Let me start by saying, that I HATE writing yelp reviews. Let me continue by saying, that I could have written this review two years ago when I started taking my two senior dogs to Acadia, because I knew I had found a gem...but I never got around to it.When you visit Acadia, what you will discover is a team of people, who are not only extremely competent and professional, but also friendly, kind, enjoy working together and enjoy their jobs.In a Nutshell:  Precise diagnoses, skilled surgical procedures, exact Rx dosages and clear communication.This is only the second yelp review I've ever written, but I really couldn't go another day without doing it, because you see folks, I had to put one of those senior dogs down a month ago.  You will never know what it feels like to hug, kiss and pet your dog as he passes away...until you do.  What I can tell you, is that the kindness, compassion, and the environment that they prepared for us was everything we could have wanted or needed it to be.I think that covers it.....Great veterinary healthcare, by a competent group of caring people. Dr. G is an amazing veterinarian!I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time. I have been taking my Pembroke Welsh Corgi to Acadia for over a year now.The staff at Acadia was warm and friendly and my dog Cuddles immediately took to them. Dr. G ran tests and treated him and he was all better.I think going to Acadia is similar to going to a doctor in private practice. There is so much more attention to quality and the patient client relationship. I can trust the doctor completely knowing that he is not only the best doctor in the area but truly appreciates Cuddles as his client.I found Acadia after a desperate search when my dog exhibited signs of illness. Adobe hospital told me they did not have any open appointments that day but could squeeze Cuddles in if I paid the urgent care price. That did not make sense at all. Way to treat one of your patients.  If they had a doctor available to see him during business hours, why should I have to pay for after hours care? There are many issues that I've had with that clinic such as having to see a different doctor all the time, the receptionist not knowing who I am or who my pet is, doctors running tests that were unnecessary,  or just a general feeling of being treated like a cash cow and not a person.I love Acadia Veterinary Clinic because they provide the very best care for Cuddles and I can tell they really care about my pet. Came here with a groupon. Totally thought I would get the groupon experience (half ass service, you get what you pay for mentality) but everyone was great. Reception was warm. Doctors were cool, let me purchase ear cleaning items through my Amazon account instead of paying full price through whatever the hell they order through.  That's what I hate, when they send you home with items you didn't ask for and charge full price when you could have gone a less expensive route. Been coming to Acadia for a few years now for my 80lb Staffordshire and my 3-legged fluffball of a cat, and the staff and vet are always so exceptionally nice and the prices are always on the inexpensive side of fair. =) It's going to be quite a chore to find a suitable replacement after we move away!Thanks for being such amazing people and taking such good care of our loved ones! The vet at Acadia, Dr.Eric, is a really nice and personable guy but he expressed my dog's anal glands at just twelve weeks without talking me through other options. I went to the Whole Pet Vet to see Dr.Krick who told me anal glands should not be expressed unless there are no other options because they can get damaged, she recommended instead using microflora and micro fauna in my dog's diet as well as pumpkin which worked much better for him.  Also, the first time I went to Acadia, about a month and a half back, my dog was having issues with an extremely sore mouth, and Dr. Eric told me that he just has a cut in the gum. But going for a second opinion at The Whole Pet Vet, it was found that the cut in my dog's gum was really a tooth fracture, which would make sense because had caused him so much pain. I'm giving two stars instead of one because Dr.Eric is a super nice guy and Acadia does have really good pricing and is great for easy routine things like vaccinations. But for real diagnosing and treatment, I would go with The Whole Pet Vet instead. Read Less

I took my mini aussie for the first time for a routine check-up to Dr. Griesshaber and I was very pleased with the feedback he was giving me. My mini aussie Roy came in with a limping hind leg and he explained to me thoroughly what were some things he might have hurt. He prescribed Roy an anti inflammatory and suggested if the limping did not go away within 2 weeks or so to call to schedule an x-ray. Thank you Acadia, Roy and I had a pleasant experience with you. I went to this vet for about 2 years. Was never really comfortable with Dr. Griesshaber's constant vacant stare and the weird pauses after I would ask him basic medical questions. Honestly, he seemed ...off.. every time I was there. He did an okay job with my cats, but he did not seem very interested, invested or knowledgeable about up to date medical advances. He gives off an apathic vibe and it seems be to just a job for him and not something he is at all passionate about. The final straw for me was when he made a really bizarre comment to me about my sick cat that was being treated for an on-going medical condition. He said that since cats 'can't talk' he really couldn't say how the cat felt. Obviously, I wasn't asking him how my cat "felt". I was asking him for his professional/ medical opinion on my cats overall health & specific medical condition & how we were treating it, etc. I honestly felt that he just wasn't very smart or interested in animals. His offices are clean, though the restroom is basically a storage room with pet food/supplies/etc and not great. It's a small office. The receptionist is semi-friendly. I guess I was okay with it until that ridiculous comment he made to me and then I switched to Arch Vet in San Jose... Then I realized what I was missing. Arch Vet is a thousand times better. it has gone really downhill since dr jones left. I really don't trust that the current vet really takes enough time to figure out what is the problem, and there have been several incidents where he went ahead with expensive tests that i said we did not want- specifically, I found out on the invoice that he had charged us for a $500 ultrasound and he always seems to be adding unnecessary charges. I am all for getting my dog the best care and don't mind moving to a more expensive clinic, but I want to know my pet gets the best care Read Less

Acadia Veterinary is a top of the line veterinary establishment that I highly recommend. I brought my cat Zeus in for a check up and shots. From the moment I walked in, I felt well taken care of. My cat is very apprehensive of new situations and new people. The staff and the ambiance of the clinic made him feel right at home.I used to frequent a veterinarian in Los Altos. Although my previous veterinarian was a satisfactory clinic, I am glad that I chose Acadia for several reasons. First of all, the business is in close proximity to Los Altos, just right over the 280 overpass. Second, there is a personalized level of care that cannot be found at any other veterinary clinic in the area. Third, the pricing of veterinary care is far below what you receive in value.I cannot imagine taking my cat to any other doctor. Danielle at the front desk is so kind, warm, and just absolutely fantastic from the beginning of the visit to check out. Dr. Grieshabber is top notch in his field. He has given me advice on everything from medical to dental to behavioral issues and all of his advice is effective. Read Less

This vet is seriously amazing! I had tried 4 vets before following a family member's recommendation to bring my dog here. My dog has a lot of health issues considering he's only a little over a year. At Acadia they were extremely thorough reviewing his previous medical history and listening to my concerns and long explanation of everything Remmy had gone through health wise. They were accommodating with appointments, worked seamlessly with my Trupanion pet insurance (even sorting out a problem Trupanion made by resubmitting info and saving me the time and effort of sending it in), and understood my extremely tight budget and monetary concerns while still wanting the best for my dog! They were always willing to talk over the phone and refer to the vet for any detailed or important questions I had if I wasn't able to come in (I worked in Half Moon Bay and couldn't just pop over). They even worked well with a vet dermatologist seamlessly, no extra effort on my part! They always recommend top of the line products and really I can't say enough good things about them! The doc was fantastic with my cat. He takes his time and makes your pet comfortable, petting and reassuring them, before beginning the actual examination. He understands the animals he's examining. So many vets just want to get in there, start shoving things into your pet, palpitating them and squishing stuff. It's refreshing to have a non-hurried, calming vet visit.He also doesn't try and sell anything to you during the visit, unlike so many other vets. He makes reasonable recommendations and talks about the whole health of the pet, not just a singular symptom. Though I'm actually overdue for taking my little buddy back for a revisit, Dr. Eric is my vet of choice from here out. Read Less

After having to fire my last vet (see my review for Alta Vista) coming here is a breath of fresh air because everyone is always excited to see my dog and the doctors/staff are always honest with me. This place was great when Dr. Jones worked here. Dr. Jones was the best vet I had ever taken my animals too. I also really enjoyed how close the location was to my house.I would have to say though that I will no longer be coming to this Vet office for two main reasons: 1. The last three times we have come here we have always had bills for over $1000. 2. The hours they have posted are from 8am to 6pm. Every time I have come here I have always received a call to come pick my cat up at 4pm and bring her back the next day at 8am. The third time I took my cat I was really upset about this and asked why I had to come pick my animal up early and the response I got was that the Dr. wanted to go home early. I really like supporting businesses near my house and gave this clinic three chances. I think from now on I will start making the longer drive to a new vet because paying more than $1000 per visit is starting to look more like a human medical bill than an animal one. Read Less

Somi, my mini schnauzer, needed his vaccines and i didn't feel like going on a drive out to the almaden area to his usual vet so i came to my local vet which is just down the street.  Acadia was having a 25% off vaccines sale which was a plus and I felt that it was time to go to our local vet. The receptionist was very welcoming and had me fill out all the necessary forms and explained some questions I had in a very professional manner. A friend of mine recently became ill and I helped her take care of her ten (!!) pets while she was hospitalized.  Dr. G and staff were REALLY accommodating, letting me squeeze in six dogs for vaccines with pretty much zero notice so that they could be boarded, and asking after my friend's health as well as her animals. (The clinic was so quiet that afternoon, I suspect that they were squeezing us in during their lunch break!)I was in several times with cats as well, and the entire staff was warm and pleasant.  They were even able to get blood from a cat who I would cal feral..she shredded my sister's arms when we caught her to take her in(I'm a former RVT and she is a VERY cat-comptent RVT), I have NO idea how they managed to get blood from her!I found Dr. G to be very compassionate, ethical, and professional. I've never seen so much compassion and love towards our little Angel in the past with other doctors! He seemed genuinely concerned about her health and well being. Phenomenal doctor! Dr. G takes care of my cats Hoagie and Dusty.  I have seen both Dr. G's actually and they are both really great with my cats .  I'm always nervous after having a hard time getting them in their carriers and getting them to the vet but everyone at the office is very good with them.  From the front staff, to the back staff and the doctors, everyone seems to be very nice and caring.  I know that my animals are in very good hands.  As far as the cost; it doesn't seem to be any worse than other offices in my experience.  I have previously spent a pretty penny at emergency vets for simple procedures.UPDATE:  I am confused as to why my review was filtered by Yelp. I am a real person that really takes my cats to this vet office.  I noticed that a whole bunch of good reviews were "filtered."  I would just like to clarify that I am actually a client with good experiences here. I remember as a kid I would come and see Dr. Jones all the time because my cat had severe Kidney problems. When other vets told us the only solution was to put our very ill cat to sleep he always found out what the problem was and fixed it immediately.From my understanding, Dr. Jones retired and sold his practice to Dr. Griesshaber. Their service was great but I found that the prices are really expensive. A procedure that would have previously been about $300 ended up costing me $725. What saddens me the most about this place is when Dr. Jones worked here the place was always crowded with people and everyone I knew that went to school sent there pets there when they were sick. Very ethical!  I just moved here from NC and my dog apparently got into some poison in the yard where we are renting temporarily.  I rushed her to the nearest vet, which was dr. Griesshaber at Acadia.  They saw us right away with no appointment or record on file.  I am sure they could have recommended costly treatment such as blood tests and x-rays, but dr.G was confident, after a thorough exam, that she would be fine.  They even called the next morning to check on her. I have been taking my pets here since I was a little girl - so probably 25 years or so (I guess my parents took them when I was that little). Dr. Jones owned and ran Acadia for years and has sold it to the Griesshabers (as I understand).  Anyway, Dr. Jones is the best.  He really helped my cat Marble, and dog Buffy.  Buffy had to be put down when I was 13 and the transition was done there.  It was a sad day, but Dr. Jones is so professional and so was his staff at the time.I can't say I know both Dr. G's yet very well.  I have met with them a couple of times about my two cats and they were very knowledgable.  Both times I went in for emergent basis - one of my cats is accident proned - some procedures were recommended (and I went along with) that were rather expensive, i.e. x-rays with no demonstration of actual pain by the cat, and eye drops for some kind of nerve problem they thought he may have had.  I get that things are expensive when you have to take your babies in to the vet...so it didn't bother me.The staff there is as friendly as can be and very attentive.  Of course my cats hate going to the vet because they know they are going to be poked and prodded, but the staff always comes in and oooohhhs and ahhhhs over my little ones.  Because, quite frankly, they are the cutest ever.It's a family feel to the place and everyone seems very genuine and caring.  I would recommend taking your pet to Acadia. After using Acadia Veterinary Hospital for 15 years I can say that I have always felt confident that my pets are getting the best treatments possible. The Drs. Griesshabers and Dr. Jones have provided exceptional service and care to my 2 German Shepherds and 2 cats. In fact, the whole Acadia team has been amazing.
