Do not go here Dr schlegal is mean rude and condescending ,she talks to you like you don't know anything she mocks you and yells at you not to ask questions .and she doesn't call you back if you have a question she says if you have a question she will charge you a recheck fee just to ask a question this is what she's about she also doesn't answer emails ..I asked her why the exam was $78 for just 5 min exam she said that's my rule ,when I first made the first appt the receptionist lied and said all cheerful "the doctor will let you have as much time as you need " (big lie) and then when I asked if the doctor called you back if the client had questions she said "yes she does call back ) another lie !! There not honest people here ,Margret said something hilarious she said "the clients that leave reviews are having a bad day " ha well Margret I'm not having a bad day if you read this I'm having a good day because I'm finally telling the truth about you and Dr schlegal .she's awful .the receptonist answers the phone by not saying hello but "ah ha" ...is that anyway to greet a client ?they suck here and that guy who works the phone yelled at me one day when I missed his call he yelled "ma'am I can't keep calling you " his name was "suveo'" I tried complaint to the manager she's never around.funny how he yells and gets mad at me just cause I missed his call ONE time only when you call in you have to be tortured and listin to that horrendous 15 min greeting of there's with a million prompts to choose from it's a nightmare .they don't respond .when I emailed Dr S once telling her my cat 'might" have kidney stones she rushed emails out to me saying we need to come up with a plan " cause we all know kidney stone treatment is $$$$$ and Dr S saw money signs with me that's why she was responsive that one day .any other day she is not responsive at all esp if you have a question ,she said you seen unhappy you can go somewhere else " that's her quick fix to make her look good she has no clue how to fix a problem with a client .she rushed in and rushes out in a hurry without saying bye or nothing she treats the client like crap .never apologizing her thing is it's never her .she rather be dismissive like other reviewers say and blame the client if she doesn't call you.back Read Less

We took our 3 year old Dachshund puppy into Abbey Vet Hospital for a routine teeth cleaning and experienced a nightmare all owner's fear. With trust, Dr. Gretal R. Schlegel performed a routine dental cleaning and extractions where needed. Post procedure Ruby acquired an infection that quickly developed into Ocular Cellulitis…a painful, severe, and life threatening condition caused by an infection. Her condition was so severe it was equivalent to blunt force trauma to her eye and sadly it resulted in a damaged optic nerve. In the end, Ruby lost her vision in that eye. Not only did Dr. Gretal R. Schlegel perform this botched procedure, during the course of this dealing with Ruby’s infection, Dr. Gretal R. Schlegel was dismissive, disconnected to how severe Ruby’s condition and hand waved at us with some low dose antibiotics and painkillers.. which might as well be dog treats. It is with REGRET trusting Dr.Gretel R. Schlegel with our healthy puppy Ruby. Ruby’s pain and near death experience is unforgivable and it will take us a really long time to let this go. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this vet and clinic. Read Less

I am told this pt hospital is expensive, but I have nothing to compare it to. I am a client;Ewok,my cat is a patient there. Because I believe in care that is consistent, I have been a client;the people that raised him from kittenhood took Ewok to Abbey for care. Ewok is now 15. Last week, when he got sick, the staff at Abbey made time to see him even though I didn't have an appointment. I liked the veterinarian who examined Ewok. She was thorough and businesslike but was friendly and understanding. She is a substitute for the veterinarian who usually sees Ewok;the staff doctor is on vacation. I am told that she may be joining the staff as a permanent veterinarian. I hope so. Abbey offers the full range of veterinary srevices, but I am impressed at how willing the hospital staff is to accommodate me. Since I am disabled,I need help carrying the cat carrier, and I have sometimes needed information about animal care and products. The staff has always been helpful, accommodatining and affable. I came into this vet and had a few visits with Dr. Judd, who is very calm and attentive, definitely takes his job seriously. I like to be a little more proactive and personal with my dog and I like to talk more in depth about what I can do for her, and yes, I am willing to pay the vet exam fees to speak about that type of approach. For that reason, I chose to switch doctors to Dr. Hollenbach, and she is AMAZING! She seems to adore talking about animal health on a pretty advanced level. She is super honest about the severity of issues and very realistic about what the outcome of any approach you might take as an owner could turn into. I actually feel like I bonded with my ol' lady dog MORE because of working with Dr. Hollenbach and I am still grateful for her advice. My dog does NOT like vets, and she has always been okay going here. The ladies here recognize my dog when we come in and they drew hearts on her surgery release paper! She got a big surgery earlier this year and when she came out I was in tears and the ladies were so kind to her, very obviously gave her so much love and attention as she came to. She's a very needy dog, and also a pitbull, and they have always treated her this well. On that note, I just got a new dog, and I am looking forward to his first visit with them. I highly recommend them! In reply to another person who mentioned their $56 exam fee...their exam fee is so stinkin' cheap! I think it's a PLUS! Read Less

I absolutely love this place. Their staff is amazing and so are the veterinarians. They are very caring and gentle. I needed to get my dog into a vet due to his very unusual loss of appetite, after calling multiple vets, I was able to get a regular same day appointment at abbey. I was so happy I didn’t have to pay for emergency care and still got my dog seen same day. They took amazing care of him and made sure I understood everything that was going on, and what to expect in the future. I will not go anywhere else from now on. And they take care credit on top of everything else. Read Less

I had been bringing my animals here since 1997. I always thought it to be a good place with reasonable prices. However, I had two really bad experiences with Dr. Lee Prutton. One was a malpractice incident. If you go here choose another doctor!!! This first incident was when my docile golden retriever of seven years began to tear up the house. Dr. Prutton told me the dog had suddenly developed separation anxiety. He recommended prozac at $2.00 a day, & sleeping with the dog. When the dog began to pee blood, it was an obvious bladder infection. I was very angry with the Dr Prutton about this. The second time I took my cat in for routine shots. Dr. Prutten gave them but then began hard selling some other very expensive non routine vaccinations. He asked me how much I loved my cat. I felt it was very manipulative. Dr Virk, was good with my new dog, and Dr. Matthew Judd seems really sweet. Avoid the owner Dr. Prutton, he's not good with animals. He's more like a CEO. Read Less

The dog I inherited from my brother who decided to follow his girlfriend to London could only be classified as a "problem child" He is so cute you can't help but love him but, was causing all sorts of problems in my already stressful life. I took him to Abbey Pet for a behavior consultation. Dr. Prutton was great and recommended a group called Serious Dog Training. After eight weeks and a lot of patience I now have a dog I can bring to the dog park and have friends over without "PI" jumping and drooling all over them. The last time we saw the Doctor we were given shots and tick removal. I recommend this place. Read Less

Search Yelp for more accurate reviews of this establishment. Complete breakdown of communication on staff's part and complete deception on Dr. Prutton's part will prevent me from ever entrusting them to treat any animal I care for. Dr. Prutton is simply out to line his pockets with as much money as he can. From minimum wage employees who are clueless to padded bills that are not discussed with clients before hand. To add insult to injury, my cat was overly medicated to the point that he vomited 5 times and defecated on himself, up to 8 hours after his neutering. I watched him closely though the night, ready with water and food, in hopes he would ingest SOMETHING to dilute the anesthesia and UNAUTHORIZED vaccinations in his blood stream. When I brought these concerns to Dr. Prutton's attention, instead of listening, he lied to my face about what ""we"" agreed upon, smirked and gave a lecture on his financial bottom line. To quote ""It takes $2.00 a minute just for me to break even"". Well, Dr. Prutton, (who I am supposed to believe is financially hurting after ripping off his patients) perhaps you should care more about your clients than your bottom line and you wouldn't have to waste your time on lectures. Minus 5 stars if Yelp would allow, truly a nightmarish experience, I am shocked the BBB hasn't investigated this place. Read Less

We?ve owned many pets, over 30 years, and have been to dozens of Veterinary offices all over Northern California. This is BY FAR the worst veterinary office anywhere! We brought our sick cat in for a blood test. Knowing that it would be expensive we asked for a complete price quote beforehand. Once they got our cat in and drew his blood, however, they demanded a price nearly twice the quoted amount, to complete the test. The office staff became angry and rude when we politely objected. The doctor proceeded to snap at and argue with us, and with his own office staff. The office staff themselves were extremely impolite and unprofessional to both of us, especially Lacey who repeatedly verbally abused us both with a mocking, haranguing tone. There was not a moment?s concern, from the doctor or any staff, for our sick pet. Before bringing your pet here, do some research for yourself. Read reviews on other sites (e.g. Yelp)?you will find that they conflict with the apparently good reviews on this site, and a pattern emerges! We wish we?d done a little research, before coming here. The only thing that the doctors and office staff at this Veterinary office care about is money. They obviously care nothing about the animals, about the owners, or about conducting their business in a professional manner. We?re reporting them to the American Veterinary Medical Association and the State Board, and encourage everyone else who?s had similar experiences to do the same. This place should not be in business. PLEASE?IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT BRING THEM HERE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Read Less

We had everything taken care of within 20-30 minutes. They have all the in-house blood machines.

Read Less

I was so happy I didn’t have to pay for emergency care and still got my dog seen same day. Read Less

Read Less
