My three year old Miniature Schnauzer was suddenly diagnosed with Lymphosarcoma and Dr. Pizzo never followed up with me in a timely manner, no return phone calls unless I called to ask if the doctor received my message or messages. This is honest and true, my dog passed away this past Saturday, January 27th. I left a message on Saturday afternoon to the office to notify of my heartbreaking news, I thought the doctor would care. Well, yesterday, Monday, the doctor was at the office all day and I never received a call back. Not a good feeling that your veterinarian office that you supported and took your beloved babies to over the years never even could take a minute to call and give condolences. Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m., no call back. As I write this, my previous vet in Charlotte NC whom I absolutely adored, I had called to get her advice through all of this as well, she just called me after leaving a message to last evening. I had also spoke to doctor Pizzo regarding research on Doxycycline and cancer/lymphomas that is all over the internet and reputable veterinarian schools and doctors one day and she did not know what I was talking about. As a vet shouldn't you always be up to date on research and new information when practicing at all times? Even the Cytopoint injection given to my dog in October, it was given because my Gidget's feet were red and she was licking them, no research on what it could be, doctor just stated most likely allergies. Well I learned that Cytopoint is an immune tweaking and blood cell tweaking drug that is very new on the market. As a vet I would use with caution and justified, not just giving it quickly because my dogs feet were red and guessing grass allergies. Not a good vet practice, no care, compassion, just will not go back... Please do not support this cold, no compassion, uneducated practice. There are many many more good veterinarians out there! Dr. Saunders is an incredible doctor and man. He truly deeply cares for each and every animal that comes to see him. That is the kind of person and heart I want my babies to go see. I never have to worry about anything. He is SO sweet and so gentle. He just couldn't be a more perfect animal doctor. I rarely write reviews on places but I felt this needed to be done. Dr Saunders is wonderful, kind and caring. My experience with Dr.Stone was one I could only call ludicrous and incomprehensible. My husband and I are taking our dog to live with my parents in upstate to on a horse ranch I grew up on. We went in tonight to get a simple health certificate so she could fly there. I'm pregnant and I can't take her for long walks 3 times a day like I used to.  When I explained this whole situation to him he seemed somewhat normal/pleasant at first. After examining her he came in and was a totally different person. He barked questions at us for 15 minutes and would only accept yes or no answers to each. If I expanded on any of the questions he replied in a nasty tone "that is not what I asked. ONLY REPLY YES OR NO" He was asking us like we were on trial. When I expressed I didn't like the way he was talking to me because it was upsetting  (especially someone who's pregnant) he got very defensive. He said our dog has a skin condition and that no other vet would agree with him and he has his own views on skin conditions. He was trying to push a vaccination on us for a disease I've never even heard of and he says it's "rampant" in NY. Growing up on a large farm I've seen almost every sickness an animal can get. This was not one of them. I asked him why he thought she had the skin condition and he said "I don't care!!" *holding papers walking out of the room* I said "Well I just wanted to ask you because you're a vet and you'd know more than me" he replied "Maybe, maybe not!" I said "well obviously I haven't been to veterinary school so I hope you know more than me" he didn't know what to say. After an hour of what felt like being disrespected we finally left and the sweet lady at the front was mortified by what she heard from him. She kept apologizing over and over again on his behalf. This is not a Dr. who seems to care one bit about keeping his patients. It was sad to see someone with his demeanor in that position. Read Less

Dr. Pizzo is an angel.  All the doctors here are wonderful, but I will always be a fan of Dr. Pizzo.  She would not take "cancer" for an answer with my dog.  I can't say enough nice things about this hospital.  She has changed my dogs life and ours as well.  I am forever grateful. Read Less

We have been going here for 20 years. We lived in South Orange county and recently moved to Santa Ana. We continue to trust their care as we have over the many years. Perfection.  The doctors and staff have consistently given us exquisite care under the most challenging of circumstances, doing research and providing the highest quality care for our animals. We have had some serious challenges with our cat, Nyla, who is a pure breed Abyssinian.  We have worked with every doctor in this group with both our kitten and our German Shepherd, Nyko. The staff is informed and compassionate.  The facility is small, clean and intimate--filled with people who care deeply for both animals and pet parents who are devoted to their furry friends.  I'm grateful for all this team has done for us.  Thank you golden lantern animal hospital! They were the only vet clinic out of the countless ones I called that didn't charge me an arm and a leg for a vaccine. Other vets ask for an expensive checkup first, and an appointment, blahblah, and it feels like a ripoff. Not this one! All vaccines are walk-ins in the morning, hassle-free. The staff is friendly. The shots are quick. The doc takes time to chat and give advice. Also, they're honest. Instead of charging extra for services you don't need, they will tell you that you don't need it, and send you on your way. Thank you so much! Read Less

brought our 16 yo Siberian husky for evaluation.  She has been our baby since she was a puppy.  We were concerned that it might be time to put her down. As soon as we arrived the staff were all caring and concerned about Aspen our Siberian. We waited to see Dr Hasset who was running late.  Dr Hasset was wonderful and spent a great deal of time with us and explained our options at this point - as we really did not want to put Aspen down.  She gave us some new medicine and it seems to be helping our dog, who was becoming incontinent. I have been bringing my English Cocker to Golden Lantern Animal Hospital for the past 10 yearsMy dog has had his neutering and yearly shots there. Last week I brought him in with an overgrown toenail on his front paw. The Vet interns took the dog and said the female Vet would look at him in the back room. The Intern came out and said the Vet would be removing the nail and bandaging the paw. I asked to see her and was told she was too busy to speak with me. The intern said they clipped the nail down but did not have to remove the nail afterall. Still no Vet to talk to. I was given antibiotics and told to bring him back next week to remove the bandage. I brought him in today to remove the bandage and was told the Vet left word that she wanted to give more treatment and re bandage the dog. Still no Vet to speak to. The intern took the dog into the back and removed the bandage. I asked for a copy of my 10 years of records and left.I am in the customer service business and this is just rude and arrogant behavior. A few of my neighbors have left this place as wellThe prices are high but the lack of professionalism is truly disappointing! Read Less

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Pizzo & Golden Lantern Animal Hospital. It is a clean, efficient place with super friendly staff. I feel like everyone there truly cares about our dogs. Dr. Pizzo in particular may be the best vet I've ever encountered. Her bedside manner is impeccable, she truly cares about her patients, she genuinely listens to any concerns and provides valuable feedback, and she is just so darn nice. I have been taking my babies (3 cats & now 1 pup)  to this office for about 5 years and absolutely love them! If you can (based on availability), I would definitely choose Dr. Saunders or Dr. Pizzo. They are the BEST. SOOO patient, kind, knowledgeable, helpful & wonderful with all babies. A few years ago, my kitty was almost taken by a coyote and was badly bitten... they literally saved her life. Brought her back to health with me... and she has been great ever since. I am SO grateful for this office.LASTLY, and very importantly, I LOVE the girls in the front AND THE TECHS in the back!! They are ALL so amazing and really LOVE the animals the way that we would hope. They know who you are when you walk in... start pulling your chart & know just what you need. They are super sweet & helpful. The techs are truly incredible with the animals.... I love and trust each and every one of them. :-)HIGHLY RECOMMEND this office for many reasons!! After a very bad experience at my regular vet, I went to Dr. Jenna Pizzo for the first time last week with my two cats Sam And Iris. From my first phone conversation with Savanna to speaking with Ashley I felt comfortable bringing my kitties to them. Dr. Pizzo was beyond amazing...she spent over an hour and a half gently examining my fur children. I was still so upset over my recent visit with my Dana Point vet that I was in tears and she was so sweet and understanding and gave me a real solution to my cat's problems. Nicky her assistant was also an absolute doll!!! I had already spent so much at Dr. Johnson's office with a wrong diagnosis that Dr. Pizzo worked so nicely within my budget. What I didn't realize until I got home was that she hadn't charged me for one of the flea applications. Dr. Saunders is the most compassionate and professional veterinarian I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. He cares for animals as one would care for a loved one. Our cat was under his care throughout his long life, (fifteen years thanks to Dr. Saunders) and we were thankful when Dr. Saunders was there when we had to say goodbye. You know Dr. Saunders cares when he enters the room, and the connection he has with animals. Dr. Saunders has treated my dogs (2) since birth to 13 year on my lab and 2.5 years on my new lab.  He has been there since day 1 on both pets and fortunately on the passing of my first one at 13 years old.  He geiunelly cares.  He is one of the most amazing men I have ever met.  You can see his passion in his eyes.  I have no idea why Dr. Stone was brought in.  His bedside manner is less than desirable.  He talks very poorly about dogs.   I was in shock.  If it was not for Dr.Saunders I would not have returned.  Just make sure you ask for Dr. Saunders when you go.  You will never have a bad experience.  He is totally genuine. I came here when I got kitty.  I got his first set of shots.  I was worried about a possible reaction or illness as I noticed an issue.  When I came back they did a stool sample which turned out to be nothing, but while I was there they offered a free check as I had just got him.  I said sure. I waited and met Dr. Saunders whom I like. He is nice and treated my cat well *The dr. offered me a cleaning solution for his ears for free, I agreed and thanked him.  When I got to the front desk I had a $60 extra cost on the bill for the EAR SOLUTION! I was upset yet did not speak up as I was pressured and forced to feel as I would be bad Cat parent if I didn't go along with it. Read Less

We had our first dog for only a couple of weeks and knew something was wrong. We rushed her into Golden Lantern Animal Hospital, at the suggestion of our trainer, and the folks there were immediately helpful. They took our dog almost immediately and reassured us. They suggested we leave our dog with them for a few hours. It turns out that our dog had an eye infection, a parasite and had eaten something bad. She was very sick. Over the course of 3 weeks, our puppy was seen by three different vets and all were aware of her condition. They are all excellent and immediately helpful. Siince that time, our dog has been back twice, and we have had exactly the same excellent service. In additoin to the above, the staff at Golden Lantern Animal Hospital has been immediately helpful by filling out and faxing forms to our pet insurance company and to Bed & Bones, where we board our dog occasionally.
