I came here twice, first time was to check a cat’s microchip, who we found in a parking lot and followed us home. They were really friendly and helpful! We eventually found the cat’s owner and brought him back to his owner. Second time was for my cat, I took her in for an examination, which is $65 here. I had an appointment at 10am, arrived 15 minutes earlier to fill out paperwork, but had to wait another 20 minutes. However, the workers there are all really nice and Dr. Casey Shoup was really patient and sweet. She sat on the ground with my cat in the room while checking her heartbeats. My cat was diagnosed with heart murmur grade three... gotta have to come back for an Ultrasound test:( Read Less

I was met with quick action by the staff here when I burst in unannounced with an elderly dog who started having seizures while we were en route from Sacramento area to the Bay Area. We found these guys on google maps simply based on proximity to where we were, but couldn't have asked for a better place to take care of my old girl. They were quick to take her and get her sedated and calmed down and were helpful with providing me supplies to clean myself up having been bit when she was having seizures. They got her in good shape and we were able to continue on home where we can see her regular vet. They even called me on Monday to follow up on how Cassie was doing. I've been taking my cat here for at least a year or so. I started while I lived in Davis, continued after I moved to Elk Grove, and will still keep going while I live in Fair Oaks because they are worth the drive. The staff are very friendly and professional. My cat has gotten two upper respiratory infections in the past year and they did their best to provide my with the best treatment options while making sure that I'm not breaking the bank. For the second infection, which was really bad, they discussed all my options and about how much they would cost me. When the azithromycin didn't work, the doctor did some labs to try and figure out what was causing it so we didn't just pump my cat full of meds she may not have needed. They were very nice and even gave me a discount on my second office visit for this infection. While we were never able to determine what was causing the infection because all the tests came back negative, the doxycycline that we ended up deciding on cleared my cat right up so we didn't have to do the expensive nasal scope exam or X-rays. They even called to check up on my cat to make sure she was doing better. Between their great prices (and their desire to make sure we didn't do any extra testing or procedures if we didn't need to), great hours (open til 8pm), and great staff, this is an excellent choice for a veterinarian. I cannot say enough about Dr. Yackey and the other wonderful vets and vet techs here. We've been coming to South Davis Vet for about 7 years now and I wish we would have found it sooner. They are fantastic at breaking down all your treatment options, educating you in a non-guilting way, understanding your stressors and budget and working with you to keep your pet in the best of health. Dr. Yackey performed a house call when it was time to say goodbye to our beloved pooch. He and his tech were incredibly sensitive and professional. They made the process as easy as possible for us and even sent a card about a week after. Everyone who works there obviously adores animals. Their bedside manner should be taught to human doctors! I started going here because the other vet I went to had such limited availability for appointments. South Davis is open more and seems to be staffed better? I can get same day appointments a lot, which is amazing. Then I basically transitioned to going only to south davis vet because they're pretty awesome. Friendly, better follow up, I feel like they are more thorough with options and diagnoses, etc. Their nail trims are even cheaper by a few bucks than the other place, as long as your pet isn't hard to handle. My first vet visit with my first cat! (thankfully just for a check-up) It was super easy to schedule an appointment over the phone. Also, as a student, I was thrilled to learn they are open on Saturdays.The clinic was easy to find and there was plenty of parking close to the entrance. The waiting area was nice and open, perfect for both the furbabes and their humans. Vet tech Josh assisted with getting my cat into the exam room and was gentle with getting his vitals. My cat got on real well with Dr. Cassy! The examination was a breeze including a shot to keep him up to date on his vaccines. Dr. Cassy answered any questions that I thought up during the check-up, and I was assured that I was doing alright as a first time cat mom. There wasn't any upsell on unnecessary tests or products, and the bill at the end was quite reasonable.The front desk staff also helped me with getting his microchip number along with the instructions on how to update the information. Overall, my cat and I had a positive experience with this vet clinic. Now my cat has his vaccination up to date and a clean bill of health, so back to couch cuddles and playtime for this one. Wonderful staff from my initial phone calls to schedule my dog, to the visit itself, to the follow up.  Everyone seemed on the same team, supporting each other, and taking care of the many issues being addressed.  I appreciated the way I was always kept informed.The staff was sweet, always on the ball, and doing their best.  They obviously care, and it could be felt in their interactions with me and especially with my often timid dog.  They worked with her on the floor, all three of them!  Having her comfortable greatly facilitated them seeing the different issues to address as all her "at home" trouble signs could show themselves (instead of her just crouching against me on a table where she knows she doesn't belong.)Thank you SDVC. I spoke to a very nice receptionist on the phone who scheduled me promptly. However, I was called today a few hours before my appointment because one of the veterinarians on staff was sick and they wanted me to reschedule. I explained that I could not and would be fine with waiting if that were the case. I came at my appointed time and they were able to get me in right away! Dr. Collins was extremely knowledgeable and helpful even though my dog is a dermatological medical basket case. The technician was also very kind and fast. They gave me an estimate for services and prices were pretty high (my only complaint...anal gland expression for $33) but otherwise, everything was terrific. I have been taking my Shiba Inu here since 2007. All of the vets here are amazing and I trust their treatment recommendations. They take time with me and my furbaby and always answer all my questions. They follow up by phone and/or email, which I truly appreciate. I also like the option of having an online account so I can view my pet's history and when she is due for meds and vaccinations. They will also take your pet's age, health and routine into account when recommending vaccines etc. I started out coming here because I live in South Davis, but I love these guys so much I will bring my pets here no matter where in Davis I am living! I just moved into the area.  My dog needed an emergency appointment and since I didn't have a vet yet I asked my neighbor which vet they recommended.  I'm so glad I went here.  From the moment they answered the phone I felt like my pup would be in good hands.  They scheduled an appointment that day and they had a simple form to fill out.  The staff and vet, Dr. Collins, were friendly and they truly love animals.  (My pup loves them too).  Not many vets take the time to sit on the floor to play with animals before examining them, but it helped to get my pup to relax.  The things I really appreciated:  We were greeted when we entered, we didn't have to wait long, they have long hours, they are fast and efficient, the rooms were clean, they printed and explained the invoice before proceeding so there weren't any financial surprises, they went above and beyond when taking care of our emergency and they kept me in the loop.  I have 2 dogs and 2 kittens and I will be bringing all of them to this place in the future.  Thank you!!! All the doctors I've seen there have been great. Most recently I saw Dr. Bradley who I would recommend. South Davis makes my dogs feel as comfortable as possible, so that the last time we went my dog was actually excited to see the clinic! They have convenient hours and on my last visit I was able to call for a same day appointment. I ended up buying heartworm prevention online because the price was a little better, but their exam prices are fair for Davis and you get great service. Read Less

I brought my cat here for the first time last week as she had developed hair loss and irritating scabs around her head. Everyone that I met there from the receptionist to the vet was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The vet was quickly able to diagnose my cat, give an antibiotic shot (Convenia), and prescribed some at-home medicine. I have a check up in two weeks, but in just four days my cat's scabs have reduced visibly, she is no longer scratching (and is now cone-of-shame free to her delight), and is clearly feeling much better :) Read Less

We love this Vet center in Davis! Our 2 year old beagle Juno, first came to this locations when she was just 8 weeks old and a little 5pound bundle of energy. As first time pet owners my husband and I had many questions! Everyone from the person greeting us when we entered to all of the vets Drs. Yackey, Bradley, Collins have been wonderful and awesome at addressing all of our questions! In the last two years we have gone in a few times for minor issues (except for that one time our must eat everything Juno ate a safety pin and we had to rush her in for xrays!). Even during that crisis they were incredibly nice and helpful. They have always been clear about the cost of all their services and check with you before they give you each service. The office has also always called to remind us about any upcoming things Juno needs for her health, from trifexus refills to her spaying to asking about how she is doing after a visit. We couldn't be happier with our vet and appreciate all this center has done to help us keep Juno a happy and healthy pup! Read Less

So the cat from hell...that would be Buddy, had to have a physical today along with a required shot.  His last physical was so long ago I can't remember.  We love him so but as a 10 year old rescue cat, he has his baggage (and I'm not just talkin his stomach:-)).  He hates anyone who tries to touch him.  But, Dr. Yackey was patient and Buddy survived his exam.  Unfortunately I don't know if Dr. Yackey did!.  Great, friendly staff. Our beloved boxer Trey has had his issues over the years. And to no surprise, the poor guy ended up with some pretty serious ear issues recently. A good friend recommended Dr. Collins at South Davis Veterinary Center and although we live in Rancho Murieta, we felt it was worth the drive to make sure our pup got the care he needed. And the drive was WELL WORTH IT. We've been to numerous vets in the past, but the service we received from Dr. Collins was unparralelled. His attention to detail and knowledge helped ease our concerns and gave us comfort that Trey was in good hands.
