The Veterinarians and Staff are incredible! Both of my dogs suffered gastro-intestinal issues after hours when my regular vet wasn't open. Dr. DiLorenzo assessed the situation and presented my options in a concise manner. One of our dogs had to stay the night to receive fluid through an IV while the other one came home to recover. The bill was reasonable (no excessive charges or tests) while still keeping the health of the dogs as foremost in our options. Two weeks after our visit, both dogs are back to normal. Thank you thank you thank you for taking care of my baby!! I came here a few months ago when my dog was experiencing some stomach problems. We hadn't yet established a regular vet and I was frantic to find out what was wrong with my baby. They took her in and were happy to help. Thankfully the diagnosis wasn't anything too sever. And the offered great tips on changing her diet to avoid future mishaps. I met my Son's girlfriend here Wednesday evening to seek care for her small dog who was attacked by a large dog several days prior. He received treatment and stitches at this location following the attack and surgery on his jaw at another location in Encinitas. Several days later, his neck became inflamed with fluid which appeared to be caused by infection. She was devastated after the medical assistant informed her that he needed surgery which would cost 2k up front and may potentially increase to 8k with no guarantee he would survive the surgery. She had already incurred 4K in medical expenses for the initial treatment.  No other options were suggested and they were adamant on performing the surgery immediately that night. After speaking with family members she decided to take him home and wait until morning to return to the Encinitas location for a second opinion. The Vet/Tech which hadn't made an appearance at all returned her dog and spoke "no words" to my sons girlfriend. I asked her one question, if she can offer pain medication to comfort him during the night and she nodded her head "no".  This was my first visit to a pet clinic and I was absolutely shocked by her silence and lack of empathy. We left feeling completely heartbroken and discouraged.The following day, the Encinitas Vet stated her dog did not need surgery and would do everything they could for him and do their best to keep the cost down. They did just that.  She is treating her dog at home with antibiotics and draining the area. The swelling on his neck is diminishing and she is hopeful her little dog will be back to normal soon. 5 am my girlfriend and my dog has been attacked and we decided to take her to see if anything was broken because she had been helping in pain for a couple of hours. My experience at Animal Urgent Care was excellent. The nurses were very kind and patient when my sweet Hurley was undergoing a cluster of seizures. I'm a first time parent and of course I was beside myself. Dr. Dilorenzo was very professional and extremely knowledgable providing plenty of information and different options of treatment. He really demonstrated a genuine care for my dog. The next day when I had to pick her up I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Sabelhaus who was also far exceeding expectations. He really took the time to answer my questions and addressed each concern with compassion. Very happy with their service. Today, everything just started falling apart. Had to get my Corgi/Shepherd re-stapled at a different place because they were falling out and rotating into his cut. He was in the living room with his cone and I somehow realized his staples weren't there anymore. I called Animal Urgent Care and they were so kind and thoughtful. Walk-ins are welcome and they treat every person and animal with such respect. I was extremely happy when they were able to take the staples out and fix him in less than 30 minutes. Basically this place will rob you blind give you crap care and then send you on the way. They charge by the hour which is probably why I heard nothing about my dog for 8 hours. We brought our 6 yr old doxie mix in at 8am with what looked like an allergic reaction and we were afraid she may have eaten something since she couldn't keep food down. I was told they would do X-rays, run some test and let me know what they see. After waiting all day and hearing nothing at 6pm I decided to called the vet to see what was going on. I was quickly told that she was fine and I could come get her. When I arrived I was told there was nothing on the x-rays (which she had at noon and it was now 6pm) and she could go home and take Benadryl. I would think that the $600 I paid in the morning would of covered the cost since nothing had changed from this morning but was then told they forgot to charge me for her iv so I now needed to pay another $80. After we left I revived a call from the vet who wanted to clear up my confusion about my animals care and told me they don't usually call the the owners for 6-8 hours so it was totally normal I didn't know what was going on with my pet.Read Less

My puppy Jordan who just turned one is a very happy dog. Always full of energy. One day she aspirated on her vomit and began to stop breathing. Her gums were grey by the time we took her to the nearest vet. She was almost gone. The vet gave her meds and she came home 3 days later. She had life threatening pneumonia. She was not keeping food down, and aspirated again. The same situation. She was almost gone. We figured we would take her to a closer vet, in Escondido. They realized that all of the meds she was on was too much for her little stomach. She's a shih tzu. No other vet even though of that. She stayed for 3 nights and she came home, and she has not had to go back. That was all the way in October. I love it because they care so much about all of the animals that are in need.Read Less

Not somewhere you really want to be (I.e. experiencing a pet emergency) but the staff are fantastic and very good at dealing with panicking pet parents. They are also very honest about treatment options, budgeting for care, and prognosis. Here's to hoping I never have to go back, but I'm happy to know they are always there when my dogs need them. Rockey go bit by a rattle snake. The staff was completely knowledgeable, understanding and compassionate. They stocked the newest formula of antivenin. The treatment plan was completely reviewed including the estimated low to high range of expenses depending on the final treatment required. I was allowed to say goodnight to Rockey (in the back because they had already started treatment) as he needed to stay overnight for observation. Remarkably, when I picked Rockey up in the morning, I received a refund of some of the charges I had paid for because he did not need some of the treatment originally planned. Over the next week, I needed to take Rockey in for a re-check twice (issues came up) and I was seen right away at no extra fee! Place is clean, staff is knowledgeable, courteous and friendly.
