Both my little doggie and I were so nervous--our first rescue, first vet visit, and no idea of what to expect. Dr. Sandy Ullman and all her staff were so welcoming, caring and encouraging, they did their best to put both of us at ease! Service above and beyond, even by checking to see where we could most affordably find the medicine we needed and giving much needed hints and recommendations to deal with our little dude's fear and aggression issues. We had been clients of Dr Crowe prior to his retirement, and while we really liked him, Dr Sandy Ullman is now our #1 choice for our fur kids. She is kind, compassionate, has a wicked sense of humor and will immediately put you and your pets at ease. We feel so comfortable with her and her skills. We've had our little Bichon in twice, once for an ear infection and then shortly after to treat a bite from a neighborhood dog. Our Tucker boy had to have surgery on his back and Dr Ullman and the entire staff were so great with him. After all of that trauma, he still climbs up and puts his head on her shoulder when he visits. She also has remodeled the office and it's so bright and cheerful with a lot of whimsical pet decor. We have already referred several of our friends to Dr Ullman and they all gave us positive feedback. She's our vet for life and we give her 2 paws up!! Read Less

After trying other vets, this has been my choice since the 1980's. They have seen me through dozens of cats, most of whom lived to be 18, 19, and nearly 20 years old (and these were outdoor cats). They tended to them lovingly. Now I have had my Ragdolls for 13 years and they have benefitted from the same loving care (these two are indoor cats). I would recommend this office to everyone. The transition from Dr. Crowe, who was my dog/cat vet for 20+ years, was great. It was entertaining to have my dogs visit her home when the clinic was undergoing much needed renovation. They cruised into her backyard and took a dip in her pool, and thoroughly enjoyed her attention to them. We always have a great experience at Encinitas Animal hospital! I've been to other clinics and this place far exceeds any of them. Dr. Ullman and the entire staff are welcoming and truly care about my pets. It feels like a neighborhood clinic but with a completely updated hospital and ability to schedule consults with specialists at the facility. Everyone there goes out of their way to help all of my pets including a foster dog that is terrified and reactive to people. They were able to vaccinate him behind the clinic to minimize more trauma. We initially went to Dr. Crowe and have found the transition to Dr. Ullman to be seamless. She is very personable and the staff is awesome. My little terrier has had excellent care- he has gone in for annual appointments, a cold, an ingrown toenail and a flea infestation. All problems were solved and at a reasonable and practical price. The office remodel looks great also, but I would go there regardless for the doctor and staff. Read Less
