expiration date. Read Less

This has been my favorite vet hospital for the past 5 years.  I got a referral from the pug rescue group after I was dissatisfied with my old vet, who would charge me each and every time for an office visit, whether it was just for shots, a recheck, or labs, and there was a lot of up selling with meds and tests.I am very picky when it comes to my dogs care, as I am an RN, and want the best for them.  I see Dr. Renehan here with my pugs, who goes out of her way to explain things thoroughly, and is very kind and caring.  I don't feel nickeled and dimed here; they are reasonable with their fees, and don't up sell extra tests or meds. The medical care my pugs receive is thorough and complete, and Dr. Renehan is akin to thorough, critical care medicine for people, but for pets.  My one of my two pugs has complex medical issues, and Dr. Renehan is skilled and her expertise shows in her vet care.   I have to drive an extra 20 minutes to get to this clinic, but I feel it is well worth it, for the expert, compassionate, and reasonably priced vet care.A couple of years back, their front office wasn't always pleasant and courteous to clients in person and on the phone, (there was 1 person I had an issue with who seems not to work there anymore),  but they have greatly improved their front office staff in the past year.  The back office staff treats my dogs like the rock stars they are!  Check out Airport  Irvine Animal Hospital for the very best vet care for your very important pets.  You won't be be disappointed! I moved to OC from LA. I moved from office to office, until via word of mouth I found Airport Irvine Animal Hospital. They have been the best vets I have ever had. They have done some work that other vets refused to do on my old dog. She had several bumps on her back and she had a camel looking back. They were able to locally treat and take it off. My old dog that just passed made it to thirteen, she was blind and fragile and they were gentle with her.  I generally see Dr. Renehan. Also I have seen Dr. Coston. Other Doctors I have seen are Dr. Radovich and  Haley. They are all competent doctors with great compassion. I love the front staff, they are sweet caring and always go the extra mile. The vet techs and the general atmosphere in the office is very comfortable to me. I HIGHLY recommend this group. They will take care of your animals. Read Less

My neighbor referred me to this animal hospital, and even told me that 2 more of our neighbors bring their pets here too.  With so many stamps of approval, I had to pay a visit.During my first visit, I saw Dr. Haley who was very friendly and super helpful.  Luckily, my dog got a clean bill of health, considering she just came from the shelter, but we ended up spending almost 2 hours there to do a fecal check, urinalysis, anal sac expression, and a blood test for heartworms (+ one dose of antiparasitic medication to take home).  I was starting to worry about the bill with all this work being done, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (~$170 with free shelter pet check).The staff members whom I've met (including the front desk) were all friendly too.  And most importantly, they/doctor didn't try to sell extra services or products to me.  They pretty much have a laid back stance so I didn't feel any pressure to go with all of their recommendations.I also found out that they do boarding, so I'll definitely check it out in case I plan to go out of town.
