Our poor Lola girl has a herniated disk in her spine. She is a 5 year old German Shepherd black lab mix. We took her to Cupertino Animal Hospital today and are extremely happy. Dr. Kureshi was so friendly and good with her. Our previous vets office, whom we had been taking Lola to since she was a puppy did not have the patience with her that Dr. K did. She gets very nervous at the vet due to being a rescue. We never had a problem with Lola at the vet or anywhere for that matter. At our last visit they stated that she was "being aggressive" in the exam room, (which we were not allowed to be in during the exam) and that she tried to bite the vet, yet she had never done anything that before. (She was getting her nails trimmed and having a lump on her muzzle examined.) I do not believe that for one second. I don't know what they were doing to her back there, but she was obviously terrified. They wanted us to pay for medication for her to be sedated at every appointment after that. I believe they just wanted more money. Instead of taking their time with her and understanding like Dr. K, they just slapped her with an aggressive label and expected us to pay extra to be seen . Not once did she become aggressive or anything close to that with Dr. K because he actually took the time to let her get to know him, and smell him before he even touched her. He was so calming and she did so well being examined, even with being in pain and getting a shot. We were actually allowed in the room with her which made her more comfortable. He made sure she felt safe and had my fiance and I pet her and hold her while he injected her with the anti inflammatory medication. She didn't even flinch. He also showed us a diagram of the canine spinal cord and explained to us in a way we could understand what he thought was happening, why he thought that, what we should do and how to treat it. I highly recommend Cupertino Animal Hospital. Plus an added bonus, it's on the same street we live on. Lola aka turbo will have to put on the brakes for a few weeks or her back legs could become paralyzed. We are so happy it wasn't something worse! The entire staff was friendly and made us feel welcome our first visit plus we got 1/2 off her first exam. I'm so happy we found Dr. Kureshi! Read Less

We searched the web for a Vet that would crop our Dane's ears and found Dr. Kureshi. We had an office consultation with him and he explained everything in full detail. He looked at pictures we brought in on how we wanted the ears done and offered suggestions as well. He is very easy to talk with and answered all question and concerns. He walked us through the procedure step by step. He never rushed us or made us feel like our questions weren't important. His ears look great and exactly how we wanted them. We highly recommend him for ear cropping and as an overall vet he is top notch! We live in Redwood City and after the surgery we decided that we would make Cupertino Animal Hospital our Dane's vet from here on out. They are definitely worth the drive. The office staff has always been very helpful over the phone as well as when we come in for appointments. They are always excited to see our Dane and give him love and treats. We have left him there a handful of times to board when we have traveled and he has been treated like family. When we walk in and our Dane see's Tara he gets so excited. You can tell she loves her job. She is friendly and full of information. When we are done with an appointment we check out with Amber and she is always quick to explain the cost and help with any questions we might have.We always feel welcome there and our Dane makes himself at home when we have an appointment. I was refer to Dr Kureshi by someone I had met in the dog park in San Mateo due to the fact that my dog had chronic ear problems. For years my dog has been treated but to no avail able to fix the problem. I decided to drive the distance to have my dog looked at and after a few months my dog now has a normal looking ear and it's the best its looked in a long time. It was worth driving to Cupertino to have Dr. Kureshi take care of him.Rusty is 13yrs old and Dr Kureshi was so gentile with him (as was his staff). Mind you - it wasn't cheap as Dr. Kureshi had to do some minor surgery, but on the whole I thought the prices was the same as anywhere else. I trust Dr Kureshi completely and will continue to bring Rusty in. Read Less

My 2 year labradoodle Rocket has had ongoing issues with his ears over a span of 18 months. I've been taking him to a well known animal hospital in Los Altos and they keep treating him for yeast infection using ear drops but the symptoms (constantly shaking his head, scratching and dark brown, smelly discharge from his ears) keeps coming back. My dog trainer recommended Dr. Kureshi to me and I am so glad I took the chance because he was able to determine what was causing the problem and it turns out it's not yeast! Dr. Kureshi uses the latest technology to get a real close look in Rocket's ears and from there, he was able to help him and now I'm very happy to say that he is symptom free and happy! I brought my older cat in to be shaved as he can't groom himself anymore and has awful mats. The doctor always recommends sedating my cat under anesthesia because my cat is usually angry during the shave. They advise not feeding your cat past 10pm the night prior. So today I brought my cat in at 745am and dropped him off. I got a call at 4pm saying they would not be able do the shave. Understandably I was pissed as my poor cat hasn't eaten for 18 hours and is completely traumatized at vet appointments. I don't know how they can wait all day while my cat fasts to then call me 2 hrs before they close to say they can't do the service. It is beyond insensitive. The woman who called me was unbelievably rude and had zero customer service skills. When I went to pick up my cat, another person was showing up for a 430 appointment and was asked to have a seat. There is only 1 doctor here. Not sure how he had time to see his 430 appointment but not my cat who had been sitting there since 745am. Perhaps they should have cancelled that appt instead of mine. Also, my poor large cat peed in his carrier, leading me to believe he was confined in the small bag all day long!!! This means his hair is covered in pee and he now needs a bath, which isn't practicable. Unbelievable! The last time I came in for an appointment, i waited in the parking lot until 755am when the office is supposed to open at 730. When the woman finally arrived, she was rude and never apologized or offered a reason for being late. I figured it was a fluke and decided to return again. Now this is the final straw!  Beware of this place. Read Less

**disclaimer** this is a repost from an old account that I had deleted. I want to repost this because I need to warn other dog owners about my experience here. We brought our min pin here for normal shots and everything seemed fine until we brought him home. He became sluggish then started vomiting and then his face swelled really bad. I called the vet back and he had actually got angry with me saying we must had given him something we shouldn't like chocolate. We did no such thing but he insisted it was our fault. I took our dog to another vet and found out that our dog was allergic to one of the shots. This smuck nearly killed our dog then had the nerve to yell at me and blame me. I take our 11 year old pug to Cupertino Animal Hospital for his Veteranary needs. I cannot say enough great things about this clinic. The staff are very warm and welcoming and their love of animals is apparent. Our pug has had chronic ear infections for years (at least 7 years). We have seen four other vets over the years who have looked in the ears and prescribed the same ear drops. Dr. Kureshi did not take this approach after hearing about how long we had been dealing with this chronic problem. He took a culture and sent it out for results to see what the best treatment plan would be. Yes, this took a few days but they outcome has been amazing. After two cycles (about 2 months) of medicine his ears are better than they have ever been. No waxy discharge, no odor and no pain! I really appreciated how the staff and Dr. Kureshi listened first and then decided on a plan to treatment. I'm very thankful for the results we have seen in our pugs ears. I highly recommend this Veteranary clinic. Read Less

So you can do the same at home?".    So the vet tech came in with a bottle of ear cleanser and another bottle of ear dry lotion, and DEMO how to use them.  Guess what?!  I was charged $51.70 for EAR SWAB and another $60 for EAR CLEANING.  I wouldn't feel so bad if they let me know in advance that they CHARGE for EVERY SINGLE "SERVICE".  I ended up with a $300 bill just for a regular check-up appointment!!! SERVICES: DIETARY / STOMACH PROBLEMS + DENTAL WORKMy dog had a bad case of constipation/bloody stool and we didn't know why. We were feeding him the same foods and nothing (that we knew of) was left on the ground for him to eat.So I took him to Cupertino Animal Hospital because it was one with above decent reviews and close to my home.Dr. Kureshi first did a formal physical exam and everything was okay. He asked me what I've been feeding him, if I knew he ate anything he shouldn't, the symptoms, etc. I've been feeding him Pedigree Small Bites and I mentioned that recently, they changed their recipe. Mr. Kureshi said its probably because he has a sensitive stomach and can't handle the food I was eating him.I didn't understand that because I've been feeding my dog the same food and he was halfway through the bag. So suddenly he has a sensitive stomach? To combat the constipation, he inserted a small stick (not all the way in) in my dog's butt. This would, as Mr. Kureshi put it, make my dog poo because he has feeling that something is there so he'll go.I've NEVER heard of such thing but I tried it anyway. I walked around with a vet tech who was going to pick up the stool and have it tested for parasites. Homeboy never went. I thought that stick idea was a waste of time (and embarrassing).Dr. Kureshi gave my dog Science Diet (Sensitive Stomach) food and extra Metamucil to see if that would help his constipation and bloody stool. For awhile, it seemed to lessen the problem but his stool was never the same. It was very mushy and didn't feel like it had any substance. However, I thought this was better than having bloody stool. When I tried to switch his dog food with another type, my dog went back to straining. So basically, he was stuck on this Science Diet food. Then, I went to a chihuahua meet up and they gave us a free bag of Ultra Holistic Dog Food. We gave our dog a few bites and guess what? He LOVED IT! AND, his poop returned back to normal. Normal as in healthy, substantial and with no straining.I agree with Joseph C. I felt like Dr. Kureshi was rushing me. I asked a lot of questions and even questioned him a few times but he assured him. I felt like he was somewhat arrogant too. I didn't leave with the best impression but I have to say, all of his vet techs were very sweet. While I was there, I ended up getting an Estimate for a dental cleaning too.We ended up going back to Cupertino Animal Hospital because it was affordable and they already had his records.I wanted to be there with my dog for the cleaning but the vets said it was "routine" and would not let me see him being put to sleep. Fine. However, the day I got him back, he looked really traumatized. Very typical I was told. Anyways, they just gave him to me, saying everything went fine and that he was okay.Well guess what. He's not okay. He has a very bad case of periodontitis and now I have to get some of his teeth removed. I had mentioned several times to them that he has REALLY bad teeth but I felt that they brushed it off. I pretty much wasted $600+ on a dental cleaning, without any follow up to the cause of his dental problems. To summarize:VERY AMATEUR WORK and NO FOLLOW UP means I will NOT return. You get what you pay for!

Read Less

Be careful of each DEMO they show you.I brought my 3 lbs yorkie there for regular check-up today.  The doctor said my dog has a really minor ear infection which is common for dogs, but she will give me some medication just to ease her itchy.  Then she asked "would you want us to show you how to clean the ear? Read Less
