All Creatures Hospital is a full-service Veterinary Hospital offering exceptional veterinary care and services that exceed community standards as well as client expectations. Located 20 minutes north of San Diego in Del Mar, Dr. Michael Mulvany and the hospital staff have been providing unparalleled personalized and high quality veterinary health care for cats, dogs and other small companion animals since 1983.
Dr. Michael Mulvany and the other highly trained and experienced doctors work with skilled, compassionate Registered Veterinary Technicians; Veterinary Assistants; and Client Service Representatives who care for the patients as conscientiously as their own. Our Vet Hospital provides services for north San Diego county patients that include: wellness programs and vaccinations for puppies, kittens and adult pets; special programs for senior pets; routine and advanced surgeries; intensive care for critically ill and injured patients; 24 hour patient monitoring; dental care; acupuncture; medical boarding; veterinary prescription diets; and a fully stocked pharmacy.
Advanced medical equipment in use at our Vet Clinic allow the doctors and staff to quickly and accurately assess the patient’s health status and allow the medical team to rapidly make medical care and treatment decisions. Most important of the medical equipment are the: digital X-ray machine; lab analyzers for blood, urine and other samples; patient vital signs and blood pressure monitors for continuous patient monitoring; ultrasound; digital infusion pumps; and much more.
Our goal is to offer sensible, straight forward, individualized patient care that is understandable and affordable for the pet’s owner. We care for each patient as we care for our own pets. Offering compassionate and consistent patient care in a welcoming, friendly environment allows our Pet Hospital to be ranked as one of the premier veterinary hospitals in San Diego County.
Hospital Hours: The hospital is open and veterinarians are on the premise every day of the year from 6:00am to 8:00pm – including weekends and holidays. Veterinary Technicians are staffed overnight to care for hospitalized patients and answer phone calls from concerned clients.
Directions: Take the I-5 to the Via de la Valle (Del Mar) exit. Then go east 1 ½ miles to El Camino Real and turn right. The hospital entrance is located at the first right.

Cannot say enough good things about All Creatures. We were referred to Dr Jenna by a friend when we moved from VA to CA. Even though they’re 20 miles away- they’re 100% worth the drive. Our senior partner, Jack the Beagle, is loved on and cared for by everyone at AC.
We had to board Jack for 2 weeks and I swear, he came out in better condition than when we went in.
Follow up is amazing. Attention to detail A+. Knowledge and experience can’t be beat.

I have counted on All Creatures Hospital since 2001. They have always listened to my concerns and issues with my dogs. The doctors are so helpful and happy to see my girls. They understand that my pets are like my children. I have full confidence in their ability to care for my girls and they will also inform me when the treatment needed is beyond the capacity and we are referred to a specialty hospital for extreme medical problem. I have never considered taking my girls to any other veterinarian.

I’ve been going to All Creatures Hospital for more years than I care to remember. Why, you ask? The obvious, convenient location, good hours, great staff They are professional and compassion towards their patients. They care to do the very best they humanly can to fix your pets problem long with follow up care. There have been times when the veterinarian and I have cried together over the lost of one of my family’s pet members. All Creatures Hospital has been very good to my pets over the years.
There has been a few times that I needed help asap and they have been there for me. I gets my prescriptions filled very quickly and I get appointments in a timely manner as well.
The vets are very nice and know just how to handle my pets.
I have had not issues at all.
I just had my 14 years old dog in for a dental and they were
very careful with her and assured me that they would monitor her
heart closely. She did very well.

As always we had a great experience. Two of our pets were able to be seen urgently, same day, at the same time. Both pets were handled kindly and with expertise. We are thankful to have found a vet who is always at ease treating our 130 pound German Shepherd, which is hard to find.

I must say I was a little reluctant to go here because some of the negative reviews, which there weren't too many. I decided to give them a try and I am very happy I did, everyone was great, including the front desk girl. We had Dr. Picht and she was awesome with my cats, she explained everything and didn't rush us at all. The office and the exam rooms were very clean, there wasn't a smell of dog urine like other places I've been to. It smelled very clean, maybe a little too much of bleach but I'd rather smell that then urine.I don't know too much about the pricing because I got in on the Tuesday special for both of my cats, so we all left there very happy! You won't go wrong by choosing this place for your pets.

I wouldn't recommend using this establishment for your animal's care. After the veterinarian made a huge deal about the potential liver toxicity of a medication she was prescribing for my newly adopted kitten, she then proceeded to call in the wrong dose of this medication. She wrote for DOUBLE the dose that should have been given. My husband and I are both physicians so luckily we caught her error. When I brought it to her attention, she started blaming it on the tech who called in the medication rather than just apologizing. If the medication had been given at the dose she'd inadvertently prescribed for the 3 week course - the kitten would have almost certainly had liver failure and died. Appalling.

What a disappointing experience. Have been a dog owner again for the past 9 months and have been happy at All Creatures for several different visits including fixing our beautiful little girl. Sadly, that all changed today.My puppy has Giardia which is evidently an easy fix so they prescribed her 5 days worth of powdered meds. The price of $135 +/- seemed very high so I double checked. They insisted that was the regular price. I decided to call Helen Woodward where we board our beautiful girl when away and they quoted me $40 for the same meds. I then double checked and called a friend who owns the Animal Hospital in Sorrento Valley and they gave me an amount just a bit higher than that at HW.I shared my findings with several people up front at All Creatures and their answer was basically... sorry too bad. They then offered me a prescription so I could to go HW and fill it for $100 less or so. I had hoped they would realize how much they were overcharging and would reduce to a more comparable level but that never happened so I accepted their offer and waited 10 minutes or so for them to write the prescription. Then after 10 minutes and still no prescription in hand, they decided to "threaten me" with the news that HW wouldn't likely accept the prescription anyways without their own evaluation so good luck and tough luck.Needless to say we won't be back at All Creatures.. too bad...nice facility and the people were previously always nice and kind to both my puppy and me and and my girls. Just can't accept a 300% markup and then especially worse the hostile attitude about it when they realized I really was taking the prescription elsewhere. Shame to have a relationship end that way but I guess they probably realized how poorly they had handled the situation.

We have 2 dogs and a cat. All 3 make regular vet visits for check ups, shot, and all sorts of other random issues. (If you've had a rambunctious puppy or two, you understand.) I have never ever had a problem making an appointment and for that I'm very grateful. I love the extended hours and the many doctors and techs who are available. Every doctors and vet tech that we've interacted with has been patient and understanding even with our anxious, timid rescue dog and that always wins bonus points in my book. We've has many shots given, giardia cases treated, a few cuts stitched, teeth cleaned, skin irritations checked... and had good experiences every time.

Haven't regretted it since!Everyone here at All Creatures Hospital is incredibly friendly and professional. It's pretty obvious that they love animals and what they do everyday! The wonderful part about this place is that it's open 7 days a week, even on holidays. Awesome!The only reason why I gave this place 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5 is because they can be a little disorganized sometimes. Because my fiance and I both work FT, the usual times we'd be available would be in the evening. We changed the schedule just ONCE (showed up on a holiday and resumed 1-2 weeks later for the next round of shots) and someone hadn't logged which shots Mocha had gotten on her last trip. :( It was a scramble trying to figure out what she had gotten. In addition to that, they couldn't even find us in the database when we showed up that time, even though we had been there 1-2 times before that?Aside from all of that, they truly do care about your pets. Everything is clean, they offer your pet lots of cuddles and affection, and even have jars where you can get your pet some treats to make them feel more at home! I can always trust that Mocha will be in great hands!

I brought my cat to this hospital for issues with constipation. The vet seemed caring and competent. She suggested a lab panel, which I agreed to be done. After reviewing x-rays and blood tests with me (including a two sets, because their lab machine had failed with the first set), the vet told me that there was an additional kidney blood test that would helpful. This test would be run at an outside lab, if there was no extra charge. She clearly told me several times that there was enough blood left over to do this test.The next morning, I receive a voicemail telling me to bring my cat in for a second blood draw for this additonal test. When I called back, the person on the phone was rude and condescending (I am a physician and would not tolerate this behavior from my staff). She told me that all of my cat's blood had been used up, since the lab panel had to be run twice due to malfunction of the machine. THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE VETERINARIAN. When I asked to speak to the covering vet, I was told I could not do so, and the cat would have to be brought back in.I believe that if what is discussed between client and vet is changed to something completely different, that the vet should inform the client of this change. I also hesitate coming back to this hospital, as the staff person on the phone seemed to care less that my cat would have to undergo a second traumatic blood draw. Caring for sick animals should include kindness as well as good medicine.

Cannot say enough good things about All Creatures. We were referred to Dr Jenna by a friend when we moved from VA to CA. Even though they’re 20 miles away- they’re 100% worth the drive. Our senior partner, Jack the Beagle, is loved on and cared for by everyone at AC.
We had to board Jack for 2 weeks and I swear, he came out in better condition than when we went in.
Follow up is amazing. Attention to detail A+. Knowledge and experience can’t be beat.

The staff is very professional and excellent with my furry son. We were able to book easily and got in the same day needed. Nice, clean facility. The only negative is the high price for medication.

I have counted on All Creatures Hospital since 2001. They have always listened to my concerns and issues with my dogs. The doctors are so helpful and happy to see my girls. They understand that my pets are like my children. I have full confidence in their ability to care for my girls and they will also inform me when the treatment needed is beyond the capacity and we are referred to a specialty hospital for extreme medical problem. I have never considered taking my girls to any other veterinarian.

All Creatures Hospital has been our veterinarian for 30+ years. They have always taken such great care of our dogs. We currently have two laboradors who tend to get into things :) They always answer when we call right away. The staff is on time and very knowledgeable. We are so lucky to have them as our local vet. We can't thank them enough for all that they do!

I’ve been going to All Creatures Hospital for more years than I care to remember. Why, you ask? The obvious, convenient location, good hours, great staff They are professional and compassion towards their patients. They care to do the very best they humanly can to fix your pets problem long with follow up care. There have been times when the veterinarian and I have cried together over the lost of one of my family’s pet members. All Creatures Hospital has been very good to my pets over the years.
There has been a few times that I needed help asap and they have been there for me. I gets my prescriptions filled very quickly and I get appointments in a timely manner as well.
The vets are very nice and know just how to handle my pets.
I have had not issues at all.
I just had my 14 years old dog in for a dental and they were
very careful with her and assured me that they would monitor her
heart closely. She did very well.

As always we had a great experience. Two of our pets were able to be seen urgently, same day, at the same time. Both pets were handled kindly and with expertise. We are thankful to have found a vet who is always at ease treating our 130 pound German Shepherd, which is hard to find.

I must say I was a little reluctant to go here because some of the negative reviews, which there weren't too many. I decided to give them a try and I am very happy I did, everyone was great, including the front desk girl. We had Dr. Picht and she was awesome with my cats, she explained everything and didn't rush us at all. The office and the exam rooms were very clean, there wasn't a smell of dog urine like other places I've been to. It smelled very clean, maybe a little too much of bleach but I'd rather smell that then urine.I don't know too much about the pricing because I got in on the Tuesday special for both of my cats, so we all left there very happy! You won't go wrong by choosing this place for your pets.

I wouldn't recommend using this establishment for your animal's care. After the veterinarian made a huge deal about the potential liver toxicity of a medication she was prescribing for my newly adopted kitten, she then proceeded to call in the wrong dose of this medication. She wrote for DOUBLE the dose that should have been given. My husband and I are both physicians so luckily we caught her error. When I brought it to her attention, she started blaming it on the tech who called in the medication rather than just apologizing. If the medication had been given at the dose she'd inadvertently prescribed for the 3 week course - the kitten would have almost certainly had liver failure and died. Appalling.

What a disappointing experience. Have been a dog owner again for the past 9 months and have been happy at All Creatures for several different visits including fixing our beautiful little girl. Sadly, that all changed today.My puppy has Giardia which is evidently an easy fix so they prescribed her 5 days worth of powdered meds. The price of $135 +/- seemed very high so I double checked. They insisted that was the regular price. I decided to call Helen Woodward where we board our beautiful girl when away and they quoted me $40 for the same meds. I then double checked and called a friend who owns the Animal Hospital in Sorrento Valley and they gave me an amount just a bit higher than that at HW.I shared my findings with several people up front at All Creatures and their answer was basically... sorry too bad. They then offered me a prescription so I could to go HW and fill it for $100 less or so. I had hoped they would realize how much they were overcharging and would reduce to a more comparable level but that never happened so I accepted their offer and waited 10 minutes or so for them to write the prescription. Then after 10 minutes and still no prescription in hand, they decided to "threaten me" with the news that HW wouldn't likely accept the prescription anyways without their own evaluation so good luck and tough luck.Needless to say we won't be back at All Creatures.. too bad...nice facility and the people were previously always nice and kind to both my puppy and me and and my girls. Just can't accept a 300% markup and then especially worse the hostile attitude about it when they realized I really was taking the prescription elsewhere. Shame to have a relationship end that way but I guess they probably realized how poorly they had handled the situation.

We have 2 dogs and a cat. All 3 make regular vet visits for check ups, shot, and all sorts of other random issues. (If you've had a rambunctious puppy or two, you understand.) I have never ever had a problem making an appointment and for that I'm very grateful. I love the extended hours and the many doctors and techs who are available. Every doctors and vet tech that we've interacted with has been patient and understanding even with our anxious, timid rescue dog and that always wins bonus points in my book. We've has many shots given, giardia cases treated, a few cuts stitched, teeth cleaned, skin irritations checked... and had good experiences every time.

We've been taking our family dog here for years. The quality of care is absolutely amazing--follow-up phone calls to make sure your pet is doing ok/feeling better. Seriously, the animals here receive better care than most humans. They have really great hours and plenty of parking. It's the absolute best veterinary care you could look for in all the San Diego area!

006 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE.My fiance and I adopted a miniature dachshund back in August and my friend (who owns a golden/Irish setter mix) recommended that we take her here. Haven't regretted it since!Everyone here at All Creatures Hospital is incredibly friendly and professional. It's pretty obvious that they love animals and what they do everyday! The wonderful part about this place is that it's open 7 days a week, even on holidays. Awesome!The only reason why I gave this place 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5 is because they can be a little disorganized sometimes. Because my fiance and I both work FT, the usual times we'd be available would be in the evening. We changed the schedule just ONCE (showed up on a holiday and resumed 1-2 weeks later for the next round of shots) and someone hadn't logged which shots Mocha had gotten on her last trip. :( It was a scramble trying to figure out what she had gotten. In addition to that, they couldn't even find us in the database when we showed up that time, even though we had been there 1-2 times before that?Aside from all of that, they truly do care about your pets. Everything is clean, they offer your pet lots of cuddles and affection, and even have jars where you can get your pet some treats to make them feel more at home! I can always trust that Mocha will be in great hands!

I brought my cat to this hospital for issues with constipation. The vet seemed caring and competent. She suggested a lab panel, which I agreed to be done. After reviewing x-rays and blood tests with me (including a two sets, because their lab machine had failed with the first set), the vet told me that there was an additional kidney blood test that would helpful. This test would be run at an outside lab, if there was no extra charge. She clearly told me several times that there was enough blood left over to do this test.The next morning, I receive a voicemail telling me to bring my cat in for a second blood draw for this additonal test. When I called back, the person on the phone was rude and condescending (I am a physician and would not tolerate this behavior from my staff). She told me that all of my cat's blood had been used up, since the lab panel had to be run twice due to malfunction of the machine. THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE VETERINARIAN. When I asked to speak to the covering vet, I was told I could not do so, and the cat would have to be brought back in.I believe that if what is discussed between client and vet is changed to something completely different, that the vet should inform the client of this change. I also hesitate coming back to this hospital, as the staff person on the phone seemed to care less that my cat would have to undergo a second traumatic blood draw. Caring for sick animals should include kindness as well as good medicine.
