My experience with DVH is limited, as I've only been there 2x. However, I did want to "call out" the great experience I had with Dr. Wong, specifically.  She is so caring, gentle, thorough, and explains EVERYTHING in terms I can understand. In short, she's awesome! My dog is a rescue GSD and is quite timid and nervous in the exam room. The very first time she met my dog, she entered the room so quietly and approached my girl so slowly and gently, it put my pup immediately at ease.  She GETS dogs and the differing temperaments! In fact, I also saw her at Valley Veterinary Hospital and she came OUTSIDE to the little grassy area in the parking lot to do the exam because my dog gets so anxious in the little exam room.  How cool is that?  No other vet has EVER done anything like that. She saved my dog (and me too) sooooo much stress. She spent well over 30 minutes with us explaining ALL our options for care to address my dogs OA, and itchiness.  I left with several treatments both internal meds and topical treatments, so I can proactively treat my girl's symptoms.  I know the root cause won't change, so it's all about managing pain and ensuring the dog's comfort. Here's another example: Dr. Wong also mentioned that she performs acupuncture, which I had been seriously considering for additional pain relief for my GSD. However, I thought that my dog's shyness would be a deterrent to this treatment.  How would she ever settle down enough for the needle insertion?  But Dr. Wong said that since the backseat of my car is the dog's "happy place," Dr. Wong could administer the treatment there.  Wow!! What vet is willing to go the extra mile for the comfort of the animal and not the convenience of the vet?  Few if any and none that I've encountered thus far, until meeting Dr. Wong. Read Less

Not happy with their communication. They told me they could take my dog in for de-matting, a bath and nail trim which I was super happy with. Dropped the dog off and about 45 minutes later they call to say he should be shaved instead but he's having his bath and nail trim now and they'd let me know when he was done. Why wasn't I called before they stuck him in a bath?!? I called back a minute later to confirm that they had in fact started his bath otherwise I would go pick him up and the other receptionist told me he was already under the dryer. Then I have to call every single salon in the nearby areas to see if one by chance could take my now clean yet still matted dog in to be shaved. My issue is that if the vet deemed it necessary for him to be shaved then fine. Let me know so I can take him somewhere and get everything done in one shot. I called them 3 times to see when my dog would be done and I got 3 different stories each time. The first being that he was already bathed and under the dryer. The second was that he had just finished with his bath and they needed to hand dry him. The third time they told me his nails were clipped and bath was done but he was still wet. I complained about the fact that they didn't call me before they did the bath and that I'm now going to have to pay more money to a groomer because they all need to bath him AFTER shaving him. I asked if there was anything they could do to bring the price down but I was placed on hold and then talked to the other receptionist who told me that she DID call me before the bath to let me know but I gave the go ahead. Not true. I asked again when my dog would be ready and she said they're drying him and then they'll clip his nails. Wait, what? I've been told his nails are already done?!? I told them I was on my way to pick him up. I still had to pay almost $40 for a bath that I'm not convinced even happened. We have taken our dogs there for vet check ups before and I've always left feeling like they didn't get the proper care they deserved. I'll be using a different vet from now on. Read Less

Let me start by saying I can't speak to the quality of doctors. I haven't actually used their services. In fact I DON'T own a pet. Which is where my problem starts. Long story short, I noticed a collections on my credit report from Danville vet. I called regarding the issue considering I've stepped foot in this place and like I said, don't even own a pet. I live in a 900sq. ft. apartment that doesn't even allow pets. The receptionist was friendly at first when I asked when I apparently came in and for what services. When I started to explain I don't own a pet and this was not me and I needed the bill erased she begin to be really rude. I asked how to get it taken care of and she kept saying "you pay it!". I asked if they check id for the person they are billing or if anyone can walk in and use any name and address and they will just send that person a bill. She very rudely snapped "no, we don't id our clients!!" I then went on to say I don't have the animal you are saying I brought it and pet registered to me and I needed it removed. She replied that I need to speak to the head of the office. I asked to be transfer and she told me she would but she wasn't in and I could leave a message. So I left a message. Three days later, no response. So I called again, spoke to a rude gal and was again transferred to the head of office and left a message. This happens four separate times. Four messages for the "head of the office" (I'm convinced she doesn't exist), and no response any of those four times. I even emailed them! No response. I finally had to contact the better business bureau. Who contacted them and they also never received a response from them!!! How incredibly unprofessional! I eventually disputed it and got it removed from my credit. I'd just caution people that they are unprofessional and rude! Check your bills and beware!!!! Read Less

We have been going here for the past 10 years, originally we liked this hospital for the convince of being open 7 days a week. They treated our old family dog for a heart condition for many years with no problems. This is the only reason they deserve 2 stars. We brought my 11 month old puppy here after a horrifying accident and injured herself. Dr Wong did X-rays and found that she had dislocated her hip. They offered us a pet insurance plan for $225 to help with the costs. She explained the complications after the procedure, how's it's possible it could pop back out, so a sling would be necessary until she heals. We said go for it, this cost us $1,068 WITH the insurance. Later that day after the procedure we got a call, she not only had a dislocation but now she has a fracture. She explained a surgery to remove the ball of her femur would be necessary. The whopping bill will now be $3,100 on top of the $1,068. My heart sunk, my puppy will never be the same. We took her home and waited to hear back from the surgeon. I noticed she didn't have a sling on and was still in ALOT of pain. I had my doubts about Dr Wong, I got the feeling she didn't know what she was doing. We got a second opinion from a different hospital that same day. The new vet took her own X-rays and found that her hip was dislocated again. Probably from the failure of Dr. Wong sending her home without a sling. She also found there was NO fracture but her ligaments were so messed up now that she bones will never stay in place. It's also possible that there's something blocking her femur from staying in place, so the surgery is still necessary. We received no apologies, no refunds, nothing from this hospital. Her quote for the surgery was more then double WITH her insurance then what we paid at a different vet. Because Dr Wong failed to send my puppy home with a sling, she's now in more pain then she was in before, and I'm out $1,000. Thanks. Read Less

Most of what we do is basic spay/neuter and vaccinations, but occasionally we bring in older, abandoned cats with critical health issues This is where Danville Veterinary excels! They always make follow up calls to see how our kitties are doing after treatment. Marie and the rest of the support staff are kind and helpful. And I never feel rushed. I have been a customer of Danville Veterinary Hospital since 2000. After getting my first dog I was referred to Danville Vet. When Charlotte, a PWD, got Addisons it was Dr. Briggs pictured on the website that diagnosed her. He saved her life and they treated her for the remainder of her life. Sadly in 2008 we were on vacation and we boarded Charlotte at the vet. Dr. Briggs called us and she was ill, looked like a tumor, she was bleeding internally. Before we could come home, or making any decision, she died. They had her out of the kennel and she passed with the staff she knew all around her. I am starting to tear up writing this as I am still so moved by their kindness. Then we got Finn in 2011. He is a PWD and boards there when we travel. He loves Dr Haxby and Dr Wong. When we drive to the vet he gets all excited. In the parking lot he runs from the car to the door. If someone opens it he just turns right and goes in the back. It is hysterical. We should videotape it. And if that isn't a testimonial for their outstanding service, I don't know what is. Marie is always helpful and patient in scheduling appointments or boarding. Dena is a doll. Such fabulous interpersonal skills. I can talk to her all day. And I have found their pet insurance to be a great deal in caring for both Charlotte and Finn's health. We loved Dr. Wong. She seems to be a kind and truly caring vet. We were, however, completely shocked at the bill we received on our first (and last) visit. We ended up paying almost $400 for the visit, a blood draw and anti-biotic shot. The actual office visit itself only cost $59. Compared to other vets we saw at $51 that wasn't the bad part. The really unethical thing was that they tack on tons of extra fees and charges that I've never seen at any other vet hospital: $22 just to draw the blood? $77 for one anti-biotic shot? $17 for "Nurse assistance"? All the nurse did was turn on the scale while I put my cat on it. Other vets charge $160 for a blood test. Danville charges $204. To make things worse, the front desk people were not terribly nice and made no attempt to explain the bizarre billing structure or even address our obvious shock. We were pretty much ignored.I understand it 's Danville and they can get away with charging people a lot but the excess fees are really out of line and clients should be warned in advance as this is not a typical practice at other hospitals. I hope Danville Vet reads this. After being a client for nearly 15 years, had to go elsewhere after getting tired of the run down appearance, smell and less than top notch care (I will pay a premium for top notch care). Sadly, all too often, the front staff seems like they were formerly working at a puppy mile - it's clearly a paycheck to some of them - pets are "animals", not cherished pets who are as close as family.   One talks so loudly that my cats cower/meow in fear/anxiety - something they never do anywhere else - even, as I've learned, at other veterinarians. The smell has gotten progressively worse - don't know what sort of cleaning they do/cleaning agents they use, but the smell is sometimes overpowering when you walk in - not a clean antiseptic hospital smell, but a nasty-lurking-being-covered-up smell.  And if I can't stand the smell, imagine how overpowering it is for cats/dogs.  Honestly, I can't believe how strong the smell is some times - like they've doused the place with some ammonia-based antiseptic. The Vets are mostly good/caring - one guy was a quack - missed late stage cancer in one of our cats (so late stage the cat died within 2 months). They are mostly geared up for dogs - there's no differentiation in the waiting room, so my cats were always on edge whenever a dog was around (which compounds their normal anxiety from being away from the environment that they are used to).  Their waiting room chairs are in disrepair and should have been replaced years ago.  With not so much imagination/cost they could revamp the waiting room. But I don't think anyone even cares. While none of the above are enough to make one leave (although the smell always made me wonder), when combined, it was time to make a change for my mid 5 figure Vet bill (Sage in Dublin for emergencies/Civic Feline Clinic in WC for everyday).  My cats only wish I did it years ago.Danville Vet has lost it's way and needs a "Veterinarian Impossible" type revamp to give them a long overdue wake up call.  But since there isn't such a program, the place will likely slide further into disrepair/mediocrity. Had an emergency on a Sunday with my indoor/outdoor cat this weekend. One side of his mouth was swollen and he expressed pain when that side of his face was pet. Discovered Danville Vet. Hospital was open 7 days and they had an opening within 2 hours. Bingo. Got in to see the Vet. She determined foreign material was embedded in his gum. He was anxious and resistant about letting anyone merely pluck it out of his face, so they had to knock him out to get to it. We were there for a total of 1.5 hours, in and out. Reasonable price, considering for us it was an emergency and with such prompt, friendly, and communicative service. As a volunteer at the Lindsay Wildlife Hospital, I know the materials and labor involved are not cheap! No meds or cone necessary. He was pretty loopy when we got home, which for the humans was entertaining since he refused to lie down and rest.Got a followup call today, to make sure everything was on the right track. My little guy is SO HAPPY and THANKFUL that he's pain free and gets to be a carefree booger again. His swelling is gone and he never lost his appetite, which is what I was worried about most (that and infection, not knowing the cause of the swelling). From Roman and myself - thank you very much! We've going here the last fifteen years we've lived in the area and with the multiple critters it's been so convenient. One of the best features in their "own" pet insurance they share with two of their sister offices in the area. It's saved us many a dollar, with a few surgeries and ailments our pets have endured. Unfortunately at the moment we are frequenting the office a lot, as our 6 year old lab has come down with Cancer. But they've been great through his amputation and now starting Chemo. And the insurance is help offsetting some of the cost, as it did two years ago when one of our other labs tore her ACL and required surgery. We've seen all the Vet's in this office and they've all been wonderful. Right now Dr. Haxby is caring for our sick boy, and has fielded all our calls with multiple questions on care and support. The only one thing that was hard for us is that our lab needed to stay overnight after having his amputation, and they don't actually have overnight care. Though Dr. Haxby did come in after her dinner on a Friday evening to spend some time with him (which I truly appreciate). Just made it hard knowing he was all alone that first night even though I'm sure he was pretty doped up on pain meds. Right now having multiple dogs (and birds who one needed emergency care and I took to their WC office who specializes in parrots) this has been great in all our care. And the extra once a year insurance has ended up being worth it's weight in gold. Read Less

Read Less
