This is an EMERGENCY pet hospital. Expect the same service you receive at your emergency hospital. They will put the most urgent case in priority just like a human EMERGENCY hospital would. If your pet needs urgent care DO NOT hold back because of the reviews, your pet requires immediate attention. This is the medical field so do not expect a low price including that the doctors are working hard hours overnight waiting for you. You need to understand the system before you complain. I myself have aavery low income so I always reach out to my family for help because I understand how expensive it is. Overall after your pet is stabilized they take the time to talk to you about any further recommened treatment, the pricing and what they can do that will accommodate your final balance the most. I took my dog to her primary care vet because she was throwing up. They stressed the importance of having her there overnight for fluids because she was dehydrated. They left her unattended and she aspirated on her vomit. She was sedated and had a machine breathing for her. They didn't seems positive that she was going to make it. They also said that if she improved to their standards they would keep a staff overnight, if not we should consider euthanizing her. She was transferred to this facility, and within a day she breathing on her own with oxygen. The day after that she was able to be taken off oxygen and came home. If it wasn't for this office and the compassion they had for an animal's life, we would have had to put her down. They cleaned up another clinic mistake, and I am thankful for that. Read Less

Don't know why people gave this place a 1 star review. I came here on Sunday evening (02/06/18) at 9 pm and there was already a 30 minute wait to see a vet. My dog's paw was swelling up and I just needed to pinpoint the cause. The nurse who received us assisted us right away and because it seemed so minor he took my dog to see the vet right away to see if my dog needed antibiotics. Thankfully she didn't and it wasn't anything major. So the nurse was very helpful and we were in and out within 15 minutes. Read Less

I promised a great review because that is what this emergency pet clinic deserves! Luca got attacked by coyotes and we rushed her over after googling weekend and after hours hospitals.  She was severely bleeding as multiple coyotes seemed to have gotten to her, it was at night, we only heard her screaming.  The hospital was easy to find with a big, easy parking lot.  The receptionist was very kind and patient and took Luca right away to the back to try and stabilize her.  The doctor came out and was very kind and professional and we left her there overnight while he operated on her.  We picked her up in the morning and they gave us after care instructions and even tried to help discount the price as much as they could.  Bottom line, Luca lived.  Almost 14 years old and they didn't care, they made sure that she could live to tell the tale.  Wonderful hospital, wonderful people= happy families. Like most others this was the closest animal ER to us that carried anti-venom.  Our vet sent us here after our dog got bit by a rattler. I give the a four star due to the the staff not introducing themselves and understanding what their title or role is.   When we arrived, a pleasant receptionist took us to a room.   Within minutes a women came in(no introduction) in scrubs asked questions , charted the info and took our dog to receive pain meds.   After 20min the same woman came with what seemed like a laundry list of labs and services that would be needed.   I questioned the services as my dog was stable and she kept saying "when his blood pressure tanks".   Ok so I go into nurse mode.. hmm tanks?? He stable so did something change?  Are you the vet?  No I'm the tech.   So I ask to give me a few to consider this bill.    After thinking it through I tell the receptionist that the billing is of concern but I want to have him treated.   I think she understood my hesitation and asked for the vet to speak with us.   In speaking to the vet, she had the REAL answers.  He needed fluids.   Ok I got it!    I was still skeptical of services and the tech so I only paid and approved the minimum services and all else would need a call if a change in his condition.  Thankfully morning came no calls and when we picked him up to our surprise we were refunded $100!!!       The place is clean and did a great job in caring for our baby!!  Hopefully we won't have a future need but if so, we wouldn't hesitate returning. My recommendation is speak to the doctor directly and have them help you understand what can be limited as these services are not cheap and our animals need them. Read Less

I've lived down the street from this place for the longest but up until a couple of days ago had to come here for my dog who was acting abnormal. Upon arriving the staff was very attentive. They had us fill out some paper work and minutes later when a room was available we waited a couple of more minutes for a nurse. They asked more questions about my dog and why he was there and how he'd been feeling and a couple of minutes later the vet came in to check on him. They recommend X-rays and blood work which we did and then discussed with us what was most likely the cause of his discomfort. They gave us meds for him and sent us on our way and since then he does seem to be doing better. Overall friendly, helpful but a tad expensive. Then again it is emergency so I'm glad their services are available Read Less

i was very disappointed with this clinic.  my dog got bit by a coyote and was recommended by the santa anita vca in monrovia.  i took my dog in and wait for a long time.  finally a vet assistant came to take my dog for assessment and came back with a hefty bill $1116.  left her there for the night because she needed surgery, i picked her up this morning and the receptionist basically gave the forms and told me to check in with the santa anita vca.  I didn't see the vet, she didn't explain what they did to my dog.  Long story short, i took her back to the vca and the vet there has to re-open her to put in the drainage. The vca vet (Dr. Shaw) was kind enough to explain why the drainage was needed and perform the procedure free of charge.  What emergency clinic is this? How can you call yourself a vet?!!!!  i should of read the reviews before i take my coco here.  now i know. Read Less

My friend's dog was having a seizure and foaming at the mouth on March 19th, a Sunday morning. The dog, who has since passed on, had severe kidney disease (something we knew beforehand). We rushed to the pet hospital and were instantly greeted by the staff who immediately began treatment. Everyone there is top class and professional from front-line staff to the vet who was on duty. Yes, it is very expensive, but think of it analogous to rushing a human to the ER - the most expensive place of all to get treatment. Tip: Be sure to try and ask all your questions (write them down) when you speak to the vet at whatever points you have contact with him/her because they get very busy and may not be able to answer until much later. Five stars for Dr. Seim, the receptionist and everyone on staff for their customer service and bedside manners! I had to dock off a star because the office never faxed over the results to our regular vet as they said they would. We came here, because during off hours our veterinary office recommends taking our pet to this emergency clinic, where our veterinarian is a share holder, I believe. Since the office is closed during the day, there is no way we can try to get a hold of that veterinary writeup report from our ER visit the night before. Thankfully we asked for copies for the X-rays and blood test so we had that, at least, to show our vet. It may be worth waiting the hour or two to get the vet's writeup report yourself - something I should have done in the first place. Read Less

I just wanted them to help save my dog. 15 minutes later the DR. then came out and shared my dog was in state of shock and was going to be placed under a breathing machine because she wasn't responding but that also she was going to share the machine with another dog and it was another $350. 20 minutes later they came out to share my dog was not going to make it. My dog was short of breath and was wheezing, which we assumed was that he choked on something (turned out to be complications with bloat, in which he could've died without proper treatment). After about 10 minutes of trying to dislodge whatever might've been stuck in his windpipe, he could no longer stand and his tongue had turned blue.Desperate, as our vet is closed on Sundays, I turned to Google and found this emergency clinic that was only about 10 minutes from our house. We took him in immediately and were helped by the very kind vet tech, Alice. She kept us updated on the situation with him the entire time, and was very thorough and patient. After our dog was okay and resting, Dr. Pirie explained to us what had happened and gave us recommendations and tips on our dog's rehabilitation and general care after.Fantastic staff - they are very warm, kind, and honest. I'm extremely glad they were there when my dog had this emergency. The price was fair for the procedures my dog had to have in order to save his life, and Alice had given us an approximate price estimate form before even proceeding with anything, so there were no surprises at the end of the visit. I was skeptical to bring my pup here but it was such a great emergency i had no choice, it was only 10 minutes away from home. Yes, it's expensive, owning a pet is expensive I really don't know what people expect lol. So my 3 mo old pup stuck her paw underneath the gate, which is extremely sharp. Her poor leg was sliced, blood everywhere and you could see the bone. We were taken in to a room immediately after filling out a few questions, the ladies were very nice. The only thing I didn't like is while anxiously waiting in the room, we could hear the employees in the back talking about facebook and other non-work related topics. When your puppy is gushing out blood in your arms the last thing you need to hear is nonsense and laughter while you anxiously wait for help. Other than that, the procedure took about an hour. These crooks took in my dog after she was vomiting for a couple days and diagnosed her with pancreatitis. We were charged 1400 dollars to run their tests and put my dog on an IV. All of that would have been fine if what they did actually helped my dog. We picked her up the next morning and they told us she'd be fine and not to worry. All we had to do was take her to her regular veterinarian and she would be ok. She seemed a little out of it when we picked her up, but they assured us she was ok. She barely managed to make it home and died not even 40 minutes after leaving the hospital. They still expect the payment in full even though they didn't help my dog. You don't hire a mechanic to fix your car and then pay full price when your brakes still creak and your oil is unchanged. Why should these people get paid for helping my dog if she still died right after leaving? She literally coughed up blood in my lap as soon as we got her home and they told us she was going to be ok. I'd like to emphasize as strongly as possible they said she had a very high chance of pulling through. Now we know that they only said that to get us to pay for all the tests and overnight service. Long story short is don't bring your pets here. Once they charge your card they don't care anymore. Read Less

Let me just start out by saying this place doesn't even deserve one star. I brought my dog in on a Sunday evening after she had become very weak and shaky. She was also throwing up and not wanting to drink water. They run all of the tests and diagnose her with pancreatitis. The veterinarian there tells us that we need to leave her there overnight to treat her and then pick her up in the morning to take her to her regular veterinarian to continue treatment. The veterinarian said, "She has a very high chance of making it out okay. I don't see her not being okay." These charges ended up coming out to more that $1000, which my family didn't mind paying because my dog was a member of our family and we would have done everything to help her. I picked up my dog and she died 40 minutes afterwards. I called the veterinarian and the person I spoke with said that this kind of thing happens all the time. She also didn't want to dispute the charges made to my card. My dog was 11 years old, had diabetes, and Cushing's disease. I understand if it was her time, but I would have appreciated it if the veterinarian would have told me, "I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do," instead of giving me and my family a false sense of hope and saying my dog will pull through just fine. She could have spent her last hours at home instead of a crooked veterinary clinic that only cares about milking all the money they can out of you. I highly urge all people who think about taking their pets here to stay away. They only care about the money they earn and they could care less about your beloved pets. Read Less

DONT GO HERE, IF YOU HAVE TO GO TO for an emergency, pick Pasadena Came in here because my dog got bitten by another dog. The Vet quoted me 1200 saying that my dog needed surgery and all these blood tests. I was kinda skeptical so I checked Yelp first. Sure enough multiple bad reviews for over charging and over exaggerating injuries. Took him to another vet the next day. All they had to do was clip and clean the cut for $115. Not only did this place try and charge me so much but Dr. George didn't seem trust worth already. Not once during the exam did he use gloves and he stuck unsterile scissors in my dogs neck to say that the cut was deep. That already shows me this place isn't trust worthy. Read Less

If you care about your pets life please please DO NOT take them there! They are horrible, they only get one star because thats the least they can get and i relly ant everyone to know how horribke their work ethic is. Last sunday I took my 11month old husky there. To begin they made us wait about four hours... My puppy was having bloddy discharges from her rectum, if that does say urgent I don't know what does. She had a Parvo test which came back begative, Xrays, and blood work, she was seen by the "Dr" who found nothing and discharged her. Brought her back home, she was feeling horrible and complaining and vomiting the whole night. At about 5am she finally seemed to calm down and go to sleep, but she wasn't. At 9am I tried feeding her, but she was literally lifeless! I picked her up and she couldn't even open her eyes her she was almost gone. I rushed her to vet at El Monte Dog and Cat Hospital who immediately put her on supportive care, on oxygen, and on an IV. At this point she seemed almost gone, the vet there did everything she could to stabilize her enough to transport her to a 24 hour hospital, she stayed at this hospital until about 4pm. However there was a high chance there she waoulnd make it anywhere in time to be treated I then took a chance for yhe best and transfered her again to IVVS in Upland, CA she was taken at critical condition placed on immediate supportive care and given a plasma transfusion, she also received a surgery to remove swelling from her chest. At the moment she is currently still hospitalized with a severe infection. However the moral of this is that if this place would have done its proper job of accordingly diagnosing my puppy; one she wouldn't be in the current state she is and two they could have saved me $6,500 in bills (for my baby there isn't a cent I would spend but this place has just worsens the situation). I hope someone finds this useful, live your fur babies, read up on places before you taken them.anywhere, and most of all never never give up on them. Read Less

Wow, this place left a total disgust in my mouth. We brought our dog here after he's on terminal care and suddenly slowed his breathing significantly and basically almost passed. Since it was on a Saturday, we had to find an emergency place to have the vet eval our dog for euthanasia and cremation. The entire time We were At this clinic, the lady focused on telling us about the $500 critical care deposit; without evaluating the dog, and ignored my statement that we just want comfort measure and NO intervention for our poor 15 year old Maltese! She wanted us to leave the dog there, charge $500 (or more) and wait for evaluation on a condition we already know!!! We just wanted comfort and dignity for our poor beloved pet at his last dying moments. Anyways, we left this place and found another place that was so loving and caring. And in addition, only charged us $180 for everything include private cremation, and I felt our dog died with dignity. This place is all about $$$, scary! Read Less

Don't go to this place! I just took my grandfathers dog here yesterday she was attacked by another dog. They took her vitals and came back with an estimate. The owner of the dog that bit mine was there with us. The dr comes in and they wanted to charge over 4 grand to cut the dog open to see if it's lungs or heart was punctured and flat out told the owner YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY THIS SINCE YOURSELF DOG BIT IT. We asked can we skip out some of this stuff on here the dr said no you have to do all of it all, looking at my sister in law like she was stupid. Little did the dr know my sister in law is a volunteer vet assistant. The dr said I'll give you time to discuss it and walked out. My sister in law said f that all the dog needs an xray and that will tell us if anything is wrong and pain meds hair clipped wounds cleaned. We asked to talk to a technician and a different person who just got on shift said ur dog is breathing fine right now so let me give the dog pain meds and clean the wound up and we will go from there. While in the waiting room the dr comes out and says im off at 6 so a new dr will be here so you can talk to him about what fits your budget. Rude b!&@# . The Xrays was clear the nice technician gave us antibiotics and pain meds and was like ur dog is heavily sedated but she's fine for now because anything can happen. So the end price was almost $400. I'd never come here again. Read Less

This facility has left a really bad taste in my mouth. If you've ever been to a Banfield Vet, then I suppose this place would be right up your alley. I will say this: we were seen immediately upon arrival. Our groomer had put a flea treatment on my dog, and somehow he was able to make contact with the treatment with his foot - and then he scratched his eye. Basically, our one and a half year old puppy had gotten pesticide in his eye. We tried flushing it out with saline and water at home for 15 minutes, and when we realized we needed to seek professional help, within 20 minutes we got to this location.$68 dollars for just a consultation. Okay, no biggie - it's worth it. The vet walked in and saw our Gunnar for 1-2 minutes (NO JOKE) and proclaimed that he would need an eye lavage treatment (duh), a tear test, a stain test to see if any damage was done to his eyes, medication, and a cone. All in all we were looking at $254.00. Whatever. Fine. Do it. Then the vet tech walks in to do every procedure.Not. Okay. I had to leave the room...I was afraid my negative energy would make the procedure worse for Gunnar. When my boyfriend walked out of the room, he told me that he had to hold Gunnar down because he kept trying to bite the vet tech. WELL, BIG SURPRISE. She informed me that during the exam she had found an ulcer on Gunnar's eye, and to wait a week to see if it went away with the medication and treatment before seeing our vet.Yeah, right. I took him to our family's trusted vet the next day. He examined Gunnar for half an hour, examined his eyes extremely closely and informed me that in fact - there was no ulcer in Gunnar's eye. In addition, the cone that this facility told me Gunnar HAD TO WEAR for SEVEN DAYS was unnecessary; we only had to watch him as we normally do.I have no problem spending the money when it's necessary and essential for my pet's health and safety. This is why I have a credit card dedicated solely to vet bills. HOWEVER, I honestly feel I was taken advantage of by this facility - financially and emotionally. My vet recommended an emergency clinic in Diamond Bar and another in Pasadena; he flat out told me to NEVER take our animals here again. I'm following his advice, and I only hope others can head this warning: Don't take your beloved pets here. It isn't about the animals in this location - it's all about the money. Read Less

I honestly don't understand how people give this place a good review all they care about is money and people saying they worked with them on payment is bullshit I bet there employees wrote it I brought my dog there who was only a year and a half and had no issues untill this last week were he seemed very sluggish we brought him here after he collapsed and after looking at him was told it would be near the 2 grand range just for testing and that's all to just see what is wrong not even to treat him witch they said would be even more after that. I asked if there was anyway we could work on the payment or if they could help me on the cost at all or if I could do a couple of the tests and pay for them and try to come up with money for the rest. I was told basically no we need to do it all u can't just do one and you either pay it all now or your dog's going to die I asked if they would just do a blood test and ultrasound because he already had a x Ray a day before and was fine. after hours of trying to talk to them and trying to find money and then being told no I'm sorry we can't do anything cause you have no money we decided to try and hope he would make it through the night and take him home then get him to another vet in the morning. as I asked for this they told me I had to wait for my dog because they were busy with other dogs that were more critical as I can hear the people in the back laughing and watching tv. after a 2 hour wait I finally got my dog back who by this point was even worse and then soon realized they made me wait and called animal control on me and told animal control I planned to dump my dog and they were conserned and that I refused to treat him witch then I asked them how could they say that after I begged for them to and was told I was a lier but then they still wouldn't treat my dog. animal control wrote me a citation for animal abuse that would be taken to action if my dog was not treated in the next 48 hours witch I was trying to do then was denyed. I took him in the morning when another vet opened and that this point he was almost gone barely hanging on and at this vet they treated him no charge and ran test imediatly and told me not to worry about payment that the animals life was more important after a blood test it was determined his kidneys were failing and it was already to late to do anything and something needed to be done sooner witch I tryed at this place and even asked for the blood test and was told it wouldn't say anything and we'll it did and if they pulled there head out of there ass maybe he would be alive still and I would like to thank them for making me loose a best friend and family member due to there inability to care and on top of all this they then charged me 70 dollars to do nothing at all but tell me no they won't treat him Read Less

I don't know why someone can write bad review about this clinic. They're very nice!!! They just saved my dog life. I brought my dog there on Saturday around 4am. She almost die, her gum turned all pale, she couldn't open her mouth, and was shaking. I was crying and prayed to God. She needs a lot of treatments. Her bill came out 1,210. And just because Dr. Trish Ogle does thing from her heart, and care for my dog she tried to work out with me about the bill. She caped my bill down to 1/2. So I left my dog there. When I went back to visit my dog next day afternoon. She looked completely different, she was happier, and acted like normal. So I thought I can pick her up and take her home the next day. I showed up next day to pick up her. But they said she's not ready for pick up yet. They found out she has kidney problem. She needs to stay there longer until she's OK to go home. I thought I need to pay more for the extra treatment. But Dr. Trish said: Don't worry, remember I caped your bill? I need to make sure that she's OK to go home, I can't send her home now. She will die if I send her home. she still young and deserves to live. So everyone tell me, is this Dr. does thing with her heart or for money? I'm glad that I brought my dog there. Thanks God! I definitely recommend friends and family there. If we have 10 stars I would give this place 10 stars. My dog was lucky! if you want your pet get the best treat and service. I recommend this is a place. Now I know why they don't care about those poor review, because they knew they are the best!Read Less

I cannot believe the poor reviews this ER got. I was greeted warmly and told that they would be with me in a few minutes.. I did have to wait but I understood as A family was having to put their pet down and it was very emotional. When my turn caame I was greeted by this Warm Vet Dr Leia Castaneda. I told what had happened so she took my cat for x-rays.. I was called in and she went over all the pictures exxplaining everything to me. THen she told me what needed to be done that Flo needed to be put under to get her hip back in. and she went over what could go wrong and if her hip came back out, she would need surgery. She told me it would be about a hour so I left to see a friend close by. After 20 min. Dr called me to say she was having troule with the hip and that it looked like she was going to need her surgery. When I got back to the office I was told that she was able to finally gfet it in. Dr went over evreything with me.. her pain control, meds, keeping her stable in her crate, etc. I felt very at eased. I would say that my experiance was excellant and I would go back if I needed ER care again. I do have to say that what I piad there was like going to my regular vet, The care , treatment, meds I could not believe that it was so affordable..I have been to other ER's and you need $1300 just to get in the door.Read Less

I rushed my dog to this clinic when she became sick in the evening on a weekend. This clinic was recommended by my regular Vet for emergency care. I found the staff caring and helpful. The bad reviews here seem to be connected to one vet in particular, but the doctor I saw with my dog couldn't have been kinder, more helpful or concerned about both my dog and me! They gave me treatment options and the cost was much more reasonable than I expected. The support staff was kind and gentle with my dog and spoke to her as if she were one of their own. When I was there, another woman came in with an injured cat who was not doing well at all. The doctor rushed out to the waiting room to take the cat for immediate care and to stablize her. I was pleased that they seemed very motivated to take care of the worst patient immediately. The next morning when I called my regular vet for a follow-up appointment, this Emergency Clinic had already faxed them a full report of their findings and treatment. I would not hesitate to take any of my pets here for Emergency care. Read Less

My dog was run over by a car on a Sunday evening. We frantically rushed her to the nearest emergency vet clinic, which, unfortunately for us, was the Emergency Pet Clinic of San Gabriel Valley. We waited for 45 minutes before a technician came in to take her temperature. Twenty minutes after that, the vet, EDDIE CHAVEZ, came in. He looked at her for less than 5 minutes and said she was fine. We were a little shocked since she had just gotten run over by a car and asked a few more questions after this. We must have been severely inconveniencing him, because we had asked TWO more questions to make sure our dog was going to be OK and he said ""Well, I don't know what you want me to say, we CAN keep her overnight and charge you for it, if you want."" He went on to add, that we seemed to know all the answers, when we merely asked if the gashes on her posterior that the technician had failed to mention to him were anything to be worried about. EDDIE CHAVEZ is the absolute worst veterinarian. He is rude, unsympathetic, and will treat you like you are inconveniencing him. This guy should look in the mirror and ask why he became a vet. There are way better veterinarians out there that will treat your pet and you with respect. Read Less

They also said that if she improved to their standards they would keep a staff overnight, if not we should consider euthanizing her.

How can you call yourself a vet?!!!!  i should of read the reviews before i take my coco here.  now i know. Read Less

They make great assessments, examine my pups well and give accurate diagnoses. THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking such great care of my dogs! You have once again eased this dog mommy's worried heart! Read Less

This place where is known to be 5 stars. I give it a star, I took my female boxer to hopefully get saved because she was ran over. Long story short, in order for this clinic accept my dog it was a start of $500 to help her right away, which I was fine. 20 minutes later the front desk lady shared my dog needs to get some test done and that was additional $500.

The owner of the dog that bit mine was there with us.

Read Less
