I used LAVA for many years. I've seen doctor Martin go all the way to Ramona at 2 am just to check on a horse that he had seen earlier in the day. He didn't charge the people. He just cared enough to want to see that a very sick animal would make it through the night. All businesses have a few wackos they have to deal with from time to time. That explains the one bad review. I'm not an employee of LAVA. I'm a professional animal trainer. And I always without hesitation recommend Dr. Martin. If you want someone that sincerely cares about your animals health then he should be your first call. It really irritates me when nut jobs write bad reviews. Most foot abcesses are due to owners not doing daily maintainance to a horses foot. They sometimes also have to develop a little more to be diagnosed properly. I can tell from that negative post the guy was one of those pains in the butts that always tries to get a freebie on someone else's time. Now you know I'm not an employee. Because nobody working for that company would be so critical of that comment you made. It would make their business look bad. If you were that unhappy next time call a vet and make an appointment. Your horse would probably still be lame because your to cheap to spend the money and call the vet out in the first place. Sorry everyone but nobody should ever have to suffer a rant like that jerk posted. These guys really are great. Just like everyone else posted. Read Less

When you want the BEST for the health and welfare of your horses, this is the TEAM you want to have on your side. Dr. Martin has been my primary care veterinarian for over 20 years. My small herd of Under 30" miniature horses have enjoyed a good quality of life, through the care and guidance of Dr. Martin. He has always been there for me in good times and not so good times...Dr. Martin has been dedicated to providing my miniature horses with the quality preventive care and sometimes life saving medical attention they need, and for that I am truly grateful. I consider the LAVA TEAM part of my extended family, taking care of my cherished miniature horses that are so important to me. My sincere thanks to Dr. Rand for helping my save a calf born in August. We had to let the cows out onto the house portion of our property during the fires of 2007. Meaning the bull was loose with all cows including one I had tried to keep separate to prevent early breeding. Well, apparently- he got her- and one day unexpectly I came across a tiny calf that was not being acknowledged by her mom and kicked away every time tried to nurse. Not getting the cholostrum vital to boost calf's immune system during first hours of life her chance of surviving was slim to none at best. Dr. Rand examined her, gave her antibiotic shots and advice on how I would give daily shots for the next 3-5 days depending on my observation of how she looked and felt. Eew! Me give shots?! Okie Dokey... Extremely time consuming for me away from home to my husbands disgust. But for the $350, four addition shots I gave per her instructions, two weeks of bottle feeding, daily tie up for two weeks of mom to fence with back feet together to force nursing and any mom milk I could manage to manually squeeze out and get into the powdered calf milk bottle supplement saved her! Bottom Line- Dr. Rand is awesome and caring enough to share her knowledge and experience to help me make decisions needed to give the calf best survival chance. She is alive, nursing a bit off the mom and eating alfalfa on her own, very well and out with all our cows today. Thank You Dr. Rand!!! Debbie Hornsby Read Less
