Ironhorse Vetcare

Dublin, California
General Info
Ironhorse Vetcare, based in Dublin, transforms every pet visit into a sensory examination by altering its signals to those recognizable in Californian homes. An initial phase emerges, characterized by the predominant observation over tactile engagement. The staff observe pets as they explore corners and gently respond to sounds by adjusting their positions. The diagnostic flow is adjusted in real-time. A pet that stops breathing when the eyes are checked or has a similar response when their neck is touched prompts staff to rearrange the visit order. Owner input enhances every medical decision by knowing how they respond to the wind, their sleep space adjustments, and the frequency at home of initiating contact. Ironhorse Vetcare offers a range of services, including diagnostics, pain modeling, mobility screening, environmental allergy assessment, and preventive planning for the long-term stabilization of chronic conditions. Sessions for animals recovering from trauma and overstimulation are broken into multiple parts as needed with decompression breaks in between. Time-of‐day patterns, linked as they are to domestic settings, affect the manner and speed with which results are broadcast. Follow-up appointments are based on pets’ recovery and not set dates. The training program teaches pet owners to identify post-vet visit patterns such as room avoidance, decreased stretching behavior, and delayed vocal responses. And whenever routines need adjustment due to changes brought on by gradually emerging symptoms. Ironhorse Vetcare offers its services throughout Dublin and the surrounding regions of California. The team provides tailored services such as 24-Hour Emergency, Behavioral Counseling, Boarding, Cardiology, and Dental Care. Clients consistently commend the practice for its commitment to care and attentiveness to pets’ needs. From regular checkups to complex surgeries, the clinic guarantees that your pet will receive top-notch care in a serene and friendly setting. Advanced techniques like Deworming, Diagnostics, Emergency Care, Endoscopy, and Equine Care are implemented on-site for the convenience of pets.

Care was great. Brought 1 year old lab in with hind leg problem. After X-rays that we’re $700 was told she needed TPLO surgery at $6800 dollars. That price is outrageous!! Called around found it for as low as $3600!! After getting a second opinion from wonderful vet in Alamo was told no surgery needed but dog needed to stay in crate for 10 days for healing! They were so quick to want to give my dog surgery!! Always good to do research. Was told they do 22 TPLO surgeries a week!! How many dogs don’t need it! RIP OFF!! Read Less

We took my female Queensland in for a routine X-Ray to check out her pups. Come to find out she was pst her date and she would require some assistance to have them. We tried the injection at 4:30pm and that didn’t work. I brought a check in for the C Section to be performed, being told before i left the doctor would be called. I returned with the check for 1/2 the amount and they refused to do the surgery because the check amount was too high for my bank. 4 hours past, the nurse came in and said that they wouldn’t preform the surgery because the check had not gone through and that I needed to take my dog home and ‘hope’ by the morning she was not dead. They are more worried about money then their actual patients. We ended up lowering the check amount and it went through but in the process we lost a pup. They lied about calling the doctor, they lied about all the pups being alive. And they would rather have their money before worrying about the animal. I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS VET AGAIN NOR WILL I REFER ANYBODY!! Any other vet I called, said they would have rushed her in for surgery and worried about the payment later. Iron Horse clinic is not worth the money or the pain. Read Less

Urgent care visit on a Sunday morning.  My dog had a minor condition and I was interested in pain medication, and maybe diagnostics, to keep him comfortable until my primary vet opened on Monday.I called ahead to see if they were busy, I was informed that they were not at the time of the phone call, but that could change.  Very courteous greeting at the front desk.  Veterinary nurse was friendly to me and my dog taking a brief history before taking him to be examined.  Other patients came in after me with varying urgency.  Reception was very kind to keep me updated on how long I should expect to wait as things unfolded in the lobby. The veterinarian was very clear in her explanation of her findings and suggestions.  My dog seemed unfazed by his visit to "the back."  All went well.  Great visit, thanks! This was my first time to Iron Horse as my regular vet was closed for the day. Called in around 8 pm after my dog's symptoms were getting worse (turns out he had a bladder infection). They encouraged me to come in as the symptoms could indicate either an infection or a blockage (more serious). I arrived and they were ready for me. My pup was the only patient there and they saw us right away. My pup is sensitive/nervous especially at the vet, but they were really great with him. After an initial exam the vet met with me to discuss his findings/thoughts and recommended a course of action. He laid out the information in a way that was reassuring and without pressure, allowing me to make the decision I felt was best. He offered to do additional testing as a precaution (and said they would provide an cost estimate), but said that we could start with antibiotics and go from there if things didn't improve. We were on our way home after about 45 minutes and I felt the price was reasonable for the after hours/emergency nature of the visit.I worry about taking my dog to a new vet, especially in these types of situations, as it seems some vets capitalize on your worry and pressure you into a lot of tests/treatments that may/may not be necessary at that time. I did not feel that way at Iron Horse. I felt they were putting my dog's best interest first. They offered to see him again if needed, but also recognized that I have a regular vet and gave me everything I needed to follow up with them too. I hope I never have to go back (for after hours/emergency care), but if needed I wouldn't hesitate to use their clinic again. I would recommend this clinic to family and friends in similar situations. Read Less

I think their doctors really try to be as good as they can be there. I think the management is what sucks. it's clear this is a business and the priority is that they get paid. They make that very clear in their attitude, and the way they operate.  My biggest concern was trying to save my dog not the money. It made me nauceous how they behaved. They asked for a deposit to treat my dog. The doctors I worked with seemed nice but there is a vapidness in their eyes. Hard to explain. You would have to see it. Not very good or timely at communicating either. This lead me to believe that they were not very caring at all.  My dog was very sick.  She was released from their care with minor improvement.  She passed away about a week later. I keep wondering whether she received the proper treatment.  I blame the vet more. It all started with vet clipping her nails before Christmas. I still hear that scream and it haunts me.  The infection started there and then the decision to give her an injectable antibiotic caused her death...of that I am sure. It's a moment I'll never forget. I understand that every healthcare business needs to make a profit, but they really should try to improve their bedside manner.  Wouldnt go back there nor would I go back to the vet that I believe caused the entire issue. When we adopted our sweet Mollie Joe, we had no idea she was ill. However, we soon discovered that she was suffering and took her to several vets who provided temporary care. After one very sad, heartbreaking, and incredibly scary experience with Mollie, we were referred to VetCare and drove to her to Dublin - we live in Manteca. We knew immediately she was in the best care possible and with the loving care of Dr. Wimmer and the awesome staff at VetCare, Mollie was diagnosed with Steroid Responsive Meningitis-Arteritis (SRMA). Dr. Wimmer prescribed the proper medications to give our Mollie, who, almost immediately, became a frolicking Boxer puppy. That was almost a year ago and today, she is the queen of the house; daddy's little girl; little sister, (although sometimes annoying) to Dino and Sammy, both of whom she loves and adores. We could not be more pleased with the treatment that we received from VetCare.Read Less
