Madison Ave Vet Clinic: My family and I have been long time customers of this vet for years. We have brought in our cockatiel, our golden retriever: Shaggy and our old cats in the past. Sadly all of them have passed on but I have recently adopted two new pups and was excited to take them both here after a bad experience at another vet. Today was my two pups second visit and everything went well until I checked out at the front desk. The old front desk lady: Laura who wasn’t at all welcoming to me both times during my visit, ignored me and didn’t say anything to me as I waited to be checked out so I could pay and leave. I get they are busy and swarmed with calls but Laura intentionally waited until the other front desk girl could help me when she came back in. As I was paying and getting checked out by the other younger front desk lady, I accidentally swiped my card wrong while paying and (Laura) who was sitting right next to us on her computer made a smartass condescending comment and said, “ It’s funny how technology these days is smarter than all of us.” I was immediately shocked and taken back by her rude inappropriate comment. I then confronted Laura before I walked out and asked her what she meant and the old front desk lady (Laura) said,” I was just being facetious”. I was really offended and that’s not okay to say to your customer and was really inappropriate! I’ve already spent about $800 total (both visits) at this vets office and have been a long time customer of theirs for a long time and it was sad and really disappointing to be treated like that! After I called (Laura) out on her inappropriate rude behavior and made it known to her that I was upset about how she treated me she literally just thanked me for letting her know with a fake smile. No apology and just smiled at me like she couldn’t care less. Eventually Laura did apologize to me after I stood there and made it aware that I wasn’t leaving until she acknowledged that what she said wasn’t cool. Laura gave an array of excuses saying that she’s a nice person and doesn’t cuss and this and that (all the same stuff every white person says when a person of color such as myself calls them out for their microagressions). (I’ve experienced these same interactions my whole life and always get the same excuses by white people). Everyone cusses Laura, come on now. I’ve worked two customer service jobs in my past and have dealt with rude customers all the time and would never make sarcastic facetious comments like that towards them. It was completely rude, unprofessional, and inappropriate of Laura to say insensitive comments like that especially when we are both strangers and don’t know each other. Laura even agreed we were strangers and she even admitted that she was being facetious (which isn’t a good thing) so if Laura agreed we were strangers then she should of known better to not say smart ass facetious jokes to someone she doesn’t know. Laura ignored me when I was waiting to be checked out at the front desk until the other young lady came to help me. Laura had no issue acknowledging another customer at the time who was a middle aged white woman who was waiting in the main lobby with her bunny. Laura had no issue talking with the white customer and chatting her up and being friendly. Not once did Laura acknowledge me and say hi to me, and only when she did she made a facetious inappropriate comment towards me to make me feel like I was stupid and that technology was smarter than me. I didn’t appreciate being treated the way that I did after spending a lot of money here and paying their paychecks and receiving the rude offensive slight I got from the front desk lady: Laura. The other staff of young women were fine and friendly towards me but Laura was a whole different story. Laura then proceeded to tell me she knew how I felt since her husband was Mexican which doesn’t make any difference since some white people who are married or friends with a person of color can still be racist as well. There are a lot of mexican people who are very light skinned and could pass of as white for example celebrity: Jennifer Lopez, so thats another issue that the front desk old white lady: Laura is uneducated and ignorant about. White lady Laura: you have no idea the type of discrimination I’ve had to deal with as a person of color and you NEVER will since you are WHITE. Even both my adopted white parents can’t and won’t ever be able to understand since they are white, so please don’t act like you understand and (say that I’m wrong) when you are WHITE and haven’t walked in my shoes. My experience today was an example of a microaggression. For most people of color they will resonate with my experience of being made to feel less than. With most white people they will turn a blind eye and be ignorant and say it’s something else. Laura also has a tendency to laugh and chuckle at appropriate times when it’s not funny and actually serious like for example with my interaction with her today when she made the insensitive facetious comment towards me. Sadly, I’ll be changing vets after this experience and have no choice but to take my two pups somewhere else where I will be treated like an equal and not have facetious comments thrown in my face. All I wanted was to be treated like a human being and treated just like every other white person in this world. I am waiting for Dr. Brick to call me back. Who knows if Dr Brick will, I feel like she won’t and will most likely side with her employees and lash out at me and treat me like I’m stupid like I’ve read from other Yelpers experience with her, but hey at least I can share my last interaction with them here in this review. Sadly Dr. Bricks husband is a conservative and Trump supporter. Most likely Dr. Brick is as well. I can no longer support and give money to a business whose owner and husband support racist ex president: Trump. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dr. Brick and her husband both laugh at my review since they are both conservatives and support racist and bigots. My original review continued since it was too long: White lady Laura: you have no idea the type of discrimination I've had to deal with as a person of color and you NEVER will since you are WHITE. Even both my adopted white parents can't and won't ever be able to understand since they are white, so please don't act like you understand and (say that I'm wrong) when you are WHITE and haven't walked in my shoes. Even though I’ve been a long time customer here, they probably don’t care if I leave since they make enough money from all their other customers. Laura the old front desk lady sure acted like she didn’t care when she had no issue saying she would transfer all my other info over to another vet. That exactly what I’ll do. Oh and Laura promised that Dr. Brick would me back today after they close but I have received no call from Dr. Brick me it’s almost 9 pm at night. I’m not surprised, but all I wanted to do was express my concern and make a complaint but I doubt Dr. Brick will care and will just side with Laura whose her age and her employee. Just wanted to share my experience with everyone. Choose your vet wisely. I’ll be happy to leave and find another vet who treats me like a human being. Read Less

I am so grateful to this group of wonderful people! I know my chicken, Harris, was treated with the best care by all involved. When they learned of the urgency of my situation, they went that extra mile in their attempt to save my pet. No doubt all that was possible, was done for Harris in the most caring way. Sincere empathy and compassion was obviously felt by all as Harris passed in the most humane way and she was not suffering any longer. Thank you to the doctor (I cannot remember her name!) and the staff that so unselfishly volunteered to work late for me and Harris! I will always use the veterinarian clinic for my pets! Not only are they super close to my house but what made me even more drawn to this place was that almost all of their reviews are rat related. Anyone with reptiles can tell you it's hard to find any vet, but to find a good one? That's golden. Dr. Brick and her team are knowledgeable, personable and compassionate. I first met them when I had to take my dying Beardie in to get put down. A few weeks later I received a card in the mail signed by every single one of her team with kind notes of condolences. This makes a huge difference for someone who lost a loved pet. Anyone who has a pet knows they become your family, even if they are lizards. Since then, I have brought my entire menagerie including my other Beardie, my leopard gecko and my cat. With each and every one, she knows her stuff, and right off the to of her head. She was honest with my cat's allergies, and told me up front how much testing for it would be, but said it wasn't necessary and didn't try to gouge every dime out of me. When I couldn't figure out why my leopard gecko was eating, they offered to let me drop her off and pick her up after work and even called to let me know she was basically ovulating and needed to lay infertile eggs! Her prices are reasonable and you really get top notch service from every one, from the phone to the desk to the core staff and finally, the doc herself. I live far form this place, but I will never take my animals anywhere else. I really enjoy my visits and I learn so much from them with every visit. Read Less

I stumbled upon this veterinary clinic through a fellow Yelper, Steph. I also tried to contact other vets to see if they specialize in rabbits but I got turned down most of the time as many vets only see dogs and cats. I initially brought in my rabbit, Bunzi, for a large abscess on the side of her face. The vet technicians and doctors were really concerned after they saw Bunzi's face. They explained to me each time what they were going to do and brought her to the operating room. First, Bunzi needed her face to be shaved off so they can see underneath the abscess. Her wound was then cleaned up and sutured up for stitches. I was so scared because Bunzi had to have metal staples to her face and I felt so bad for my poor baby since I could not do much to help alleviate the pain she was going through. The vet came back and explained that they had to suture it that way so that there would be drainage of any other discharge. I was advised to feed Bunzi some critical care, TMS, and Meloxicam. My bill turned out to be a lot more expensive that I had anticipated, but I had to do whatever it took to heal my little princess.I have been to the vet several times after the visit and the vet techs and techs have been nothing but caring during this whole process. The vet techs taught me how to feed Bunzi the medication, give her shots, and even wrap her in a bunny burrito. Fast foward to 2 months later, Bunzi is almost all healed up from her abscess and she is going to be the happiest bun ever.  I am so lucky to have found Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Brick to see my princess Bunzi. I am planning to bring Smores and Bunzi to see these great vets for yearly checkups! Also, Dr. Brick also specializes in turtles, birds, dogs, cats, and many other exotic animals!! Read Less

I have been taking my dogs here for nine years. My sister and her husband are the ones that told me about this place and how amazing it is. when my dog Butters had gotten bit by a big dog about a month or so ago I had to bring him to emergency vet. unfortunately it was busy here so I had to bring them to a different vet after he got out of there for emergency surgery and they did not do the job that I was used to like Dr. Brick does. After going to this place in Rocklin and them charging me up the wazoo. I called to see if I could get in with Dr. brick and she was so reasonable with everything. She communicated with the other vet that I went to prior for his surgery and already knew everything that was going on with him when I got there which definitely put my mind at ease with my pup. Being able to tell that she cared about Butters well being is very comforting as well. She was so reasonable with the cost with what he needed done. The other place was going to be charging me around $500 to do something that she did for $130. It's great to see that there is someone that's out there who actually care about the animal rather than just the money that they're making off of helping them.Because of Madison Avenue vet my dog is back is to his normal self when I didn't think he was going to be able to. My baby girl had her first appointment here last week and I was pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was friendly and genuinely interested in my pet, she remembered other customers by name. The vet techs spent time with me and took an active interest in my pet's health. The vet actually spent extra time with my dog checking for lumps. Plus, their pricing is competitive and the pricing for Heartgard was the lowest I've ever seen! The receptionist explained that heartworm was a seriously painful ordeal and she hates the sound of dogs in pain from heartworm treatment, so they chose to sell Heartgard at a lower price to encourage owners to administer it.

Over $170.00 + meds for a 11 lb Westie!!! Are you kidding me? You'll never get business with this kind of bad attitude. My rating = NO stars!!!! Read Less

It turns out that my bird had ingested heavy metal and the treatments weren't really helping .  I'm not blaming Dr. Brick.  I wish we had the xray on the first visit.  I understand small birds are complicated and symptoms could mean many things.  Unfortunately, my bird did suffer and I had to make the hard decision to put her to sleep.Would I go back? YES. Read Less
