SERVICES: DIETARY / STOMACH PROBLEMS + DENTAL WORKMy dog had a bad case of constipation/bloody stool and we didn't know why. We were feeding him the same foods and nothing (that we knew of) was left on the ground for him to eat.So I took him to Cupertino Animal Hospital because it was one with above decent reviews and close to my home.Dr. Kureshi first did a formal physical exam and everything was okay. He asked me what I've been feeding him, if I knew he ate anything he shouldn't, the symptoms, etc. I've been feeding him Pedigree Small Bites and I mentioned that recently, they changed their recipe. Mr. Kureshi said its probably because he has a sensitive stomach and can't handle the food I was eating him.I didn't understand that because I've been feeding my dog the same food and he was halfway through the bag. So suddenly he has a sensitive stomach? To combat the constipation, he inserted a small stick (not all the way in) in my dog's butt. This would, as Mr. Kureshi put it, make my dog poo because he has feeling that something is there so he'll go.I've NEVER heard of such thing but I tried it anyway. I walked around with a vet tech who was going to pick up the stool and have it tested for parasites. Homeboy never went. I thought that stick idea was a waste of time (and embarrassing).Dr. Kureshi gave my dog Science Diet (Sensitive Stomach) food and extra Metamucil to see if that would help his constipation and bloody stool. For awhile, it seemed to lessen the problem but his stool was never the same. It was very mushy and didn't feel like it had any substance. However, I thought this was better than having bloody stool. When I tried to switch his dog food with another type, my dog went back to straining. So basically, he was stuck on this Science Diet food. Then, I went to a chihuahua meet up and they gave us a free bag of Ultra Holistic Dog Food. We gave our dog a few bites and guess what? He LOVED IT! AND, his poop returned back to normal. Normal as in healthy, substantial and with no straining.I agree with Joseph C. I felt like Dr. Kureshi was rushing me. I asked a lot of questions and even questioned him a few times but he assured him. I felt like he was somewhat arrogant too. I didn't leave with the best impression but I have to say, all of his vet techs were very sweet. While I was there, I ended up getting an Estimate for a dental cleaning too.We ended up going back to Cupertino Animal Hospital because it was affordable and they already had his records.I wanted to be there with my dog for the cleaning but the vets said it was "routine" and would not let me see him being put to sleep. Fine. However, the day I got him back, he looked really traumatized. Very typical I was told. Anyways, they just gave him to me, saying everything went fine and that he was okay.Well guess what. He's not okay. He has a very bad case of periodontitis and now I have to get some of his teeth removed. I had mentioned several times to them that he has REALLY bad teeth but I felt that they brushed it off. I pretty much wasted $600+ on a dental cleaning, without any follow up to the cause of his dental problems. To summarize:VERY AMATEUR WORK and NO FOLLOW UP means I will NOT return.
