I am posting this to warn other consumers, I wasn't going to post at all as I hardly ever rate any business, but I received information from 2 other clients that had similar issues and I feel that the information should be available to those looking for it.
Synopsis:lots of wasted money and time, and absolutely never once offered to refund or offer other service for majorly incorrect information That could have ended my horses life.
I have an 8 yr old gelding that was having lameness issues. Since I had gotten the recommendation from a friend and had read on the website about Dr white being specifically interested in lameness I called and scheduled an appointment.
Dr white came out and examined my horse, suggesting initially rest and some bute as well as a series of ICHON injections. When that didn't work she suggested x-rays, when I received the call I was heart broken to hear my horse had wobbler syndrome and shold probably be put down. I immediately started searching for a way to help him and brought him to a specialist to get information about a basket surgery. When the specialist mentioned he didn't look neurologic, we repeated the x-rays to find he did not have wobbles. it was an incorrect diagnosis but mistakes happen so I just thanked god I didn't put a young horse down for nothing.
Next with the symptoms persisting I asked to check blood work for everything and he came back ever so slightly positive for EPM which was a 50/50 shot. I decided to treat for it, just in case. The office charged $1400 for 1 month of medicine vs the $800 to get it online, and they refused to cut price in any way. I decided that since the insurance plan. Would cover it, I'd rather support a local vet than an online retailer and purchased. During this time I was told to keep my horse corralled the whole time (over a month). This led to an absolutely psychotic horse. No follow up calls were made to see how treatment was going, I had to consistantly call them to make sure I was on the right path. That plan did not work.
Dr. white came back and did another set of x-rays and decided that he had arthritis and went on to suggest highly expensive alternative treatments, as well as acupuncture etc. I decided to wait and have the specialist verify first. I had 4 vets including a radiology specialist, and orthopedic specialist completely look him over. Including x rays and ultra sound. Not a single one agreed that he was arthritic (Again he's 8 with 6 months of riding time it would've been genetic but it's not)
over a course of 6 months the poor horse was put through a lot, probably the worst being held in a corral for long periods of time. Dr white at no point said,
"I am just not sure maybe we should consult someone else to help us find out what is going on"
Or simply "I don't know"
She never once offered to compensate for the completely incorrect x-rays which had to be redone or offer a different service that would've been easier like a teeth float or sheath cleaning to say, "hey I know I made a mistake and I'm sorry let me make this up to you"
So although the staff is incredibly nice, helpful, personable, and willing to be there in emergency cases, I do not believe this would be the right choice for anyone who has a horse with a lameness issue.
Again, I assumed I was just a really hard case but I have now heard 2 other people who had similar issues without me even discussing what happened in my case. I think it's pretty safe to say you'd be better served taking business elsewhere.
